Why hasn't he been prosecuted for official oppression? Where is financial compensation for the damage this jackbooted piece of human excrement is responsible for? Your goons have failed to take action against Theresa Ahrens when she tore down a no trespassing sign and barrier on Berardi's property. Ahrens frequently drives all the way through Berardi's property. Coup de grace? When Berardi complained to Llano County Deputy Idle about the trespassing, the officer's response was insane. Said the Sheriff told him to tell Berardi since Ahrens believes she owns his property she can't be charged with trespassing. Perfect Catch-22, right, Sheriff? You're not fit for office, Bill. Why is Theresa Ahrens allowed by your goons to dictate what vehicles can and cannot be parked on Berardi's property? Ahrens claims she has proof the property belongs to her where the vehicle was parked. Has failed to produce it. Surveyors say otherwise. Back up Berardi. Yet, you ludicrously assert that's not the County's legal position. It's not? Why not? You claim you're not a real estate expert. Rather than accept the advice of two surveyor companies, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, and even the Sheriff himself, you've inexplicably chosen to follow the advice of property owner Johnny Greene, -- who conveniently happens to be reportedly in the oil industry.

Question to be asked. Could you have received any 'consideration' in return, -- up to and including a bribe? Only way to know for sure is for the District Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation. Apparently, there has been none. If not, why not?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to this Kingsland property owner? To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Our achingly useless, worthless, gutless Sheriff has ignored an email vis a vis the damage this jackbooted thug is responsible for. Interestingly, his fellow officers believe him to be an idiot. Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot. Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved. Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back? To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road? Why hasn't she been evicted by the County? Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens? Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery? Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue. For what? Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

How about Bolen who hasn't a pot to piss in, but was nonetheless f--ked over by Greene to say nothing of an egregiously inept County, to say nothing of you and your goddamned equally incompetent office?

Wake up, Sheriff. Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office? Three hundred sixteen weeks, now. A goddamned disgrace. Why are you still sitting on this information? What are you hiding, Sheriff? What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise? Did you know the Texas Attorney General does not have the authority to investigate and prosecute County authorities on his own? Interestingly, the former Sheriff and District Attorney were reportedly forced to retire after an outrageous scandal involving a drunk driving police officer from out of town. Including special treatment of the drunken son of a bitch that no other citizen caught doing the same would have been afforded. An honest, honorable Llano County Deputy suffered the consequences. While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception. On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe. She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop. She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office. Aggressive stupidity at a time the Kingsland business community is indeed suffering, can least afford it. Further proof positive of the old adage 'can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid.'

Why would, why should both customers put up with this? Think this hasn't happened to others?

Llano County DA "Sonny Boy" is in the news. Received an award. The DailyTrib reports:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recognized District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee on August 22 for his efforts in prosecuting natural and cultural resource violations as well as environmental crimes. The commission named the 33rd and 424th district attorney the 2019 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Prosecutor of the Year. McAfee serves Burnet, Llano, Blanco, and San Saba counties. Elected in November 2012 and taking office on January 1, 2013, he has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases involving Texas game wardens and Texas State Park police officers."

The District Attorney has ignored a complaint filed earlier by this publication regarding special treatment accorded Texas oil man Johnny Greene by the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff vis a vis a property dispute involving a local banker, three other local property owners with homes encroaching on land they don't own, one of which is on an unused Llano County road. To say nothing of damage to a Pace Arrow motorhome on that property. All a result of egregious abuse of authority by Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764. The circumstances of this fiasco can be found above in each and every edition of this publication since this happened two and a half years ago. The Sheriff, the County Attorney, and the District Attorney have all determinedly, concertedly ignored this ongoing, unresolved fiasco raising one ferociously pointed question. How much were they bribed?

Last three months been getting online at the Kingsland HEB. Met quite a few readers at the picnic table. -- People I didn't personally know, but who came up and introduced themselves. Certainly, grateful for your concern, caring, and moral support. One of the Front End managers, Kevin, had granted permission to plug in and access HEB Customer wifi at the picnic table some three months ago. Someone in County government must have subsequently complained. Three months after the fact. LOL. Finally got the boot 6-27-20 from the achingly gutless Store Manager who couldn't, or wouldn't stand up to pressure from this asshole.

Pathetic, isn't it? LOL. Certainly, knew it was coming. Hard to believe it took three months. LOL. Apparently, the gutless Store Manager, Monty, sent out the second in command, Dan, to deliver the happy news. Spoke to him awhile, but sadly as expected, he had nothing substantive to say. Other than, "leave." LOL. Advised him to send out the clearly reluctant Store Manager who apparently wanted to avoid the encounter. Finally, came out. Imagine that.

Asked the Store Manager, Monty Young, for a business card. Remarkably, he had none. Couldn't be, could it? LOL. An HEB Store Manager with no business card? How is that possible? Unlimited corporate greed? Aryan arrogance of a privately-owned corporation? Or, was he simply lying? Informed him he'd indeed be front and center in this next edition.

Before getting into specific detail vis a vis my conversation with the Store Manager, it must be stated staff at the Kingsland HEB is second to none. Have known many of them for years. Work extremely well together as a team. Certainly, exceptionally customer-friendly. The problem with this store is not staff. Not even the Store Manager and Assistant Manager per se, -- who apparently, despite their denials, had been pressured by someone. It's the HEB corporate management suite at the root of most of the problems at this store.

The following salient issues were discussed with the Store Manager before I left. -- Interestingly, none of which he denied. LOL. Readers, have you noticed cheaper generic products are either continually out of stock or discontinued? Especially, after the store changed its product line weeks before the pandemic. Apparently, in an effort to emulate the Marble Falls store that caters to the Horseshoe Bay elite.

New larger shopping carts were brought in to the Kingsland store so shoppers would supposedly buy more product, increase store sales. Shelves are restocked 24 hrs. Staff was unhappy because aisles are too narrow for the larger carts. Makes it harder to stock shelves when the store is open. Not only that, makes it much more difficult for shoppers to navigate the narrow aisles.

Product pricing has steeply increased. They accomplish this both by directly raising prices, as well as in engaging in deception, that is, downsizing product. One recent glaring example is their generic bleach. For awhile, it was unavailable, out of stock. Then, it was downsized from three quarts to two. Price remained at $1. A 33% increase. Done deceptively. At a time when inflation is supposedly non-existent. What ever happened to the HCF quart and a half ice cream that sold for $1.99? Long since gone. Both aforementioned products had already been downsized once before. LOL. List can go on and on. Unbridled corporate greed.

As I reminded the Store Manager, Kingsland residents, for the most part, are poor, young, elderly, and/or disabled, etc. This store now caters to the rich who live on the lake and Sunrise Beach. Not sustainable. ... Especially, if the shit finally hits the fan vis a vis the Trump nazi, and/or a second shutdown occurs courtesy of the raging, poorly-handled, achingly mismanaged pandemic.

To store employees, all of whom I admire, consider personal friends, courageously provide your ongoing grievances to this publication. I will publish them while protecting your identity. If you won't stand up, nothing changes.

As I informed the Store Manager, the problem in Kingsland is the fact HEB has no substantive competition. What is desperately needed is a Walmart or other major corporation to rattle the cage of local HEB management as well as the corporate management suite. Until that occurs, nothing changes, shit happens. ... Right, Monty? Dan?

In the last two and a half weeks or so, three middle-aged women tripped and fell on the curb by the picnic table. Third time, 6-26-20. Took the Store Manager and Assistant Manager quite some time to exit the store and arrive with ice to quell the swelling of the woman who had fallen hard on her face. I subsequently asked Monty to consider painting the curb iridescent red or orange to avoid injury and a future lawsuit.

Responded couldn't be painted red since it wasn't a fire zone. Could certainly be painted orange or some other bright color. If management doesn't care about a lawsuit, where is its concern for the pain and suffering if a customer trips, falls, and suffers serious injury? ... Couldn't care less, Monty? -- Or, is it, shortsightedly, insurance will indeed take care of it? Wake up. Just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured and sues the living shit out of HEB. Even if HEB prevails in court, it loses. Consider the cost of bad publicity.

To the credit of management, both the Store Manager and Assistant Manager return carts to the front of the store, sanitize them, and pick up trash. Recently, associates informed me the Store Manager wasn't happy about the performance of the Assistant Store Manager. LOL. Apparently, ole' Dan got too good at hiding in the store, shirking cart and other duties, etc. LOL. That's apparently changed. ... Trouble in paradise, boys? LOL. Itching to retire, Dan? LOL. Give me a break. Never a dull moment, -- at customer and staff expense.

Finally, to the motherf--ker in County government who likely complained, don't flatter yourself. Three months? What took so long you gutless piece of shit? LOL. No matter what, Liberty In Peril will remain up and running. Despite the fact it's been more than 21 years, just the very beginning. Far more to come. Readers are advised there is a sticker on the back of the power supply stating: "Please remove this sticker." It cannot be easily removed. Will not peel off. Have hesitated to scrape it off since doing so might obliterate anything underneath it, -- if anything. It is not covering a vent and there is no technical reason that it be removed. Certainly, did not affect operation of the supply for the last year and four months I've had the machine.

Think we don't have an increasingly catastrophic problem within our prison system? The Associated Press reports:

"For months, inmates and staff say, their calls for help were ignored. And in this aging prison of deep despair — a place where sexual abuse has been rampant, authorities acted with utter indifference and the workforce was deeply demoralized — the cries for help had been many and varied. Just weeks earlier, an Associated Press investigation had revealed a culture of abuse and cover-ups that had persisted for years at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, a women-only facility called the “rape club” by many who know it. Because of AP reporting, the head of the federal Bureau of Prisons had submitted his resignation in January. Yet no one had been named to replace him, so he was still on the job. Now he was responding to the problems in Dublin — but only after an angry congresswoman had called him to complain. So early March found the lame-duck administrator, flanked by a task force of senior agency officials, arriving at the prison after flying in to meet inmates and staff in person. Garcia, is one of five Dublin employees who have been charged since last June with sexually abusing inmates. “We’ve really lost a lot of credibility through all of this, which is understandable, because it’s appalling what has happened,” Jusino said in an interview with the AP. This story is based on interviews with more than a dozen people familiar with the visiting task force’s work, the prison’s operations and the abuse crisis. They include current and former inmates, employees, lawyers, government and union officials. Many spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation or because they were not authorized to speak publicly. The AP visited Dublin, about 21 miles (34 kilometers) east of Oakland, during the same time as the task force’s visit, the week of March 7. Lawmakers, disturbed by reports of abuse, also traveled there shortly after. Carvajal and some task force members returned to Dublin in April. In one sign of progress, the agency replaced both of the prison’s associate wardens. Carvajal, a Trump administration holdover, submitted his resignation Jan. 5 but said he would stay on until a successor is named. He joined the task force for the first three days of its weeklong first visit to Dublin. But even as the task force was arriving, and as scrutiny from the outside appeared finally to be at hand, things did not seem to be proceeding in a positive direction. Officials moved inmates out of the special housing unit so it wouldn’t look as full when the task force got there. And they lied to Carvajal about COVID-19 contamination so inmates in a certain unit couldn’t speak to him about abuse. Those who managed to get to Carvajal didn’t hold back. In one emotional scene, a woman who said she was abused by prison officials tearfully confronted him in a recreation area as he and members of the task force were meeting with inmates. The woman shared graphic details of her alleged abuse. She spoke for about 15 minutes and grew increasingly upset, calming down only after prison officials brought her tissues. She was eventually taken out of the room and brought to a prison psychologist, where she was offered immediate release to a halfway house. She objected. She wanted to wait so she could tell her story publicly to congressional leaders expected at the prison. But people at the prison say she wasn’t able to thoroughly express her concerns. Bureau of Prisons and Justice Department officials told the woman that because she was a potential witness, she couldn’t talk about the investigation, the people said. The woman was moved to a halfway house soon after the tour."

"In another charged moment, a group of Dublin workers lashed out at Carvajal for putting Garcia in charge of a women’s prison when he’d already had a reputation in prison circles as a misogynist. “You created this monster,” one worker told Carvajal. Asked another: “Why did you create this toxic environment? Why did you pick Garcia as the warden?” Garcia is accused of molesting an inmate on multiple occasions from December 2019 to March 2020 and forcing her and another inmate to strip naked so he could take pictures while he made rounds. Investigators said they found the images on his government-issued cellphone. His lawyer refused an interview request. Garcia is also accused of using his authority to intimidate one of his victims, telling her that he was “close friends” with the person investigating staff misconduct and boasting that he could not be fired. He has pleaded not guilty. Carvajal promoted Garcia from associate warden to warden at Dublin in November 2020, after Garcia’s alleged misconduct but before the agency said it knew about it. Carvajal told the workers that if he had known about Garcia’s reputation or alleged abuse, he would’ve chosen a different warden."

The Associated Press left a message Friday asking whether the officer involved would face discipline. Brooklyn Center police released bodycam video that shows an officer crossing several lanes of traffic on Highway 252 and asking Wright for her driver’s license. Wright refused, telling the officer she didn’t need to show him her license because she hadn’t been pulled over. The officer then pulled her out of her vehicle, took her phone and placed it on the roof of her car before leading her toward a grassy median while holding her arm behind her back. Moments earlier, the person being arrested is heard telling officers, "I don't wanna be on that camera over there. She's recording over there, I don't want my face on camera because I don't know what the f**k's going on." It's not immediately clear if the person being arrested says that in reference to Wright or someone else. The officer continues toward Wright across multiple lanes of traffic and asks for her driver's license."

"You're going to give me your driver's license or I'm going to take you to jail for obstruction," the officer says to Wright, who at this point is sitting in the driver's side of her car with the door open filming the officer with her cell phone."

"The officer then puts his hand on Wright's wrist to pull her up and then takes the cell phone out of her hands. He begins to lead Wright away from the car before she says, "You know who I am right?" "You guys killed my son and I'm gonna videotape it," she says and points in the direction of the traffic stop. "And if you take me to jail, I'm going to sue you." "You can't sit on the side of the road!" the officer tells Wright. "Do not ever touch me again," she responds. "I'll send you a ticket in the mail," the officer eventually says, to which Wright responds, "then send me a ticket."

"Almost two years after manhandling a 73-year-old woman with dementia, breaking her arm and celebrating the arrest with colleagues, former Loveland, Colo., police officer Austin Hopp is going to prison. Hopp, who pleaded guilty to a second-degree assault charge in March, was sentenced on Thursday to five years behind bars, with three years of parole to follow. He faced up to eight years in prison."

Had it been the other way around, that is, the officer had been similarly assaulted by a civilian, think the charge wouldn't have been attempted capital murder? Where's equal justice?

"Within days of the deadly 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene, when body-camera video captured white troopers stunning, beating and dragging the Black motorist, the head of the Louisiana State Police wrote a stark note about the case in his journal: “Realize there is a problem — must address immediately.” But well over a year went by — 462 days to be exact — before Col. Kevin Reeves opened an internal investigation into the actions of the troopers involved, including one who was recorded boasting he “beat the ever-living f—- out of” Greene."

"Eleven pages from Reeves’ three journals were released Thursday in response to a subpoena from a legislative committee looking into a possible cover-up of the case. And the panel’s chairman says the troubling questions raised by those few pages were enough to demand that Reeves comply by turning over all his journals, with a threat of contempt charges if he doesn’t. “The documents themselves show that Colonel Reeves knew early on that there was an issue and considered possible measures to address it but ultimately didn’t,” Republican state Rep. "Patrick Lyoya, a Black man who was killed by a Michigan police officer, died from a gunshot to the back of his head, according to the official autopsy, which matched the conclusion of an expert hired by Lyoya's family. The report from the Kent County medical examiner also said that Lyoya's blood-alcohol level was 0.29, more than three times over the legal limit for driving, when his car was stopped in Grand Rapids on April 4, the Detroit Free Press reported Friday. Lyoya, 26, a refugee from Congo, was killed during a physical struggle with Officer Christopher Schurr shortly after 8 a.m. Schurr, who is white, told Lyoya that he had stopped him because the license plate didn't match the vehicle, according to video. Lyoya began to run after the officer asked for a driver's license."

"Schurr quickly caught him, but the pair continued to struggle across a front lawn in a residential neighborhood while Lyoya's passenger recorded the scene on a phone. Dr. Werner Spitz performed a separate autopsy at the request of the family and announced the findings on April 19. He, too, said a shot to the head killed Lyoya. He believes the gun was pressed against the head. “It's highly significant that Dr. Steve Cohle found the identical findings of Dr. Spitz,” said Lyoya family attorney Ven Johnson, referring to the county medical examiner."

"He said Lyoya's blood-alcohol level was irrelevant. “Drinking and driving isn't punishable by execution,” Johnson told The Associated Press. “We can all debate, assuming the results are correct, what effect it had on my client's behavior. But it had nothing to do with the cause and manner of his death.”

Police say Landon Earl Rankin, 54, may be behind nearly a dozen wedding card box thefts in the East Valley. Rankin was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on two counts of third-degree burglary stemming from two April incidents, the Chandler Police Department said in a news release. He was also hit with several drug charges after he was found in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl during his arrest, police said. Rankin first appeared on Chandler police's radar after attending a wedding reception dressed as a guest on April 15. While there, he stole a card box containing an estimated $3,000 to $6,000, authorities said. He targeted another reception on April 30, making off with a card box containing the same estimated value of $3,000 to $6,000, Chandler police said. Investigators later learned of a similar wedding card box theft in nearby Pinal County, where Rankin was previously employed as a deputy with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office from 1994 until his retirement in 2015. He remained a reserve officer until 2017, spokesperson Lauren Reimer told NBC News."

How did the thefts go on as long as they did?

"In the Pinal County case, Rankin was arrested and charged, according to authorities. After reviewing surveillance video from the Chandler cases, Rankin was identified as the suspect. Chandler police released surveillance images showing Rankin in his wedding outfit of a button-down shirt and khaki pants holding what appears to be a wedding card box covered in a plastic bag. The department learned that Rankin may have been crashing weddings and stealing from them in several towns, as he was considered a suspect in similar investigations in Mesa and Gilbert, the news release stated. “After Rankin’s arrest, police connected him to eleven incidents of wedding card box thefts in the east valley. Chandler police continue to investigate and contact victims in these cases," the release said. Lawyer information for Rankin was not immediately available. He remains in jail without bond, The Associated Press reported."

"Sanders, 29, died that night at a hospital, according to the Lawton Police Department. Now, six months after the incident, the Comanche County district attorney has charged Nathan Ronan and Robert Hinkle, the Lawton police officers who shot and killed Sanders, with first-degree manslaughter, city officials announced Friday. Ronan and Hinkle were fired from the department in early January following an internal investigation."

Why did it take six months to charge these bastards?

"After reviewing findings from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the district attorney’s office concluded that “the shooting of Quadry Sanders was not justified,” District Attorney Kyle Cabelka said in a statement to KSWO. Ronan and Hinkle could not be immediately reached late Sunday. “My thoughts and prayers go out to the parents and those in our community who lost a loved one in Quadry Sanders,” Lawton Mayor Stan Booker said in a statement Friday when announcing the charges against the two officers. He added that “the loss of life in our community is always a difficult matter to grasp.” Lee Merritt, a lawyer for Sanders’s family, wrote on Instagram that he couldn’t “find a single redeemable factor that mitigates any aspect of this shooting.” “It was just murder,” Merritt added. “There was no justification.”

Why weren't they charged with murder?

"Sanders was a father of eight and a talented musician, his family told KSWO in December. “He made everybody laugh,” Sanders’s mother, Mina Woods, told the station. “We could all be in a bad mood, ready to fight, ready to cry or whatever, and he would say things that would just send us into all-out laughter.” On Dec. 5 around 8:30 p.m., police received a call that Sanders was inside a Lawton residence in violation of a protective order, waving a gun around, the Lawton Police Department said in a statement after the shooting. According to the district attorney’s statement to KSWO, Sanders was refusing to let a person leave. Merritt said Sanders was having a dispute with his girlfriend. Once police arrived, set up a perimeter and started speaking to Sanders through a speaker, a woman emerged from the house, according to the district attorney’s statement. Shortly after, Sanders also came out from a side door but went back inside before emerging again from the front, according to the Lawton police. Body-camera footage from one of the officers shows that Sanders walked out with his hands at his sides, holding a baseball cap. “Hands, hands!” the officer wearing the body camera screamed, according to the video. Sanders briefly stepped to the side, partially obscured by a refrigerator on the patio, and then put his hands up, the footage shows, just before the officer fired four shots. Sanders fell to the ground and screamed. “Hands, hands, hands!” the officer wearing the body camera continued to yell. “Quit reaching!” When Sanders sat up with his hands raised, the officer fired seven more shots, according to the video. The district attorney said in its statement to KSWO that another officer fired four shots. Fifteen rounds total were fired at Sanders, the district attorney said, with 12 hitting him."

"Sanders crawled onto steps at the house’s entrance and stopped moving. The officer wearing the body camera then dragged Sanders across the driveway as he lay prone and bleeding. Sanders was handcuffed, and two minutes passed between his being shot and receiving medical aid, according to the footage."

Merritt said that the manslaughter charges against the former officers who shot Sanders were not enough, and that he wants the district attorney to charge them with murder. “It really shocks the conscience when you have a chance to see Mr. Sanders literally doing whatever he could to try to save his own life and these officers are operating with such callousness,” Merritt told the station."

"A former Alabama jail official on the run with a murder suspect she was accused of helping escape shot and killed herself Monday as authorities caught up with the pair after more than a week of searching, officials said. The man she fled with surrendered. The death of Vicky White, 56, only deepened the mystery of why a respected jail official would leave everything to help free Casey White, 38, a hulking inmate with a violent and frightening history. The two fugitives were caught — following a manhunt through three states — in Evansville, Indiana, when U.S. Marshals chasing them crashed into their vehicle, authorities said. Casey White gave himself up and Vicky White shot herself and was taken to a hospital, authorities said. Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear said she died from her injuries. Before Vicky White’s death, authorities celebrated the fugitives’ apprehension. “We got a dangerous man off the street today. He is never going to see the light of day again. That is a good thing, for not just our community. That’s a good thing for our country,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton of Alabama said."

The car they took off in was later found abandoned in Tennessee, but there was no trace of the pair until U.S. Marshals received a tip Sunday that surveillance photos from an Evansville car wash showed a man who closely resembled Casey White exiting a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, the Marshals Service said. White stands 6 feet, 9 inches (2.06 meters) tall and weighs about 260 pounds (118 kilograms). On Monday, officials learned that the pair was spotted near the sheriff’s office, said Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding in Indiana. As officers arrived, the pair fled in a vehicle and led police on a pursuit, he said. U.S. Marshals collided with them “to try to end the pursuit,” he said. Federal and local law enforcement officials have also learned Casey White threatened to kill his former girlfriend and his sister in 2015 and said “that he wanted police to kill him,” the Marshals Service said. A warrant was issued on May 2 for Vicky Sue White charging her with permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree. Before her death was announced, the Alabama sheriff said he hoped to get answers from his once trusted jail employee about her actions but acknowledged those answers might not come. “I had every bit of trust in Vicky White. She has been an exemplary employee. What in the world provoked her, prompted her to pull a stunt like this? I don’t know. I don’t know if we’ll ever know,” Singleton said. Vicky White’s family members and co-workers said they were stunned by her involvement. Singleton said it appeared the plan had been in the works for some time. Jail inmates said the two had a special relationship and she gave Casey White better treatment than other inmates. In the past several months, she bought a rifle and a shotgun and also was known to have a handgun, U.S. Marshal Marty Keely said. She sold her house for about half of market value and bought a 2007 orange Ford Edge that she stashed at a shopping center without license plates. “This escape was obviously well-planned and calculated. A lot of preparation went into this. They had plenty of resources, had cash, had vehicles,” Singleton said. The escape happened on what Vicky White said was going to be her last day at work. She told co-workers that Casey White had a mental health evaluation at the courthouse, but none was scheduled. She did not have a second officer accompany them, which was against jail policy."

'Sextortionists’ targeting young men. NBC News reports:

"Internet blackmailers are increasingly duping young men and boys into sending them sexually explicit content online by posing as young girls on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and then extorting them in a scheme known as "sextortion" — and dozens of these cases have ended with the victims taking their own lives, police and child advocates told NBC News. In a sign of how serious the problem is becoming, the FBI’s field office in Los Angeles released a warning last month aimed directly at the parents of young men caught in the crosshairs of these cyber-criminals who often operate in foreign countries. “The FBI is receiving an increasing number of reports of adults posing as young girls coercing young boys through social media to produce sexual images and videos and then extorting money from them,” the FBI warning said. Dozens of boys have reported being “victims of sextortion; mostly for money, although others were reportedly sextorted for additional images,” the agency said in a subsequent news release."

Parents need to be aware this is indeed a serious problem.

"One of those victims was 17-year-old Ryan Last, who lived near San Jose, California. Last died by suicide in February after an extortionist, threatening to post compromising pictures of him on the internet, was demanding more and more money from the teen, his mother, Pauline Stuart, said. “They wouldn’t give up and he felt he had no choice but to do it to protect his family,” Stuart said of her son. “He loved us so much that he wanted to protect us from the mistake he made.” Local police forces also report seeing a rise in cases in which blackmailers focus on young men. “Twenty, 30 years ago, predators would go to a playground or a park to find young victims,” Sgt. Christian Camarillo of the San Jose Police Department told an NBC News Bay Area reporter. “Now, there’s an entire virtual world out there for them to get into and pick their victims that way.” In Utah, Detective Sgt. John Peirce at the Davis County Sheriff's Office said he has investigated dozens of sextortion cases. “In at least six instances, someone committed suicide,” he said. “Nationwide, there are hundreds if not thousands of these cases. There are many also not being reported.”

"One of the cases Peirce worked on was that of Tevan Tobler, a 16-year-old from Utah who died by suicide in September 2017. His parents recently revealed that their son, an honor student and champion high school wrestler who was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had been targeted by a blackmailer from the Ivory Coast. It was Peirce who made the connection after going through Tobler’s cell phone records. He discovered the teen had been hounded for money by somebody who had texted him more than 1,000 times, in some cases as frequently as every 30 seconds. "In Tevan’s case we could not confirm the original contact platform," Peirce said. "In most other cases it’s been Facebook or Instagram, and they get coerced toward Google." Tobler’s mother, Tawra Tobler, told the Deseret News that the blackmailer had actually urged her son to take his own life — after taking his last dime."

"In previous years, the typical victim of this type of crime was young girls, but there's been a shift toward boys recently, John Shehan of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children said, adding that he's seen an "explosion" of these cases in the past six months. “It’s rare to talk about or hear about the sexual exploitation of boys,” he said. “In reality, boys are equally vulnerable to these crimes and more and more often are being enticed and coerced to create sexually explicit content.” Boys are easier targets “because they are easier to coerce into exchanging intimate photographs” and are less likely to tell anybody what happened to them out of shame, Peirce said. It was that pressure and shame that Stuart said was the reason she lost her son. “It happened during an eight-hour period,” said Stuart. “There were no signs. He believed he was talking to a young woman and the next thing these criminals were demanding $5,000 from him." Ashamed and terrified, Last raided his college fund to pay off the blackmailers, his mother said. "And as soon as he paid them some of that, they put pressure on him to send more, and it was too much for him to take," she said. That's when Last, a senior who was planning to attend Washington State University in the fall, killed himself. “They wouldn’t give up and he felt he had no choice but to do it to protect his family,” Stuart said. “He loved us so much that he wanted to protect us from the mistake he made.”

"Peirce said the children are being targeted by a sophisticated criminal group operating overseas. "It’s definitely a criminal enterprise involving organizations located in countries with which we don’t have extradition treaties," Peirce said. "It’s too sophisticated to be an individual operation." Those countries include Nigeria, India and, especially, the Ivory Coast, which has long been a center for cybercrime, and where the blackmailers are known as "brouteurs," according to law enforcement and published reports. In 2014, a former brouteur told a BBC reporter how he operated. "You [find] yourself a man or a woman who is looking for love,” he said. “Then you start chatting and exchange photos.” Once that happens, the brouteur imposes what he calls "the tax" and starts draining the victim's wallet dry."

"The Mirror reported in 2017 that at least four U.K. teenagers who were being blackmailed by internet sextortionists died by suicide, and police told to the British newspaper, “We just see the tip of the iceberg.” NBC News reached out to the Ivory Coast Embassy in Washington and asked to be put in touch with a representative who could speak about the country's efforts to curb these extortionists. There was no response. But a quick search online suggests the Ivory Coast continues to be a safe harbor for cyber criminals as evidenced by the pleas for help from victims and the listings of security firms that specialize in dealing with online extortionists from this West African country. "Financial and internet-based scams are proliferating in Côte d’Ivoire," the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council warned in 2020. "The country has developed a reputation in West Africa for cybercrime." While investigators still work to track down Last's blackmailers, Stuart said she is sounding the alarm to help save others. "I can honestly sit on my bed and cry for hours or I can do something to prevent this from happening to another family," Stuart, who is participating in seminars through Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, said. “Let your children know that no matter what, a mistake is a mistake and they can get past that,” she said."

"Over the weekend, protesters organized a vigil outside Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s house in Chevy Chase, Maryland, to protest the threatened repeal of Roe v. Wade. The protest at Kavanaugh’s house was peaceful — as you can see from video shot during it. Yet, many pundits and officials reacted as if they were staring down the barrel of an incoming revolution. Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, claimed without evidence that protesters were “threatening violence against Supreme Court justices.” John Harwood, CNN’s White House correspondent, intoned, “It is wrong to even hint at physically threatening a public official,” even though no one (except maybe him) had hinted at any such thing. Jen Psaki, Biden’s soon-to-be-ex-press secretary, sent a tweet declaring that protests “should never include violence, threats, or vandalism”— even though, again, the protesters going viral were nonviolent and seemed to have committed no vandalism."

Exactly, right.

"It’s true that nonviolent protesting outside someone’s house can be uncomfortable and annoying for the target of said protest. And Americans generally feel like they should have a right to privacy in their homes. They don’t want their sleep or their family disturbed. Kavanaugh is a very powerful man, which means in most social settings he is treated with deference and even reverence. He isn’t accustomed to having his privacy disturbed or his personal space impinged upon."

Tough shit. Got precisely what he deserved, however. Here's why:

"Kavanaugh’s presumption of personal inviolability, however, is strikingly at odds with the draft decision he appears to support about abortion. The leaked opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, rejects the right to privacy that has guaranteed abortion rights in the U.S. since Roe v. Wade in 1973. The decision, if implemented, would mean lawmakers could extend state-sanctioned power and violence not just into homes but also into uteruses. Many conservative state laws primed to go into effect if Roe is repealed include no exemptions for rape. That means that women who are sexually assaulted would be forced to carry babies to term. States like Mississippi may even be contemplating bans on some forms of birth control. The decision, if implemented, would mean lawmakers could extend state-sanctioned power and violence not just into homes but also into uteruses."

No question.

"Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that protests around abortion can be extremely aggressive — at least when not aimed at Supreme Court justices. In 2014, the court struck down a Massachusetts law that created 35-foot buffer zones around abortion clinics. The law was intended to reduce harassment of patients and to prevent shootings similar to those that occurred in 1994."

"Nor have harassment and violence in anti-abortion protests diminished. Yet, despite the 2014 ruling, an 8-foot fence has been erected around the Supreme Court building so justices don’t have to interact with protesters who object to their assault on abortion rights."

The hypocrisy? Stunning.

"The majority of the Supreme Court believes that pregnant, poor, desperate people who try to access reproductive health care should have to brave a gantlet of abuse and potential violence. Supreme Court justices themselves can keep protesters from their workplace and are, according to powerful politicians and members of the commentariat, also supposed to be insulated from nonviolent protesters in their private lives. This despite the fact that, according to this Supreme Court, a right to privacy doesn’t actually exist."

Would indeed be laughable had the de facto fascist threat to all civil and constitutional rights and liberties not been as dire as it has become.

"The double standard here is all the more repulsive for being so transparent. Powerful people identify with powerful people. This identification is exacerbated when the powerful people in question are men who are exercising power over women. Philosopher Kate Manne refers to this as “himpathy”—“the inappropriate or outsize sympathy extended to male perpetrators of misogyny and sexual violence over their female victims, who are often erased in the process.”

No question. Precisely, why an unwanted, dreaded second American revolution catastrophically looms on this and many, many other issues. ... Hear the rumble?

"Manne has discussed the himpathy extended to Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing. Senate Republicans dismissed testimony by Christine Blasey Ford that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her when both were in high school. Ford has had to move four times because of death threats. Meanwhile, Kavanaugh is happily ensconced in Chevy Chase, where mild threats to his privacy are decried by supporters as unacceptable violence."

Another pressing reproductive issue ignored by the federal government. NBC News reports:

"More than 200 American foreign service officers are calling on the Biden administration to ensure that they have access to reproductive health services in the countries where they serve. In a letter to State Department leadership in December, which was not released publicly until last week, the diplomats said that they have encountered obstacles to getting reproductive health care in their host countries. "All diplomats, and their family members, deserve the same access to timely, life-saving health care overseas as domestically, and when that is not possible for any reason — including host country law — to be afforded prompt medical evacuation to such care," they wrote in the letter to Carol Z. Perez, the director general of the Foreign Service. The diplomats said they are "routinely denied access" to such care and have experienced difficulty obtaining family planning services, rape kits, emergency contraceptives and abortion pills. "We deserve access to the same rights we have in our own country when we serve overseas and demand that reproductive rights be guaranteed in the Foreign Affairs Manual," they said. The letter said American diplomats based in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America who experienced reproductive health emergencies were instructed to resort to using local options available to them on their own. "Some nearly died, many had long-lasting injuries, while others took on serious financial burdens to access the necessary and lifesaving care," they said. "The experience of these diplomats today mirrors the traumatizing experiences of American women decades ago when these rights were inaccessible in our country too.

"One woman who signed the letter, Andrea Capellan, a foreign service officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development, recently published commentary in the latest edition of The Foreign Service Journal calling on the department to take action to address the concerns raised in the letter. The release of the letter comes a week after the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion suggesting that court may have a majority of justices to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling."

"According to a leaked draft of the Supreme Court’s opinion on a Mississippi law that bans abortion at 15 weeks, a majority of the Supreme Court seems determined to scrap precedent and fundamentally change the constitutional landscape by ruling that women do not have a right to an abortion. We ought not to be relying on a history filled with racism, sexism and homophobia to determine our fundamental rights today."

Roe v. Wade, decided in 1973, first held that abortion was among those rights, and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992 upheld that right. Both have shortcomings, but they are not so flawed that they should be struck down. Yet that is what Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion would do."

But it is worth conducting a close reading of his draft, obtained by Politico, and examining the key quotes that reveal some of the many problems with his legal analysis.

The opinion claims that the right to abortion is not deeply rooted in our nation’s history and tradition. “Until the latter part of the 20th century, there was no support in American law for the right to obtain an abortion. Zero. None.” Alito thereby claims that there is no historical basis for a right to abortion. Even assuming Alito did not distort the historical record with some cherry-picked law office history — the pejorative term historians give to the error-prone historical analyses of lawyers and judges in cases — his claim is rubbish. Rights can be stated at different levels of generality. The right to homosexual sodomy is a narrow formulation; the right to choose your intimate partner is a broader formulation. Stated narrowly, as Alito did with the right to abortion, the historical record may not support the right. Stated slightly more broadly, it becomes more obvious that the right is deeply rooted in our nation’s history and tradition. The right to make medical decisions is deeply rooted in our nation’s history and tradition. So, as previous Supreme Courts have noted, is the right to bodily autonomy, as well as decisional autonomy — such as the right to make major life decisions like whom to marry and whether to have children. These are not listed in the Constitution, but as the Ninth Amendment states: “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

Alito is not only forcing his perverse religious views on the rest of us, but his nazi ideology as well.

"2. The opinion relies on history and tradition alone to determine our rights. “In deciding whether a right [is protected], the Court has long asked whether the right is ‘deeply rooted in [our] history and tradition’ and whether it is essential to our Nation’s ‘scheme of ordered Liberty,’” Alito writes in the draft. This formulation, together with a narrow articulation of potential rights, all but dooms any right that did not exist since the founding of the nation — a ludicrous standard given how both our culture and our values have progressed over time. We ought not to be relying on a history filled with racism, sexism and homophobia to determine our fundamental rights today. This approach merely perpetuates historical inequalities, like that between men and women."

Certainly, the intention of the nazi element in the Republican Party. Alito, sadly, is reflecting that in his legal opinions.

"3. The opinion reaffirms that pregnancy discrimination is not sex discrimination. “The regulation of a medical procedure that only one sex can undergo does not trigger heightened constitutional scrutiny unless the regulation is a ‘mere pretext designed to effect an invidious discrimination against members of one sex or the other.’” In other words, discrimination based on pregnancy or abortion does not automatically count as sex discrimination. In making this determination, Alito cited 1974’s Geduldig v. Aiello. If you want to talk about decisions that were grievously wrong the day they were decided, Geduldig is a good example. In that decision, nine men concluded that laws that discriminate based on pregnancy did not automatically discriminate against women because some women were not pregnant. Yes, that was the reasoning. It is like saying that an insurance company that refused to cover testicular cancer does not discriminate against men because many will not develop it."

Ludicrous, isn't it? LOL. Alito clearly fails to see he's coming off as an idiot.

"4. The court casually dismisses the equal protection clause. “[W]e briefly address one additional constitutional provision that some … have now offered as yet another home for the abortion right: The Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause.” Although it is obvious to millions of women, Alito rejected out of hand the idea that abortion rights have much to do with equality. Yet as Planned Parenthood v. Casey recognized, without the right to control their reproduction, women cannot participate as equals in the social, economic and political life of the country. Alito devotes only a brief paragraph to this crucial aspect of why the right to abortion should be constitutionally guaranteed, and his main argument for dismissing it is that Geduldig and its progeny preclude it — despite the clearly flawed reasoning of Geduldig."

Fascinating, isn't it? Indicative of profound ignorance in the Alito nazi.

"5. The opinion claims there is nothing wrong with letting legislatures determine abortion access. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.” In saying this, Alito glosses over the fact that the main point of constitutional protection for the vulnerable is to guarantee certain rights against the tyranny of the majority. Alito also blithely observes that “women are not without electoral or political power,” even pointing out that women are more likely to vote than men. Yet he ignores the more pertinent fact that women are not even close to half of those with the power to make abortion decisions (for example, women make up only 15.5 percent of Mississippi’s Legislature) despite their share of the population."

Expect better of the nazi element in the Republican Party?

"6. The opinion puts many other rights at risk. “What sharply distinguishes the abortion right” is that “abortion destroys … ‘potential life’ and what the law at issue in this case regards as the life of an ‘unborn human being.’” This convoluted language is Alito’s way of trying to reassure us that the court is not going to overrule fundamental rights the Supreme Court has found to be contained in the Constitution but not specifically enumerated, such as the right to contraception access or interracial marriage or same-sex marriage. Except that if they wanted to, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court could easily write an opinion about any of these that concludes that the right is not deeply rooted in our nation’s history and tradition. There is no legal safeguard in this opinion that requires the court’s overhaul of fundamental rights to stop with abortion."

Indeed, a prelude to far worse to come as the nazi element on the Court continues to eviscerate all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

"7. The opinion violates the principle of separation of church and state. “There is ample evidence that the passage of [anti-abortion] laws was … spurred by a sincere belief that abortion kills a human being.” But the view that an embryo or a fetus is a human being and that abortion is murder is ultimately a religious view, and not a universal one at that. Rather, it is the deeply held belief of a vocal and powerful subset of Christians; in Reform Judaism, for instance, an abortion may be religiously mandated. The way to allow everyone to live their own truth is to keep abortion legal. Those whose religion condemns it can eschew it; those whose religion does not can opt to end unwanted pregnancies and control their own fates. Instead, contrary to the First Amendment command for separation of church and state and respect for everyone’s religious practice, this decision would impose one religious morality on everyone."

That has certainly been the intention of the nazi element in the Republican Party for at least the last half century since Roe v. Wade.

"8. The opinion engages in shameless hypocrisy. “In interpreting what is meant by the Fourteenth Amendment’s reference to ‘liberty,’ we must guard against the natural human tendency to confuse what that Amendment protects with our own ardent views about the liberty that Americans should enjoy.” Yet that is exactly what Alito’s opinion does: It overrules decades-old precedent to impose conservative justices’ anti-abortion views because they finally have the votes to do so."

"Justice Clarence Thomas said Friday that the judiciary is threatened if people are unwilling to “live with outcomes we don’t agree with” and that recent events at the Supreme Court might be “one symptom of that.”

Wake up, Mr. Justice. Your determined ignorance remains appalling. With all due respect, sir, there is no greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than the Republican nazi element currently owning a 6-3 majority on the U.S. Supreme Court. Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion. 'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

"Thomas, speaking to judges and lawyers at the 11th Circuit Judicial Conference, did not speak directly about the leak of a draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade, a colossal breach of the court’s procedures."

Why not, Mr. Justice? No guts? Addicted to political correctness, sir? Sadly, that breach occurred in direct response to the exigent threat posed by the Alito nazi and his henchmen who share his Aryan arrogant fascist views regarding the pending loss of nearly all civil and constitutional rights and liberties by the six Republican nazis currently on the Court. That is, evisceration of Roe v. Wade is a prelude of far worse to come as the nazi element imposes its perverse ideology and religious views on all.

"But he referred a couple of times to the “unfortunate events” of the past week, and in a question-and-answer session led by a former clerk, he said he worried about declining respect for institutions and the rule of law."

"Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s appearance before a Senate committee took an unexpected and tense detour into the abortion debate Tuesday when senators questioned her about the potential impact of an abortion ban on the American economy. “I believe that eliminating the right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades,” Yellen said in response to a question from Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. He had introduced the topic with a question on how an abortion ban could financially harm women. Yellen’s answer drew a sharp response from Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., who asked her, “Did you say that ending the life of a child is good for the labor force participation rate?” “I think people can disagree on the issue of being ‘pro-life’ or ‘pro-abortion’ — but framing it in the labor force participation rate feels callous to me,” he said, adding that the conversation “to me seems harsh.” Yellen responded: “This is not harsh, this is the truth.”

The effort to expose Wells Fargo egregious deceptive trade practices continues. Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail. Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion. That has yet to be determined.
