Publisher's Note: This publication receives no financial support through advertising.  Although shaken down, looted, and abused by corrupt government, area businesses remain unwilling to stand up.  Locals are too gutless to donate financially, cowardly fearing retribution.  For this publication to survive, national readers need to contribute.  Liberty In Peril is, has been, and will always remain beholden to NO ONE. -- Precisely why there is no financial assistance.  ... From day of launch and certainly a no-brainer to this very day, firmly resolved to walk away first rather than compromise principle. -- To the chagrin of many and delight of few.    T.C. (5-7-13).

For new readers:  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

No matter what, no matter where, this publication will remain up and running.  For it to remain centered here, however, financial and/or material support must be provided.  Status quo, unsustainable. Time to step up.  Now.

... Hey, Sheriff? Is it true Llano County Attorney Becky Lange has advised you to stay out of the "Berardi Property Rights Denial-Damage To Pace Arrow-Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764" fiasco?  That right, Bill?  Isn't that obstruction of justice?  Also true your deputies have advised the Bolens to accept the status quo and not force the no-trespassing issue with Greene?  If so, isn't that also obstruction and official oppression?  When will you do your job, Bill?  As an elected official, you answer to the public, forget?  -- No honor?  ... No honor at all? If the foregoing allegations are indeed true, didn't you swear an oath to uphold the law and Constitution?  Why aren't you doing so?  No guts?

Your deputy has been accused of abusing authority.  What action have you taken other than ignore the complaint?  Why aren't both Rodriguez and the County Attorney under criminal investigation?  The County Attorney appears to be obstructing justice, accepting the word of Greene in lieu of two surveyor companies who strongly assert otherwise.  Both the County Attorney and District Attorney have ignored complaints.  Par for the course in Llano County, isn't it?  Failed to do their jobs.  No surprise there, right, Bill?  Both receiving 'special consideration' up to and/or including a bribe from Greene?  Regardless, clearly, no justice in Nazi Llano County.  Bottom line?  Desperate need for an outside criminal investigation.  Conveniently, forget?  This County is ruled by men, certainly not rule of law and the United States Constitution.

Precisely, why there is desperate need for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, and prosecute criminal law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose only mandate would be to adjudicate such cases.  Total independence.  Until that happens, the criminal bastards who falsely believe they run and own this hell hole County will continue to do as they please.

Some salient quotes occurring later on in this edition vis a vis unfinished business County officials continue to ignore:

... "No justice.  Precisely, why there is desperate need for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, and prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court that would adjudicate only these cases.  Total independence.  The only way to rein in these criminals, particularly the murderers in blue.

Sadly, the achingly clueless bastards in law enforcement don't need a legitimate reason to kill.  Enjoy carte blanche to murder on the job.  Nearly always, with impunity.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Sue the living shit out of the jackbooted motherf--kers, the department, and the city.  Any officer engaged in, or threatening this kind of unnecessary violence needs to be criminally prosecuted.  Not protected and coddled.  Not put on paid leave, -- no more than a paid vacation.  Not sent home without pay to catch up on his beauty sleep.

Firing is egregiously insufficient.  How can the law enforcement community be trusted?  No foreign power, no terrorist organization, not even the criminal element presents a greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than the criminal jackbooted bastards in law enforcement.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Madam County Attorney?  "Sonny Boy?"

These are extremely dangerous times for our formerly great country.  ... Hear the rumble?  An unwanted dreaded second American revolution catastrophically looming.  -- As our legislators and other government officials figuratively 'fiddle while Rome burns.'

Not good enough.  Nowhere near.  Short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, only one way for these atrocities to end.  Again, time for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose sole function would be to adjudicate such cases.  Total independence.

Local  and state authorities are egregiously incapable of handling these cases. Tend to protect their own.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Goes with the territory, doesn't it, Bill?  Precisely, why there is no faith or trust in your criminal jackbooted bastards.  Local authorities here in Nazi Llano County have their heads figuratively, securely lodged so far up their clueless ass their eyeballs are turning inside out.  Protect and coddle your clueless, out of control officers.  Imagine that.

Unadulterated, blatant ongoing horse shit.  ... Right, Bill?  F--k these jackbooted bastards.  Aren't worth a crap.  Continually abrogate their oaths of office to protect and defend the United States Constitution.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Includes not only deputies, but the brass as well.  No principles.  No honor.  Lying, conniving, abusive, murderous jackbooted thieving thugs.  The American Civil Liberties Union needs to step up and represent the victims of abusive law enforcement.

To say nothing of innocent civilians all across our formerly great country who are victimized by abusive police.  Need far better representation than a public defender.  Forget?  It's how the bastards in government line government coffers.  All too often, looting the innocent.  Those on the bottom of the food chain.  ... Right, Sheriff?

No justice.  The American Way.  Nazi America.  When is this shit finally going to end?  All of it.  Wake up, Sheriff.  Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office?  Four hundred eight weeks, now.  A goddamned disgrace.

Why are you still sitting on this information?  What are you hiding, Sheriff?  What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise?  Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons?  Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.  Who the hell are they?

When will the goddamned 'law' 'enforcement' community finally stop making excuses for engaging in outrageous criminal activity including blatant murder, violent assault, sexual assault, theft, drug trafficking, etc.?  List can go on and on.  Protecting its own no matter what it does or doesn't do?  Convenient, isn't it, Sheriff?  Again, no foreign power, no terrorist organization, not even the criminal element presents a greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than all branches and levels of government, -- including law enforcement.

Corruption within law enforcement remains an existential threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.  So what else is new?  ... Right, Bill?  Same old duplicitous, aggressively stupid shit occurs right here in Nazi Llano County.  ... Doesn't it, Sheriff?

Think it'll change any time soon?  Don't hold your breath, readers.  Not how things work in Nazi America, right, Sheriff?  Highly reminiscent of how your goons operate though, isn't it, Bill?  Forget?  'Stupid is as stupid does.'  F--ked up is f--ked up no matter where, no matter how.  Problem throughout all law enforcement.

Including right here in Nazi Llano County, right, Sheriff?  Too many officers clearly have their heads securely lodged where the sun seldom shines.  Egregious insanity continues to be perpetrated by the criminal jackbooted bastards in blue.  Ongoing issue.  All over our formerly great country.

Not just in Dallas as in the Guyger case, but all over the nation.  No end to it.  Surprised?  Why?  In today's increasingly national socialist climate anything goes, right, Bill?  Live in a de facto fascist police-state, quickly transitioning to the Trump nazi's Fourth Reich.  Certainly, a problem here in Nazi Llano County, isn't it, Sheriff?  Your goons, however, aren't held accountable when they egregiously f--k up.  Ever.

Precisely why you refuse to release information on your deputies to the long-suffering public? That is, employment history, criminal background, results of drug testing, etc..  ... Got to protect your criminal jackbooted thugs preying on the citizenry with virtual impunity, right, sir?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to a Kingsland property owner?  To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.  Why are you protecting this clueless son of a bitch, Sheriff?

Why hasn't he been prosecuted for official oppression?  Where is financial compensation for the damage this jackbooted piece of human excrement is responsible for? Ferociously pointedly, why are the District Attorney and the County Attorney continuing to protect this jackbooted piece of shit?  He and others like him present an exigent threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

Equally to the point, why are your jackbooted pieces of human excrement refusing to enforce Berardi's property rights?  Your goons have failed to take action against Theresa Ahrens when she tore down a no trespassing sign and barrier on Berardi's property.  Have you, your goons, and/or Madam County Attorney been bribed by Johnny Greene?

Ahrens frequently drives all the way through Berardi's property.  Coup de grace?  When Berardi complained to Llano County Deputy Idle about the trespassing, the officer's response was insane.  Said the Sheriff told him to tell Berardi since Ahrens believes she owns his property she can't be charged with trespassing.  Perfect Catch-22, right, Sheriff?  You're not fit for office, Bill.  Bribed by Johnny Greene?

Why is Theresa Ahrens allowed by your goons to dictate what vehicles can and cannot be parked on Berardi's property?  Ahrens claims she has proof the property belongs to her where the vehicle was parked.  Has failed to produce it. Surveyors say otherwise.  Back up Berardi.  Yet, your jackbooted bastards refuse to enforce Berardi's property rights.  Why?  Somebody lining somebody's pockets, Sheriff?

Ms. Ahrens micro-mini portable 'house' is parked on an unused unmarked Llano County road.  Imagine that.  Madam County Attorney well-aware.  Has done nothing.  Shit squat.  Egregiously ignored her oath of office.  Someone bribing you, Becky?  Lining your pockets, Counselor?  Paying you not to sell the unused unmarked County road to Berardi?  Doesn't the County want and need the sale money, to say nothing of the resultant tax income?

No question, County and State agencies remain determinedly, concertedly, achingly incapable of criminal investigation of their own.  Precisely, why a new federal agency desperately needs to be created whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose sole function would be to adjudicate only such cases.  Total independence.  Certainly, go a long, long way to cleaning up this cess pool County.  Rein in the outrageously corrupt, abusive, achingly inept, self-serving assholes who run and own this hell hole.

Sheriff, you falsely claim the Kingsland County Commissioner has the authority to resolve this ongoing property rights issue.  Clearly, doesn't.  You, Madam County Attorney, and "Sonny Boy" are certainly an egregious impediment, continue to determinedly stonewall.  Someone's pockets are being lined.  Again, where's financial compensation for the damage Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 is directly responsible for to the Pace Arrow?  Why hasn't he been prosecuted for this damage, to say nothing of infringement of Berardi's property rights?  -- Just getting started, Sheriff.  Far more to come.

-- You're not doing your jobs, Sheriff.  You've got a loose vicious dog problem in Kingsland, Bill.  When will you and the troops finally do something about this ongoing issue?  Certainly, a recurring problem on Skyline, particularly on occasion at the intersection of Odessa.  Pedestrians, runners, and cyclists are at risk.  Too busy lining County coffers with bogus tickets?"

... Hey, Sheriff?  Reportedly, promote Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 to Sergeant?  If true, yet another classic example of survival of the unfittest in the law enforcement community.  Readers are reminded this is the very same idiot, clueless asshole responsible for thousands of dollars of damage to the Pace Arrow as reported in each edition of this publication.  Far more to Kingsland property owner James Berardi in a property dispute.  -- A dispute engineered by Johnny Greene, apparently financed by a bribe to the former County Attorney, current District Attorney, and Sheriff.  A federal investigation of Llano County government and the aforementioned allegedly corrupt and abusive bastards in this ongoing fiasco is desperately needed.  Tim Chorney.

Counselor:

The enclosed emails were sent to the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff, respectively, vis a vis the above matter.  Remain unanswered.  The County Attorney appears to be protecting and defending the deputy at behest of Kingsland property owner Johnny Greene.  May have received some consideration from Greene up to and including a bribe.  Are the County Attorney, Greene, and the Deputy under criminal investigation?  If not, why not?

Re:  Berardi Property Rights Denial-Damage To Pace Arrow-Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764

Counselor:

As you're well aware, we have an outrageously corrupt, abusive, achingly inept Llano County Sheriff's Office here in Nazi Llano County.  Worse, you and your office aid and abet these SS jackbooted bastards in black.  The issue at the moment is the same it's been the last six months.

How is it two surveyor companies, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, even the goddamned Sheriff himself now states Kingsland resident James Berardi owns the lots in contention all these months?

Yet, you ludicrously assert that's not the County's legal position.  It's not?  Why not?  You claim you're not a real estate expert.  Rather than accept the advice of two surveyor companies, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, and even the Sheriff himself, you've inexplicably chosen to follow the advice of property owner Johnny Greene, -- who conveniently happens to be reportedly in the oil industry.

Question to be asked.  Could you have received any 'consideration' in return, -- up to and including a bribe?  Only way to know for sure is for the District Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation.  Apparently, there has been none.  If not, why not?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to this Kingsland property owner?  To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Our achingly useless, worthless, gutless Sheriff has ignored an email vis a vis the damage this jackbooted thug is responsible for.  Interestingly, his fellow officers believe him to be an idiot.  Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized  this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot.  Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved.  Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back?  To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road?  Why hasn't she been evicted by the County?  Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens?  Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery?  Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue.  For what?  Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

How about Bolen who hasn't a pot to piss in, but was nonetheless f--ked over by Greene to say nothing of an egregiously inept County, to say nothing of you and your goddamned equally incompetent office?

None of this is going away, Counselor, -- any time soon.  Will not be swept under the carpet as all the other crap going on in this hell hole County.  Not a chance.  Expect a full expose in this publication whether or not this outrageous fiasco finally gets resolved.  Including full public exposure of both the Sheriff and his jackbooted thug.

Who are they, Sheriff? Their past history?  An ongoing investigation remains a lame bullshit excuse.  How can you and your goons be trusted when you refuse to disclose information?  Four hundred eight weeks.  Especially, your egregious failure to disclose the identity of the officers who pulled the trigger.  To cover your sorry ass, Sheriff?  Those of your thugs?  The people have a right to know what happened, how it went down.  You don't understand that, Sheriff?  Sadly, clearly, you answer to no one.  Including taxpayers.  Especially, taxpayers.

Until you and your goons come clean, doubt will remain this was indeed a good shoot.  The longer you drag your feet, the greater the doubt.  Think not?  Wake up.  Your credibility has tanked.  Isn't getting any better as this bullshit continues unabated.  Four hundred eight weeks.  Still no identification of the officers involved  ... Can't get your stories straight?  In line?  Discrepancy between LCSO and DPS? Wake up, Sheriff.  The public no longer buys the bullshit.  No longer trusts you.  On this and many, many other issues.  You have no credibility.  Absolutely, none.

Readers, this is but one of about four other highly questionable killings by law enforcement in Llano County in the last decade or so.  There was one within the City of Llano, another in a field near Fuzzy's Corner, Buchanan Dam, yet another in Point Tella, Buchanan Dam, still another in Tow.  If there are any others I may have neglected to mention, kindly email.

It's time the public be fully informed.  -- Know what we're dealing with here and how 'law' 'enforcement' operates in this hell hole County.  If these jackbooted bastards are not reined in, the life lost could be many  others courtesy of a law enforcement system that is no longer accountable to anyone.  ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

The Sheriff seems to have no clue the people who pay him and his goons are entitled to know whom is killing whom and why.  This shit always seems to be swept under the carpet.  Ignored.  The attitude of these jackbooted sons of bitches is trust us.  They can't be.  They've lied too many times.  Refuse to be accountable to anyone.  We live in a goddamned fascist police-state where law enforcement does as it pleases. Usually, with impunity.  This has to change.

The Texas Rangers have become rubber stamp to atrocities committed by law enforcement.  This also has to change.  No one is holding law enforcement accountable any longer.  No one.  No one in state or federal government. This is precisely why Ferguson triggered such an uproar.  There was no justice there.  None here.  None anywhere.  Officers are abusive, corrupt, inept.

Falsely ticket and arrest the innocent to line County coffers.  Court fees charged continue to be horrendous.  -- Aren't taxpayers already looted to pay these costs?  Aren't you not only double f--king those falsely accused, but taxpayers also hellaciously looted to pay the very same costs?   Yet, the criminal bastards in power in Llano continue to pile on the fees. This is nothing more than goddamned bullshit.  This money finds its way into the pockets of the corrupt, abusive bastards who falsely believe they run and own this hell hole.

Would you believe the last time the Sheriff's Office happened to be 'audited' during the Garrett regime, reportedly, auditors couldn't figure out what went where and why? Yet, surprise, surprise.  Nothing was done.  There has to be transparency.  There is none.  Why would these thieving bastards want any?  ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  How else could they so easily steal and loot with virtual impunity?  Worse, this reinforces jackbooted power in this goddamned, godforsaken hell hole County.

The public has a right to know the histories of the Sheriff's goons.  Clearly, the Sheriff doesn't think so.  That is, where they came from.  Why they left where they were.  What is happening here is the Sheriff is using 'personnel matters' as a convenient excuse to deny the public access to the history of outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept officers who are no more than criminals themselves.

He's protecting his outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept jackbooted bastards.  Worse, the standards imposed by sheriff's offices statewide with the exception of metropolitan counties are well below those of DPS and city police departments.  Why?  So the corruption, abuse, ineptness, and outright stealing can continue unabated?  This has to change.  ... Can't have that, can we?  Sheriff?  TL?

The public should understand Llano County authorities have it all sewn up.  Did you know the Texas Attorney General does not have the authority to investigate and prosecute County authorities on his own?  The District Attorney has to call for an investigation by the Texas Rangers.  Then, the State can prosecute if it so chooses.

Consequently?  Guess what?  Nothing will happen.  Nothing ever does.  The goddamned corruption continues unabated until you, the public, pressure authorities.  Precisely, why we all enjoy the 'best' government money can buy. Literally.  Without question, the corrupt, abusive, inept sons of bitches are all bought and paid for.  Firmly clamped to the taxpayer tit.  Dependent on money looted from innocent citizens caught in their web.  Phony fines and court costs cleverly designed to f--k the innocent and enrich the pieces of shit who falsely believe they run and own Llano County. Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

Interestingly, the former Sheriff and District Attorney were reportedly forced to retire after an outrageous scandal involving a drunk driving police officer from out of town.  Including special treatment of the drunken son of a bitch that no other citizen caught doing the same would have been afforded. An honest, honorable Llano County Deputy suffered the consequences. Forget? Great officers do not last in this hell hole County. ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

With all ongoing abuse in this goddamned County, one thing remains for damned sure.  We're just getting started, Sheriff.  You will continue to be exposed for whom and what you and your corrupt, abusive, inept jackbooted bastards have become, truly are, not what you phonies purport to be, that is, how you continue to f--k over a public you've falsely sworn to protect and defend.  -- Exposure, the only way short of an unwanted dreaded revolution to force desperately needed change in a goddamned fascist police-state. The Fourth Reich.

Have your jackbooted thugs been tested for steroids, Sheriff?  If you've nothing to hide, Bill, release the results of all drug testing.  'Personnel matters?'  Bullshit.  Looted taxpayers have the right to know.  They're footing the bill for all this goddamned corruption, abuse, ineptness. When will you and the boys end the shakedowns?  Looting of the innocent to line County coffers?  No honor at all?

Where are your swastika armbands, you fascist son of a bitch?  You and your thugs remain out of uniform.  Once again, Sheriff, and ad nauseum, did you and/or your goons pressure Schilling to exit the race?  Did you steal the election? If so, an aggressively stupid, achingly gutless public gets what it truly deserves.  One of the most corrupt, abusive, inept 'law' 'enforcement' agencies in our formerly great country.

While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception.  On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe.  She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop.  She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office.  Aggressive stupidity at a time the Kingsland business community is indeed suffering, can least afford it.  Further proof positive of the old adage 'can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid.'

Why would, why should both customers put up with this?  Think this hasn't happened to others?

Uncommon Valor.  As always, when an officer does something heroic and/or of exceptional benefit to the community, it leads in this publication.  Always.

NBC News reports:

"A Florida sheriff's deputy has been hailed as a hero for rescuing a 6-month-old baby trapped in a wrecked car and giving her lifesaving treatment, moments after witnessing a crash from his patrol car. A motorcycle going more than 100 mph sped past Charlotte County Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove just after 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and slammed into a vehicle carrying a mother and two small children in Englewood, the sheriff's office said Friday in a news release. The driver of the motorcycle was found dead at the scene, their body wedged into the rear window of the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to the release. There was crying coming from the car, officials said. "As Sgt. Musgrove rushed to check on the victims, he heard the driver yell to him, pleading to help her children," the sheriff's office said. The dramatic rescue was captured on dashcam and Musgrove's body camera."

Uncommon ValorVery best in policing.

"The terrified mother, Kayleigh Foley, can be heard in video released by the sheriff's office screaming, "My baby!" "I remember honking my horn to tell him, 'I'm alive! I'm alive! I'm here,'" she later told NBC affiliate WBBH of Fort Myers in an interview. Video shows Musgrove removing a 3-year-old child, named Ariel, from a booster seat, and Foley telling him there was another child, a baby named Lola, in the car. Musgrove flagged down a passing driver to hold Ariel. Underneath the body of the motorcyclist, Musgrove found a car seat with a baby who was apparently unconscious, the sheriff's office said. More bystanders arrived and helped move the body off the child and cut free the car seat. Video shows Musgrove quickly beginning chest compressions on Lola's tiny body until she began to breathe again. Emergency medical services then arrived and continued lifesaving treatment, before confirming they detected a pulse."

Never gave up.

"Since the crash, Musgrove has called daily to check on Lola, who remains in the intensive care unit with a brain injury, according to WBBH. Lisa Foley, Kayleigh's mother, told the news station: "The first thing he said to me, he said, 'I really hate all that recognition; I was doing my job.' I said, 'Too bad, buddy, you're getting it.' ... We will never repay him for what he did. What he did for us was life-changing."

Uncommon ValorTop of the line.

"I lost my fiancé six months ago, so what was going through my head was, 'I can't lose anybody else,'" Kayleigh Foley said in the interview from the hospital, where Lola was recovering. "He is such a genuine person and you can't teach that in the police academy."

What the public so desperately needs at this time.

"Kayleigh Foley and Ariel are doing well, the sheriff's office said. In a news conference, Musgrove said he "wanted to do as much as I could to help her." He continued: "I'm caring. We're all cops. We care. She's innocent. She didn't deserve this." Sheriff Bill Prummell commended Musgrove's actions while thanking bystanders who helped him. "His poise and calm demeanor in a scene of chaos and tragedy ultimately saved the life of a beautiful child," the sheriff said. "This was a senseless accident that resulted in a life lost, but it would have been two lives had Dave not been there."

Uncommon Valor.

Uncommon Valor.  As always, when an officer does something heroic and/or of exceptional benefit to the community, it leads in this publication.  Always.  This time two officers and a paramedic stood tall, gave their lives in service to the community.

MPR News reports:

"Burnsville, Minn.
February 18, 2024 10:00 AM

"Two Burnsville police officers and a paramedic were shot and killed early Sunday morning while responding to a call for help about a man armed and barricaded in a home with seven children inside.

"The men killed were identified by the city as officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both age 27, and 40-year-old firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth. Another officer, Sgt. Adam Medlicott, was injured and taken to a hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

"Officials said the shooter is dead and there is no ongoing threat. They didn’t say how he died. The man’s name is expected to be disclosed following an autopsy planned for Monday. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating. The children, ages 2 to 15, were able to leave the house safely after the incident ended, authorities said. But the deaths of three public servants shot and killed in the line of duty gripped Burnsville and the entire community of fire and law enforcement on Sunday."

Uncommon Valor:

"At an emotional late-afternoon press conference, Burnsville officials spoke of the men as heroes dedicated to their communities and to keeping people safe. “Today, three members of our team made the ultimate sacrifice for this community,” Tanya Schwartz, Burnsville’s police chief, told reporters. In the world of public safety, people sign up understanding they may someday have to give up their lives, she added, “and they do it anyways.” “There are no words to describe what these public safety families are going through right now,” added Fire Chief BJ Jungmann. Finseth, he said, was a paramedic trained for crisis situations — badge No. 83. Those in public safety work understand the worst might happen, but “no one expects it to happen.”

Here's what went down:

"Burnsville police were called at 1:50 a.m. to the 12600 block of 33rd Avenue South on a report of a “domestic situation where a man reported to be armed was barricaded with family members. After arriving, the situation escalated into gunfire with responders,” the city said in a statement. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans told reporters the shooter had multiple guns, a lot of ammunition and shot at first responders from several locations in the house. One of the officers, he said, was in the house when he was shot. Having young children inside the home made the situation even more harrowing, he added. The initial call for help, he said, came from someone inside the house. The suspect was already barricaded in the home when officers arrived and they spent “a lot of time” negotiating with him. Several officers did return fire but the exact exchange of gunfire that occurred still hasn’t been pieced together, Evans said as he asked for patience while the BCA pursued its investigation. Burnsville officials said Elmstrand joined the department in August 2017 as a community service officer and was promoted to officer in July 2019. He was part of the department’s mobile command staff and served on its honor guard. Ruge joined the department in April 2020 and was part of its crisis negotiations team. Finseth had been a Burnsville firefighter and paramedic since February 2019."

Uncommon Valor.

NBC News reports:

"The man who fatally shot two Minnesota police officers and a first responder over the weekend while barricaded inside a home died by suicide, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner said. Shannon Cortez Gooden was armed with several guns and large amounts of ammunition when he opened fire Sunday on law enforcement officers responding to a domestic violence call. The 38-year-old had barricaded himself inside a home in Burnsville with seven children between the ages of 2 and 15, officials said. Police were attempting to negotiate with Gooden when he shot and killed officers Paul Elmstrand, 27, and Matthew Ruge, 27, as well as Adam Finseth, 40, who worked as a firefighter and paramedic. Another officer, Adam Medlicott, was shot and injured and is expected to survive. Police responded to the home around 1:50 a.m. Sunday for "a call of a family in danger." Drew Evans, superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, said that it was a "domestic violence situation" and that the children were inside the home with the suspect. Gooden shot at the police officers from multiple areas in the home, including from the "upper portion" and the main floor, Evans said. Officers returned fire from outside the home. At least one of the officers was shot inside the home, according to Evans. Gooden was reported dead around 8 a.m. Sunday."

Interestingly, get this:

"Court records showed that Gooden was prohibited from owning firearms after he was convicted of second-degree assault in 2007, when he was 21. According to Mathew K. Higbee, his attorney at the time, the incident happened in a mall parking lot and involved a knife. In 2020, the attorney tried to reverse what he believed was a "harsh" ban, arguing that Gooden was "not a dangerous criminal" or a "potential risk to the community." In his plea, Higbee wrote that Gooden had done everything he could "to put himself back on his feet," had taken anger management classes while incarcerated and had provided for his longtime girlfriend, her two children and his five children. A judge denied the motion in 2020, according to court records. An explanation was not provided in the order. Highly reminiscent of our outrageously bought and paid for judiciary, Llano County prosecutors, Sheriff Bill Blackburn and his criminal SS jackbooted bastards in black who continue to egregiously disgrace themselves and the badge, do as they please regardless of the law and Constitution, carefully consider the following.  It's appalling.  Runs against the grain of everything our formerly great country once stood for.  No longer.

The following is an atrocity.  No excuse.  ABC News(AP) reports:

"Robert DuBoise spent 37 years in a Florida prison for a 1983 rape and murder he did not commit. Now, he's set to receive $14 million from the city of Tampa as compensation for all those lost years. DuBoise, who was 18 when the crime occurred, was initially sentenced to death for the killing of 19-year-old Barbara Grams. Although his sentence was later reduced to life in prison, it wasn't until 2018 — with help from the Innocence Project organization — that prosecutors agreed to give the case another look. DNA testing that was not available in the early 1980s pointed toward two other men in the slaying, leading to DuBoise's release from prison in 2020. Not long after that, DuBoise sued the city of Tampa, police officers who investigated the case and a forensic dentist who had testified that his teeth matched a purported bite mark on the victim. The lawsuit was settled Jan. 11 but the Tampa City Council must vote Thursday to approve it and officially award the $14 million to DuBoise, now 59. He was represented in the case by the Chicago-based Loevy & Loevy civil rights law firm, which has handled numerous wrongful conviction cases around the country."

Think he'll ever truly recover?

“The settlement is not only an acknowledgement of the harm that Mr. DuBoise suffered, but also an opportunity for him to move on with his life,” the law firm said in a statement. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in his own statement that in the years since the DuBoise case, detectives undergo better training and that advances in technology have made great strides in how such investigations are handled. “We recognize the profound and lasting effects of this case, especially on Mr. DuBoise nearly four decades later,” Bercaw said."

Do you?

"DuBoise and his law firm will get $9 million this year, $3 million next year and $2 million in 2026, according to city documents. Grams was sexually assaulted and beaten to death in August 1983 as she walked home from her job at a Tampa restaurant. A medical examiner concluded a wound on her cheek was a bite mark, leading investigators to take bite samples from a number of men including DuBoise. Notably, the wound impression was made using beeswax. The forensic dentist determined the bite came from DuBoise, even though he didn't know Grams but frequented the area where her body was found. The dentist testified as part of DuBoise's lawsuit that he no longer believes bite marks can be matched directly to an individual person, according to the city council resolution about the settlement."

Pitiful.  Pathetic.  Clearly, the forensic dentist didn't know what he was doing.  This man spent four decades in prison for a crime he did not commit.

"Decades later, the DNA testing pointed to Amos Robinson and Abron Scott, both of whom are serving life prison sentences for a different killing. They are both awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges in the Grams case. A prison informant's testimony that DuBoise confessed to killing Grams was also later discredited. The city denied in the settlement that any of its police officers were guilty of intentional wrongdoing, as DuBoise had contended in the lawsuit."

No accountability.  What a crock of shit.

"DuBoise walked out of a Florida prison in August 2020."

Why did it take approximately three and a half years to get to this point?

"I prayed to God every day and hoped for it,” DuBoise said moments after his release. At a court hearing a month later in which the case was finally dropped, DuBoise said he's had a hard time trusting the judicial system “because I’ve had a lot of roadblocks thrown in my path.” Now, he said he believes justice has been done. “There are really true-hearted people in these offices now,” DuBoise said. “It’s been amazing. I’m just very grateful to all of you.”

Border Patrol alleged misconduct.  The Washington Post reports:

"The acting deputy chief of the U.S. Border Patrol was suspended on misconduct allegations Thursday and departed U.S. Customs and Border Protection headquarters in downtown Washington, three CBP officials said. Joel Martinez, who was named the second-ranking Border Patrol official in January, is a 31-year veteran of the Border Patrol, according to his CBP biography. Agency officials declined to provide details about Martinez’s alleged wrongdoing, citing privacy laws, but said he was not under arrest. Additional details were not immediately available."

No transparencyTaxpayers deserve better.

"In a statement, CBP spokesperson Erin Waters said the agency does “not tolerate misconduct within our ranks.” “When we discover any alleged or potential misconduct, we immediately refer it for investigation and cooperate fully with any criminal or administrative investigations,” Waters said. “Federal privacy laws prohibit discussion of individual cases.”

No transparencyTaxpayers deserve better.

"Martinez, a native of San Benito, Tex., was chief of the Laredo, Tex., sector before his most recent promotion. He previously held leadership positions in the agency’s Rio Grande Valley and Big Bend sectors. The Border Patrol is one of two main branches of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the nation’s largest federal law enforcement agency, with more than 60,000 officers, agents and other personnel. CBP’s internal affairs division, the Office of Professional Responsibility, completed more than 800 investigations into alleged misconduct during the 2022 fiscal year, the most recent for which data is available. The investigations resulted in 18 criminal arrests, 10 convictions and 152 administrative sanctions, according to CBP."

No transparencyTaxpayers deserve better.

In follow-up to another horrendous case covered earlier here and elsewhere, The Washington Post reports:

"After a four-day trial, a jury found a Prince George’s County sheriff’s deputy guilty of second-degree rape in the assault of a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship, Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said at a news conference Friday. Cpl. Brandon Joel Burroughs will be sentenced in May. Braveboy said officers are not exempt from the law."

Goddamned right.  They're not.

“We’re talking about violation of an individual in the worst possible way. When you rape someone, you’re trying to take away their dignity,” she said. An attorney listed for Burroughs did not immediately respond to a request for comment."

Not possible to credibly defend the indefensible.

"The assault occurred on Oct. 22, 2022, according to the county sheriff’s office. The victim said Burroughs contacted her that day and asked whether he could come over. She agreed. While at her home, the two had an argument, according to court documents. Burroughs followed her into different rooms and refused to leave when asked. He forced the woman off her clothes and repeatedly struck her before raping her. Burroughs then left. The next day, the woman reached out to the Prince George’s County Commissioner’s Office and obtained a protective order. “This is no form or fashion was ever her fault,” Assistant State’s Attorney Chanel Jackson said. “I commend her for her courage” in coming forward."

No question.

"Burroughs had been suspended without pay and placed on a no-duty status. Sheriff John D.B. Carr said that the internal investigation has been completed and that his department is moving forward in accordance with the Police Accountability Act of 2021 to address Burroughs’s employment at the sheriff’s office. Carr said his department has handed details of the investigation to the Police Accountability Board and was waiting for it to hear the administrative portion of the case, but the criminal portion came first. Carr said he is awaiting word from the board on when a hearing will be held. “Our first and foremost concern is dealing with our survivor of this incident and our community,” Carr said. “No one wearing a uniform is above the law. We are here to serve you.”

In a democratic republic, no one is above the law.  No one.

A corrupt FBI official receives justice?  Think so?   NPR News(AP) reports:

"A former high-ranking FBI counterintelligence official was sentenced on Friday to more than two years in prison for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash from a businessman with ties to the Albanian government — and trying to conceal their corrupt financial relationship."

Sounds like a slap on the wrist.

"Charles McGonigal, 55, supervised national security operations for the FBI in New York for nearly two years before his retirement in 2018. He appeared to advance Albanian interests in the U.S. after he asked for and received roughly $225,000 in 2017 from a man who had worked for an Albanian intelligence agency, prosecutors said."

A bribe.

"U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly sentenced McGonigal to two years and four months in prison for the case brought in Washington, D.C. She ordered him to serve it consecutively to a 50-month prison sentence for a separate case in New York, so he is facing a total of six years and six months when he reports to prison next month."

Think it justice?  Think the following credible?  Or, no more than disingenuous bullshit?

"McGonigal expressed remorse and sorrow for what he called "mistakes," saying he betrayed the confidence and trust of his loved ones. "For the rest of my life, I will be fighting to regain that trust and become a better person," he told Kollar-Kotelly before she imposed his sentence. The judge told McGonigal that it appears he "lost his moral compass" at the end of a distinguished FBI career, when he held one of the highest national security positions in the federal government. She said his remorse seemed genuine."

Truly, think so?  ... Or, that he got caught?

"Unfortunately, it doesn't repair the damage," she added."

Goddamned right.

"Justice Department prosecutors had recommended sentencing McGonigal to a prison term of two years and six months for the Washington case alone."

Nowhere near enough for an official at the very top of the food chain.  The bastard certainly knew better.

"Abusing the public trust is particularly egregious when, as here, the motivation was pure greed and the defendant is a law enforcement officer charged with enforcing the very same laws he flagrantly violated," they wrote in a court filing."

Precisely, why the sentence was nowhere near enough.

"In December, a federal judge in New York sentenced McGonigal to four years and two months in prison for conspiring to violate sanctions on Russia by going to work for a Russian oligarch whom he once investigated. The oligarch, billionaire industrialist Oleg Deripaska, was under U.S. sanctions for reasons related to Russia's occupation of Crimea."

Protected and coddled the son of a bitch.

"McGonigal was scheduled to report to prison next month to begin serving his sentence in the New York case. His lawyers urged the judge in Washington to refrain from imposing more prison time, arguing that he already has received a "just punishment" for his crimes."

What a crock of shit.  The bastard was protected and coddled.

"His fall from grace has been precipitous, having lost his job, his reputation and the peace of his family life, and he now faces the stark prospect of the 50-month sentence he is about to begin serving," his defense attorneys wrote."

Crock of shit.  No credibility.  The bastard was protected and coddled.

Gets worse.  Get this:

"McGonigal was separately charged with concealing his ties to the former Albanian official, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was living in New Jersey. McGonigal has said that he borrowed the $225,000 to launch a security consulting business after he retired from the FBI. He didn't repay the loan."

How about that?

"In 2017, McGonigal flew to Albania with his benefactor and met with a former Albanian energy minister and the country's prime minister. McGonigle warned the prime minister to avoid awarding oil field drilling licenses in Albania to Russian front companies, according to prosecutors. They say McGonigal's travel companion and the energy minister had financial stakes in the Albanian government's decisions about the drilling licenses. McGonigal pleaded guilty last September to concealing material facts, a charge punishable by a maximum prison sentence of five years. He admitted that he failed to report the loan, his travel in Europe with the person who lent him the money or his contacts with foreign officials during the trips. "He put his own greed above service to his country," a prosecutor, Elizabeth Aloi, said Friday."

No question.  Precisely, why the sentence was outrageously inadequate.

"Defense attorney Seth Ducharme urged the judge to let McGonigal serve his two prison sentences simultaneously. McGonigal didn't need more prison time beyond his 50-month sentence in New York "to serve the ends of justice," Ducharme argued. "He didn't betray his country. He broke the law," the attorney said."

What a crock of shit.  Expect better of a shyster?

"The FBI had to review many other investigations to determine whether McGonigal compromised any of them during his tenure. "The defendant worked on some of the most sensitive and significant matters handled by the FBI. His lack of credibility, as revealed by his conduct underlying his offense of conviction, could jeopardize them all," prosecutors wrote."

Precisely, why the sentence was egregiously inadequate.

"McGonigal expressed remorse in a statement submitted to the court. "I keep wishing this was all a bad dream I could simply wake up from," he wrote."

The above is not credible.  This man was at the very top of the FBI food chain.  Certainly, knew what was at stake.  Betrayed his country to line his pockets.

The Washington Post reports:

"The FBI’s former top spy hunter in New York was sentenced in Washington on Friday to 28 months in prison for concealing at least $225,000 in payments he received from a former Albanian intelligence official while working for the bureau. Charles McGonigal will serve his punishment on top of a 50-month prison term he received separately in New York last year for illegally conspiring with a Russian oligarch who wanted to be removed from a U.S. sanctions list. McGonigal, 55, is one of the highest-ranking FBI agents ever convicted of criminal charges, and federal prosecutors on Friday urged U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly to stack the sentences after the 22-year veteran of the bureau admitted to committing the very violations he was sworn to investigate. “This is a very serious offense,” Kollar-Kotelly said, one that tarnished the integrity of the FBI, risked the credibility of all the cases he handled and abused the public trust at a time government institutions are under fire. “The motive could only be greed,” she said, as McGonigal lost his “moral compass.” “I don’t understand frankly why you would simply throw away your career at that moment for the money,” the judge said, noting he would have maintained a “handsome” private income after an “illustrious” career."

Sadly, greed rules.  Oath of office means shit squat.

"McGonigal was special agent in charge of the counterintelligence division of the FBI’s New York City office from 2016 to his retirement in September 2018. He admitted that he hid from the FBI his receipt of payments from Albanian American Agron Neza, a former Albanian intelligence officer, and his meetings with foreign officials including Albanian prime minister Edi Rama. McGonigal said he sought to avoid questions about a conflict of interest between his official duties and private plans to build his post-retirement business opportunities in that country. In a parallel federal prosecution in Manhattan, McGonigal earlier admitted conspiring to launder money and violate U.S. sanctions intended to punish Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, an oligarch with ties to President Vladimir Putin. In his role at the FBI, McGonigal had been tasked with investigating Deripaska, whose own indictment on sanctions-violation charges was unsealed a few months before McGonigal’s."

The hypocrisy?  Outrageous.  Unconscionable.

"McGonigal now has been sentenced to a combined 6½ years behind bars for the two offenses, although Kollar-Kotelly did not add to the $40,000 fine and three years post-release supervision."

Nowhere near good enough.  He was at the very top of the food chain at the FBI.

"The allegations against McGonigal shocked the hush-hush world of his fellow top U.S. intelligence officials, and forced an extensive damage assessment by authorities given his depth of knowledge about U.S. espionage practices and extraordinary access to sensitive information. Of particular concern was his access to investigations of foreign spies or U.S. citizens suspected of working on behalf of foreign governments, as well as the loss of U.S. agents overseas. McGonigal participated in one 7½ hour debriefing in which U.S. officials deemed him truthful, but declined a second requested session because of what his attorney, Seth DuCharme, said were unacceptable conditions."

That right?  What conditions?

"In a 90-minute sentencing hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Aloi called McGonigal’s concealment of payments, “at its core, corruption that undermines transparency and trust in the integrity of the executive branch of government.” She said McGonigal “sold his badge for $225,000” and “betrayed his country,” as a lawman who was “sworn to investigate and prevent crimes against the United States, not perpetrate them.”

No question.  Precisely, why the sentence is so goddamned inadequate.

"Under a plea deal in his payments case in Washington, McGonigal admitted to one count of concealing material evidence. Prosecutors dropped eight other charges: two counts of falsifying records or documents in his disclosure reports to the FBI and six additional counts of concealing material facts or making false statements to investigators."

Protected and coddled the son of a bitch.  Sad, isn't it?  Top of the FBI food chain.

"McGonigal’s work on Deripaska’s behalf began in 2019, when he was legitimately employed as a consultant and investigator by a law firm trying to undo the aluminum magnate’s U.S. sanctions listing. But McGonigal admitted that over several months in 2021, he took on additional investigative assignments for which he received what he knew were illegal payments from a Cyprus bank filtered through a New Jersey company."

How about that?  Egregiously betrayed his oath of office.

"McGonigal was tasked with digging up dirt on a rival Russian oligarch, Vladimir Potanin, with whom Deripaska had vied for control over Russia’s giant industrial metals companies after they were privatized in the 1990s. After the Russian occupation of Crimea, however, Deripaska was barred from doing business with U.S. banks and other entities. Nevertheless, McGonigal negotiated with a Deripaska associate for $25,000 monthly payments to be sent to an account controlled by Sergey Shestakov, an interpreter for the U.S. government who was a former Russian diplomat. Shestakov was charged with McGonigal and has pleaded not guilty, and faces trial in June in Manhattan on charges of conspiracy, violating U.S. sanctions law, money laundering and making false statements."

The following is truly appalling:

"Defense attorneys DuCharme and Meagan Maloney urged the judge to credit McGonigal’s distinguished service with the FBI, in which he prevented a New York City subway attack, responded to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan and U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa and handled other cases that remain classified. DuCharme bristled at Aloi’s claim that McGonigal betrayed his country, and argued unsuccessfully for a concurrent sentence by saying his client “shouldn’t be punished twice for the same thing.” DuCharme said that McGonigal “used his business network before he retired to get his business launched,” broke the law, and should have filled out his FBI financial and travel disclosure forms, but he was never accused of espionage. “I stand before you with a deep sense of remorse and sorrow for my actions,” McGonigal told the judge, for which he accepted full responsibility and accountability. He apologized for the pain and sorrow he caused his former FBI colleagues, friends and family — especially his wife and two children in their early 20s — and expressed “shame at the embarrassment I caused the FBI.”

Not good enough.  Nowhere near.

Think the carnage will ever end?

ABC News(AP) reports:

"A Connecticut state trooper who killed a 19-year-old man while firing seven gunshots into a stopped car in 2020 is set to stand trial for manslaughter."

Why did it take four years to prosecute?

"Jury selection is scheduled to begin Wednesday in the trial of Trooper Brian North. North has pleaded not guilty to first-degree manslaughter with a firearm in the death of Mubarak Soulemane in West Haven. Soulemane had stolen a ride-sharing car and led officers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 95 before North opened fire into the driver’s window at close range on the evening of Jan. 15, 2020, according to authorities. North told investigators he fired because Soulemane had a knife and appeared to be readying to attack other officers on the other side of the car. But Inspector General Robert Devlin, whose office investigates all uses of deadly force by police in Connecticut, concluded the shooting was not justified. “At the time Trooper North fired his weapon, neither he nor any other person was in imminent danger of serious injury or death from a knife attack at the hands of Soulemane,” Devlin wrote in a report. “Further, any belief that persons were in such danger was not reasonable.” Devlin, a former state judge, decided to charge North despite noting in his report that two experts consulted by a previous prosecutor who investigated the shooting concluded North was justified. Soulemane’s family, the NAACP and other groups said North, who is white, should not have shot Soulemane, who was Black, because police had him surrounded and he could not get away. Despite having a knife, Soulemane was inside the car by himself and police should have attempted to de-escalate the situation, they said."

Why four years of stonewalling?  Protecting and coddling the murderous bastard?

“After four years, the family is eager for the criminal trial to finally get underway,” Mark Arons, a lawyer for Soulemane's family, said in a  statement. Soulemane’s mother, Omo Mohammed, has said she wants to see North convicted and sent to prison. She is suing North and other officers."

Needs to.

"The inspector general's office, through a spokesperson, declined to comment on the upcoming trial and referred to Devlin's report. A message seeking comment was left for North's lawyer. Soulemane was a community college student who had schizophrenia, his family said. On the day of the shooting, Jan. 15, 2020, Soulemane, whose mental health appeared to have deteriorated in the days before he was killed, tried unsuccessfully to steal a cellphone from a store in Norwalk and fled in a car he stole from a Lyft driver, Devlin’s report said. Soulemane led police on a chase of nearly 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Norwalk to West Haven that reached speeds of 100 mph (161 kph) on Interstate 95, the report said."

Doesn't justify his killing.  Here's why:

"In West Haven, state police said Soulemane took an exit, rear-ended a civilian’s vehicle and was immediately boxed in by police. Police said the officers ordered him out of the car, but he refused. State police body camera videos show a West Haven officer smashing out the passenger door window of the stolen car before another trooper shoots Soulemane with a stun gun, which didn’t work. North then fired his handgun seven times through the driver’s door window when Soulemane displayed the knife, state police said."

An execution.

"After being charged in 2022, North was placed on paid administrative leave and his police powers were suspended."

A paid 'vacation.'

"The state police union has said it disagrees with Devlin's decision to prosecute North, saying North was trying to protect the other officers."

Crock of shit.  Goddamned pitiful.  Pathetic.

Think the carnage will ever end?

ABC News reports:

"The Los Angeles Police Department released body camera footage Tuesday that shows a police officer shooting and killing a man who charged at him while holding a plastic fork earlier this month. The Feb. 3 incident that killed 36-year-old Jason Lee Maccani is under investigation by the state Department of Justice, according to Police Chief Michel Moore, who told the Police Commission last week he had "concerns relative to the actions of the officer involved." Authorities were called to the 800 block of East 7th Street, near the Skid Row area of Los Angeles, on Feb. 3 around 2:20 p.m., local time, according to Captain Kelly Muniz. Muniz notes that a business owner at a warehouse in the area called police after a man was allegedly threatening employees with a stick. He was believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident, Muniz said. In the 911 audio released Tuesday, the business owner said the suspect was "getting aggressive." When authorities arrived, Maccani went into an office on the fourth floor of the warehouse where he had access to "sharp objects," the business owner told police, according to Muniz. In security footage released by LAPD, six officers are seen approaching the office where Maccani had retreated. Police say they gave "verbal commands" for Maccani to exit the location with his hands raised. Officers then ordered Maccani to turn around and walk backward toward them, according to Muniz. Maccani initially complied but then turned and "charged" toward the officers, Muniz said."

Think the following credible?  Get this:

"One of the officers observed Maccani holding what he believed to be a screwdriver and deployed a less-lethal 40mm projectile launcher at Maccani and another officer fired two rounds of a beanbag shotgun at him, Muniz said, but noted the less-lethal methods were not effective. Maccani continued to advance toward the officers and made contact with one of the officers, grabbing the beanbag shotgun, according to Muniz. Maccani was then shot by another officer's gunfire, taken to the ground, and taken to the hospital where he later died, according to Muniz. The object initially believed to be a screwdriver or knife turned out to be a white plastic fork."

How about that?  Couldn't be the officers lied, could it?  Officers would never lie to cover their sorry asses, would they?  LOL.

Uncommon Valor.  Very best in humanity.  Widow of Alexei Navalny stands tall at great personal risk.

NPR reports:

"Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of slain opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has announced she will continue her husband's work promoting democratic change in Russia."

Uncommon Valor.  Stood tall.  As did her late, murdered husband.

"I have no right to give up. I will continue the work of Alexei Navalny," said Navalnaya, 47, in an emotional video posted to the YouTube channel of her late husband. "I will continue to fight for our country and I urge you to stand next to me," she added forcefully. In announcing her new role, Navalnaya made clear she blames Russian President Vladimir Putin for the death of her husband in a remote Russian prison colony Friday under unclear circumstances. "There should have been another person in my place, but this person was killed by Vladimir Putin," she said. Navalnaya's announcement came as she was due to attend a gathering of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels – where the topic of additional sanctions on the Kremlin leader over complicity in Navalny's death was expected to be discussed. It also came as Russian authorities continued to prevent Navalny's family from gaining access to his body — a move that Navalnaya said was intended to cover up evidence of a crime."

No question.

"Navalnaya said her husband's investigative team was at work identifying the cause of death and to reveal the identity of all those implicated in what she insists was his murder. "We will not only reveal [the murderers'] names, but show you their faces," said Navalnaya."

Uncommon Valor.  Top of the line.  As it did her murdered husband, this could get her killed by the Putin dictator and his goons.  ... At a time when Democrats are too gutless to stand up in opposition to the Trump nazi.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

"Navalnaya was often a fixture at her husband's side throughout his career in opposition politics — not only when Navalny gave speeches, but as he endured arrests, criminal trials, poisonings and physical attacks."

Stood tall as did her murdered husband.  ... What Americans used to do decades ago.  We've lost ourselves.  Lost our way.  Gutlessly, fail to effectively stand up to an autocratic nazi dictator named Donald Trump who insists on emulating Adolf Hitler.  Thousands of our troops never returned home fighting this Nazi bastard.  Second World War European theater.  Not to neglect to mention the carnage in Korea, Vietnam, and elsewhere throughout the world.  Think we'll ever smarten up?

"A Russian gossip tabloid labeled her "the first lady of the opposition" in 2021 — a reflection of growing attention to Navalny's rising fame and Navalnaya's glamour and style. In reality, she was always more: Navalny's closest friend and advisor. Navalnya was born Yulia Abrosimova in Moscow in 1976. According to Russian media reports, her father was a research scientist and her mother was employed at the Soviet central economic planning agency, Gosplan. Abrosimova later earned a degree in economics at the prestigious Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow and began a career in banking. Yet her life and career took a turn when she met a young lawyer named Alexei Navalny while on vacation in Turkey in 1998. Navalny was smitten as Abrosimova casually dropped the names of all government ministers during their conversations about life in Russia, according to press reports. Two years later they were married and on their way to having two children. "I didn't marry him because he was a promising lawyer and I didn't marry him for being an opposition leader," said Navalnaya in a 2020 interview. "I married a young man named Alexei — a person with whom, from the very beginning, it was clear that there would be tough moments in life," she added. "And for that reason, nothing unexpected has ever happened."

Sadly, the following could get her murdered by Putin and his goons.  Uncommon Valor:

"And yet with her husband now gone, Navalnaya is clearly setting out on her own unexpected trajectory: urging Russians to join her in fighting the Kremlin to reclaim their country. "Putin not only killed the man called Alexei Navalny," she said, "he also wanted to kill our hopes, our freedom and our future."

We need to do the same here in the United States.  There is no greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than the autocratic Trump nazi.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

The Washington Post reports:

"Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Alexei Navalny, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s most formidable opponent, vowed on Monday to carry on her husband’s crusade against the Russian regime, striving to build “a free, peaceful, happy Russia, a beautiful Russia of the future, which my husband dreamed of so much.”

Uncommon  Valor.  Sadly, could get her murdered by the Putin dictator and his goons at it did her husband.

"Navalnaya, 47, made her announcement in a video statement on YouTube, in which she accused Russian authorities of fatally poisoning Navalny in the Arctic prison where he died suddenly on Friday at age 47. “Putin did not only murder the person, Alexei Navalny,” she said, clad in black and her voice occasionally trembling during the dramatic video address. “He wanted, along with him, to kill our hope, our freedom, our future.” Navalnaya also accused the Russian authorities of refusing to hand over Navalny’s body to his 69-year-old mother so they could cover up the cause of death. “They lie pathetically, and wait for the traces of another Putin’s Novichok to disappear there,” said Navalnaya, referring to the class of nerve agent that international investigators said Russian security agents used in an August 2020 attempt to assassinate her husband. “My husband could not be broken, and that’s exactly why Putin killed him, in the most cowardly way,” she continued. “He did not have the courage to look him in the eye or even say his name. And now they are also cowardly, hiding his body, not showing him to his mother, not giving it to her.” Three days after Navalny’s sudden death Friday, the location of his body was still unclear, and his mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, was again rebuffed by morgue officials in the Arctic town of Salekhard, 33 miles from the prison colony where he died, Navalny’s press secretary said. Navalny’s grieving family and political team have demanded the return of his remains since Saturday but have faced an extended, almost surreal, struggle to recover his body or even to establish its location — with Russian officials seemingly determined to obstruct any independent investigation into the cause of death."

Not possible to credibly defend the indefensible.

"Navalnaya was in Brussels on Monday to address European Union foreign ministers who invited her in a show of solidarity, and as a follow-up to her emotional appearance at the Munich Security Conference on Friday, shortly after the news broke of her husband’s death. At the meeting in Brussels, she sat next to the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, surrounded by diplomats and officials, looking exhausted but determined."

Uncommon Valor.

“Vladimir Putin & his regime will be held accountable for the death of Alexei,” Borrell posted on X, formerly Twitter. “As Yulia said, Putin is not Russia. Russia is not Putin.” A European diplomat said Navalnaya called on the European Union to sanction 500 Russian oligarchs supporting Putin’s reelection, to prevent sanctions evasion by Russia’s elite, and she urged efforts to map the financial flows from Putin’s inner circle. Navalnaya also met with European Council President Charles Michel. Across Russia on Monday, initial crackdowns on mourners displaying their grief in public appeared to ease. By 7:15 p.m., 32 people had been detained in 16 cities and towns, according to a watchdog group, OVD-Info, which tracks arrests. In all, about 400 people have been detained since Friday, the group said. In Moscow on Monday night, a steady trickle of mourners continued to pay respects to Navalny by laying flowers at the Solovetsky stone, a memorial for victims of the Soviet gulags, under the watchful eye of a dozen or so police officers. Heaps of red roses and carnations covered the monument, framing portraits of Navalny."

Uncommon Valor.

"In her video statement, Navalnaya vowed that she and her husband’s team would find out those directly responsible for her husband’s death and expose exactly how it was done. “We’ll name names and show faces. But the main thing we can do for Alexei and for ourselves is to keep fighting,” she said. “I will continue the work of Alexei Navalny,” Navalnaya proclaimed. She also directly addressed one of the resonant questions in the West about her husband: Why did he return to Russia in 2021 risking arrest and death, when he could have lived peacefully in exile? “He could not,” she said, fighting back tears. “Alexei loved Russia more than anything else in the world, loved our country, loved you. He believed in us, in our strength, in our future and in the fact that we deserve the best.”

Trump held accountable.  Will it stand?  NBC News reports:

"The judge who presided over a civil business fraud trial against Donald Trump on Friday ordered the former president, his sons, business associates and company to pay over $350 million in damages and temporarily limited their ability to do business in New York. Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $354 million in damages, and bars Trump "from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years."

Only three years?  For massive fraud?

"He also continued "the appointment of an Independent Monitor" and ordered "the installation of an Independent Director of Compliance" for the company. During the trial, Trump and executives at his company, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, attempted to blame exaggerated financial statements that were the heart of the AG's case on the accountants who compiled them. Engoron disagreed. "There is overwhelming evidence from both interested and non-interested witnesses, corroborated by documentary evidence, that the buck for being truthful in the supporting data valuations stopped with the Trump Organization, not the accountants," he wrote. The judge also cited the lack of remorse by Trump and his executives after the fraud was discovered as showing the need for a monitor. "Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological. They are accused only of inflating asset values to make more money. The documents prove this over and over again. This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin. Defendants did not commit murder or arson. They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff. Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways," Engoron wrote. "Defendants’ refusal to admit error — indeed, to continue it, according to the Independent Monitor — constrains this Court to conclude that they will engage in it going forward unless judicially restrained," he added."

Likely do as they please no matter what.  LOL.

"The ruling also bars the Trump sons — who've been running the company since their father went to the White House — “from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of two years.”

That all, -- especially in light of the following?  Get this:

"Trump Jr. tweeted that, "We’ve reached the point where your political beliefs combined with what venue your case is heard are the primary determinants of the outcome; not the facts of the case! It’s truly sad what’s happened to our country."

What a crock of shit.  A congenital liar like the old bastard.

"Trump attorney Alina Habba called the verdict "a manifest injustice — plain and simple." "Given the grave stakes, we trust that the Appellate Division will overturn this egregious verdict and end this relentless persecution against my clients," she said in a statement."

Expect better of a shyster?

"A spokesperson for Trump Organization called the ruling "a gross miscarriage of justice. The Trump Organization has never missed any loan payment or been in default on any loan."

Does not mean there was no fraud.  Wake up.

"The judgment is the second this year against Trump after he was hit last month with an $83.3 million verdict in writer E. Jean Carroll's defamation case against him. The former president could also face four criminal trials this year as his presidential campaign barrels toward the November election, with the first set to begin in New York state court on March 25th. New York Attorney General Letitia James had been seeking $370 million from Trump, his company and its top executives, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, alleging "repeated and persistent fraud" that included falsifying business records and financial statements. James had argued those financial statements were at times exaggerated by as much as $2.2 billion. James contended the defendants used the inflated financial statements to obtain bank loans and insurance policies at rates he otherwise wouldn’t have been entitled to and "reaped hundreds of millions of dollars in ill-gotten gains."

Raw insanity:

"Trump had maintained his financial statements were conservative, and has called the AG's allegations politically motivated and a "fraud on me." "This is a case that should have never been brought, and I think we should be entitled to damages," Trump told reporters when he attended closing arguments in the case on Jan. 11. The months-long civil trial included testimony from Trump and his oldest children. The former president was combative in his day on the stand, blasting James as a "hack" and calling the judge "extremely hostile." Trump repeatedly complained about Engoron before and throughout the trial, and the judge slapped him with a partial gag order after he started blasting the judge's law clerk as well. Trump's complaints led to a flood of death threats against the clerk, as well as Engoron, court officials said, and Trump was fined $15,000 for twice violating the order."

Should have jailed his ass.

"Among the examples cited as fraud by the attorney general's office during the trial was Trump valuing his triplex home in Trump Tower in New York City at three times its actual size and value, as well as including a brand value to increase the valuation of his golf courses on the financial statements, which explicitly said brand values were not included."

How about that?

"Another example pointed to by the attorney general clearly got under his skin — a dispute over the value of Mar-a-Lago, his social club and residence in Florida. Trump's financial statements between 2011 and 2021 valued Mar-a-Lago at between $426 million and $612 million, while the Palm Beach County assessor appraised the property’s market value to be between $18 million and $27 million during the same timeframe. Trump had also fraudulently puffed up the value of the property by saying it was a private residence, despite having signed an agreement that it could only be used as a social club to lower his tax burden. Trump maintained during the trial the property was worth much, much more. “The judge had it at $18 million, and it is worth, say, I say from 50 to 100 times more than that. So I don’t know how you got those numbers,” Trump testified, adding later that he thinks it’s actually worth “between a billion and a billion five.”

LOL.

"James' investigation into the former president's business began in 2019 as a result of congressional testimony from his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who told the House Oversight Committee that Trump would improperly expand and shrink values to fit whatever his business needs were. James filed a suit seeking $250 million in damages from Trump in 2022, and the judge appointed a monitor to oversee the company's finances that November. In a summary judgment ruling the week before the trial started, Engoron found Trump and his executives had repeatedly engaged in fraud. The “documents here clearly contain fraudulent valuations that defendants used in business, satisfying [the attorney general’s] burden to establish liability as a matter of law against defendants," the judge wrote, while denying Trump's bid to dismiss the case. Engoron summarized the Trump defense as "the documents do not say what they say; that there is no such thing as ‘objective’ value; and that, essentially, the Court should not believe its own eyes.”

LOL.

"The order, which Trump appealed, held that Trump's business certificates in New York should be canceled, which could have wreaked havoc on Trump's company and forced the selloff of some assets. Engoron backed off of that decision in his ruling Friday, saying the addition of the "two-tiered oversight" of the monitor and the compliance director makes that move "no longer necessary." Trump had complained about the summary judgment ruling while he was on the witness stand. “He said I was a fraud before he knew anything about me, nothing about me,” Trump said. “It’s a terrible thing you did.”

LOL.  Called the truth.

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.  Forfeiture of liberty.  At the hands of outrageously corrupt and abusive government.

The effort to expose Wells Fargo egregious deceptive trade practices continues.  Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Copies of which were also passed on to both offending Wells Fargo officers. A copy was also sent to the Davis campaign and others at the time.

Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail.  Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion.  That has yet to be determined.

The bastard and his office, no matter what, failed to respond to the complaint originally snail mailed several years ago.  This material, figuratively targeting Wells Fargo and the governor 'wannabe' now Governor, had been posted and can be found by scrolling all the way down and clicking on the links well below.  ... Governor? Wells Fargo bribe you to look the other way?

Will continue to do all I can to publicly expose this to all, both in this publication and elsewhere.  Have done precisely that with the following email sent to Matt Turner, Matt Turner Video Services, Marble Falls, TX.  A copy of it was also sent to Wells Fargo officer Amanda Wright.  She has, indeed, been promoted  branch manager. Reverse Darwinism.  Survival of the unfittest.

This young woman has indeed been rewarded by the Wells Fargo corporate management suite for engaging in criminal deceptive trade practices and her undying loyalty to her corporate masters. The process to update those already informed of this fiasco has finally been completed. This latest material can be found by clicking onWells Fargo Deceptive Trade Practices Salvo 240, 2-8-19.

The name of this publication was changed some fifteen years ago from The Llano Ledger to Liberty In Peril.  The reason?  Simple.  Cowardly failure of this community to stand up to tyranny that has only exponentially worsened the last decade and a half.  Clearly, demonstrated as well by the cowardly failure of businesses to financially support this publication.  Either through advertising or other financial support.  Too afraid doing so would enrage the bastards who run and own this hellhole County.

-- Despite the fact these businesses were, and are, being egregiously f--ked by these very same bastards. Tough, isn't it?  Impossible to entertain any sympathy for cowardice, however.  Especially in view of the fact this writer has placed himself in great jeopardy taking on these corrupt, abusive, inept criminal bastards. Alone.

Exactly, why you see no investigative material highly critical of these sons of bitches in other local rags.  Sadly, cowardly, all advertising income immediately dries up.  Consequently, the bastards continue their criminal chicanery with impunity.  On a rampage.  Thus, you get what you truly deserve.  Always.  Precisely, why this earlier name change to Liberty In Peril remains appropriate.  -- Despite the fact this writer has not yet left the area.  Ten years after originally intending to do so.  Thirty years in this goddamned godforsaken hellhole.

This writer, then and now, remains primarily interested in state, federal, and international issues.  Another reason for this publication name change.  Despite the fact I stupidly cluelessly remain here, local issues must be addressed.  Can't be ignored.  That's where you come in dear readers.  Have the courage to inform this writer of local abuse, corruption, ineptness you are aware of, have personally experienced.

... Information these criminal bastards do all they can to conceal, cover up.  Otherwise, how can they effectively sustain the charade and intended result? Loot confiscation through a boot heel on the throat of the citizenry.

The only way, short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, to force badly-needed change is to expose all this to the light of day.  These bastards are beginning to understand they have a problem.  No question, the growing rage of those they've abused, looted, egregiously f--ked.  It's time to stand up.  Expose this corruption to glaring sunlight.  Otherwise, as fools, cowards, you will remain under their thumb.  From the loftiest business owner to those on the bottom of the food chain.  Wake up.  Grow a pair.

Still don't think that likely to happen.  After all, you're bought and paid for.  Owned. Not only by your government masters, but their masters.  The corporate management suite.  Your employers.  Think not? Wake up.   You're human chattel.  Corporate-owned, bought and paid for.  Precisely, why you cowardly, compliantly, literally bare your asses for corporate inspection by the company doctor.  Willingly, compliantly, cowardly piss in a cup under employer supervision.  To sit in front of a keyboard or stock shelves all day.  You have no control of your lives.  You're owned.  Forget?  For a measly salary, no job security, reduced to no benefits.  At a time of record corporate profits and cash reserves.

Then, you gallingly complain about the oppression as you tolerate egregious theft of your labor. Not only by your corporate masters, but their bought and paid for government lackeys.  Too cowardly to stand up, allow disclosure of your identity when you rightfully complain to this publication of being mercilessly f--ked. Some of you falsely arrested, criminally assaulted, bogusly fined for 'offenses' you did not commit.  To line County coffers.  Keep the peasants in line and under control.  A fascist police-state. Nazi America.

Again, yet another reason why this publication is called Liberty In Peril.  Most galling? Nothing changes if you fail to step up and challenge corrupt, abusive, inept authority.  Too afraid, cowardly compliant to let the bastards know who you are.  Did it ever occur to the cowards out there if the identity of the accuser is kept under wraps the bastards will falsely claim it's all made up by this publication?  Thus, conveniently killing all credibility. Wake up.

Cowardice is unbecoming, unworthy of our formerly great country.  Insult to injury?  There are the hopelessly deranged who believe the chicanery reported here to be manufactured anyway.  No matter the effort.  No matter the research.  No matter the proof.  Wake up.  This writer cannot do it alone.  Snowball's chance in hell.  Then again, cowardice, delusion is always amply, justly rewarded.  Always. You continue to 'enjoy' the very best government money can buy.  Literally.
