Accessing The Llano Ledger Website Without Generously Providing Financial Assistance To This Publication Not Only Denies Desperately Needed Funds For Investigative Expenses, But Amounts To Theft Of This Writer's Labor.

BANNER AND POP-UP ADVERTISING PAYS ONLY FOR WEBSITE

*****As repeatedly and strongly asserted on both Ledger websites, this publication receives NO compensation from Maxpages nor the advertisers. None. Banner and pop-up advertising pays ONLY for the website itself, -- a "free" website. People still mistakenly think there is compensation. ... How do I make it any clearer???

Want this publication to continue? Send a financial donation to P.O. Box 997, Buchanan Dam, Tx. 78609. Ask your friends to do the same. Otherwise, The Ledger will not survive. ... When will this readership finally wake up? Think there's an indefinite free ride? Think any business can survive without compensation? Think it's always the other guy's responsibility? Think again. The clock is ticking...*****

*****Surgeon General In Doghouse*****

That's right. Surgeon General David Satcher has drew the ire of the "President" with the release of a 16-page report titled "Call to Action to Promote Sexual Health and Responsible Sexual Behavior." Why? It runs counter to fascist principles near and dear to the heart of the Religious Right by urging public tolerance of homosexuals as well as frank discussion of sexual issues and values. The Right, however, thinks IT corners the market on moral values and condemns any diversity in thought differing from its own jaded philosophy. Tough, isn't it? Certainly, politically incorrect.

... Not that Satcher had any support from the Clinton Administration either. Apparently, Bush won't reappoint him. Too bad. The straight-jacketed thought of "religious" bigots will once again prevail. Ludicrously, "conservatives" would rather see their sexually-active children pregnant or suffering from sexually-transmitted diseases, rather than have adequate sex education and access to contraceptives. -- "Just Say No", right? It would be laughable, if not so damned tragic. Then again, the Right has its collective head up its ass. So what else is new?

*****Privacy Notices*****

The Financial Modernization Act requires all financial institutions to mail out privacy notices by July 1 permitting customers to "opt out" of programs allowing these institutions to share or sell personal information to third parties. It is important to respond. Otherwise, banks, lenders, credit card companies, etc. will have the right to sell your private personal information for profit.

Most pointedly, why in hell do customers have to opt out to ensure their privacy is not invaded by greedy commercial interests? Our senators and congressmen need to answer for not looking out for the best interests of their constituents. Rather, they catered to their cronies and allowed lobbyists to conveniently line their deep pockets. ... Right, Phil? Kay? Lamar?

*****Senate Reaches Agreement On Supreme Court Nominees*****

The U.S. Senate has agreed Bush Supreme Court nominations will reach the floor and not be held up in committee. -- Only fair to "The Tush", isn't it? Republicans correctly believe any fascist nominees submitted will have a far better chance of being confirmed. Hopefully however, Democrats will continue to offer stiff opposition to any and all extremist candidates the "President" sends to the Hill, should any current "Justices" retire.

With the Supreme Court already leaning heavily to the Far Right, the Good Ole' Boy appointed "President" by this stunningly partisan Court will undoubtedly have the opportunity to cement the fascist philosophy of the third branch of government for years to come. ... All the more reason for Democrats to dig in and oppose unsuitable appointees. Interestingly, the agreement does NOT cover other judicial appointments.

*****Senate Passes Healthcare Bill*****

That's right. Democrats have finally managed to pass the patients' bill of rights. It will now move on to the House. The GOP has offered tremendous resistance to legislation clearly benefiting the medical consumer. Why? To protect its cronies in the healthcare community who have heavily lined the pockets of Republicans. Fascists in the Senate have complained the bill will result in the loss of healthcare coverage provided by employers. Nonsense. Employers have already been dropping coverage due to greed and relentlessly deep pockets.

If Republicans are so concerned about insurance coverage, why not force employers to provide it to workers by law. If businesses consequently wind up going broke or indeed lay off employees as a result, let "free market" forces operate and provide new opportunities for entrepreneurs more amenable to employee rights and compensation. Most pointedly, tax the shit out of greedy businesses that lay off workers while compensating CEOs to the tune of millions of dollars yearly in executive salary and benefits packages. ... Share the wealth.

George "The Tush" Bush has vowed to veto the bill, disingenuously asserting he "could not in good conscience sign this bill, because it puts the interests of trial lawyers before the interest of patients." Most pointedly, the "President" is a liar. If this was truly his concern, he would have long since urged legislators to cap attorneys' fees rather than outrageously deny citizens their constitutional right to sue criminally negligent healthcare providers.

... Equally outrageously, Phil Gramm didn't even bother to vote and Ole' Kay voted against it. Both will have to answer to their constituents, however, and are apparently in the pockets of the healthcare community, -- at the expense of patients. Yet, both U.S. Senators get the best in medical care and will continue to receive it long after retiring. ... At taxpayer expense.

*****Increase In Military Spending*****

Ole' George has proposed a $32.6 billion increase in defense spending, bringing the budget to $328.9 billion. -- An increase of over 10%. After all, the "President" needs to take care of defense contractors who generously lined Republican coffers recently. "The Tush", however, is disingenuously asserting the increase will go to taking better care of military personnel, while conveniently ignoring the outrageous waste and fraud existent throughout the entire defense establishment.

*****Budget Surplus May Shrink According To Bush "Administration"*****

Receive your tax rebate check yet? According to Lawrence B. Lindsey, director of the White House's National Economic Council, the budget surplus may be less than expected due to problems in the economy. Duh. ... Imagine that. Although rebates are geared mainly to the rich who do not traditionally spend "disposable" income nor need to, the "Administration" still strongly asserts the taxcut will stimulate a faltering economy. Should the economy continue its downward slide however, citizens will certainly know who to blame, -- since the "President" has ordered IRS to clearly indicate to citizens receiving rebate checks his "Administration" is responsible for the taxcut package.

*****GOP Ignores David Brock*****

Remember David Brock, the GOP point man in the Republican trashing of Anita Hill? Readers will recall Hill testified against Clarence Thomas, a Right Wing fascist now sitting on the U.S. Supreme Court, during confirmation hearings back in the earlier Bush Administration. Ms. Hill was trashed by "conservatives" at the time and for years since. Recently, Mr. Brock has courageously admitted to lying about Hill. Yet, Republicans are conveniently ignoring his epiphany. Interesting, isn't it? ... Never confuse the Fascist Right with the truth, however. Never. -- They're too damn busy lining their pockets to care anyway

*****Veep Refuses To Release List Of People Who Spoke To Energy Panel*****

"Vice President" Dick Cheney has refused to release a list of energy executives who met privately with the panel that formulated the "President's" energy policy, a policy that heavily favors Big Oil. Interesting and convenient, isn't it? ... And further evidence of the best government money can buy. The "Administration" is apparently on a collision course with congressional investigators looking into how the "President's" cronies operate. Hopefully, Democrats will not back off and will aggressively hold the feet of the "Chief Executive" to the fire. We'll see.

*****Perfection*****

Typographical errors drive you nuts? Been a problem for many area publications, including this one. ... Especially since there is no spell check function in the software provided by Maxpages. Being a speed reader, it is also extremely difficult to proof-read one's own material. Compounding the problem is the limitation of the software itself. After over two years of effort looking for a way around this perpetually nagging problem however, a solution has finally been found. ... A round-about way of finding most errors without use of a proof-reader.

Some of you may have noticed earlier editions being updated. Only typographical errors are being corrected, however. -- Not substance. Fortunately, there were far fewer errors than expected. Usually one or two per edition so far. ... Extremely painful though, for a perfectionist. All joking aside, typographical accuracy is important and every effort is made to ensure it.

*****Unbridled Fear*****

As strongly asserted in the last nine Newsletters, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet. Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty. If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?

Despite the lack of financial assistance from a cowardly and selfish community, the Llano Ledger and Llano Ledger 2 visitor count stands in excess of 123,900. ... Over two years, now. For what?
