*****Bush Dragging Feet On Reagan Papers' Release*****
The Presidential Records Act of 1978 requires the release of
presidential records 12 years after a president leaves office, starting
with Ronald Reagan. The Bush "Administration" has been dragging its
feet on disclosure of some 68,000 pages of the former president's
documents, due to have been released last January. The "President"
wants Justice Department attorneys to "review" the paperwork first.
Why? Apparently, Ole' George wants to be sure his top aides aren't
embarrassed, or worse, with what may be contained in these records. ...
Many of the "President's" cronies also worked in the Reagan
Administration. Interesting, isn't it?
Mr. Bush has already asked for an extension, and received it, until
June 21. He may seek to delay release even longer. Historians are
concerned the "Administration" may find a way to stall indefinitely.
Amazing how reluctant corrupt and abusive officials are to have
unflattering documents exposed to the light of day. After all, LISD
Superintendent Jack Patton is a perfect example, isn't he? Readers are
reminded this bumbling government bureaucrat has been successful to
date denying public access to documents germane to egregious fraud and
corruption within the School District. ... With the blessing of the
Texas Attorney General, Llano County Attorney, as well as the District
Attorney. After all, all three have no interest in the exposure of
corruption in Llano County. None
*****Double Trouble Excused?*****
Incredibly, the co-owner of Chuy's Restaurant in Austin is apologizing
for the 911 call made by management, leading to underage drinking
charges filed recently against the "President's" daughters. Succumbing
to pressure from numerous complaints made by patrons apparently
sympathetic to the plight of both young women, Mike Young retreated
with his tail securely tucked between his legs, indicating he also was
"upset" by the action of his manager. ... What in hell is wrong with
this picture?
Had it been Chelsea Clinton, the Fascist Right would have called
for her head on a platter, -- as well as that of her parents. Yet, when
a favorite son's offspring is involved, it's quite alright to look the
other way. The hypocrisy is stunning. Law enforcement has strongly
asserted restaurant management did nothing wrong, and Mr. Young has
insisted the manager will not be fired. ... Mighty generous, no? The
manager has received death threats. Outrageous, isn't it? Whatever the
hell you do, don't upset the Extreme Right. Tough.
... If unfair, aggressively stupid, zero-tolerance underage drinking
laws are on the books, why shouldn't they be equally enforced on all,
including the "President's" daughters? Why should Bush family members
receive special dispensation? Readers are reminded both young women are
charged with violating new legislation signed by their father when he
was governor. Interesting, isn't it? ... Hey, George? The chickens
always come home to roost, don't they, sir?
*****Social Security Numbers Not So Secure*****
Identity theft has become a growing problem, facilitated by easy
access to social security numbers. The Social Security Administration
is urging Congress take badly-needed action to restrict the use and
exchange of personal information originally intended only to track
workers' social security earnings. Now, they're used for virtually all
financial transactions. Can the government put the genie back into the
bottle? Highly unlikely.
Most pointedly, why in hell does the State of Texas send post cards to
professional license holders with numbers (including the holder's
Social Security number) clearly printed in full public view? ... A
policy state officials regularly engaged in until at least thirteen
years ago? Most pointedly, why does the Department of Public Safety
require a Social Security Card EVERY time a driver's license is
renewed, -- along with thumbprints? Apparently, we're living in Nazi
Germany.
*****FBI Sniper Can Be Tried For The Killing Of Vicki Weaver*****
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled FBI sniper Lon
Horiuchi can be prosecuted for the killing of the wife of white
separatist Randy Weaver. Remember Ruby Ridge? Mr. Horiuchi fired a
round into the face of the 42-year-old women as she held a 10-month-old
infant in her arms. For years, the federal government had maintained
the agent had immunity from state prosecution. Not so. Think justice
will finally occur? Think again. The government may appeal the
decision. State officials may decide not to prosecute. Justice? What
the hell's that?
No one has ever been prosecuted for the deaths of Weaver's wife and
son. There has, however, been a financial settlement. Interesting,
isn't it? Had it been a Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Cheney, Kennedy family
member, etc., -- and not a fascist bigot, action would have long since
occurred. ... Even an extremist is entitled to due process, however.
After all, this is the United States where ALL are supposed to be
treated equally and fairly. Apparently, no longer.
*****Davidian Prosecutor Gets His?*****
Remember Waco and the death of over 80 Branch Davidians at the end of
the siege back in 1993? No one in government was ever held criminally
responsible. No one. A former federal prosecutor, however, was
sentenced to two years probation, June 7, for withholding information,
-- use of pyrotechnic gas at the end of the siege. Interesting, isn't
it? ... One scant scapegoat. Ole' Bill and former Attorney General
Janet Reno, however, have successfully eluded any personal
responsibility. As American as apple pie, no?
*****Bush Sued For Abortion Gag Rule Order*****
The "President" has been sued by the Center For Reproductive Law
And Policy for his Executive Order barring federal funding of foreign
family planning organizations that offer abortion counseling and/or
services. Janet Benshoof, president of the group asserted: "President
Bush took away my right to free speech because I advocate an idea that
he opposes and deems dangerous: the idea that legal abortion is a human
right for women around the world."
Commenting further, she stated: "Bush's gag rule does not gag everyone,
it only gags people like me who have one view." In addition, she
commented: "Organizations working internationally, in the United
States, and individuals that oppose abortion rights, are not censored."
The lawsuit asserts: "The law reform gag violates the First Amendment's
guarantees of speech, freedom of association, freedom to petition the
government for redress of grievances, and freedom of peaceable
assembly." It's about time someone has finally had the courage to
challenge the "President's" attempt to impose his views of morality on
others.
*****Democratic Senate To Investigate Energy Prices*****
With Democrats in control of the Senate, an investigation of rising
energy prices and record producer profits will be conducted. About
time. This is the third instance Americans have been suckered by Big
Oil. Remember 1973 and 1979? When will the public wake up? Bush and
Cheney, as former oil men, have taken good care of their cronies at the
expense of the consumer. Pressure, however, has been cranked up and
prices are beginning to fall. Interesting, isn't it?
There have been disturbing allegations of collusion between the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission and Enron Corporation, the largest
electricity trader in the United States. Think Republicans want any of
this to see the light of day? Hopefully, Democrats will maintain a
stiff spine and carefully look into any and all finagling between
government and energy producers. With little to no difference between
both major political parties, it is doubtful anything will come of it.
After all, money talks...
*****"President" Wants Rudimentary Missile Defense System By End Of First Term*****
That's right. Ole' George "The Tush" Bush wants a missile defense
system in place by the end of 2004, any missile system. Whatever he can
get. -- As long as he can make a claim the project is underway. The
hell with the cost and 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty. After all,
the "President" knows best, doesn't he?
Worse yet, the buffoon and his advisers are considering an industry
proposal to deploy the interceptor missiles before the sophisticated
radar is in place. ... Or even fully developed. Test missile firings to
date have been miserable failures. Yet, the "President" wants to
handsomely line the pockets of defense contractors. -- Apparently; it's
not enough to gouge the public at the gas pump. ... Right, George?
*****U.S. Commission On Civil Rights Finds Violations In Florida Election*****
The Commission has indicated there were widespread violations of the
Voting Rights Act during the Florida election stolen by the "President"
and Republicans last year. Blacks were disproportionately found to have
had their ballots discounted. If true, it glaringly supports the
existence of closet racism.
The panel voted 6-2 to accept the findings of investigators. The two
dissenters had been appointed by Republicans. Fascinating, isn't it?
The end result is that thousands of blacks were disenfranchised.
Possibly, intentionally. The report calls for an investigation by the
Justice Department. Think the DOJ, headed by a bona fide fascist named
John Ashcroft, will aggressively investigate and prosecute?
Sadly, the GOP is in denial with its head securely up its ass.
Republicans still refuse to take personal responsibility for the
fiasco. Interesting, isn't it? A price certainly to be paid during
congressional midterm elections as well as when and if "The Tush"
decides to run for "re-election."
*****A Pound Of Flesh*****
As the last civilized nation to employ capital punishment, the United
States has once again indulged the depravity of the Fascist Right and
executed Oklahoma City Bomber Tim McVeigh. What transpired this morning
was another outrageous example of legalized murder by the state. "Do as
I say, not as I do."
Think it'll deter another murder? Remove your head from your ass.
McVeigh could have cared less, and relished dying as a martyr for the
cause. Mission accomplished. His death does no more than perversely and
immorally demonstrate killing indeed is a legitimate method of
permanently "solving" problems. -- As long as it's done by corrupt and
abusive government.
... A government that fell far short of completely investigating
and exposing all perpetrators of the bombing. With the death of this
heartless piece of human excrement, the United States has guaranteed
that all responsible will never be brought to trial.
What happened in Indiana early this morning has absolutely nothing to
do with justice. Clearly, it was no more than an act of shamelessly
sick revenge at the hands of a nauseatingly bloodthirsty public.
Indeed, Americans have nothing to be proud of regarding the McVeigh
fiasco. On the contrary, we are truly no better than the piece of shit
who killed 168 people in 1995. In fact, we're worse. Hypocritically, we
insist murder is wrong, yet arrogantly sanction and rally behind
pre-meditated state-sponsored killing done in our names. How cowardly.
*****Unbridled Fear*****
As strongly asserted in the last six Newsletters, gut-wrenching fear
generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After
all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate
defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties
who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.
Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the
death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly,
the survivor got cold feet. Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in
hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to
stand up and expose them to the light of day?
Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and
abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another
nail is driven into the coffin of liberty. If you don't have the
courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer
continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to
expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
Despite the lack of financial assistance from a cowardly and
selfish community, the Llano Ledger and Llano Ledger 2 visitor count
stands in excess of 116,000. ... Over two years, now. For what?
