Obama is expanding the war on terror. The Washington Post reports:
"The Obama administration is giving the elite Joint Special Operations Command — the same organization that helped kill Osama bin Laden in a 2011 raid by Navy SEALs — expanded power to track, plan and potentially launch attacks on terrorist cells around the globe, a move driven by concerns of a dispersed terrorist threat as Islamic State militants are driven from strongholds in Iraq and Syria, U.S. officials said."
This is extremely dangerous. Could lead to expansion of the war without Congressional approval.
"The missions could occur well beyond the battlefields of places like Iraq, Syria and Libya where Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) has carried out clandestine operations in the past. When finalized, it will elevate JSOC from being a highly-valued strike tool used by regional military commands to leading a new multiagency intelligence and action force."
Sounds like mission creep.

A long-term nemesis to the United States is dead. Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro died at 90. Amazing how remarkably different reaction has been. Bottom line? Castro was a brutal Marxist. His brother Raul remains in power. Sixty years of conflict between the United States and Cuba has yet to be resolved. While the President wants to move on, Trump certainly does not. CBS News reports:
"After the death Friday of communist Cuban leader Fidel Castro, several politicians in the United States reacted to the news, including President Obama, who offered condolences to the Castro family and extended “a hand of friendship” to the Cuban people."
Can't have that, can we? Despite the fact nearly sixty years of the U.S. embargo has done nothing to remove communism from Cuba.

Not surprisingly, this drives Rabid Right fascists in the GOP nuts. Yet Republican nazis still can't seem to understand the embargo has done nothing to resolve the issue. At least the President has made some effort to affect change:

See the photo of Omran Daqneesh, 5, the boy sitting in the back of the ambulance in Aleppo, Syria? Covered in blood and dirt. Expressionless. He and his family had been bombed in Syria either by the Syrians or the Russians. Fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured. The trauma, however, will live on indefinitely. His brother, Ali Daqneesh, 10, died of his wounds Saturday.
Other than raw combat footage showing mutilated corpses, it doesn't get more poignant than the photo of this young kid in shock. Incapable of emotional reaction. Just sitting there. There is more than enough blame to go around. Detailed both here and elsewhere for years regarding this ongoing, appalling atrocity in Syria.
Yet, despite all the talk, empty rhetoric, nothing is done to end it. Nothing at all. Just talk. The Russians continue to exacerbate the problem. It may very well have been Russian bombs that are responsible for the carnage inflicted on the Daqneesh family. No matter who is ultimately responsible, the carnage must end.
It won't. Not any time soon. This human catastrophe remains unabated. The UN, the United States, Europe, the rest of the world, -- achingly paralyzed.

Turkey continues to turn into a dictatorship. Now, is placing pressure on the United States to extradite a cleric in self-imposed exile here. CNN reports:
"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared to give the United States an ultimatum, demanding the extradition of a cleric he believes is behind the failed July 15 coup attempt. Erdogan said the US would eventually have to choose between its relationship with Turkey and Fethullah Gulen, a former Erdogan ally who has been in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported Wednesday. "Sooner or later the US will make a choice. Either Turkey or FETO," Erdogan said, in reference to the movement headed by Gulen."
Have to wonder how our government will respond to the demand. Interesting, isn't it? Although a NATO member, Turkey has more than its share of problems. Has been a useful gateway to the Middle East for our military, however. Time to re-assess this relationship in light of the recent failed coup and subsequent mass arrests.

-- Not the first time the Obama Administration has been accused of painting a rosier picture than reality vis a vis ISIS. Fox reports:
"Intelligence reports produced by U.S. Central Command that tracked the Islamic State’s 2014-15 rise in Iraq and Syria were skewed to present a rosier picture of the situation on the ground, according to a bombshell report released Thursday by a House Republican task force."
One has to wonder since this theme seems to resurface again and again, who is truly skewing the results? Is it in fact the U.S. military to make itself look better? Or, is it the Administration pressuring the military to make the Administration appear more productive? More successful than it truly is. We keep hearing reports ISIS is being reined in. Yet, the terror attacks continue, nearly unabated. Someone's lying. Or, no one has a true handle on the extent of this cancer.
One thing is for sure, however, the Syrian resistance is growing increasingly critical of the Obama Administration's egregious failure to do something about the exponentially increasing humanitarian catastrophe perpetrated by the Assad dictatorship and its benefactor, Putin and the Russians. Yet, despite all the suffering nothing is expected to change in the near future.

The President and his henchmen strongly claim an airlifted $400 million in cash on pallets to Iran back in January was not in fact ransom to release four imprisoned Americans. Interesting, isn't it? Trump received a Purple Heart Medal from a veteran. CNN reports:
"Something very nice just happened to me. A man came up to me and handed me his Purple Heart," Trump told supporters at a campaign event here. "I said to him, 'Is that like the real one or is that a copy?' And he said, 'That's my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.'"
Make sense? You decide. Worse?
"Trump received the veteran, identified by his campaign as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman, on stage at the start of the rally to receive the decoration. The campaign didn't specify which branch Dorfman served in. "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier," Trump said."

The US and its coalition continue to murder innocent civilians in Syria. NPR reports:
"Syria's main opposition group is calling for the U.S.-led coalition to suspend its airstrike campaign against ISIS after reports of dozens of civilian deaths close to the Turkish border."
Don't forget the United States is supporting this opposition group. Has provided this information. Again, our noses are where they don't belong:
"As NPR's Alison Meuse told our Newscast unit, reports suggest the strike near the northern town of Manbij is the "largest civilian death toll since the intervention began."

The recent failed military coup in Turkey remains proof positive instability remains a problem in a country that still remains a close ally of ours. What is disturbing is the fact that despite having a democratically elected government, that very same government appears to be turning into a dictatorship. More so, after the failed coup attempt. Exponential increase in repression. Also, does not appear to be fully living up to its obligations to the United States and other NATO allies. Seems to be allowing Islamic fighters to pass through to ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

The Senator is grandstanding. Gutlessly, stoking fear. Regarding ISIS: "They may be in the United States as well." That's crap. Untrue. Bullshit. Will certainly become a problem here, however, should we continue what we're doing in the Middle East, that is, putting our noses where they don't belong. France is taking a terrorist beating for exactly that reason. Has taken on a military role in the Middle East, after years of criticizing the United States for doing the same.
That is, the French have made exactly the same mistake as the United States. Put their noses where they don't belong. Consequently, they've become a target. Are now paying the price. The current ongoing problem in Syria and Iraq vis a vis ISIS is their problem. A Middle East problem. Granted it was created in the region specifically due to the earlier invasion of Iraq under false pretenses by former President George "The Tush" Bush and his sidekick "Slick Dick" Cheney. Two unprosecuted war criminals.
Still, it's not our problem. It's not a problem that can be solved militarily. Sadly, it does originate with the U.S., Europe, UN authorized theft of Palestinian territory in 1948 by Holocaust survivors. As repeatedly reported in this publication. -- The development and implementation of modern terroristic techniques by the Israeli aggressor that were so extremely initially successful for that aggressor.
Until, of course, others in the area implemented the very same. The modern age of terror so having its origin. Now, we have a U.S. President who wisely remained cautious vis a vis taking out the Syrian dictator years ago, but stupidly issued a warning to the dictator he apparently had no intention of backing up with force.
That is, where Obama made his greatest mistake, indeed, was in knowingly and falsely drawing a line that he had no intention of following through with. A transparently phony bluff. What the hell did he expect to happen as a result? Does he truly think the Syrian dictator is a dummy? Part of the problem with the leaders in our formerly great country is they have absolutely no respect for the intelligence of both our enemies as well as our friends.
Now, with the Russian military propping up the dictator, the President has run out of options. Other than to provide support to groups friendly to American interests. -- Groups the Russians are attacking with air power. Should the President and his henchmen continue to meddle in the Middle East as he clearly is still doing, the risk of terror on the mainland increases. Either way, a losing proposition.
Despite his psychotic bluster, Sen. "Screws Loose" Cruz has no reasonable answer to the problem, offers no viable solution. Just more of the same. While remaining an exigent threat to all civil and constitutional rights and liberties. Think there aren't savages in Pakistan? The following from CBS is appalling. Goes on all the time. Careful, it's quite grisly:

Neighbors in the congested, working-class neighborhood in the eastern city of Lahore came running when they heard the screams, but family members kept them from entering the house, said Nighat Bibi, who lives nearby. The police eventually arrived and found the charred body near a staircase. They arrested the mother soon thereafter."
How do you effectively deal with this? Why are we actively still engaged there militarily, that is, going after terrorists? To what end? Ordinary citizens are insanely, psychotically killing their own children. ... And we're worried about foreign terrorists who pose no exigent threat to the U.S. mainland? Why? To what end? To line the bottomless pockets of corporate war profiteers? Do we really think American jurisdiction extends across the universe?
