While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception. On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe. She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop. She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office. Question to be asked. Could you have received any 'consideration' in return, -- up to and including a bribe? Only way to know for sure is for the District Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation. Apparently, there has been none. If not, why not?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to this Kingsland property owner? To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Our achingly useless, worthless, gutless Sheriff has ignored an email vis a vis the damage this jackbooted thug is responsible for. Interestingly, his fellow officers believe him to be an idiot. Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot. Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved. Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back? To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road? Why hasn't she been evicted by the County? Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens? Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery? Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue. For what? Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

How about Bolen who hasn't a pot to piss in, but was nonetheless f--ked over by Greene to say nothing of an egregiously inept County, to say nothing of you and your goddamned equally incompetent office?

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recognized District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee on August 22 for his efforts in prosecuting natural and cultural resource violations as well as environmental crimes. The commission named the 33rd and 424th district attorney the 2019 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Prosecutor of the Year. McAfee serves Burnet, Llano, Blanco, and San Saba counties. Elected in November 2012 and taking office on January 1, 2013, he has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases involving Texas game wardens and Texas State Park police officers."

The District Attorney has ignored a complaint filed earlier by this publication regarding special treatment accorded Texas oil man Johnny Greene by the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff vis a vis a property dispute involving a local banker, three other local property owners with homes encroaching on land they don't own, one of which is on an unused Llano County road. To say nothing of damage to a Pace Arrow motorhome on that property. All a result of egregious abuse of authority by Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764. The circumstances of this fiasco can be found above in each and every edition of this publication since this happened two years ago. The Sheriff, the County Attorney, and the District Attorney have all determinedly, concertedly ignored this ongoing, unresolved fiasco raising one ferociously pointed question. How much were they bribed?

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk? Get what you truly deserve.

Wake up, Sheriff. Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office? One hundred eighty five weeks, now. A goddamned disgrace. Why are you still sitting on this information? What are you hiding, Sheriff? What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise? Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons? Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.

Who are they, Sheriff? Their past history? An ongoing investigation remains a lame bullshit excuse. How can you and your goons be trusted when you refuse to disclose information? One hundred eighty five weeks. Especially, your egregious failure to disclose the identity of the officers who pulled the trigger. To cover your sorry ass, Sheriff? Those of your thugs? The people have a right to know what happened, how it went down. You don't understand that, Sheriff? Sadly, clearly, you answer to no one. Including taxpayers. Especially, taxpayers.

Until you and your goons come clean, doubt will remain this was indeed a good shoot. The longer you drag your feet, the greater the doubt. Think not? Wake up. Your credibility has tanked. Would you believe the last time the Sheriff's Office happened to be 'audited' during the Garrett regime, reportedly, auditors couldn't figure out what went where and why? Yet, surprise, surprise. Nothing was done. There has to be transparency. There is none. Why would these thieving bastards want any? ... Right, Sheriff? TL? How else could they so easily steal and loot with virtual impunity? The public has a right to know the histories of the Sheriff's goons. Clearly, the Sheriff doesn't think so. That is, where they came from. Why they left where they were. Did you know the Texas Attorney General does not have the authority to investigate and prosecute County authorities on his own? "Gloria Suarez, of Houston, was at the finish line when her best friend, Juan Sorto, finished his first marathon nearly five years ago. One month after cheering on Sorto, Suarez, 36, was paralyzed from the waist down during surgery to remove a tumor in her spine. On Sunday, the two friends will race the 2019 New York City Marathon together, Suarez in her wheelchair and Sorto running right beside her. "Every single day I wake up and I can’t believe that we’re living in this moment," Sorto, 34, told "Good Morning America." "All the things that Gloria has experienced and to look back and see all the things she has overcome, I don’t even have words to describe it."

Uncommon Valor comes in many different shapes, forms, varieties, and circumstances. Common to each? Exceptional courage, boundless determination.

"It is possible to do anything you put your mind to," said Suarez. "Even if you have to modify things, the biggest thing is that it can be accomplished."

It can. She's certainly done so. Her 'wheelchair' in the race is a modified cycle she sits on and peddles with her hands.

"Suarez was just 30 and a single mom to an 8-year-old daughter in late 2014 when doctors discovered the tumor on her spine after she landed in the emergency room doubled over in pain. A surgery in February 2015 to remove the tumor became life-altering for Suarez when she developed a spinal hematoma during the surgery that left her paralyzed from the waist down. She spent the next several months hospitalized and underwent intensive rehabilitation to recover and learn to live as a paraplegic. "Doctors told me I’d be in the hospital for one week and then I’d go home. I told my job I’d be back working in one week," she said. "Obviously that did not happen." "I had about five surgeries during the time I was in the hospital," Suarez added. "And every year since I’ve had at least one surgery because of complications."

"By her side during her medical crisis was Sorto, her best friend since the pair met as students at the University of Houston more than a decade ago. "Still to this day, one of the most difficult things for me to do is ask for help," said Suarez. "I remember Juan asking me for a grocery list and I would not give him a list and he went anyway and bought groceries for me and my daughter and kept doing it."

"Sorto, a Ph.D. student at Texas Southern University, credits Suarez with giving him the motivation to keep running and transform his lifestyle. "I hadn’t really put all the effort into running until this happened with Gloria," he said. "I thought, 'There’s no reason I should give up.' I was in a way channeling her experience and it was motivating me to keep going forward." Sorto has since lost around 60 pounds and completed 13 marathons and an Ironman triathlon."

"While he trained, Sorto said he worried that Suarez -- who eventually had to quit her job and had to have her mom live with her and her daughter for a period of time -- would "give up on herself." Two years ago, he connected Suarez with the Houston chapter of a group, Achilles International, that helps people [with] disabilities participate in running races and other sports. "Juan brought this group into my life at the lowest point that I was feeling," said Suarez. "When I had my injury I gained so much weight because it’s difficult to be in a wheelchair and not be able to walk or do the things I want to do." "I’ve since lost about 60 pounds and I’ve done things with this group that I didn’t even think was possible even if I could walk, like horseback riding, kayaking, rock climbing and skydiving," she said."

"Suarez also began to train in wheelchair racing with Sorto, who would run beside her. The pair planned to run the Houston Marathon last year but had to drop out when Suarez required another surgery."

"They picked up their training after her surgery and now plan to race the New York City Marathon together, a physical accomplishment that even Suarez's doctor said he cannot believe. "It’s a feat that most people wouldn’t be able to appreciate," Dr. Argyrios Stampas of TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston said of racing 26.2 miles in a wheelchair. "Your arm muscles are not meant to be doing a repetitive motion like that like your legs are." "And when you have paralysis your whole body chemistry changes and metabolism changes so you don’t have the endurance or capacity for this type of exercise that you would if you didn't have paralysis," he said, noting that he remembers Suarez being in so much pain after her initial surgeries that her medical team could barely even touch her. "It is so impressive to me to see how far she’s come," Stampas added. "Through it all she’s always been very positive and just trying to get as much out of her life as possible and be as independent as possible."

"Suarez said she can't believe her life today. She is making her first-ever visit to New York City to race the city's legendary marathon and she said she wakes up every day excited to work out. "Even though we might suffer a traumatic experience, life goes on and anything is possible," Suarez said, adding that she still doesn't see herself as an inspiration. "This is my life and this is something I’ve had to learn to adapt to and am continuing to learn to adapt to."

"A state's attorney's office in Illinois has welcomed its newest member: Hatty the black lab. The 2-year-old dog was sworn into the Cook County State's Attorney's Office on Tuesday, placing her right paw over a law book during the ceremony. Hatty's primary handler and victim witness specialist Stephanie Coehlo, left, holds the black lab as Hatty is sworn in by Cook County State's Attorney Kimberly Foxx at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse in Chicago, Oct. 29, 2019. Hatty will join the office to provide support to children who are victims of sexual assault, according to State's Attorney Kim Foxx. "Coming to this work with compassion and understanding of victims' experiences helps to ensure the system is fair and just to everyone," Fox said on Twitter. "Hatty was trained to help provide comfort and relaxation while victims are in the courthouse or while they are giving their testimony."

"Hatty is expected to handle between 150 to 200 cases each year, according to Cook County. She is the office's first therapy dog and was trained by inmates through the group called Duo, which is an assistance dogs provider and training organization based in St. Louis, Missouri. "We are proud to have a resource like Hatty to provide a source of comfort for victims as they navigate this difficult process," the Cook County office said in a tweet."

Clearly, not all Republicans are nazis. Governor of Oklahoma is certainly not. NBC News reports:

"More than 450 nonviolent offenders in Oklahoma reunited with their families in the largest mass commutation in U.S. history. Brody Whisenhunt clutched his mother outside the Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center on Monday, sobbing and declaring it the best day of his life. His mom, Robin Whisenhunt, was a free woman as she walked out of the minimum-security women's facility in Taft, Oklahoma, southeast of Tulsa, one of 462 nonviolent offenders who were released from prison in what the state said was the biggest one-day mass commutation in U.S. history. "It means the world," Brody Whisenhunt said. "I miss my mom more than anything, and just to have her back is great."

"Like many of the inmates freed Monday, Robin Whisenhunt had been jailed for simple drug possession, which, along with low-level property crimes, was a felony until 2016. That was when voters fed up with Oklahoma's rate of incarceration — the highest in the nation, with as much as 1 percent of the state's population behind bars — voted to reclassify them as misdemeanors. On Friday, the day the new law took effect, the state Pardon and Parole Board voted unanimously to recommend that Gov. Kevin Stitt commute the sentences of 527 nonviolent offenders. He agreed, and just three days later, he was at the Warrior Correctional Center to greet the 70 or so women who were released there Monday."

"It's such an honor to be with my fellow Oklahomans outside the walls of Eddie Warrior Correctional Center," Stitt, a Republican who was elected last year, said. "This is the first day of the rest of your life," Stitt said, telling the women: "We're behind you. Oklahomans want to give you a second chance." The rest of the 527 inmates, 65 of them, are due to be freed once other holds are cleared up. All were being given driver's licenses or other state-issued identification cards, possessions vital to applying for jobs and seeking housing. Officials said more commutations are likely in the near future, potentially freeing up as many as 2,000 beds in the crowded prison system and saving the state $12 million."

"At facilities across the state Monday, officials shepherded former inmates into the daylight, some of then overcome with emotion. "This is joy!" one woman shouted at the Taft facility. "This is for Yahweh. Thank you, father. Oh, my God, I'm so happy."

"Another woman appeared dazed as she tried to walk out. "It's OK, darlin'," an aide told her as she guided her in the right direction. "You're doing great."

"I've had a lot of time to think, not being able to see my children," Whisenhunt said. "I'm from out of state — having to be in this state and so far away from my family has really given me some time to think about everything." "I'm just so glad that Governor Stitt gave us this opportunity to be able to go home to our families," she said. For Lori Scott, freedom meant the first chance to see Jasper, her 3-month-old grandson. "I don't want to never put him down," said Scott, who had been less than a year into a 12-year felony sentence for drug possession at the Taft facility. Scott said she had been given new hope that she could set her life straight. "God's not done yet," she said. "He's given us the chance to be able to do something different with our lives." At Kate Barnard Correctional Center in Oklahoma City, Lana Lemus clasped her daughter in her arms on her first day of freedom. "I've been out of her life for three years," said Lemus, who'd also been jailed for felony drug possession. "She's my hope. She's never given up on me," Lemus said. "So it's a great opportunity for a lot of women out there, and all I have to say is thank you."

"Leo Lech stands on a pile of wood in his neighbor's yard, which overlooks the back of his former home in Greenwood Village, Colo. In 2015, the home was destroyed by the police during a standoff with a gunman and has since been razed and rebuilt. On Tuesday, a federal appeals court ruled that the city does not owe Lech any compensation. An armed shoplifting suspect in Colorado barricaded himself in a stranger's suburban Denver home in June 2015. In an attempt to force the suspect out, law enforcement blew up walls with explosives, fired tear gas and drove a military-style armored vehicle through the property's doors."

Apparently, patience is of limited value to these clueless jackasses. Would be laughable if not so goddamned tragic.

"After an hours-long siege, the home was left with shredded walls and blown-out windows. In some parts of the interior, the wood framing was exposed amid a mountain of debris."

"A federal appeals court in Denver ruled this week that the homeowner, who had no connection to the suspect, isn't entitled to be compensated, because the police were acting to preserve the safety of the public."

Jesus Christ. In the circles of law enforcement, day is night, night is day, and shit smells perversely sweet. All ass backwards.

"Under no circumstances in this country should the government be able to blow up your house and render a family homeless," Leo Lech, the house's owner, told NPR. "This family was thrown out into the street without any recourse." Lawyers for Lech argued that the police's destruction of his home was a violation of the Constitution's Takings Clause, which says private property cannot be taken for public use without "just compensation."

"But the problem with that argument, the appeals court ruled, is that courts have long held that police cannot be on the hook for property damage caused in the process of trying to make an arrest. "As unfair as it may seem, the Takings Clause simply does not entitle all aggrieved owners to recompense," the appeals court wrote."

... Hear the rumble? An unwanted, dreaded second American revolution catastrophically looms as these clueless jackasses on the court 'fiddle while Rome burns,' -- so to speak.

"The suspect in the case, who was wanted in connection with shoplifting, was taken into custody after a 19-hour standoff. More than 100 officers from agencies around the Denver area responded to the incident. Authorities say the suspect stole two belts and a shirt from a Walmart. After he left the store, police say, he broke into Lech's house for protection and was firing at officers with a handgun. Eventually, SWAT officers entered the home and apprehended him. Left in the wake of the arrest, though, was a Greenwood Village, Colo., home that looked as if it were collateral damage in a war zone."

Took over a hundred of these f--kers 19 hours to take him into custody? Turned a house into a war zone? These jackasses are idiots. Not qualified to wear a uniform. What could they possibly been thinking? Clearly, insanity rules:

"The interior of the Lech Home was a mass of debris and destroyed belongings from the projectiles launched into the home by the Defendants. Chemical munitions or other projectiles were stuck in the walls. The Lech Home was completely uninhabitable and its condition posed a danger to anyone entering the home," one of Lech's attorneys, David Williams, wrote in a federal lawsuit filed in August 2016."

"At the time of the episode, Lech was renting the home to his son, John Lech, who lived there with his girlfriend, her 9-year-old son and two dogs. The boy, who was home alone when the gunman entered, was able to get out of the house safely. The family members all moved in with Lech until they found another place to stay. The city of Greenwood Village condemned Lech's home. It was completely razed to a vacant lot, and Lech said he has spent around $400,000 rebuilding it — not to mention the $28,000 in legal fees he also incurred as he pursued compensation from the city and police."

"City officials paid Lech's family $5,000 in compensation, a sum that Lech's lawyer deemed "unconscionable." "There needs to be a line drawn for what police departments can do and what they need to do to compensate citizens for this kind of damage," Lech said. "I didn't want to sue anyone for millions. I just wanted fair market value for my house."

"Melissa Gallegos, a spokeswoman for the city of Greenwood Village, sent NPR a statement saying the damage done to the house was necessary to "get the gunman out without any loss of life" and referring to the standoff as a police emergency."

"What Mr. Lech also failed to tell you was that he chose on his own to demolish the house rather than repair it, repour the foundation that wasn't damaged and built a bigger better house where the old one stood," said Gallegos. In her message, she included a photograph of Lech's new home."

"If Lech has his way, his legal battle is not over. Another lawyer for Lech, Rachel Maxam, said she hopes the U.S. Supreme Court will agree to review the case."

"In 1976, Williams and Myers were wrongly convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder for a shooting that left one person dead and another injured in a Florida apartment complex. This year, they became the first to be exonerated under the state's Conviction Integrity Unit, an initiative that gives incarcerated individuals the ability to petition their cases if they present a claim of innocence. Myers and Williams walked free in March after the state uncovered and corroborated new physical and scientific evidence."

The amount varies, but the majority of states, including Florida, provide at least $50,000 for every year someone is wrongfully convicted. Florida caps the amount at $2 million. Myers has filed his claim and is expected to see his $2 million paid out over at least ten years through an annuity. Myers said the state is now punishing his uncle a second time around for his prior convictions."

"Officer Kevin P. Wilcox retired from the East Hampton Police Department on Oct. 22, according to Town Manager David Cox. That was one week after The Associated Press reported that Wilcox had been a Proud Boys member and made online payments to a group leader."

"Wilcox had been an East Hampton police officer since 1999. His retirement was a "revision" of a previously planned retirement date in December, Cox wrote in an email."

"It's important for us to know who else he may have influenced and how his superiors failed to catch his extremist ties," Clarke said."

"In a Sept. 13 letter to Clarke, Woessner said Wilcox had "stopped his association" with the Proud Boys in February, about five months before the Washington-based committee initially inquired about the officer's social media connections to other group members."

The civil rights group described those publicly visible, online transactions as monthly dues that helped fund the Proud Boys' "violent or otherwise illegal" activities. But the chief said he reviewed the matter, received an "explanatory report" from Wilcox and closed the department's inquiry as being "unfounded," with no evidence to support a policy violation. Wilcox "adamantly denies being associated with white supremacists' groups," the chief wrote."

"Clarke said her organization's inquiry about Wilcox was part of its nationwide effort to expose law enforcement officers with possible ties to extremist groups. "Frankly, his superiors should have been doing this work. But if they won't, we'll do it," she said."

Last year, a Louisiana sheriff's department fired a deputy who had publicly identified himself as a Proud Boys member and was an administrator of the Facebook page for the group's local chapter. The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office said its deputy violated an internal policy prohibiting employees from engaging in social media activity that "negatively affects the public perception" of the department, The New Orleans Advocate reported in August 2018."

"McInnes and the Proud Boys have described the group as a politically incorrect men's club for "Western chauvinists" and deny affiliations with far-right extremist groups that overtly espouse racist and anti-Semitic views. In February, McInnes sued the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center for labeling the Proud Boys as a hate group. In response to the lawsuit, the law center said Proud Boy members often spread "outright bigotry" over the internet and have posted social media pictures of themselves with prominent Holocaust deniers, white nationalists and "known neo-Nazis."

"In New York City in October 2018, police arrested several Proud Boys members who brawled with anti-fascist protesters following a speech by McInnes at a Manhattan Republican club. Proud Boys members also have frequently clashed with counterprotesters at rallies in California and Oregon."

Under the sentence, Olsen is prohibited from working in law enforcement, possessing firearms or profiting from the case. Dear Jackson praised what she said was the strength, fortitude and compassion of the family of the victim, 26-year-old Afghanistan war veteran Anthony Hill. She said she had also watched the defendant closely during the trial. "Many might have thought you were stoic and void of emotion," the judge told Olsen. "From the time opening statements started, I saw the tears that you've had. I saw how you replayed March 9, 2015, in your head."

"Prosecutors had asked the court for a 25-year sentence with five years probation. A jury last month acquitted Olsen of murder in the March 2015 death of Hill but found him guilty of aggravated assault, making a false statement and two counts of violation of oath. Jurors deliberated for more than a week. Olsen had faced up to 35 years in prison."

Complete all of that, and the state would drop the charge. He agreed."

"Kenneth — who because of the drug charge asked that his real name not be published — is one of thousands of people in the parish to participate in the program, known as pretrial diversion. He says his case manager was helpful. “When I had to meet with him, he’d get up early and meet with me at 7 a.m. so I wouldn’t be late for work. I appreciated that,” Kenneth says. But as he neared the end of the diversion program, he still hadn’t completed his community service. So he was made an offer: Instead of the 80 hours of service he’d been assigned, Kenneth could go to Walmart, purchase $8 worth of gift cards for each hour of service, and donate those cards to the DA’s office."

"By that time, Kenneth had a bit more money in the bank, though $640 was still more than a month and a half of his rent. A receptionist made photocopies and put them in his case file. Three days later, he received the official letter — he had completed diversion, and the charge against him would be dropped."

"According to documents obtained by The Post as well as interviews with several former employees of Calcasieu Parish DA John DeRosier, since at least 2011, DeRosier’s office has allowed and encouraged thousands of people accused of crimes to buy their way out of community service by purchasing gift cards and money orders. For the first several years, participants were told to donate the gift cards and money orders to the DA’s office. But in October 2015, DeRosier set up a nonprofit foundation, the District Attorney’s Community Assistance Foundation (DACAF), to collect and distribute the gift cards and money orders. The nonprofit is run out of the DA’s office, and staff members, including DeRosier’s secretary, often do foundation work while on public time. DeRosier himself confirmed these particular details in a phone call."

"Because the gift cards weren’t logged or tracked at all until the nonprofit was established in late 2015, it’s impossible to say exactly how much money the office generated through the program, but according to recent tax receipts from the nonprofit and former staff members who agreed to be interviewed, the figure is at least several hundred thousand dollars."

"Legal ethicists consulted for this article say even the stated purpose of the program is problematic, and possibly illegal. The most common way DeRosier’s office has used the gift cards is to purchase toys and clothing, which DeRosier and his staff then distribute throughout the parish, often at Christmas while riding in a firetruck. At times, local media have been invited to publicize the giveaways. DeRosier also visits churches or city halls to hand out gifts, or to distribute the gift cards themselves. He has donated to law enforcement groups, cultural organizations and dozens of other nonprofits."

"According to three former staffers, gift cards have also sometimes been sent to DeRosier’s friends and supporters of his campaign. Ex-employees also allege that some in the office used the cards on themselves, purchasing gifts for their own grandchildren and other relatives. One former staff member called it a “slush fund” — a pile of money DeRosier uses to build up his public image and unofficially campaign for reelection. The office’s record-keeping also appears to have been inadequate at times. Prior to the formation of the foundation, there appears to have been no effort to track the gift cards at all. But even after the foundation was started, tax specialists consulted for this article say the nonprofit’s tax returns are cryptic, vague and confusing, and lack supporting documentation."

The amendment eventually passed by nearly 30 points."

Do it.” Three sharp pops rang out and an electric buzz filled the air. Oakry, still holding his 1-year-old, screamed and collapsed to the ground as three Tasers hit him at once."

By the time police got to Oakry’s apartment, the woman had left the home, but she indicated her three children were still inside with their father, the report said."

"Oakry was arrested and charged with assault and child endangerment, police said. Hamel, his attorney, told The Post on Tuesday that both charges were dropped by the Tempe City Prosecutor’s office. In a Tuesday statement to The Post, Tempe police stressed that Oakry’s young son had not been hurt and defended using nonlethal force against the father. “Although Oakry was affected by the taser, the child was not injured and there was no evidence of the child being struck with the taser probes,” the statement said. It went on to note that the officers “developed a lawful right to enter the residence,” accusing Oakry of committing endangerment by picking up the toddler in the middle of the confrontation."

"While an administrative review found the officers had not violated the use of force policy, they were still subjected to mandatory retraining, officials said."

"A school resource officer was arrested Tuesday on a child abuse charge related to a September incident in which he slammed a teenage girl to the ground by her throat in Pompano Beach, Florida. Deputy Willard Miller, 38, was charged with felony child abuse without great bodily harm and is the subject of an internal affairs investigation, Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony said Tuesday. "The way the deputy responds, for whatever occurred, whatever type of verbal dialogue was going on, it makes no sense and it wasn't necessary," Tony said."

"Video released by the sheriff's department showed the jarring moment when Miller attacked the unidentified 15-year-old girl at the Cross Creek School on Sept. 25. Miller can be seen in the video in a room with the young girl and at least two other individuals. The girl walks around the room with her hands in her pockets for a few minutes while Miller is on his phone. At one point, the girl appears to tap the deputy's leg with her foot and Miller looks up for a moment. Miller then crosses the room about a minute later, puts his hands on the teen's throat and slams her to the ground while the girl's hands are still in her pockets. He then turns her over so that she's on her stomach, seems to say something to her, then picks her up and throws her into what appears to be an alcove in the room."

"There is no audio with the surveillance footage and the circumstances of why the officer was in the room with the girl are unclear. Miller had been assigned to the school in August 2016."

"Broward County Public Schools said in a statement that it made the sheriff's office aware immediately upon learning about the incident. "We appreciate the quick actions of the Sheriff’s Office regarding this matter and continue to work with them regarding the situation," Kathy Koch, the district's chief communications officer, said. "We are also investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident to ensure all proper District policies and procedures were followed." The sheriff described Cross Creek School as a school that specializes in children with emotional needs, but did not elaborate on whether the 15-year-old girl had any special needs or disabilities."

"During a mission to capture a terrorist leader in the Afghan mountains on April 6, 2008, then-Sgt. Matthew O. Williams forded an ice-cold river and fought his way up a jagged, frozen mountain cliff under intense enemy fire to reach his wounded comrades. Over the course of a six-hour firefight, Williams repeatedly exposed himself to enemy rocket-propelled-grenades, snipers, and machine gun fire to evacuate casualties, provide first aid, and establish a critical fire position. His complete disregard for his own safety allowed the entire team to escape alive and prevented the lead element of the assault force from being overrun by the enemy.

"The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor and is presented to members of the Armed Forces who distinguish themselves conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their own lives. "The Islamic State Thursday confirmed the death of its founder and leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and announced a successor. The propaganda arm of ISIS also confirmed the death of another top ISIS official, its former spokesman. In an audio message released through its central media operation, the group's new spokesman announced that Baghdadi's successor is a man named Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi. He is a figure largely unknown outside of ISIS circles and is hailed in the message as "Emir of the Believers" and "Caliph" of the group's alleged caliphate. In the announcement, both Baghdadi and former ISIS spokesman Abu al-Hassan al-Muhajir were praised as "martyrs."

"The ISIS announcement came four days after President Trump told a nationally televised news conference that U.S. forces brought "the world's No. 1 terrorist leader to justice." It also came less than 24 hours after the head of the U.S. Central Command, Gen. Kenneth "Frank" McKenzie Jr., released video from the raid in northwestern Syria that resulted in the death of Baghdadi and five other ISIS fighters. McKenzie offered fresh details on the operation against Baghdadi, and warned that U.S. officials are bracing for "some form of retribution attack." "We're under no illusions that [ISIS is] going to go away just because we killed Baghdadi," McKenzie told reporters at a Wednesday briefing."

Does Trump fully understand that, General? Or, is he still cluelessly entertaining delusions of grandeur? ... Moreover, anything to draw public attention from the impeachment inquiry. -- As the walls close in, posing an exigent threat to his presidency.

"The U.S.-only assault force was transported for about an hour by helicopter from a staging base in Syria to Idlib province, he said, roughly 4 miles from the border with Turkey. ISIS fighters, who McKenzie said "demonstrated hostile intent against U.S. forces," were eliminated by two airstrikes from supporting U.S. helicopters. From there, the U.S. forces surrounded Baghdadi's compound, urging those inside to exit. Those who did included 11 children, McKenzie said. Once the assault was completed, U.S. forces retrieved documents and electronics from the compound, which he described as "substantial." After departing, the military destroyed the compound in a precision strike to "ensure that it would not be a shrine or otherwise memorable in any way" McKenzie said, adding, "It looks pretty much like a parking lot with large potholes right now." In all, he said, six ISIS fighters died inside the compound, four women and two men, including Baghdadi."

Baghdadi's fight to the end didn't quite match Trump's rendition as will become abundantly clear:

"McKenzie reiterated Trump's recounting of the raid from Sunday, in which Baghdadi detonated a suicide vest, which collapsed the tunnel he retreated into. McKenzie said Baghdadi also killed two young children with him in the tunnel. Officials believe they were both "under 12." Originally, officials said three children had been killed with Baghdadi."

"McKenzie also said Baghdadi may have shot at oncoming U.S. forces before detonating his suicide vest. "We believe that Baghdadi may have actually fired from his hole in his last moments," McKenzie said. McKenzie said he could not corroborate President Trump's description of Baghdadi "whimpering and crying" as he fled in the tunnel. "I'm not able to confirm anything else about his last seconds," McKenzie said, adding, "I just can't confirm that one way or another."

"McKenzie said the Defense Intelligence Agency was able to confirm identification of Baghdadi "beyond a shadow of a doubt." Using DNA samples retrieved from the tunnel and comparing them with samples taken when the ISIS leader was detained at Iraq's Camp Bucca prison in 2004 "produced a level of certainty that the remains belong to Baghdadi 1 in 104 septillion," said McKenzie."

"More details also emerged about the Belgian Malinois dog injured in the raid. He is a four-year veteran of the Special Operations Command and has participated in nearly 50 combat missions. The dog was injured by live electrical cables inside the tunnel after Baghdadi blew himself up, Pentagon officials said. He's been returned to duty. According to a tweet from President Trump on Thursday, the dog, named Conan, "will be leaving the Middle East for the White House sometime next week!"

Anaya said someone in Giuliani’s position should never allow a person he didn’t know to access his device."

“It’s unnerving to think that this individual has access to the most powerful person in the world and that sensitive communications could be disclosed to people who should not have access to them,” Anaya said. The previously undisclosed episode adds a new chapter to the chronicles of Giuliani’s tech follies. NBC News reported last week that Giuliani twice butt-dialed one of its reporters, leaving long voicemail messages in which he is heard discussing the Bidens, business in Bahrain and his need for cash. Both of the accidental calls were made in the hours after Giuliani had spoken with the reporter."

"In the first voicemail message left on Sept. 28, Giuliani can be heard bashing Joe Biden and his son Hunter, as well as recounting his effort to push Ukraine to launch an investigation into the Bidens. The second recording, left on Oct. 16, captured Giuliani talking to an unidentified man about Bahrain. “The problem is we need some money,” Giuliani says in the voicemail message. “We need a few hundred thousand.”

"Giuliani’s effort to push Ukrainian officials to investigate Joe Biden has made him a key figure in the impeachment inquiry playing out in Washington. Despite being the president's personal lawyer, Giuliani is not a White House employee and has said he doesn't have security clearance. Spurred by the recordings, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., a presidential candidate, is planning to send a letter to the State Department inspector general Thursday demanding an expanded investigation into Giuliani’s overseas activities, Harris’s office told NBC News. Harris noted in a draft of the letter that Giuliani was “recently overheard discussing suspicious financial arrangements in Bahrain and Turkey.” “These reports raise a number of serious concerns, especially given allegations that Mr. Giuliani is running a ‘shadow foreign policy,’” Harris added in the draft letter, obtained by NBC News."

"Tim Morrison, the top Russia and Europe adviser on President Trump’s National Security Council, on Thursday corroborated the testimony of a senior U.S. diplomat who last week offered House impeachment investigators the most detailed account to date for how Trump tried to use his office to pressure Ukraine to investigate former vice president Joe Biden, according to people familiar with his deposition. Morrison told impeachment investigators that the account offered by William B. Taylor Jr., the acting ambassador to Ukraine, is accurate. He said that he alerted Taylor to a push by Trump and his deputies to withhold both security aid and a White House visit for the Ukrainian president until Ukraine agreed to investigate the Bidens and interference in the 2016 presidential election, said one person, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive discussions."

"A federal judge on Thursday fired skeptical questions at lawyers for the Trump administration who argued that current and former senior White House aides have "absolute immunity" from being questioned by House impeachment investigators. The hearing, before U.S. District Judge Ketanji Jackson in Washington, was the first time Trump lawyers tested in open court their attempt to block White House aides from cooperating with the impeachment inquiry into the president."

"Jackson at times struggled with the Trump administration's argument that former White House counsel Don McGahn does not have to comply with a subpoena filed by House Democrats for him to sit for testimony related to conversations he was party to that could implicate Trump in possible articles of impeachment for obstruction of justice."

The Constitution is clear. Congress has the constitutional mandate to act as check and balance to the Executive.

"So what does the separation of powers mean to you then?" Jackson asked Trump administration lawyers. "How can the legislature actively exert its oversight power unless it has the ability to exercise its investigative powers?" James Burnham, a lawyer with the Justice Department, responded that applying "absolute immunity" to current and former aides close to the Oval Office is "not an exotic thing that we just cooked up." Burnham said it has been the legal position of the White House for decades so that information covered by executive privilege will not be exposed."

"Jackson sounded incredulous at this line of argument, noting the difficulty in enforcing it given the number of White House aides who have cycled through the Trump administration. The judge said Trump does not invoke that concern when former White House staff appear on cable news. "For some reason, the president doesn't own it when former officials appear on MSNBC," Jackson said."

"House attorney Doug Letter, who previously spent decades working in the Department of Justice, said the Trump administration "made up" the concept that all senior Trump aides have an absolute shield from any kind of testimony. "This is what they wish the law were. It is not what the law is," Letter said."

Certainly, not in the Constitution which rules as the supreme law of the land.

"He said it may be the current position of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, but those opinions change with administrations and sometimes conflicting opinions exist at once. More importantly, Letter said, a Justice Department legal opinion should not persuade a federal court. "It's interesting like a law review article is interesting, but it's not binding on you or Congress," Letter said to the judge."

"In August, months before the current impeachment inquiry was officially launched, McGahn was subpoenaed to sit for questions related to his role in the Mueller report on interference in the 2016 election. McGahn told Mueller investigators that Trump had pushed him to fire Mueller and then create a paper trail to cover it up. McGahn never acted on Trump's wishes, but the House saw the interactions as possible acts of obstruction of justice."

"Even now, though, with the impeachment inquiry focused on a July 25 call between Trump and the president of Ukraine, House leadership says findings in the Mueller report, including McGahn's possible testimony of Trump obstruction, could cause additional articles of impeachment."

There are ten examples of obstruction of justice in the Mueller Report. Mueller failed to prosecute because the DOJ ruled a sitting president can't be indicted. Forget? In a democratic republic no one is above the law. No one.

"Democrats filed a lawsuit to force McGahn to comply with the subpoena. Justice Department lawyers said the dispute does not belong in the courts at all. Burnham said that when the judiciary gets in the middle of a fight between two political branches of government, faith in the courts is undermined. Jackson balked. "How will they resolve it on their own then, sending the sergeant-at-arms to arrest Mr. McGahn?" she asked. "I thought that is what the court's role was," Jackson said. "To decide what the law is."

"The outcome of the McGahn lawsuit has implication for other potential witnesses in the impeachment inquiry, which is now probing whether Trump abused his office by making hundreds of millions of dollars in military assistance contingent on Ukraine opening an investigation that would help Trump's 2020 reelection bid. On Thursday, the House formally passed a measure approving the inquiry. Jackson said she plans to rule in the coming weeks."

Another former top White House aide, Charles Kupperman, had a hearing on Thursday centered on a nearly identical issue just down the hall from the courtroom drama in the McGahn case. Kupperman, once the deputy to former national security adviser John Bolton, is also being summoned by House impeachment investigators but has not appeared. Lawyers for Kupperman filed a lawsuit seeking to clarify whether he must show up for questioning. Charles Cooper, a Kupperman lawyer, said the House subpoena and order from the White House to ignore it places his client in a difficult position. "It's a classic Catch-22 here," Cooper said. "And my guy is caught in the middle of it." But Todd Tatelman, a lawyer for the House of Representatives, was not buying Kupperman's supposed plight, saying the suit "serves no other purpose than to attempt to delay the impeachment inquiry," adding that it is tantamount to "a miscarriage of justice."

"U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon set Dec. 10 as the date for oral arguments in the Kupperman case. He rejected a request from the Justice Department to allow more time to prepare, mentioning that the issues involved are urgent and need to be resolved quickly. "Roll your sleeves up," Leon told the Justice Department lawyers. "And get the job done."

"A growing number of Senate Republicans are ready to acknowledge that President Trump used U.S. military aid as leverage to force Ukraine to investigate former vice president Joe Biden and his family as the president repeatedly denies a quid pro quo."

John Neely Kennedy (R-La.) argued that there may have been a quid pro quo but said that the U.S. government often attaches conditions to foreign aid and that nothing was amiss in Trump’s doing so in the case of aid to Ukraine, these individuals said."

That's delusional. Time for Republicans to finally wake up: a big, big difference, an enormous difference between the U.S. government placing conditions on foreign aid in the best interests of the United States as indeed quite proper, -- and what the Trump nazi, in fact, did.

That is, the fascist bastard perniciously placed conditions on this aid for his own political best interests. To defeat the Democratic front runner in the next election. Clearly, against federal law. Don't have to be an attorney to understand that.

Republicans, sadly, remain blind to reality. Impervious to truth. Indifferent to principle. Continue to make excuses for the president's criminal activity, parse the truth, distort reality for narrow partisan interests:

"Inside the lunch, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), who ran against Trump in 2016, said a quid pro quo is not illegal unless there is “corrupt intent” and echoed Kennedy’s argument that such conditions are a tool of foreign policy."

Conveniently, ignores the fact the allegations against Biden and his son were debunked quite some time back. Moreover? Desperate Republican efforts to justify Trump's blatant criminal attempt to have Ukraine interfere in an American election ring hollow. For all to see. Certainly, make Republicans look like fools, dolts, led by their corrupt and abusive fuhrer, the Trump nazi.

“To me, this entire issue is gonna come down to, why did the president ask for an investigation,” Kennedy, who worked as a lawyer, said in an interview. “To me, it all turns on intent, motive. ... Did the president have a culpable state of mind? … Based on the evidence that I see, that I’ve been allowed to see, the president does not have a culpable state of mind.”

Disingenuous parsing of language is indeed the province of shyster lawyers and corrupt, abusive politicians. Remove your head from your ass, Senator. Aggressive stupidity is unbecoming. Highly indicative of the current Republican mindset. Republicans will pay dearly for this. ... Not that Democrats don't have equally formidable problems.

Here's the ongoing, seemingly interminable issue faced by increasingly clueless Republicans:

"The discussion underscores the dilemma for congressional Republicans as a cadre of current and former Trump administration officials paint a consistent picture of a president willing to use foreign policy to undercut a potential domestic political adversary. On Thursday, Trump appointee and longtime Republican aide-turned-National Security Council adviser Tim Morrison became the latest official to testify that nearly $400 million of congressionally appropriated military aid for Ukraine was frozen to increase pressure on President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Biden, a 2020 presidential contender."

The truth is increasingly undeniable as Democrats continue to present official after official after official willing to tell and confirm the truth during the impeachment inquiry.

"And with the House Democrats voting Thursday to open the closed-door impeachment investigation, undermining the GOP’s complaints about a secretive process, Republicans are frantically seeking a new strategy and talking points to defend the president."

The shit is indeed hitting the fan. Time for Republicans to cut their losses.

"Meanwhile, the president has frustrated Senate Republicans by seeming to change his messaging strategy every day rather than present a coherent defense of his actions, said multiple Senate GOP officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to comment frankly."

"On Thursday, Trump told the Washington Examiner that he wanted to do a series of “fireside chats” — as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously did during the Great Depression and the early part of World War II — to defend himself. He said he perhaps would read aloud the transcript of the July 25 telephone call in which he asked Zelensky to do him a “favor.”

Trump is no Roosevelt. Not only that, it is clear through congressional testimony key words and phrases were eliminated from the telephone transcript. Moreover, extremely difficult to believe a verbatim recording of the call was not made.

"The willingness of some Senate Republicans to acknowledge a quid pro quo while dismissing the offense comes just two weeks after acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney had to walk back a similar assertion. Mulvaney argued in a long-winded news conference on Oct. 17 that quid pro quos are a common feature of foreign policy and that the media should “get over it.”

Republicans within this regime are achingly inept. It is stupid, to say nothing of criminal, for these gutless bastards to continue covering for and making excuses for Mr. Trump.

Called aggressive stupidity, that is, the determination to be cluelessly stupid, not be confused by the truth no matter the cost.

"Indeed, a strategy that includes acknowledging a particular kind of reciprocity with a foreign government would almost certainly unnerve moderate Republicans such as Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), who faces reelection next year in a Democratic-leaning state and has said it was “completely inappropriate” for Trump to invite China to investigate Joe Biden, which the president did after the Ukraine controversy began. Collins has repeatedly declined to comment on Ukraine, arguing that she probably would be a juror in a Senate trial of the president."

"One senior Republican aide cautioned that acknowledging a quid pro quo is unlikely as a strategy for the Senate GOP, even if some conservatives like the idea."

They'll certainly wind up paying at the polls as the public continues to wake up to the disaster currently occupying the Oval Office. -- The tremendous amount of damage done as Republicans continue to mindlessly defend the indefensible.

"Such a step would also undercut Trump’s central talking point on impeachment — and would clash with House Republicans’ strategy. Trump’s Capitol Hill allies and Republican leaders, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (La.), are sticking with Trump’s line that there was no proposed trade-off with Ukraine."

“You can’t have been in [the impeachment depositions] with 10 different witnesses and come out with any credible belief that there was a quid pro quo for aid. … It’s just not accurate,” said top Trump ally Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) “I’ve heard people say, ‘Well even if he did it, it’s fine.’ The problem with that is: I know that he didn’t do it.”

"In the Senate, however, some Republicans aren’t as confident and have expressed concerns about the endless drip of embarrassing headlines from daily witness testimony that the U.S. aid and a White House visit for Zelensky hinged on the Biden probe."

"Gordon Sondland, ambassador to the European Union, acknowledged telling one of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s advisers that resumption of U.S. aid was tied to an anti-corruption pledge sought by Trump. The acknowledgment in a deposition released Tuesday was a reversal from his earlier testimony. It puts Sondland in the middle of what national security officials saw as an attempt by the White House to leverage nearly $400 million in security assistance for investigations that could benefit President Trump politically."

"U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland told House impeachment investigators this week that he now remembers telling a top aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that Ukraine would not receive U.S. military assistance until it committed to investigating the 2016 election and former Vice President Joe Biden, according to a person with knowledge of Sondland's testimony."

"Sondland said that by the beginning of September, he “presumed that the aid suspension had become linked to the proposed anti-corruption statement.” Sondland said he also now remembered a Sept. 1 conversation with Andriy Yermak, a top Zelenskiy adviser, in Warsaw in which he told Yermak that “the resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks.” He also said that soon after that he “came to understand” the statement would have to come from Zelenskiy himself. He claims he doesn't remember how he learned that but it may have come from Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani or Kurt Volker, then-U.S. special envoy to Ukraine who resigned after his name appeared in a whistleblower complaint about Trump’s dealings with Ukraine."

"Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, acknowledged telling an aide to Ukraine's president that U.S. military aid was tied to a public statement of "corruption" from Kiev, according to a supplemental statement from Sondland that was part of a transcript released Tuesday of the envoy's closed-door deposition Oct. 17 before congressional investigators. President Trump, through a pressure campaign led by his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, wanted Ukraine to investigate debunked conspiracy theories related to the 2016 election and the Bidens--which the president and his supporters say amount to corruption. "I said that resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks," Sondland writes, noting that he now recalls a Sept. 1 meeting in which he told that to an aide to Zelensky. That conversation followed a meeting between Vice President Mike Pence and Zelensky, "in which President Zelensky had raised the issue of the suspension of U.S. aid to Ukraine directly with Vice President Pence," Sondland notes."

Alexander Vindman testified that he received this instruction from John Eisenberg, the top legal adviser for the National Security Council, after White House lawyers learned July 29 that a CIA employee had anonymously raised concerns about the Trump phone call, the sources said. The directive from Eisenberg adds to an expanding list of moves by senior White House officials to contain, if not conceal, possible evidence of Trump’s attempt to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provide information that could be damaging to former vice president Joe Biden."

"The instruction to stay quiet came after White House officials had already discussed moving a rough transcript of the call into a highly classified computer server, and the instruction was delivered by Eisenberg, who would later be involved in the administration’s battle to keep an explosive whistleblower complaint about the call from being shared with Congress."

"The interaction between Eisenberg and Vindman suggests there was a sense among some in the White House that Trump’s call with Zelensky was not, as the president has repeatedly claimed, “perfect.” And it threatens to undercut Trump’s argument that the expanding impeachment inquiry is politically driven."

Should have been transparency from the very beginning of the impeachment inquiry. While the Democrats indeed had legitimate reasons for not doing so, such as not giving witnesses the chance to tailor testimony to match earlier testimony by previous witnesses, transparency was the only way the public, Republicans, and Trump's sick sycophants would have had any faith or trust in the process. ... "While meeting with Eisenberg, Vindman said he heard the legal adviser turn to another attorney in the room and propose steps to restrict access to the rough transcript — a move described in the whistleblower report as an attempt to “lock down” what lawmakers now consider the most damaging piece of evidence about Trump’s intent and conduct."

"Vindman also testified that the transcript failed to capture several potentially important words or phrases, including a reference by Zelensky to a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, that had employed Biden’s son and that Trump wanted investigated. Vindman said he sought to correct the transcript but that his suggestions were not incorporated."

"New details from Vindman’s testimony also shed light on other aspects of the tense aftermath of the call inside the White House. The NSC aide said that Eisenberg approached him several days after the call and said that a CIA employee had raised internal concerns about the call, and that the agency’s top lawyer had relayed those concerns to the White House, people familiar with the testimony said."

"Eisenberg asked Vindman whether Vindman had spoken to other officials about his concerns, and then instructed him not to have any further conversations about the matter, the people said. But by that point, Vindman had already done so, according to his testimony, in which he disclosed that he had spoken to at least two “interagency peers,” meaning officials in other positions beyond the White House who also closely followed Ukraine issues. Vindman did not reveal in his testimony who those other officials were."

"The CIA employee who went on to file a whistleblower complaint also supplied a memo he had made for his own records commemorating a July 26 conversation with a White House official about the Trump-Zelensky call. The White House official had “listened to the entirety of the phone call” and was “visibly shaken by what had transpired,” the CIA employee wrote. The official described the call as “crazy,” “frightening” and “completely lacking in substance related to national security.”

"Vindman also testified this week that the official record and rough transcript of the call included an inexplicable change. A vague eight-word phrase was added and attributed to Zelensky that the foreign leader never said. The specific word that Zelensky did say was omitted from the official record: “Burisma,” the Ukrainian company that employed Biden’s son Hunter. In its place, the official transcript used this instead: “the company that you mentioned in this issue.” The reason for the insertion of a potentially fabricated phrase, which has not been previously reported, is unknown. Some argue that the transcribers simply misunderstood or missed the word but used a generic description. But it could be helpful to the president’s claim that he did not engage in a quid pro quo."

Again, it's extremely difficult to believe a verbatim recording of the call was not made. If not, why not? Makes no sense.

"Zelensky mentioning Burisma by name holds significance, Vindman told lawmakers. It suggested the Ukrainian leader knew in advance of the call that the American president was seeking an investigation of his Democratic rival before Trump would agree to meet with Zelensky."

Moving the record of the call to a separate secure server interrupted the normal process for handling a review of the transcript for a president’s calls with a head of state."

"Internal Justice Department legal opinions say sitting presidents cannot be charged by federal prosecutors. But those guidelines do not apply to Vance, an elected New York prosecutor who enforces state laws."

"Vance’s investigation followed the conviction last year of Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen, who pleaded guilty to federal campaign finance violations. Cohen said Trump directed — and reimbursed him — for payments he helped arrange to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to keep allegations of affairs with Trump secret before the election. Vance has said that, at this stage of the investigation, Trump “has not been identified as a defendant, nor is there an assumption he will be.” Trump has denied the relationships and any wrongdoing connected to the payments."

"The president considered written answers more than adequate when special counsel Robert S. Mueller III sought information from Mr. Trump during the Justice Department’s Russia investigation. More to the point, if Mr. Trump were interested in fact-finding and truth-telling, rather than distracting from the substance of the charges against him, he would provide documents and encourage all relevant witnesses to testify. Instead, administration officials are refusing to testify before the House Intelligence Committee — officials who likely have firsthand knowledge crucial to the House’s impeachment inquiry."

'Don't do as I do, do as I say.' Had Trump nothing to hide, he and his henchmen wouldn't be stonewalling. No more complicated than that. Quickest way to discredit and silence critics is open up. Engage and embrace transparency. ... That is, if in fact you have nothing to hide, have committed no crimes, broken no laws.

"Robert Blair, an aide to acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, was on the call during which Mr. Trump pressed Ukraine’s president to investigate former vice president Joe Biden. John Eisenberg, a National Security Council lawyer, reportedly suggested limiting access to the transcript of that call and told others not to discuss it. Russell Vought, the acting director of the Office of Management and Budget, might shed light on Mr. Trump’s peremptory suspension of military aid to Ukraine, an act that appears to have been an element in the president’s corrupt pressure campaign."

The walls are certainly closing in on the Republicans. The Washington Post reports:

"Democrats’ claim of victory Tuesday in Kentucky’s gubernatorial race, as well as the Democratic takeover of the Virginia state legislature, left Republicans stumbling and increasingly uncertain about their own political fates next year tied to an embattled and unpopular president."

"Many allies of President Trump rushed to explain away the poor performance of incumbent Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) as an anomaly, while other GOP veterans expressed alarm about the party’s failure in a state where Trump won by nearly 30 percentage points in 2016 — and where he just campaigned this week. Although Bevin was controversial and widely disliked, he was also a devotee of the president, embracing Trump’s agenda and his anti-establishment persona. And in the contest’s final days, Bevin sought to cast his candidacy as a bulwark against House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry of Trump. But Bevin’s attempt to nationalize his cause by stoking conservative grievances about the impeachment process was not enough to overcome his problems nor was Trump’s raucous rally for the governor on Monday — raising questions about Trump’s political strength as he faces a barrage of challenges and a difficult path to reelection."

"The outcome — with Democrat Andy Beshear claiming victory with a lead of several thousand votes and Bevin refusing to concede — underscored how Republicans are struggling to navigate choppy political waters as the 2020 campaign now begins in earnest. Trump continues to dominate the party, but many lawmakers are uneasy about their ability to defend his conduct and hold on to suburban support. Yet few Republicans are willing to even lightly criticize Trump because they widely believe they will need his voters’ backing and enthusiasm in order to survive next year."

"Former McDonald's CEO Stephen Easterbrook is getting an exit package of almost $42 million after his relationship with an employee was found to violate company policy. The size of his compensation puts a new focus on the widening gap between the pay at the top and the bottom of the corporate ladder. According to an analysis by executive-compensation experts at Equilar, Easterbrook's exit package totals $41.8 million, which includes six months of severance pay, shares he can cash out in the future and other equity. And that amount is in addition to $23.8 million in stock options that Easterbrook can exercise now."

"Wow, he is walking away with a lot of money," says Cornell Law School professor Stewart Schwab, an expert on employment law. "And it comes out as part of the story of just, wow, [the] 1% gets a lot more money than the rest of the workers in this economy." It's relatively unusual for a CEO to receive a severance package after being fired. But the board of directors at McDonald's determined his firing to not be for cause — a threshold that varies by company. And litigation in a protracted dispute can be tricky and expensive."

How about that? Guess what happens to someone at the bottom rung who gets fired for whatever?

"Writing to employees this week, Easterbrook said: "I engaged in a recent consensual relationship with an employee, which violated McDonald's policy. This was a mistake." No further details were disclosed, but McDonald's current policy prohibits employees who "have a direct or indirect reporting relationship" with one another from dating or having a sexual relationship. McDonald's latest disclosures show that in 2018, Easterbrook made $15.9 million. That's 2,124 times more than the median income of a McDonald's employee — a part-time crew member working in Hungary. According to Glassdoor, a U.S. crew member at McDonald's makes an average of $9 an hour."

This is a clear example of laissez-faire capitalism, that is, unregulated, or as in our formerly great country, extremely poorly regulated capitalism.

"Easterbrook joined McDonald's in 2015, and his tenure was praised by company watchers. The fast-food chain's stock price hit historic highs under his efforts to revamp both the restaurants and the menu."

... While his employees took it hard in the ass. Without the Vaseline or K-Y.

"But Easterbrook also presided over the company as it faced allegations of rampant sexual harassment of female employees by male co-workers and managers. (To be clear, his departure does not involve harassment allegations.) In May, workers in 13 U.S. cities staged protests against low pay and the company's handling of alleged sexual harassment. In recent years, dozens of McDonald's workers have filed sexual harassment complaints, alleging everything from lewd comments and groping to retaliation."

Forget? The American Way. "Following worker complaints, McDonald's announced in August that it would introduce an anti-harassment training program for U.S. workers. The program, which began in October, trains restaurant supervisors and crew members on how to create a safe workplace and defuse difficult situations. Earlier in the year, McDonald's also made an unexpected commitment to no longer lobby against minimum-wage hikes at the federal, state and local levels. In mid-2015, McDonald's added at least $1 an hour more to the local minimum wage to employees of the restaurants owned by the corporation. The majority of McDonald's locations are owned by franchisees."

Insult to injury? Taxpayers are forced to pay for public assistance programs for McDonald's employees and others who are not making a livable wage. -- While the fired CEO laughs his financially portly ass off all the way to the bank. Galling, isn't it? Called corporate welfare.

"In 2015, research by the UC Berkeley Center for Labor Research and Education found that more than half of fast-food workers rely on public assistance programs like food stamps. The research did not specifically focus on McDonald's."

The exact same messaging, other than IP addresses, is the same on the wink
and t15 FTP servers. This hacking attack apparently occurred the day
after Wells Fargo closed two accounts because I publicly accused them of
criminal activity. Your company needs to look into this matter. Get these
FTP servers up and running again. A criminal complaint will be filed with
the U.S. Attorney regarding all the ongoing criminal activity by Wells
Fargo, now extended to hacking and undue interference with the webhosts.
Has 2freehosting been bribed and/or pressured by Wells Fargo? Certainly,
one of numerous questions to be forwarded to criminal prosecutors.

hacked. The three websites, however, remain up and running at time of
writing. That is, libertyinperil.twomini.com, libertyinperil.wink.ws, and
libertyinperil.t15.org are accessible and running. Only FTP access has
been effected making it impossible to upload. This hacking attack

Welcome. Liberty In Peril has been relaunched at a new URL:
libertyinperil.com. This is a new commercial site hosted in an overseas
country, which unlike our own, does value free speech, Net security,
privacy, equally importantly, despises hackers. Banks too big to fail
should not have the ability to shut down ftp servers on four Liberty In
Peril websites, making upload impossible. -- Simply, because they don't
want the truth of their criminal activity reported to the public.

Should this site not be kept up, running, and fully operational, the
libertyinperil.com domain will be quickly moved to a different host
despite cost and hassle. No more bullsh-t. Criminal complaints will be
prepared and filed against Amanda Wright, Lynn Massey, and the equally
criminal bastards in the Wells Fargo corporate management suite for
egregious deceptive trade practices.

Email notification of local businesses of these practices, has and will,
continue unabated until Wells Fargo accepts responsibility, ceases these
practices, and finally makes it right. During the last several weeks
after the ftp servers were hacked, a blizzard of these emails was sent to
local businesses to keep intense pressure on the criminal bastards at
Wells Fargo. Copies of these emails were sent to bank officials. They
have been posted in this publication. ... We're already up to Salvo 74, --
and counting.

In addition, all new Newsletter Editions will feature an
available abbreviated version, smart phone friendly, that can be accessed
by clicking on the icon. Will supplement the regular format of this
publication. This is being done because so many of you access this
publication with smart phones and other devices with small screens.

This site has finally been fully uploaded. All links appear to be
properly working. Typos in the rush to get material up have also been
corrected. There will be a few additional changes to be made as time
allows. Including, again, a smart phone-friendly abbreviated version of
each future Newsletter Edition starting with v434 that will be available
in addition to the regular edition.

Hopefully, now, I can finally get back to the business of this
publication, that is exposure of corrupt, abusive, inept, clueless
government lackeys beholden to their corporate masters, rather than
dealing with recalcitrant webhosts. We'll see. With the
libertyinperil.com domain, however, any necessary changes in webhosts will
be easy to make since all links won't have to be changed or deactivated.

The pressure on Wells Fargo will continue unabated. Should they further
interfere with operation of this publication, it will simply provide
additional fodder for criminal complaints to be filed against them.

On 9-22-15, Kingsland Wells Fargo Store Manager Amanda Wright forced
closure of two accounts because for nearly three years this writer has
publicly accused her, her predecessor Lynn Massey, and the Wells Fargo
corporate management suite of engaging in criminal deceptive trade
practices, as well as pressuring, unduly interfering and/or bribing
webhosts to take these websites down.

Apparently, they have successfully managed to unduly influence and/or
bribe the federal Consumer Financial 'Protection' Bureau and Texas
Attorney General Consumer Protection Division as well. Forget? The bank
is considered too big to fail. Considers itself government.

For all practical purposes, that's perversely true. They have money and
resources to buy not only their human chattel, but their bought and paid
for government lackeys. Be interesting to see whether or not the U.S.
Attorney is untouchable, or sadly, similarly capable of being bought.

Immediately after closure of these accounts, the three operational Liberty
In Peril FTP servers were hacked. What that means is that while all three
sites remained operational and accessible to readers, new material could
not be uploaded. This continues to date.

Worse, 'free' accounts on all three 'free' webhosts conveniently no longer
provide technical control panel support. Clearly, they don't want to know
there are problems. Have managed, however, to find other ways to contact
webhost management and have done precisely that.

Will take a criminal investigation to determine who hacked the sites,
however. Most likely, Wells Fargo had a hand in it. Certainly, have the
resources. Highly, unlikely the Llano County Sheriff's Office was
involved. Hard to believe they would be that stupid. The Bank, however,
has nothing to lose. Owns its government lackeys. The Sheriff and his
outrageously corrupt and abusive goons, however, can expect further

The effort to expose Wells Fargo egregious deceptive trade practices continues. Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Copies of which were also passed on to both offending Wells Fargo officers. A copy was also sent to the Davis campaign and others at the time.

Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail. Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion. That has yet to be determined.

The bastard and his office, no matter what, failed to respond to the complaint originally snail mailed several years ago. This material, figuratively targeting Wells Fargo and the governor 'wannabe' now Governor, had been posted and can be found by scrolling all the way down and clicking on the links well below. ... Governor? Wells Fargo bribe you to look the other way?

Will continue to do all I can to publicly expose this to all, both in this publication and elsewhere. Have done precisely that with the following email sent to Matt Turner, Matt Turner Video Services, Marble Falls, TX. A copy of it was also sent to Wells Fargo officer Amanda Wright. She has, indeed, been promoted branch manager. Reverse Darwinism. Survival of the unfittest.

This young woman has indeed been rewarded by the Wells Fargo corporate management suite for engaging in criminal deceptive trade practices and her undying loyalty to her corporate masters. -- Despite the fact these businesses were, and are, being egregiously f--ked by these very same bastards. Tough, isn't it? Impossible to entertain any sympathy for cowardice, however. Especially in view of the fact this writer has placed himself in great jeopardy taking on these corrupt, abusive, inept criminal bastards. Alone.

Exactly, why you see no investigative material highly critical of these sons of bitches in other local rags. Sadly, cowardly, all advertising income immediately dries up. Consequently, the bastards continue their criminal chicanery with impunity. On a rampage. Thus, you get what you truly deserve. Always. This writer, then and now, remains primarily interested in state, federal, and international issues. Another reason for this publication name change. Despite the fact I stupidly cluelessly remain here, local issues must be addressed. Can't be ignored. That's where you come in dear readers. Have the courage to inform this writer of local abuse, corruption, ineptness you are aware of, have personally experienced.

... Information these criminal bastards do all they can to conceal, cover up. Otherwise, how can they effectively sustain the charade and intended result? Loot confiscation through a boot heel on the throat of the citizenry.

The only way, short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, to force badly-needed change is to expose all this to the light of day. These bastards are beginning to understand they have a problem. No question, the growing rage of those they've abused, looted, egregiously f--ked. It's time to stand up. Expose this corruption to glaring sunlight. Otherwise, as fools, cowards, you will remain under their thumb. From the loftiest business owner to those on the bottom of the food chain. Wake up. Grow a pair.

Then, you gallingly complain about the oppression as you tolerate egregious theft of your labor. Not only by your corporate masters, but their bought and paid for government lackeys. Too cowardly to stand up, allow disclosure of your identity when you rightfully complain to this publication of being mercilessly f--ked. Some of you falsely arrested, criminally assaulted, bogusly fined for 'offenses' you did not commit. To line County coffers. Keep the peasants in line and under control. A fascist police-state. Nazi America.

Again, yet another reason why this publication is called Liberty In Peril. Most galling? Nothing changes if you fail to step up and challenge corrupt, abusive, inept authority. Too afraid, cowardly compliant to let the bastards know who you are. Did it ever occur to the cowards out there if the identity of the accuser is kept under wraps the bastards will falsely claim it's all made up by this publication? Thus, conveniently killing all credibility. Wake up.

Cowardice is unbecoming, unworthy of our formerly great country. Insult to injury? There are the hopelessly deranged who believe the chicanery reported here to be manufactured anyway. No matter the effort. No matter the research. No matter the proof. Wake up. This writer cannot do it alone. Snowball's chance in hell. Then again, cowardice, delusion is always amply, justly rewarded. Always. You continue to 'enjoy' the very best government money can buy. Literally.

Click herefor a most interesting conversation between JP2 Linda Ballard and LCRA Communications Supervisor Mitch Hibbs who at the time was investigating a complaint made by the Henderson family against the 'judge.' The recording had been made by Hibbs and provided by Phyllis Henderson who had gotten it through an open records request. During the course of the recording you will hear the 'judge' make a terroristic threat against the Henderson family which the investigator laughingly shrugged off as a joke.

Seems former LCRA Ranger Lance Bilski, stepson of Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn, had been harassing the Henderson family regarding their tire business, Henderson Tire. Worse? There are unsubstantiated allegations, that although very much attached, Bilski may have indeed engaged in improprieties, that is, egregiously unprofessional conduct relevant to the Henderson complaint. All this had been covered in Newsletter Text V346.
