No honor at all? If the foregoing allegations are indeed true, didn't you swear an oath to uphold the law and Constitution?  Why aren't you doing so?  No guts?

Why hasn't he been prosecuted for official oppression?  Where is financial compensation for the damage this jackbooted piece of human excrement is responsible for? Equally to the point, why are your jackbooted pieces of human excrement refusing to enforce Berardi's property rights?  Your goons have failed to take action against Theresa Ahrens when she tore down a no trespassing sign and barrier on Berardi's property.  Have you, your goons, and/or Madam County Attorney been bribed by Johnny Greene?

Ahrens frequently drives all the way through Berardi's property.  Coup de grace?  When Berardi complained to Llano County Deputy Idle about the trespassing, the officer's response was insane.  Said the Sheriff told him to tell Berardi since Ahrens believes she owns his property she can't be charged with trespassing.  Perfect Catch-22, right, Sheriff?  You're not fit for office, Bill.  Bribed by Johnny Greene?

How is it two surveyor companies, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, even the goddamned Sheriff himself now states Kingsland resident James Berardi owns the lots in contention all these months?

Yet, you ludicrously assert that's not the County's legal position.  It's not?  Why not?  You claim you're not a real estate expert.  Rather than accept the advice of two surveyor companies, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, and even the Sheriff himself, you've inexplicably chosen to follow the advice of property owner Johnny Greene, -- who conveniently happens to be reportedly in the oil industry.

Question to be asked.  Could you have received any 'consideration' in return, -- up to and including a bribe?  Only way to know for sure is for the District Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation.  Apparently, there has been none.  If not, why not?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to this Kingsland property owner?  To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Our achingly useless, worthless, gutless Sheriff has ignored an email vis a vis the damage this jackbooted thug is responsible for.  Interestingly, his fellow officers believe him to be an idiot.  Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized  this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot.  Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved.  Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back?  To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road?  Why hasn't she been evicted by the County?  Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens?  Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery?  Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue.  For what?  Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

How about Bolen who hasn't a pot to piss in, but was nonetheless f--ked over by Greene to say nothing of an egregiously inept County, to say nothing of you and your goddamned equally incompetent office?

Wake up, Sheriff.  Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office?  Three hundred fifteen weeks, now.  A goddamned disgrace.  Why are you still sitting on this information?  What are you hiding, Sheriff?  What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise?  Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons?  Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.

Who are they, Sheriff? Their past history?  An ongoing investigation remains a lame bullshit excuse.  How can you and your goons be trusted when you refuse to disclose information? Three hundred fifteen weeks.  Especially, your egregious failure to disclose the identity of the officers who pulled the trigger.  To cover your sorry ass, Sheriff?  Those of your thugs?  The people have a right to know what happened, how it went down.  You don't understand that, Sheriff?  Sadly, clearly, you answer to no one.  Including taxpayers.  Especially, taxpayers.

Would you believe the last time the Sheriff's Office happened to be 'audited' during the Garrett regime, reportedly, auditors couldn't figure out what went where and why? Yet, surprise, surprise.  Nothing was done.  There has to be transparency.  There is none.  Why would these thieving bastards want any?  ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  How else could they so easily steal and loot with virtual impunity?  Worse, this reinforces jackbooted power in this goddamned, godforsaken hell hole County.

The public has a right to know the histories of the Sheriff's goons.  Clearly, the Sheriff doesn't think so.  That is, where they came from.  Why they left where they were.  What is happening here is the Sheriff is using 'personnel matters' as a convenient excuse to deny the public access to the history of outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept officers who are no more than criminals themselves.

He's protecting his outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept jackbooted bastards.  Worse, the standards imposed by sheriff's offices statewide with the exception of metropolitan counties are well below those of DPS and city police departments.  Why?  So the corruption, abuse, ineptness, and outright stealing can continue unabated?  This has to change.  ... The public should understand Llano County authorities have it all sewn up.  Did you know the Texas Attorney General does not have the authority to investigate and prosecute County authorities on his own?  The District Attorney has to call for an investigation by the Texas Rangers.  Then, the State can prosecute if it so chooses.

Consequently?  Guess what?  Nothing will happen.  Nothing ever does.  The goddamned corruption continues unabated until you, the public, pressure authorities.  Precisely, why we all enjoy the 'best' government money can buy. Literally.  Without question, the corrupt, abusive, inept sons of bitches are all bought and paid for.  Firmly clamped to the taxpayer tit.  Dependent on money looted from innocent citizens caught in their web.  Phony fines and court costs cleverly designed to f--k the innocent and enrich the pieces of shit who falsely believe they run and own Llano County. Interestingly, the former Sheriff and District Attorney were reportedly forced to retire after an outrageous scandal involving a drunk driving police officer from out of town.  Including special treatment of the drunken son of a bitch that no other citizen caught doing the same would have been afforded. An honest, honorable Llano County Deputy suffered the consequences. Forget? Great officers do not last in this hell hole County. ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception.  On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe.  She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop.  She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office.  Aggressive stupidity at a time the Kingsland business community is indeed suffering, can least afford it.  Further proof positive of the old adage 'can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid.'

Why would, why should both customers put up with this?  Think this hasn't happened to others?

Highly reminiscent of our outrageously bought and paid for judiciary, Llano County prosecutors, Sheriff Bill Blackburn and his criminal SS jackbooted bastards in black who continue to egregiously disgrace themselves and the badge, do as they please regardless of the law and Constitution, carefully consider the following.  It's appalling.  Runs against the grain of everything our formerly great country once stood for.  No longer.

Llano County DA "Sonny Boy" is in the news.  Received an award.  The DailyTrib reports:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recognized District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee on August 22 for his efforts in prosecuting natural and cultural resource violations as well as environmental crimes. The commission named the 33rd and 424th district attorney the 2019 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Prosecutor of the Year. McAfee serves Burnet, Llano, Blanco, and San Saba counties. Elected in November 2012 and taking office on January 1, 2013, he has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases involving Texas game wardens and Texas State Park police officers."

The District Attorney has ignored a complaint filed earlier by this publication regarding special treatment accorded Texas oil man Johnny Greene by the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff vis a vis a property dispute involving a local banker, three other local property owners with homes encroaching on land they don't own, one of which is on an unused Llano County road.  To say nothing of damage to a Pace Arrow motorhome on that property.  All a result of egregious abuse of authority by Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764.  The circumstances of this fiasco can be found above in each and every edition of this publication since this happened two and a half years ago.  The Sheriff, the County Attorney, and the District Attorney have all determinedly, concertedly ignored this ongoing, unresolved fiasco raising one ferociously pointed question.  How much were they bribed?

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.

Last three months been getting online at the Kingsland HEB.  Met quite a few readers at the picnic table.  -- People I didn't personally know, but who came up and introduced themselves.  Certainly, grateful for your concern, caring, and moral support.  One of the Front End managers, Kevin, had granted permission to plug in and access HEB Customer wifi at the picnic table some three months ago.  Someone in County government must have subsequently complained. Three months after the fact.  LOL.  Finally got the boot 6-27-20 from the achingly gutless Store Manager who couldn't, or wouldn't stand up to pressure from this asshole.

Pathetic, isn't it?  LOL.  Certainly, knew it was coming.  Hard to believe it took three months.  LOL.  Apparently, the gutless Store Manager, Monty, sent out the second in command, Dan, to deliver the happy news.  Spoke to him awhile, but sadly as expected, he had nothing substantive to say.  Other than, "leave."  LOL.  Advised him to send out the clearly reluctant Store Manager who apparently wanted to avoid the encounter.  Finally, came out.  Imagine that.

Asked the Store Manager, Monty Young, for a business card.  Remarkably, he had none.  Couldn't be, could it?  LOL.  An HEB Store Manager with no business card?  How is that possible?  Unlimited corporate greed?  Aryan arrogance of a privately-owned corporation?  Or, was he simply lying?  Informed him he'd indeed be front and center in this next edition.

Before getting into specific detail vis a vis my conversation with the Store Manager, it must be stated staff at the Kingsland HEB is second to none.  Have known many of them for years.  Work extremely well together as a team.  Certainly, exceptionally customer-friendly.  The problem with this store is not staff.  Not even the Store Manager and Assistant Manager per se, -- who apparently, despite their denials, had been pressured by someone.  It's the HEB corporate management suite at the root of most of the problems at this store.

The following salient issues were discussed with the Store Manager before I left.  -- Interestingly, none of which he denied.  LOL.  Readers, have you noticed cheaper generic products are either continually out of stock or discontinued?  Especially, after the store changed its product line weeks before the pandemic.  Apparently, in an effort to emulate the Marble Falls store that caters to the Horseshoe Bay elite.

New larger shopping carts were brought in to the Kingsland store so shoppers would supposedly buy more product, increase store sales.  Shelves are restocked 24 hrs.  Staff was unhappy because aisles are too narrow for the larger carts.  Makes it harder to stock shelves when the store is open.  Not only that, makes it much more difficult for shoppers to navigate the narrow aisles.

Product pricing has steeply increased.  They accomplish this both by directly raising prices, as well as in engaging in deception, that is, downsizing product.  One recent glaring example is their generic bleach.  For awhile, it was unavailable, out of stock.  Then, it was downsized from three quarts to two.  Price remained at $1.  A 33% increase.  Done deceptively.  At a time when inflation is supposedly non-existent.  What ever happened to the HCF quart and a half ice cream that sold for $1.99?  Long since gone.  Both aforementioned products had already been downsized once before.  LOL.  List can go on and on.  Unbridled corporate greed.

As I reminded the Store Manager, Kingsland residents, for the most part, are poor, young, elderly, and/or disabled, etc.  This store now caters to the rich who live on the lake and Sunrise Beach.  Not sustainable.  ... Especially, if the shit finally hits the fan vis a vis the Trump nazi, and/or a second shutdown occurs courtesy of the raging, poorly-handled, achingly mismanaged pandemic.

To store employees, all of whom I admire, consider personal friends, courageously provide your ongoing grievances to this publication.  I will publish them while protecting your identity.  If you won't stand up, nothing changes.

As I informed the Store Manager, the problem in Kingsland is the fact HEB has no substantive competition.  What is desperately needed is a Walmart or other major corporation to rattle the cage of local HEB management as well as the corporate management suite. Until that occurs, nothing changes, shit happens.  ... Right, Monty?  Dan?

In the last two and a half weeks or so, three middle-aged women tripped and fell on the curb by the picnic table.  Third time, 6-26-20.  Took the Store Manager and Assistant Manager quite some time to exit the store and arrive with ice to quell the swelling of the woman who had fallen hard on her face.  I subsequently asked Monty to consider painting the curb iridescent red or orange to avoid injury and a future lawsuit.

Responded couldn't be painted red since it wasn't a fire zone.  Could certainly be painted orange or some other bright color.  If management doesn't care about a lawsuit, where is its concern for the pain and suffering if a customer trips, falls, and suffers serious injury?  ... Couldn't care less, Monty?  -- Or, is it, shortsightedly, insurance will indeed take care of it?  Wake up.  Just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured and sues the living shit out of HEB.  Even if HEB prevails in court, it loses.  Consider the cost of bad publicity.

To the credit of management, both the Store Manager and Assistant Manager return carts to the front of the store, sanitize them, and pick up trash.  Recently, associates informed me the Store Manager wasn't happy about the performance of the Assistant Store Manager.  LOL.  Apparently, ole' Dan got too good at hiding in the store, shirking cart and other duties, etc.  LOL.  That's apparently changed.  ... Trouble in paradise, boys?  LOL.  Itching to retire, Dan?  LOL.  Give me a break.  Never a dull moment, -- at customer and staff expense.

Finally, to the motherf--ker in County government who likely complained, don't flatter yourself.  Three months?  What took so long you gutless piece of shit?  LOL.  No matter what, Liberty In Peril will remain up and running.  Despite the fact it's been more than 21 years, just the very beginning.  Far more to come.  Far more County corruption, malfeasance, criminal activity to be followed up, and/or exposed.  LOL.  ... Readers are advised there is a sticker on the back of the power supply stating:  "Please remove this sticker."  It cannot be easily removed.  Will not peel off.  Have hesitated to scrape it off since doing so might obliterate anything underneath it, -- if anything.  It is not covering a vent and there is no technical reason that it be removed.  Certainly, did not affect operation of the supply for the last year and four months I've had the machine.

Unlike the Russian military, ours stands tall.  -- Not just on the battlefield, but eight decades after the fact.  Uncommon Valor.  Seatbelts on.  The Associated Press reports:

"With a round of “Happy Birthday” in Italian and English, the U.S. Army toasted an Italian woman with a birthday cake Thursday to replace the one that U.S. soldiers ate as they entered her hometown during one of the final battles of World War II. Meri Mion, who turns 90 on Friday, wiped away tears as she was presented with the cake during a ceremony in Vicenza, northwest of Venice. The event marked the anniversary of the day the 88th Infantry Division fought its way into the city on April 28, 1945. According to the U.S. Army, Mion spent that night with her mother hiding in the attic of their farm in the nearby village of San Pietro in Gù. Retreating German soldiers had fired on the house, but when Mion awoke on the morning of her 13th birthday, American soldiers were nearby. In a statement, the U.S. Army Garrison Italy said Mion’s mother baked her a birthday cake and left it on the windowsill to cool. But it disappeared — apparently nicked by hungry American soldiers who had already been feted by grateful Italians with wine and bread as they entered Vicenza along its main thoroughfare. Mion seemed genuinely surprised that U.S. soldiers had returned the cake 77 years later. She marveled “Mama mia” and “Grazie” as a small crowd featuring U.S. commanders and Italian officials sang “Happy Birthday.” “Tomorrow, we will eat that dessert, with all my family remembering this wonderful day that I will never forget,” Mion said, according to the U.S. Army."


The Vietnam War was an outrageous and needless tragedy.  A horrible mistake.  Had President Kennedy not been assassinated, it is highly likely he would have ultimately and rightfully withdrawn all troops.  Regardless, our military personnel fought with distinction and Uncommon Valor.  The following is just one example.  Seatbelts on.  The Washington Post reports:

"Kenneth E. Stumpf was working the late shift at a Wisconsin printing factory in 1965, the year he turned 21, and the year he hoped that maybe — just maybe — he might be drafted to play professional baseball. When he wasn’t at the factory, Mr. Stumpf played for a minor league team in Menasha that a scout had been eyeing for some time. Mr. Stumpf was heading to bed after work, he recalled years later to the Hawaii Reporter, when he half-jokingly told his mother to wake him if any draft letters came in the mail. Not long after he had fallen asleep, his mother roused him. He had received a draft letter — not from a Major League Baseball team, but rather from the Selective Service. He had been drafted into the Army. Mr. Stumpf volunteered to go to Vietnam, where his service would coincide with a massive buildup of U.S. troops and the height of fighting in the war. He received the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration, for his actions seven months into his first tour, when he rescued three wounded American soldiers and, under unremitting fire, led a successful assault on enemy bunkers in Quang Ngai province. Mr. Stumpf returned for a second tour of duty in Vietnam, was wounded and then went back for a third, serving in the Army until his retirement in 1994 at the rank of sergeant major. Mr. Stumpf died April 23 at his home in Tomah, Wis. He was 77 and had pancreatic cancer, according to his family."

These men fought for their country with honor and great distinction:

“It was patriotism,” Mr. Stumpf once told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, explaining why he volunteered for service in Vietnam. “At that time I was gung-ho. I couldn’t wait to see my first action. When it happened, my whole mouth dried up and my rifle jammed on me.” He was 22, a squad leader with the rank of specialist, when the head of his platoon sent him on a search-and-destroy mission near Duc Pho on April 25, 1967. Danger was inevitable, he told his men, so he put himself in the first and most exposed position in their formation. “No one objected,” read an account of the mission published in Soldier of Fortune magazine."

Surprised?  Precisely why it's called Uncommon Valor:

"At roughly midday, Mr. Stumpf left his squad in the relative safety of a trench while he went to retrieve a field radio. Gunfire swiftly broke out, sending him back. Three of his six men, he discovered, had moved beyond the trench and had been hit in the legs. Gravely wounded, they were stranded. Reinforcements arrived, and with them even greater enemy fire. In time, everyone except Mr. Stumpf had been struck by grenade shrapnel. “Stumpy, look out!” someone shouted to him. “There’s a grenade between your legs!” “Stumpf looked down,” according to the Soldier of Fortune account. “There was indeed a grenade between his legs. He calmly picked it up, tossed it back at the enemy, then resumed firing his M-16.” Despite the ongoing gunfire, Mr. Stumpf set off to rescue the three wounded men from his squad. The first had broken a leg and could not move. “Grab me around the neck and don’t let go,” Mr. Stumpf told him, before carrying the man back to the trench. He then returned for the second man, pulling him almost all the way to safety before collapsing from the exertion. Still, Mr. Stumpf went back for the third man and pulled him, too, back to the trench. By the early afternoon, U.S. artillery had destroyed the thick vegetation in the area and revealed a complex of enemy bunkers, according to an account in the book “Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty” by Peter Collier. Amid continuing enemy fire, Mr. Stumpf organized an attack on the bunkers, destroying them with a hail of grenades. The last outpost presented a particular challenge. “Armed with extra grenades, Stumpf ran to it over open ground and threw a grenade through the aperture,” Collier wrote. “When the [Viet Cong] managed to throw it back out, Stumpf hit the ground in a fetal curl as it exploded; then he stood, pulled the pins on two more grenades, held them for an extra second, and tossed them in, this time destroying the gun emplacement.”

Certainly, earned him the nation's highest military award.  The Medal of Honor.

"President Lyndon B. Johnson bestowed the Medal of Honor on Mr. Stumpf in 1968. Because of his actions, the citation reads, Mr. Stumpf’s unit was able to overrun the enemy. “To this day I don’t consider myself a hero,” Mr. Stumpf said years later. “It was a job. My obligation. I was the only one in the squad not wounded.” He sometimes reflected on the fact that he had wanted to throw baseballs and found himself hurling grenades. Kenneth Edward Stumpf was born in Neenah, Wis., on Sept. 28, 1944, and grew up in nearby Menasha. His parents ran a tavern. After being discharged from the Army in 1967, Mr. Stumpf returned to his factory job, then reenlisted and served his two subsequent tours in Vietnam, from 1969 to 1971. He remained in the Army for nearly three decades, then in retirement did part-time work assisting prisoners with community service. Between his first and second tours in Vietnam, Mr. Stumpf married Dorothy Guralski. She died in 2014 after 46 years of marriage. Survivors include three children, Scott Stumpf of Manassas Park, Va., Jobi Spolum of Tomah, Wis., and Adrian Stumpf of La Crosse, Wis.; two sisters; and six grandchildren."

Who better to make the following judgment than this man?  It's quite extraordinary.  Get this:

"Mr. Stumpf was at times outspoken in his criticism of high-ranking U.S. military officers in Vietnam, remarking to the Wisconsin State Journal when he retired that “they led from the front in peacetime but from the rear” in combat."

Far more extraordinary:

He said that even decades after the war, he would be on a walk in the Wisconsin woods and find himself mentally transported back to the jungles of Vietnam. He would have liked to return, he said, to meet the people who had once been his enemies.  “I’d sit and drink beer with these guys and hug them,” he said. “They were doing the same thing we were doing.”

"The Minneapolis Police Department has engaged in a pattern of race discrimination for at least a decade, including stopping and arresting Black people at a higher rate than white people, using force more often on people of color and maintaining a culture where racist language is tolerated, a state investigation launched after George Floyd’s killing found. The report released Wednesday by the Minnesota Department of Human Rights following a nearly two-year investigation said the agency and the city would negotiate a court-enforceable agreement to address the long list of problems identified in the report, with input from residents, officers, city staff and others. The report said police department data “demonstrates significant racial disparities with respect to officers’ use of force, traffic stops, searches, citations, and arrests.” And it said officers “used covert social media to surveil Black individuals and Black organizations, unrelated to criminal activity, and maintain an organizational culture where some officers and supervisors use racist, misogynistic, and disrespectful language with impunity.”

Sadly, a problem across the country.

"Human Rights Commissioner Rebecca Lucero said during a news conference after the report was released that it doesn’t single out any officers or city leaders. “This investigation is not about one individual or one incident,” Lucero said. Asked how long the agreement with the city, known as a consent decree, might have to remain in force, Lucero said, “As long as it takes to do it right.” Neither she nor the report laid out a timeline for the negotiations. Consent decrees in federal cases often remain in place for years. The report said the city and police department “do not need to wait to institute immediate changes to begin to address the causes of discrimination that weaken the City’s public safety system and harm community members.” It listed several steps that the city can take now, including implementing stronger internal oversight to hold officers accountable for their conduct, better training, and better communication with the public about critical incidents such as officer-involved shootings."

Hard to believe the Mayor wasn't highly aware of profound problems within his law enforcement community:

"Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he was disturbed by the report and vowed to cooperate with the state to make the needed changes. “I found the contents to be repugnant, at times horrific,” Frey said at a news conference. “It made me sick to my stomach and outraged, and I think that our community feels the same way. ... I talked with leaders from our Black community this morning, and they’re not surprised at all. They’ve been saying this for years, for decades and for generations.”

Think the following credible?

"Interim Police Chief Amelia Huffman told reporters the points raised in the report are “deeply concerning to everyone.” But she said her department has been moving forward with reforms in the two years since the investigation began and isn’t going to wait to make further changes. “We’re committed to providing effective, constitutional police service, the service that people across our community want and need and deserve,” Huffman said."

Sadly, rings hollow.

"Civil rights attorney Ben Crump and his partners, who won a $27 million settlement from the city for the Floyd family, called the report “historic” and “monumental in its importance.” They said they were “grateful and deeply hopeful” that change is imminent. “We call on city, state, and Police leaders to accept the challenge of these findings and make meaningful change at last to create trust between communities of color in Minneapolis and those who are sworn to protect and serve them,” the lawyers said in a statement. Michelle Gross, president of Communities United Against Police Brutality, called the finding “obvious.” “The findings were no surprise, but now there’s an agency with the muscle to make those changes happen,” Gross said. She said a critical next step is who will monitor a consent decree to make sure changes actually happen, and said she would demand that community members take part. Gross said she was meeting Thursday with Lucero’s department and that monitoring a decree would top her agenda."

"A sergeant with the New Carrollton Police Department [Md.] was indicted this week by a grand jury for charges related to the 2021 arrest of a civilian, prosecutors announced Friday."

What took so long?  Why the delay?

"The officer, Jeffery Harris, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office, the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Prosecutors presented their case to the grand jury Thursday, arguing that Harris created a “substantial risk of death and serious physical injury” when he allegedly placed a handcuffed civilian upside down in a police cruiser. Prosecutors said Harris was responding to a call for service at an apartment building in New Carrollton on June 19, 2021, when he came in contact with the civilian — a person who authorities said was connected to a separate incident. Harris’s alleged actions while detaining the civilian led to his criminal charges. The New Carrollton Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment. An attorney for Harris could not immediately be located."

"A fourth corrections officer charged with murder in the fatal beating of a prison inmate was arrested in Florida on Friday, authorities said. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle identified the officer as Jeremy Godbolt, 29. Godbolt and three other officers were charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy, aggravated battery on an elderly person and other crimes, Rundle said. The other officers were identified Thursday as Christopher Rolon, 29; Kirk Walton, 34; and Ronald Connor, 24. Rundle identified the inmate as Ronald Gene Ingram, a 60-year-old man with a mental illness who was serving a life term for first-degree murder. Additional details about Ingram's illness weren't immediately available. Authorities have said he was being transferred from the mental health unit at Dade Correctional Institution on Feb. 22 when he threw urine on an officer. The officers allegedly responded with a beating so severe Ingram had to be carried to a van that was taking him to a different prison. Ingram, who authorities described as compliant and in handcuffs during the assault, died en route, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which investigated the incident. In a statement Thursday, Rundle described the death as "back alley justice" and said that Ingram may have lost his freedom but not his "basic rights." The three officers arrested Thursday appeared in court Friday and were denied bond, NBC Miami reported."

"Edward Martinez, a lawyer for Rolon, said that he hadn't yet seen an arrest warrant or an affidavit detailing the alleged crimes. "These charges seem really bad and they are bad, but Mr. Rolon enjoys a privilege that every single American has and I hope that everyone will understand that, that up until now he is innocent until the state can prove this beyond a reasonable doubt,” he said, according to NBC Miami. A lawyer for Walton, David Donet, added that the alleged crimes are "mere allegations" and "he's as innocent as anybody until the state can prove those those charges against him." It wasn't immediately clear if Godbolt or Connor have lawyers to speak on their behalf."

"A scathing new report by California's Auditor of five large police departments across the state found evidence of officer bias against women, people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ people, as well as woefully inadequate department policies and procedures to stop discrimination or investigate incidents once they come to light."

Surprised?  Think this isn't a problem all across this country?

"The report also says none of the departments have developed or implemented a clear plan to address bias and discrimination among their officers. "Without a comprehensive approach to guard against the presence and effects of bias," the report says, "the departments will be less able to identity, mitigate, and address bias."

... As clearly intended by the hopelessly ignorant jackbooted bastards in blue.

"State auditors looked at both on-duty interactions with the public and publicly available social media posts of hundreds of officers. Auditors conceded their report is a snapshot and not intended "to catalogue every instance of biased conduct or statements by officers at these departments. Our work encompassed only a limited number of internal investigations and the publicly shared views of a selection of officers," auditors wrote."

"To critics, it will be seen as yet more evidence of systemic racism in American law enforcement and the need for wider structural changes in the screening, hiring, training, supervision, and oversight of police. The 2020 murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin, then a Minneapolis police officer, helped spark a national and global movement for racial justice and police reform. The police California audited represent state, county and local agencies across the state including the departments in San Bernardino, San Jose, and Stockton; the Los Angeles Sheriff's department; and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Auditors found no clear evidence of outright membership in hate groups in these five agencies. They did, however, find some clear support for extremist and far-right groups such as the Proud Boys in the social media posts they had access to."

"This report is pretty disturbing. Give us a snapshot of what you found.

"We looked at five different law enforcement departments and our objective was to identify whether there were any officers of those departments that were either members of hate groups or had engaged in bias conduct. We actually reviewed the social media accounts of 750 officers across those five departments. And we reviewed 25 internal investigations and high level what we found is a number of officers posted bias statements on their social media accounts. We also found that some officers engaged in bias conduct towards members of the public. And we discovered that investigations that [departments] were doing of this possibly biased conduct were just inadequate.

"In one example, a citizen filed a complaint about an officer's social media post that used racist stereotypes Black people and made fun of Syrian refugees, Muslims. In another, a corrections officer taunted a Black youth using racist stereotypes. But you found the departments said any allegation of prejudice was false. That kind of incident shows a lack of accountability, no?

"Right. That was one of the key finds in the report. There were a number of situations where the departments conducted internal investigations of potentially biased conduct. And oftentimes the investigations were not thorough. They were not adequate. And more importantly, in the investigations, the departments oftentimes didn't even focus on the question about whether the officer's comments or conduct was biased."

No justice.  Precisely, why there is desperate need for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, and prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court that would adjudicate only these cases.  Total independence.  The only way to rein in these criminals, particularly the murderers in blue.

Sadly, the achingly clueless bastards in law enforcement don't need a legitimate reason to kill.  Enjoy carte blanche to murder on the job.  Nearly always, with impunity.  ... Why are you still sitting on this information?  What are you hiding, Sheriff?  What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise?  Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons?  Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.  Who the hell are they?

"When prison guard Jacob Wilkinson cut too close while trimming his dog’s nails, the pit bull mix, Habs, nipped him. That surprised Wilkinson, who thought he’d established more control over the dog, Sheriff Christopher Swanson of Genesee County, Mich., said during a news conference last week. Wilkinson is accused of reacting to the nip by duct-taping Habs’s muzzle shut and binding his front and hind legs. Then, he drove the dog to a ditch, shot it three times in the head and left it to die, Swanson said."

Outrageous.

“He tortured it, and he killed it,” the sheriff said, adding that Wilkinson had recently adopted Habs after the dog failed inmate-led training to become a service animal for war veterans. Wilkinson has now been charged with one count of second-degree torturing or killing of an animal, a felony punishable by up to seven years in state prison. He was arraigned Thursday; a judge allowed him to stay out of jail so long as he promises to show up for future court dates. Wilkinson, who worked as a jail guard in Genesee County, was fired as a result of his arrest. Neither Wilkinson nor his attorney, Michael Beer, immediately responded to a request for comment from The Washington Post late Sunday."

They hailed animal control, which sent two officers to check out the corpse. One of them, Bailey Gosen, told WJRT she wasn’t sure what she was looking at when she saw an animal’s carcass, its legs and muzzle bound in duct tape and its skull riddled with bullet holes. “We didn’t really know it was a dog at first. It was so decomposed that it looked like a pig,” Gosen said. “The coloring was almost white, and he was supposed to be a chocolate brown-colored dog.” Investigators found a microchip inside the body, which led them to a Humane Society branch about 100 miles away, MLive.com reported. Staffers there told them they had transferred the animal, then known as Randy, to Blue Star Service Dogs, a nonprofit that places rescue animals in prisons, where inmates train them to become service dogs for veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries. Although Habs, who was renamed after a veteran who died by suicide, failed to become a service dog, a Michigan Department of Corrections officer working at the prison — Wilkinson — had taken a shine to him. He decided to adopt Habs. “This dog touched many lives,” Saginaw County Animal Care and Control Director Bonnie Kanicki told WJRT, later adding, “There was a lot of people certainly cheering this dog on with hope that it would land in a loving home.”

"Investigators discovered Wilkinson had left the state corrections department in January to take a job at the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Swanson said Kanicki called him April 21 to let him know the investigation had led to one of his deputies. Wilkinson was working in the Genesee County jail when he got the call, Swanson said. He pulled his deputy off the floor for the out-of-town detectives to interview. “He confessed to everything,” Swanson said. On paper, Wilkinson had a “stellar background,” Swanson said. His lawyer said he graduated with honors from a local university. He was an EMT who’d trained as a combat medic and had worked for the state corrections department from May 2021 until late January, when he started with the sheriff’s office. But, the sheriff added, that history didn’t matter once they determined Swanson had tortured and killed his dog. “He’s out of here,” Swanson said. “Some people talk about the blue line. There ain’t no blue line when it comes to right and wrong.”

"Authorities issued an arrest warrant Monday for a jail official who they say helped an inmate awaiting trial on a murder charge to escape from an Alabama jail. A search was on for the pair. Inmate Casey Cole White, 38, was shackled and handcuffed when he and Vicky White, the facility’s assistant director of corrections, left the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, on Friday morning. They have not been seen since, although the patrol vehicle that the pair used when leaving the detention center was found at a nearby shopping center parking lot after their absence was discovered. Authorities have no idea where they are, although the inmate should be recognizable by his size. He stands 6 feet, 9 inches (2.06 meters) tall and weighs about 260 pounds. Authorities warned that anyone seeing the pair should not approach them. “We consider both of them dangerous and in all probability, both individuals are armed,” U.S. Marshal Marty Keely said at a press conference Monday. He noted that Casey White “will stand out” because of his size even if he is has changed his appearance. Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Monday that they had issued an arrest warrant for Vicky White on charges of permitting or allowing an escape. She is not related to White."

The policy was put in place when White was jailed two years ago and authorities believed he was planning to escape. “We know she participated, whether she did that willingly or if she was coerced, threatened somehow to participate in the case, not really sure. We know for sure she did participate,” Singleton said. Vicky White told co-workers she was taking him to the courthouse for a mental health evaluation. But Singleton later said no such evaluation was scheduled. He said video showed the pair left the jail and went straight to that parking lot. “Casey White, as you’ve heard me say over and over and over is an extremely dangerous person and we need to get him located and get him off the street,” Singleton said. White was already serving a prison sentence for attempted murder and burglary when he disappeared. He was set to go to trial next month for stabbing a 58-year-old woman to death. If convicted, he could face the death penalty. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering up to $10,000 for information. The sheriff said they were shocked by the events that transpired. “This is not the Vicky White we know, by any stretch of the imagination,” the sheriff said. Singleton said Vicky White had been an exemplary employee and jail employees are “just devastated.” Vicky White had planned to retire and that Friday was to be her last day. He said she had sold her home about a month ago and “talked about going to the beach.” The sheriff said they had no leads at this point on where the two are located. “If we knew where they were at, we would be there and not here,” Singleton said. The U.S. Marshals Service said anyone with information about Casey White’s location or Vicky White’s disappearance can call the service at 1-800-336-0102. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the U.S. Marshals Tip App."

Retired NYPD cop convicted in the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection.  The Associated Press reports:

"A federal jury on Monday convicted a New York Police Department veteran of assaulting an officer during the U.S. Capitol riot, rejecting his claim that he was defending himself when he tackled the officer and grabbed his gas mask. Thomas Webster, a 20-year NYPD veteran, was the first Capitol riot defendant to be tried on an assault charge and the first to present a jury with a self-defense argument. Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before they convicted Webster of all six counts in his indictment, including a charge that he assaulted Metropolitan Police Department officer Noah Rathbun with a dangerous weapon, a metal flagpole. The assault charge alone is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, although sentencing guidelines likely will recommend a significantly shorter prison term. Webster, 56, testified that he was trying to protect himself from a “rogue cop” who punched him in the face. He also accused Rathbun of instigating the confrontation. Rathbun testified that he didn’t punch or pick a fight with Webster as a violent mob attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, disrupting Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory over then-President Donald Trump. Two jurors who spoke to reporters after the verdict said videos capturing the officer’s assault from multiple angles were crucial evidence rebutting Webster’s self-defense argument. “I guess we were all surprised that he would even make that defense argument,” said a juror who spoke on condition of anonymity. “There was no dissension among us at all. We unanimously agreed that there was no self-defense argument here at all.” Another juror, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said Webster’s self-defense claim “just didn’t stack up.” U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta is scheduled to sentence Webster on Sept. 2."

After Rathbun struck his face, Webster swung a metal flag pole at the officer in a downward chopping motion, striking a bike rack. Rathbun testified that he started choking as the chin strap on his gas mask pressed against his throat. Webster said he grabbed Rathbun by the gas mask because he wanted the officer to see his hands. Rathbun reported a hand injury from a separate encounter with a rioter inside the Capitol. He didn’t report any injuries caused by Webster, but jurors saw photos of leg bruises that Rathbun attributed to his confrontation with the retired officer. Webster faced counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding an officer using a dangerous weapon; civil disorder; entering and remaining in restricted grounds with a dangerous weapon; disorderly and disruptive conduct in restricted grounds with a dangerous weapon; engaging in physical violence in restricted grounds with a dangerous weapon; and engaging in an act of physical violence on Capitol grounds. Webster retired from the NYPD in 2011 after 20 years of service, which included a stint on then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s private security detail. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985 to 1989 before joining the NYPD in 1991."

McFadden convicted Griffin of illegally entering restricted Capitol grounds but acquitted him of engaging in disorderly conduct."

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner announced first- and third-degree murder charges against former Officer Edsaul Mendoza in the shooting of Thomas “T.J.” Siderio on March 1, saying video showed to the grand jury contradicts the officer’s version of events. Police say the youth had first fired a shot at an unmarked police car, injuring one of four plainclothes officers inside. Mendoza, 26, was also charged with voluntary manslaughter and other charges, according to a grand jury presentment unsealed Monday. He had been suspended from his job March 8 with intent to fire. Court records show Mendoza surrendered Sunday and was denied bail, rare treatment for former law enforcement officers facing charges. A spokesperson for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 said the union plans to provide an attorney for the officer. Court records showed the public defender’s office represented Mendoza at his bail hearing Monday. The defender’s association declined to comment on the case."

"New details were revealed in the grand jury documents, including that Siderio had thrown a gun down about 40 feet (12 meters) before he was shot and that he had dropped to the ground, either tripping or obeying a command to get down. Krasner said the officer crossed between two parked cars and, from about half a car length away, fired the fatal shot from the sidewalk behind the youth. Krasner said much of the evidence was based on the video, which has not been publicly released. According to grand jury documents, prosecutors created a composite video from two cameras, one that recorded clear visuals of the foot chase and another that recorded a different visual angle but caught sound. “It is certain that (Siderio) had stopped running and he was possibly surrendering ... and he was essentially facedown on the sidewalk,” Krasner said, saying the youth was in a pushup position looking back toward the officer when he was shot. Krasner called the entire foot chase “tactically unsound” and said the video was “disturbing and very difficult to watch.”

Should have been quickly released to the public.  Without transparency, there is no credibility.  Clearly, the determined lack of transparency is cleverly designed to give 'investigators' sufficient time to come up with an excuse to let the officer off the hook.  Only when they can't do so do they apparently feel compelled to seek an indictment.  In this particular case, the officer has been indicted.  What excuse could they possibly have now for not releasing the video?

"There is no indication that race was a factor in the shooting of Siderio, who was white. Police said the four plainclothes officers were in an unmarked car the night of March 1, looking for a teenager they wanted to interview related to a firearm investigation. They saw two youths, Siderio and an unnamed 17-year-old, and maneuvered the car around the block and next to them to initiate a stop. Prosecutors said Monday that almost at the same time the officers turned the red and blue lights on, a shot came through the back passenger window and ricocheted around the car. Prosecutors said it was unclear from video whether the boy knew it was a police vehicle when he fired, but the investigation is ongoing. One officer was treated for injuries to his eye and face caused by broken glass. Mendoza and another officer on the passenger side got out and fired one shot each. Mendoza then chased Siderio down the block, firing twice and striking the boy once in the back from what prosecutors say was “relatively close range.” Krasner said Mendoza immediately told another officer that Siderio had thrown his gun and pointed to an area down the street, signaling to prosecutors that he knew the boy was unarmed. Krasner said the video also shows the officer changing his approach and that he was able to see Siderio was on the ground when he fired the fatal shot. Police recovered a firearm that had been reported stolen, and noted in the days after the shooting that another bullet was in the chamber. An attorney representing Siderio’s father in a lawsuit against the city and officer would not comment. Mary Siderio, the boy’s great-grandmother, told KYW-TV she was happy with the news. “I’m so heartbroken,” she said. “I can’t sleep. None of us can sleep. It’s horrible.” The presentment notes a handful of contradictions to Mendoza’s account that the boy pointed a gun at him and that he was standing in the street when he fired, rather than almost over Siderio on the sidewalk."

"A former Idaho lawmaker was convicted Friday of raping a 19-year-old legislative intern after a dramatic trial in which the young woman fled the witness stand during testimony, saying “I can’t do this.” The intern told a Statehouse supervisor that Aaron von Ehlinger raped her at his apartment after the two had dinner at a Boise restaurant in March 2021. He said the sex was consensual. At the time, von Ehlinger was a Republican state representative from Lewiston, but he later resigned. Von Ehlinger, 39, was found guilty Friday of rape. He was found not guilty of sexual penetration with a foreign object. Afterward, 4th District Judge Michael Reardon told the jury: “This has been an unusual case attended by many unexpected circumstances, but I appreciate your attention ... and hard work.” A felony rape conviction carries a minimum sentence of one year in prison in Idaho. The maximum penalty can be as high as life in prison, at the judge’s discretion. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 28. Von Ehlinger sat calmly as the verdict was read, as he has throughout the trial. As he was remanded into custody and handcuffed, he talked quietly with his attorney who removed items from von Ehlinger’s pockets. The prosecution remained stoic as they left the courtroom, but once they reached a lower floor they stopped to briefly celebrate the verdict together. Von Ehlinger’s attorney, Jon Cox, could not be immediately reached for comment after the trial. The Associated Press generally does not identify people who say they have been sexually assaulted, and has referred to the woman in this case as “Jane Doe” at her request. In a press conference, Ada County Prosecuting Attorney Jan Bennetts thanked the jury, investigators and the prosecutors that handled the case against von Ehlinger. “Last but not least it took an incredible amount of courage for the victim in this case, Jane Doe, to come forward,” Bennetts said. “I want to acknowledge the courage that she took in coming forward.”

The judge gave the prosecuting attorneys 10 minutes to find her to determine if she would return and resume her testimony. When she did not, the judge told the jurors they had to “strike (Doe’s testimony) from your minds as if it never happened,” because the defense could not cross-examine her. During the press conference, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Katelyn Farley said the moment Doe left the trial was “heart-wrenching,” but said she and deputy prosecutor Whitney Welsh had prepared for trial knowing that Doe may not be able to testify. “I think it’s important that she decided to walk in the room, and she also decided to walk out — those were her choices,” Welsh said. During his testimony Thursday, von Ehlinger often spoke in a clear, loud voice directly to jurors, saying he and Doe decided to return to his apartment to “hang out” after eating at a fancy Boise restaurant. Then they began making out on the couch, he said. “Things were going well, and I asked (Doe) if she would like to move to the bedroom,” von Ehlinger said. “She said ‘Sure.’ We got up, held hands and walked into the bedroom.” Deliberations stretched for seven hours until nearly 8 p.m. Thursday before the jury decided to break for the evening. At one point, the judge summoned the attorneys to his chambers because the jury asked a question. No details were made public about the jury’s inquiry."

Her name, photo and personal details about her life were repeatedly publicized in “doxxing” incidents. Doe resisted in several ways, she said, highlighting the testimony of law enforcement investigators and a nurse sexual assault examiner who interviewed Doe after the alleged assault. “Words show lack of consent. Excuses of ‘Why this shouldn’t happen,’ show lack of consent. Yanking your head back and getting an injury shows lack of consent,” Farley said. But von Ehlinger’s defense attorney told jurors the prosecution’s case was made up of “red herrings,” and said von Ehlinger was a credible person who willingly took the stand to share his side of the story. Earlier this week, jurors heard from investigators and a nurse who performed a rape exam. They testified that Doe reported being pinned down while von Ehlinger forced her to perform oral sex, and that she knew he frequently carried a handgun and had placed it on a dresser near the bed at the time of the assault. A nurse also testified that Doe had a “goose egg” on the back of her head from striking the wall or a headboard while trying to jerk her head away from von Ehlinger’s grip."

"She told her Christian college she was raped. Then she was banned from campus. A new federal complaint says Visible Music College gave a student a choice: admit to breaking the school's ban on premarital sex or be expelled. Mara Louk returned home to Iowa after leaving Visible Music College one semester before graduating. When Mara Louk told an administrator at Visible Music College, where she was a senior, that a male classmate had choked and raped her last November, she expected that school officials would help her file a police report and arrange a safety plan. Instead, she said in a federal complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education on Wednesday, administrators at Visible, a Christian college in Memphis, Tennessee, accused her of breaking school rules against premarital sex with a different student, an ex-boyfriend. She denied having sex with him but said the school threatened to expel her unless she signed a confession and finished the school year remotely."

Gets worse.  Get this:

"Visible Music College administrators also told her they would not remove the accused student from her classes because police didn’t arrest him, nor would they conduct a Title IX investigation, because the alleged assault happened off campus. And administrators attempted to bar Louk from telling anyone else at the school that she had been raped, she said. “I just felt like, why did I even speak up?” Louk, 22, said. “That’s truly how I felt for a long time because everything seemed to keep getting worse.”

We've lost our country.  Certainly, any sense of justice, and/or principle.

"Louk’s complaint asks the Department of Education to conduct two investigations of Visible Music College. One would evaluate whether the school violated the Clery Act, a federal campus safety law that requires colleges to advise students who report a sexual offense of their rights and assistance options. The other would examine whether the school discriminated against Louk under the gender equity law Title IX. “Visible has retaliated against Mara in numerous ways,” Louk’s complaint says. “Instead of investigating the rape and providing support to Mara, Visible punished Mara for coming forward.” Cari Simon, Louk’s attorney, added, “Any victim would be discouraged from coming forward after that.” The college declined to respond to allegations raised in the complaint. Ken Steorts, Visible’s president, said the school cannot comment on student matters, and had not seen a copy of the complaint, but, “Visible will cooperate with any investigation of the allegations made in the complaint.” The Department of Education said it could not comment on pending complaints."

Most interestingly:

"Louk’s complaint comes as the Education Department prepares to unveil a new set of proposed Title IX regulations next month. The regulations are expected to significantly alter many of the Trump-era Title IX policies that were opposed by victims’ rights advocates, civil rights groups, university administrators and trade groups representing K-12 schools. Victims’ advocates particularly want the Biden administration to overturn a provision that instructs colleges to dismiss Title IX complaints of alleged sexual misconduct that occur off campus. Advocates note that this excludes assaults in students’ apartments and fails to address the impact on victims who share classes and other activities with their assailant. Many colleges have found ways to investigate off-campus assaults through other student conduct policies, but “there are some that have clung very devoutly to this notion that it’s not my problem, because the regulations allow us to say it’s not my problem,” said Jody Shipper, a consultant who previously oversaw the University of California system’s compliance with laws regulating its handling of sexual misconduct."

She focused on songwriting and hoped to start a career as a singer-songwriter. On Nov. 2, 2021, a male classmate, who is not named in the complaint, came over to her apartment to play board games. It was the first time they’d spent time alone together, and that night he sexually assaulted her, the complaint states. Louk told an administrator of the alleged assault the next day. She said she shared classes with the student, and she wanted to ensure he wouldn’t harass her on campus. “I didn’t expect them to actually expel him, but I did trust them enough to get a plan in motion to keep him away from me and other students,” Louk said. Louk filed a sexual assault report with Memphis police on Nov. 4, law enforcement records show. The following week, an officer called Louk to tell her that they did not have enough evidence to make an arrest, she said. The Memphis Police Department did not respond to a request for comment. The accused assailant is not being named because he hasn’t been charged with a crime. Attempts by NBC News to reach him were unsuccessful. On Nov. 15, a Visible Music College administrator told Louk and her parents that because police declined to charge the accused student, “there’s really nothing we can do at this point, so he will be attending classes like normal,” according to an audio recording of the meeting shared by Simon. Another administrator said if Louk disagreed, she should “take it up with the Memphis Police Department.” The meeting’s focus then shifted to Louk’s relationship with her ex-boyfriend. According to the complaint, the accused student had told the college that Louk had sex with her ex-boyfriend that semester, and the ex-boyfriend had confirmed it. Louk said it was untrue, but administrators told her she would be disciplined for breaking school rules. “It felt like a movie,” Louk said. “It didn’t seem real; it didn’t feel real. I kept thinking this is just a crazy, horrible nightmare, and hopefully one day I’ll wake up from it.”

Outrageously:

"The college wanted Louk to sign what it called a “pastoral care contract,” confessing to breaking rules on premarital sex. According to a copy of the contract reviewed by NBC News, Louk would be required to finish her degree online, barred from campus and prohibited from talking to other students about her alleged assault. “We strongly believe that these restrictions will aid in bringing some needed structure, and will ensure that you are able to address the spiritual and emotional issues behind the infringements,” the contract stated."

What a goddamned crock of shit.

"I kept thinking this is just a crazy, horrible nightmare, and hopefully one day I’ll wake up from it." On Nov. 24, the college issued a short statement to Louk stating that it would not do its own investigation of the alleged rape because the school did not have jurisdiction over an incident that took place off campus, citing Title IX regulations, according to the complaint. (The college has a dorm, but Louk lived in an apartment.) Louk was outraged, particularly because the school planned to punish her for allegedly having premarital sex off campus. “They weren’t going to help me basically because it was off campus,” Louk said, “but with a separate situation that was also off campus, they were going to handle that and punish me for it.” Many universities give amnesty to students who report sexual assaults that occur while they are breaking school rules, including bans on alcohol and drugs. In 2017, Brigham Young University, a private school backed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, implemented an amnesty policy for students who are victims of or witnesses to sexual assault. BYU enacted the policy after facing criticism for attempting to discipline students who reported sexual assaults for violating honor code rules against premarital sex or being in the bedroom of someone of the opposite sex.

Ukrainian officials are calling the attack a "postcard from Moscow" and an insult to the United Nations. The attack's timing quickly set off suspicions. Five Russian missiles hit Kyiv "immediately" after Guterres and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy finished a meeting, Zelenskyy said. It was an intentional affront to the global diplomat, he added. "This says a lot about Russia's true attitude to global institutions," Zelenskyy said Thursday night. "About the efforts of the Russian leadership to humiliate the U.N. and everything that the organization represents." Guterres arrived in Ukraine after meeting with Putin on Tuesday, hoping to de-escalate the war and guarantee humanitarian aid for civilians whose lives have been upended by Russia's invasion. On Thursday, Guterres toured the ruined town of Borodyanka, northwest of Kyiv, which was bombed and occupied. For him, it evoked the evil and absurdity of war. "I must say what I feel. I imagined my family in one of those houses that is now destroyed and black," Guterres said. "I see my granddaughters running away in panic, part of the family eventually killed. So, the war is an absurdity in the 21st century. The war is evil."

Before Thursday's strike on the heart of Kyiv, attacks on Ukraine's capital had mostly halted. The Russian military says it used "high-precision long-range air-based weapons" to destroy buildings related to the Artem rocket and space enterprise in Kyiv. But a visit to the scene found the most visible damage was to an apartment building nearby. The building stands next to a factory that makes missile parts, but also vacuum cleaners. Rebar hung down like strands of hair from the bottom three stories of the towering apartment building. Officials say the residence was hit by a cruise missile that came out of Russian-controlled Crimea and knocked out the bottom. One person was killed in the attack and nine people were injured. The blast killed Vira Hyrych, a journalist who worked with U.S. government broadcaster Radio Liberty in Ukraine and who lived in the building. The news outlet confirmed her death, saying her body was found under wreckage in the 25-story structure Friday morning.

"The perception of the attack as an intentional slight was heightened by one of Guterres' main goals: to negotiate humanitarian corridors for civilians to leave Mariupol. People in that besieged port city, he said, "need an escape route out of the apocalypse."

NBC News reports:

"The war in Ukraine is widening. With Russia’s advance stalled due to fierce local resistance and Western support, analysts say both sides appear ready to dig in for a protracted conflict that is showing increasing signs of spilling beyond the battlefield."

No question.  If Putin fails to cease and desist, it's inevitable.  Worse, the conflict will likely spread throughout Europe.

"From warning of nuclear confrontation to stoking energy crises and perhaps even eyeing up fresh territories to invade, Moscow has ramped up its threats this week — but so has the West: The United States and its allies are readying huge new shipments of heavy weapons and military equipment to help Ukrainian troops on the ground, while voicing more ambitious goals for the conflict."

About time.  Seemingly, this is 1930's and 40's history repeating itself.  Time to wake up before too late.

Speaking to reporters after a visit to Kyiv, Austin said the U.S. wanted to see Russia “weakened to the extent that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.”

Jesus Christ.  What took so long for the Defense Secretary to state the obvious?  Worse, ferociously pointedly, where's the courage of those European allies who are witnessing a repeat of 1930's and 40's history?

"Dan Hamilton, senior nonresident fellow at the Brookings Institute, told NBC News that several countries, notably France, experienced “discomfort” over Austin’s remarks for appearing to swell war aims beyond the immediate defense of an ally and into a strategic wearing down of a nuclear-armed adversary."

“They said ‘that’s not our approach to this,’” Hamilton said. “But it’s certainly Poland’s approach, the Baltic states’ approach, Ukraine’s approach to it."

Pence “should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all,” Jordan wrote. “I have pushed for this,” Meadows replied. “Not sure it is going to happen.” The text exchange, in an April 22 court filing from the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6 riot, is in a batch of startling evidence that shows the deep involvement of some House Republicans in Trump’s desperate attempt to stay in power. A review of the evidence finds new details about how, long before the attack on the Capitol unfolded, several GOP lawmakers were participating directly in Trump’s campaign to reverse the results of a free and fair election. It includes information on several high-level meetings nearly a dozen House Republicans attended where Trump’s allies flirted with ways to give him another term. Among the ideas: naming fake slates of electors in seven swing states, declaring martial law and seizing voting machines. The efforts started in the weeks after The Associated Press declared Biden president-elect. In early December 2020, several lawmakers attended a meeting in the White House counsel’s office where attorneys for the president advised them that a plan to put up an alternate slate of electors declaring Trump the winner was not “legally sound.” One lawmaker, Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, pushed back on that position. So did GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Louie Gohmert of Texas, according to testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a former special assistant in the Trump White House. Despite the warning from the counsel’s office, Trump’s allies moved forward. On Dec. 14, 2020, as rightly chosen Democratic electors in seven states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — met at their seat of state government to cast their votes, the fake electors gathered as well. They declared themselves the rightful electors and submitted false Electoral College certificates declaring Trump the true winner of the presidential election in their states. Those certificates from the “alternate electors” were then sent to Congress, where they were ignored. The majority of the lawmakers have since denied their involvement in these efforts."

"Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia testified in a hearing in April that she does not recall conversations she had with the White House or the texts she sent to Meadows about Trump invoking martial law. Gohmert told AP he also does not recall being involved and that he is not sure he could be helpful to the committee’s investigation. Rep. Jody Hice of Georgia played down his actions, saying it is routine for members of the president’s party to be going in and out of the White House to speak about a number of topics. Hice is now running for secretary of state in Georgia, a position responsible for the state’s elections. Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona didn’t deny his public efforts to challenge the election results but called recent reports about his deep involvement untrue. In a statement Saturday, Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona reiterated his “serious” concerns about the 2020 election. “Discussions about the Electoral Count Act were appropriate, necessary and warranted,” he added. Requests for comment from the other lawmakers were not immediately returned."

"Less than a week later after the early December meeting at the White House, another plan emerged. In a meeting with House Freedom Caucus members and Trump White House officials, the discussion turned to the decisive action they believed that Pence could take on Jan. 6. Those in attendance virtually and in-person, according to committee testimony, were Hice, Biggs, Gosar, Reps. Perry, Gaetz, Jordan, Gohmert, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Debbie Lesko of Arizona, and Greene, then a congresswoman-elect. “What was the conversation like?” the committee asked Hutchinson, who was a frequent presence in the meetings that took place in December 2020 and January 2021. “They felt that he had the authority to, pardon me if my phrasing isn’t correct on this, but — send votes back to the States or the electors back to the states,” Hutchinson said, referring to Pence. When asked if any of the lawmakers disagreed with the idea that the vice president had such authority, Hutchinson said there was no objection from any of the Republican lawmakers. In another meeting about Pence’s potential role, Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis were joined again by Perry and Jordan as well as Greene and Lauren Boebert, a Republican who had also just been elected to the House from Colorado. Communication between lawmakers and the White House didn’t let up as Jan. 6 drew closer. The day after Christmas, Perry texted Meadows with a countdown. “11 days to 1/6 and 25 days to inauguration,” the text read. “We gotta get going!” Perry urged Meadows to call Jeffrey Clark, an assistant attorney general who championed Trump’s efforts to challenge the election results. Perry has acknowledged introducing Clark to Trump. Clark clashed with Justice Department superiors over his plan to send a letter to Georgia and other battleground states questioning the election results and urging their state legislatures to investigate. It all culminated in a dramatic White House meeting at which Trump considered elevating Clark to attorney general, only to back down after top Justice Department officials made clear they would resign. Pressure from lawmakers and the White House on the Justice Department is among several areas of inquiry in the Jan. 6 investigation. Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democratic member of the panel from Maryland, has hinted there are more revelations to come. “As the mob smashed our windows, bloodied our police and stormed the Capitol, Trump and his accomplices plotted to destroy Biden’s majority in the electoral college and overthrow our constitutional order,” Raskin tweeted last week. When the results of the panel’s investigation come out, Raskin predicted, “America will see how the coup and insurrection converged.”

"A federal judge has issued a potentially very significant ruling in the House Jan. 6 committee’s favor, turning aside the Republican National Committee’s claims that the investigation is improperly constructed and doesn’t serve a valid legislative purpose. In his ruling, the judge — an appointee of President Donald Trump, no less — validated the Jan. 6 committee’s aims, thereby helping its efforts to gather information and testimony. Some have cast it as a “landmark” ruling that could be cited in other cases. It also contains some notable rebuttals of the RNC, and of broader GOP efforts to cast the committee as an illegitimate witch hunt."

"One of the RNC’s claims was that the committee was invalid because it doesn’t contain members chosen by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). McCarthy’s five picks included members who supported efforts to question the election results. When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected two of them, McCarthy withdrew them all. The committee wound up having only two Republicans, who were selected by Pelosi: Reps. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.). The RNC argued that this meant the committee failed to abide by its mandate, given that its authorizing resolution says it “shall” have 13 members. Judge Timothy Kelly said this was “not an unreasonable position.” But in rejecting it, he cited a case in which he sided with the Trump administration, saying “shall” shouldn’t necessarily be construed as “mandatory”:

    "Starting with the resolution’s text, as this Court observed in upholding former President Trump’s right to name his own acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, “although ‘shall’ is usually understood as mandatory,” the word is “a semantic mess” and is sometimes used “to mean ‘should,’ ‘will,’ or even ‘may.’ ” Thus, that the resolution states that Speaker Pelosi “shall” appoint thirteen members to the Select Committee is not conclusive as to whether thirteen members are required for it to lawfully operate."

"Next, Kelly turned to a similar argument made by the RNC — that the authorizing resolution states that the committee “shall” appoint five members “after consultation with the minority leader.” He quickly dispatches with the idea that McCarthy wasn’t consulted, just because some of his picks were rejected."

“To ‘consult’ with Minority Leader McCarthy, all Speaker Pelosi had to do was ask for his ‘advice or opinion,’ ” Kelly writes, citing a legal dictionary. He added flatly: “There is no dispute that she did. That she did not “accept all his recommendations, and that Minority Leader McCarthy then withdrew all his recommendations, does not mean that Speaker Pelosi failed to consult with him.”

"The RNC also made a rather technical claim that the committee is not properly authorized because it doesn’t have a “ranking minority member,” as the authorizing resolution also requires. Cheney was named a “vice chair” of the committee after the GOP’s picks were withdrawn, and one of the rejected GOP picks, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), has even tried to claim he is actually, somehow, the ranking member. But the judge essentially said this was a distinction without a difference. Cheney clearly has the most seniority of the panel’s two Republicans."

“True, for whatever reason the Select Committee did not give her — or anyone else — the formal title ‘ranking member,’” Kelly wrote. “But to the extent there is any uncertainty about whether she fits the bill, on this record the Court must defer to the Select Committee’s decision to treat Representative Cheney as the ranking minority member for consultation purposes.”

"Finally comes a particularly strained argument — and one which the judge treated as such. The RNC claimed that the committee’s stated purpose of investigating the Jan. 6 attack is actually a pretext for a political effort to harm Republicans. But in making that argument, it cited public comments from members of the committee that merely refer to delivering justice wherever it might lead (emphasis added by me):

    "It also identifies three tweets from Select Committee members: one from Chairman [Bennie G.] Thompson on the first anniversary of the January 6 attack reflecting that “[w]e have been working diligently to bring justice” to “the tragedy of Jan. 6” ; one from Representative [Adam B.] Schiff in November 2021 saying that “[w]e will expose those responsible for Jan 6” and “[n]o one is above the law”; and one from Representative [Jamie B.] Raskin in December 2021 observing that “[e]xec. privilege doesn’t cover criminal misconduct, like insur-rections or coups.” The RNC also references three public statements from Select Committee members: one from Representative Kinzinger about how “[w]e’ll be able to have out on the public record anything [the] Justice Department needs maybe in … pursuit of [a crime]” ; one from Chairman Thompson about how “we are pursuing evidence” leading to “former President Trump or anyone else”; and one from Representative Raskin about how neither attorney-client nor executive privilege “operate[s] to shield participants in a crime from an investigation into a crime.” Kelly wrote that the evidence presented by the RNC — which also included staffing decisions — “does not come close to showing that the Select Committee’s proffered legislative purpose is merely a pretext.” Kelly repeatedly notes that the committee has constrained its request for data from the RNC so that it’s sufficiently narrow. In his summary of the committee’s valid legislative purpose, he acknowledges the importance of the matters at hand — something Republicans have argued isn’t worth the focus provided by the select committee:    … The Select Committee is hardly on an unconstrained “fishing expedition” into the RNC’s records. That two-month window is plainly relevant to its investigation into the causes of the January 6 attack. … As House Defendants explain, this information will give the Select Committee the context to understand how much attention and interest was generated by emails that asserted the election was fraudulent or stolen. And the ruling, which allows the committee to access data related to the RNC’s mass emails suggesting that the 2020 election was illegitimate, could also open the door to yet more. The judge’s ruling surely won’t stop the GOP from making a political argument that the committee is a fishing expedition — something the party set the stage for by withdrawing from the committee altogether — but it does mean that claim has now been rejected in at least one crucial context, and by a Trump appointee at that."

That is, apparently, until Monday evening when Politico published what it said is a draft of an opinion in a major abortion case that was argued in the fall. While there have, on very rare occasions, been leaks of the outcomes in cases, the publication of an apparent draft running nearly 100 pages was without an evident modern parallel. The draft says that a majority of the court is prepared to overrule the landmark 1973 decision, Roe v. Wade, that legalized abortion nationwide. A decision in the case had been expected before the court begins its summer recess in late June or early July, so it could be more than a month before the court actually issues a final opinion. If the court does what the draft suggests, the ruling would upend a nearly 50-year-old decision; its advance publication would also disturb an almost unbroken tradition of secrecy at the court. Chief Justice John Roberts on Tuesday confirmed the draft’s authenticity and promised an investigation into the source of the leak. The draft opinion is by Justice Samuel Alito. Politico says the draft was distributed to other members of the court in February. Alito is a member of the court’s six-justice conservative majority."

"Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Biden said he hoped the draft wouldn’t be finalized by justices, contending it reflects a “fundamental shift in American jurisprudence” that threatens “other basic rights” like access to birth control and marriage. Wade decision as is; just 29% said the court should overturn the decision. In general, AP-NORC polling finds a majority of the public favors abortion being legal in most or all cases."

"There are going to be women that will die from pregnancy because of this decision, period," said Dr. Amy Addante, an OBGYN in Illinois and a fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health. In addition, pregnant people would face the risk of prosecution for seeking to end pregnancies in states where abortion is banned, and research has shown that unwanted pregnancies have many harmful long-term consequences for mothers, including a higher chance of financial hardship and a severe toll on mental health."

"The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate of any developed country. In total, about 700 women die every year of pregnancy-related complications in the U.S., and about 3 in 5 of those deaths are preventable, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "One of the things that I worry about the most is that we are going to see an increase in maternal deaths in this country" if Roe is overturned, said Lauren Ralph, an epidemiologist at the University of California, San Francisco. The U.S. maternal mortality rate in 2020 was 23.8 deaths per 100,000 live births — the highest it had been since before Roe was overturned, according to the Commonwealth Fund, which promotes better health care for underserved communities. The rate was far higher among Black people: 55.3 deaths, which is nearly three times the rate for white people. A rise in maternal deaths, therefore, would likely "be concentrated among people who are living below the federal poverty line, people of color," Ralph said."

No surprise there.  Sadly, been the American way for decades, -- if not far longer.

"The U.S. maternal mortality rate more than doubled from 1987 to 2017, CDC data show. By contrast, maternal mortality in high-income countries decreased slightly every year on average over roughly the same period, according to a 2016 study. Some research suggests that women who are denied abortions face an especially high risk of pregnancy-related health issues, due in part to an increased likelihood of delaying prenatal care. A study published last year found that although most U.S. states had similar rates of maternal mortality in 1995, states that restricted abortion access had significantly higher rates by 2017 than those with more protective policies."

Sad, isn't it?  Then again, can't confuse the nazi element in the Republican Party with the truth.

"Unintended pregnancies are at higher risk for medical complications, which can extend beyond once the baby is delivered," Addante said. That was also the finding of a five-year research project at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco, called The Turnaway Study, which looked at 1,000 women who sought abortions across 30 facilities in the U.S. Of that group, women who were denied abortions had more serious health problems, such as high blood pressure or seizures, than those who had abortions. Two women who were denied abortions died from conditions related to their pregnancies. "We can definitely say that if these people had been able to get the care that they wanted, those maternal deaths would have been avoided," said Ralph, one of the study's researchers."

The nazi element in the Republican Party, apparently, couldn't care less.

"Experts said it is unlikely that overturning Roe would lead to more unsafe abortions in the U.S., although there is a chance. "In terms of unsafe abortions, 'back-alley' or unskilled abortion providers and women dying from unsafe abortions, I truly hope that is not what we’re seeing. It's a risk, but I hope not," said Susan Wood, the director of the Jacobs Institute of Women’s Health at George Washington University. A major difference for women seeking abortions now, compared to the pre-Roe era, are the abortion pills the Food and Drug Administration approved in 2000. The regimen consists of mifepristone, which blocks progesterone, and misoprostol, which induces contractions. The combination can be taken up to 10 weeks after a patient’s last period; FDA regulations require the pills to be dispensed only by registered providers."

That's a problem.  Limits access.  Especially, to women who don't have the money.  Worse?  Truly believe the nazi element in the Republican Party won't try to outlaw this medication?  Think desperate women won't dangerously resort to attempting to self-induce an abortion?

"By 2020, the drug combination was used in half of all U.S. abortions, according to the Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights advocacy group. In December, the FDA decided to permanently allow patients to receive the pills by mail after telehealth appointments. But six states — Arizona, Indiana, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas — have made that illegal."

Think more won't follow suit?

"Medication abortion is very safe: A 2018 National Academies of Sciences report found in 2018 that complications arise in just a fraction of a percent of patients. A more recent study, published in February, found that about 1 percent of people who had self-managed medication abortions experienced adverse effects, none of whom died. Still, that's not the right option for everyone seeking an abortion, Addante said. "It doesn’t replace the need for procedural abortion to be available, because there’s going to be some people that it’s just the safer option or for personal reasons it’s the better fit," she said. If Roe is overturned, some pregnant people wouldn't have access to either option. Experts said they worry about the legal repercussions."

For damned good reason:

"Folks are more likely to be criminalized, jailed, to be prosecuted and in prison for managing their own abortion than they are to experience any medical complications," said Dr. Jamila Perritt, the president and CEO of Physicians for Reproductive Health. Communities of color, immigrants and LGBTQ people are among the biggest targets for criminalization, she added. "My biggest concern right now is seeing an already very marginalized population pushed even further to the brink in terms of their ability to access reproductive health care," Addante said."

Clearly, matters not to the nazi element in the Republican Party responsible for all this.

"In a 2020 analysis of Turnaway Study data, researchers found that just over half of the participants said deciding to get an abortion was difficult. Those women were more likely to report feeling sadness, guilt and anger shortly afterward. However, by five years out, 84 percent reported either positive or neutral feelings. Experts characterized the negative effects of denying someone a wanted abortion as long-lasting and intergenerational. A 2017 U.K. study looked specifically at the mental health impacts of unplanned motherhood on women with partners and found that nine months after birth, they were nearly twice as likely to experience psychological distress as women with planned pregnancies. "We are going to see potentially some increased adverse mental health outcomes if people are being forced to continue pregnancies and they either don’t want to or it's unsafe for them to do so," Addante said. In the Turnaway Study, women who were denied abortions were found to be more likely to stay in contact with violent partners and to have trouble affording basic living expenses than women who'd had abortions. Their children were more likely to live below the federal poverty line than children born to women who'd previously had abortions. "The majority of people who are seeking abortions are already parents, so they know what it means to have children," Perritt said. "They're making decisions about accessing abortion care in a way that will allow them to continue to care for the children that they already have."

The Associated Press reports:

"Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who has supported bills to limit abortion and is up for reelection in Wisconsin, said in a statement that neither personal beliefs nor “pressure from the radical left to intimidate sitting Supreme Court justices, should be the basis on which this profound moral issue should be decided for all of society.”

Sadly, this Senator is insane.  Has lost his mind.  First, the six Republican nazis on the Supreme Court are forcing their perverse religious beliefs on the rest of us.  Second, there is no radical left.  Has not been for decades.  Worse?  Far worse and to the point?  Democrats are clearly incapable of effectively challenging the nazi element in the Republican Party.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.  Third, the Senator has clearly lied.  The Supreme Court is not about to decide this 'moral issue' for society.  Far from it.  It is supposedly returning the issue to the states.  At least half of the states remain abortion friendly.

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.  Forfeiture of liberty.  At the hands of outrageously corrupt and abusive government.


The effort to expose Wells Fargo egregious deceptive trade practices continues.  Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Copies of which were also passed on to both offending Wells Fargo officers. A copy was also sent to the Davis campaign and others at the time.

Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail.  Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion.  That has yet to be determined.

The bastard and his office, no matter what, failed to respond to the complaint originally snail mailed several years ago.  This material, figuratively targeting Wells Fargo and the governor 'wannabe' now Governor, had been posted and can be found by scrolling all the way down and clicking on the links well below.  ... Governor? Wells Fargo bribe you to look the other way?

The name of this publication was changed some fifteen years ago from The Llano Ledger to Liberty In Peril.  The reason?  Simple.  Cowardly failure of this community to stand up to tyranny that has only exponentially worsened the last decade and a half.  Clearly, demonstrated as well by the cowardly failure of businesses to financially support this publication.  Either through advertising or other financial support.  Too afraid doing so would enrage the bastards who run and own this hellhole County.

-- Despite the fact these businesses were, and are, being egregiously f--ked by these very same bastards. Tough, isn't it?  Impossible to entertain any sympathy for cowardice, however.  Especially in view of the fact this writer has placed himself in great jeopardy taking on these corrupt, abusive, inept criminal bastards. Alone.

Exactly, why you see no investigative material highly critical of these sons of bitches in other local rags.  Sadly, cowardly, all advertising income immediately dries up.  Consequently, the bastards continue their criminal chicanery with impunity.  On a rampage.  Thus, you get what you truly deserve.  Always.  Precisely, why this earlier name change to Liberty In Peril remains appropriate.  -- Despite the fact this writer has not yet left the area.  Ten years after originally intending to do so.  Thirty years in this goddamned godforsaken hellhole.

This writer, then and now, remains primarily interested in state, federal, and international issues.  Another reason for this publication name change.  Despite the fact I stupidly cluelessly remain here, local issues must be addressed.  Can't be ignored.  That's where you come in dear readers.  Have the courage to inform this writer of local abuse, corruption, ineptness you are aware of, have personally experienced.

... Information these criminal bastards do all they can to conceal, cover up.  Otherwise, how can they effectively sustain the charade and intended result? Loot confiscation through a boot heel on the throat of the citizenry.

The only way, short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, to force badly-needed change is to expose all this to the light of day.  These bastards are beginning to understand they have a problem.  No question, the growing rage of those they've abused, looted, egregiously f--ked.  It's time to stand up.  Expose this corruption to glaring sunlight.  Otherwise, as fools, cowards, you will remain under their thumb.  From the loftiest business owner to those on the bottom of the food chain.  Wake up.  Grow a pair.

Then, you gallingly complain about the oppression as you tolerate egregious theft of your labor. Not only by your corporate masters, but their bought and paid for government lackeys.  Too cowardly to stand up, allow disclosure of your identity when you rightfully complain to this publication of being mercilessly f--ked. Some of you falsely arrested, criminally assaulted, bogusly fined for 'offenses' you did not commit.  To line County coffers.  Keep the peasants in line and under control.  A fascist police-state. Nazi America.

Again, yet another reason why this publication is called Liberty In Peril.  Most galling? Nothing changes if you fail to step up and challenge corrupt, abusive, inept authority.  Too afraid, cowardly compliant to let the bastards know who you are.  Did it ever occur to the cowards out there if the identity of the accuser is kept under wraps the bastards will falsely claim it's all made up by this publication?  Thus, conveniently killing all credibility. Wake up.

Cowardice is unbecoming, unworthy of our formerly great country.  Insult to injury?  There are the hopelessly deranged who believe the chicanery reported here to be manufactured anyway.  No matter the effort.  No matter the research.  No matter the proof.  Wake up.  This writer cannot do it alone.  Snowball's chance in hell.  Then again, cowardice, delusion is always amply, justly rewarded.  Always. You continue to 'enjoy' the very best government money can buy.  Literally.
