Getting online has gotten increasingly difficult and expensive last four months.  Worse, access is outside since most establishments are closed or limited to drive-thru operations.  Lap tops are not designed to be used in such an environment.  Extremely difficult to see the screen.  Time for the readership to step up and provide assistance.  TC 7-24-20

In response to the pandemic, government quickly imposed draconian restrictions making access to public wifi exceptionally difficult.  Consequently, editions of this publication will be briefer and posted as regularly as possible until circumstances change.  TC 3-20-20

Publisher's Note: This publication receives no financial support through advertising.  Although shaken down, looted, and abused by corrupt government, area businesses remain unwilling to stand up.  Locals are too gutless to donate financially, cowardly fearing retribution.  For this publication to survive, national readers need to contribute.  Liberty In Peril is, has been, and will always remain beholden to NO ONE. -- Precisely why there is no financial assistance.  ... From day of launch and certainly a no-brainer to this very day, firmly resolved to walk away first rather than compromise principle. -- To the chagrin of many and delight of few.    T.C. (5-7-13).

For new readers:  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

No matter what, no matter where, this publication will remain up and running.  For it to remain centered here, however, financial and/or material support must be provided.  Status quo, unsustainable.  Time to step up.  Now.

Brother dearest.  ... Been awhile, hasn't it, Bro?  A little antsy?  Wondering when the next shoe is about to fall, that is, when you'll be fully exposed for the thieving son of a bitch you truly are?  Patience.  All in good time, good buddy.  When I'm damned good and ready.  Timing just right.  After all, a son of a bitch who's stolen his father's estate needs to be fully exposed publicly for whom and what he is, don't you think?  Indeed, a public service for your neighbors, professional associates, family, and friends, etc..

Conveniently, forget?  Others need to protect themselves against a fraud who masquerades as both a teacher and a counselor, no?  -- How the hell did you ever pass an MMPI some forty years ago to get hired?  You're not stable.  Have not been.  ... Must have really been pissed off at the old man to rip off an estate, no?  How much did you steal while he was alive and supposedly under your care?

How much did you bribe law enforcement to ignore a complaint I filed with them years before the old man died?  How much did you bribe the prosecutor to ignore a complaint filed with her several years ago?  How much?  Use the old man's money to bribe the bitch?  Her cohorts?  Your law enforcement shysters?  While there may indeed be no justice from a corrupt system, fortunately, I do have a way to publicly expose you for the goddamned thieving son of a bitch you truly are.

... Unlike our grandmother who scrubbed floors on her hands and knees during the Depression for peanuts, only to have what little she had stolen by her son, our uncle, another goddamned thieving son of a bitch just like you.  Remember how, surprise, surprise, there was no life insurance when our grandfather died?  Despite the fact our grandmother gave her thieving bastard son premium money year after goddamned year?  Only, as the thieving son of a bitch he truly was, to have pocketed it.  Again, just like you.

Remember when he booted her out of the house she had bought him when he had had enough of her?  -- Despite the fact he had lied and promised she could stay the rest of her life?  She had to climb two flights of stairs on an ulcerated leg to get to a bathroom he had never built for her at ground level as falsely promised.   Nothing ever happened to the thieving son of a bitch as far as justice was concerned.  Worse, he was never exposed publicly for the thieving son of a bitch he truly was.

Will be different for you, Bro.  While you've bought off authorities, you will be publicly exposed.  In great detail.  In good time.  When I'm damned good and ready.  When exposure will do the maximum figurative damage to your goddamned sordid reputation.  -- Just the truth, brother dearest, however.  Just the truth.

Irony of ironies?  When the thieving son of a bitch died, and our mother was finally informed he had passed, she cried for her brother, -- the bastard thief who stole from her mother.  Sad, isn't it?  Too bad she's not still alive to see you publicly exposed for the goddamned thieving son of a bitch you, yourself, truly are.  As was he.  Not in a court of law you've bought off, however.  Right here.

In good time.  Again, when I'm damned good and ready.  Employing the very same tactics used against Amanda Wright of Wells Fargo.  -- On steroids, however, since all dirty family laundry will be aired.  All of it.  No threat.  A promise.  Emails sent to your neighbors, friends, professional associates, businesses you deal with.  Although an enormous amount of work, all doable courtesy of the Internet.  Despite being some 1,800 miles away.  -- Small world, isn't it, Bro?  Enjoy the stolen loot, you son of a bitch.  Forget?  It's all you have.

Brother dearest.  Save all the check stubs from the old man's accounts?  Fraudulently sign any of them yourself?  Think this material couldn't be obtained from the banks either through discovery or a criminal investigation?  Still own the house on Condict Rd.?   Any other properties besides this one and the old man's you stole with the help of your shyster bastard? Be interesting to see how far your assets extend and where.  Think all that information isn't accessible?  That I won't determinedly obtain it?

That not only an extensive Internet search will be conducted that will likely take months to complete?  But an extensive background check as well?  Think the Catholic high school you attended shouldn't be informed of the thievery of one of its graduates?  Think the clerics there would be appalled at their failure to teach you right from wrong?  How about both universities?  Think neighbors in the old man's neighborhood won't be informed of your deception?  Think they don't have a right to know?

Ever follow the advice of Dr. Bert Wiser, psychological statistics professor at MSU?  That is, get treatment for your achingly debilitating instability?  Is that why you wound up looting the old man?  Or, is it simply a convenient excuse you'll use to defend the indefensible?  Think this will end any time soon?  That is, public exposure of you as a thieving son of a bitch?  We're just getting started, Bro.  Just getting started.

Don't like it?  Tough shit.  Sue me you thieving son of a bitch.  Would use discovery to learn and post on this website all there is to know about you, your activities, predilections, business 'deals,' as well as all your financial transactions, etc..  All of it.  Would certainly avoid the expense of an extensive background check on you, thieving brother dearest.

Even if you were successful in court, there is nothing for you to take, this remains, as well, a homesteading state where minimal assets are protected anyway.  This site is hosted in an overseas country that doesn't particularly like government intrusion, remains not prone to cooperate.  Besides, can always upload to another webhost in still yet another country.  The possibilities are endless, Bro.  Just takes willingness, effort, unshakable determination.

Even if I lost it all would be more than worth it to expose you for the goddamned thieving son of a bitch you truly are.  Even if you bribed a goddamned nazi 'judge' to remove posted material, would not cooperate and be more than willing to rot in jail.  Would certainly keep reposting it all no matter the cost and/or personal consequences every time it was taken down.  Forget, you thieving son of a bitch?  I never ever give up.

Since all I seek is your exposure for the thief you truly are, would all be worth it.  For the sake of principle.  All the work, financial cost, as well as the time I am about to dedicate to this effort, you deceptive, unstable, sick, thieving son of a bitch.  Unlike you, I live on principle and have absolutely nothing to lose.  You do.  Will certainly take great pleasure and satisfaction in doing all I can to publicly expose you for whom and what you are.

To say nothing of placing enormous pressure on prosecutors you and your equally corrupt shyster son of a bitch apparently bribed.  Don't like it?  Again, tough shit. Chew harder.  The public needs to know to protect itself.  From you and your shyster bastard.  People who live and travel in your circles as well.  Including his.  As a thief, you and he can't be trusted by anyone.  You'll determinedly f--k them.

More than willing to provide this truly public service.  People certainly need to know whom and what you are.  What you have sadly become.  You certainly weren't brought up to be a thieving son of a bitch.  What happened?  Where did you lose yourself, Bro?  -- Never mind.  ... Truly doesn't matter.  Only your exposure.

TC 4-22-16

Hey, Bro?  Remember me?  How soon they conveniently forget.  ... Half asleep? -- Out to lunch?  ... In your own perverse little world?  That of a criminal?  Wake up.  Conveniently, gutlessly forget?  Insanely believe you're someway, somehow off the hook?  Think again.  We're not done.  You remain a thief who will be exposed for whom and what your are.  What you certainly have become.  No question about that.  Patience, you thieving son of a bitch.  Exposure is coming.  Promise.

Think I don't have time?  Truly believe the ongoing Presidential fiasco ends no matter who wins?  The murderous decay in law enforcement gets resolved any time soon?  Criminal Wells Fargo employees from local Kingsland bank manager Amanda S. Wright right up to and including CEO John Stumpf get prosecuted in the near future despite egregious criminal activity?  Wouldn't hold my breath, would you?

Think I don't have time to handle all this and your public exposure for the estate-stealing criminal son of a bitch you've truly become?  How could you steal from the old bastard, you incredibly sad sack of shit?  Certainly weren't brought up to be a thief.  What happened to you?  Where'd you lose yourself?

No question, 2017 will be a most remarkable, defining year for you, Bro.  Public exposure for the thieving piece of shit you've sadly become.  It's on the way. Promise.  Hope you sue.  Nothing for you to take.  Tough, isn't it?  Certainly, makes me judgment proof.  Will certainly, as well, take advantage of discovery.  Publish every detail I can get my hands on.  No matter the consequences.  Only consideration?  Prime directive?  Your exposure for whom and what you are.

Readers?  This not-so-brotherly piece of shit stole from our father.  Manipulated the old man to line his pockets.  Just like our uncle on my mother's side of the family did to my grandmother.  Runs in the family.  Our family.   ... Right, Bro?  This game now gets played my way, -- not yours, you son of a bitch.  That is, no more U.S. Mail tag.

Anything sent by mail will be refused, returned unopened.  Want contact?  Email.  libertyinperil@riseup.net.  Quick.  Easy.  Better yet?  A digital record.  Permanent.  Easily accessible.  Easily uploaded to this site when and if it becomes necessary.  The shyster bastard you hired to steal the estate shouldn't expect escape, either, from public exposure as the thieving piece of shit he, like you, truly both are.  Unscrupulous thieves.

Sincerely hope that piece of crap sues as well.  Nothing to take.  Discovery again would be published no matter the personal cost.  Nothing quite like public exposure, is there?  Especially, when it is nothing but the truth and there is absolutely nothing to lose exposing two pieces of criminal shit for whom and what they are.  Two pieces of gutless human excrement who looted an old man.  ... Right, Bro?

There is no better disinfectant than sunlight, readers.  Glaring sunlight.  Dazzling brilliance.  Amazing how the roaches run for cover.  Equally pointedly, how vermin on two legs manage to so easily prey on the elderly courtesy of the out of control fascist police-state we now live in.  While there'll never be any justice vis a vis this theft, there will be exposure to the brilliant light of day for both criminal perpetrators.  Count on it, you not-so-brotherly criminal son of a bitch.

TC 10-7-16

Hey, Bro?  Hear of Old Sturbridge Village?  Haven't?  ... Not lying, are you, you thieving son of a bitch?  You and your long-term companion EC conspire, bequeath some of the old man's loot to this museum?  An achingly stingy gift of $250-$499, -- considering the size of the estate?  The CEO and Board have any idea you stole it?  Think they'd care?  -- Just getting started, dearest, dearest Bro.  ... Delusionally believe I haven't more than enough time, resources, determination to expose you for the thieving piece of crap you truly are?  ... Under $500 back in 2013?  Remarkably parsimonious with stolen money aren't you?   What does it feel like to have gutlessly ripped off an incompetent old man?  -- Dear old Dad.  Certainly, look forward to digging much deeper into how you and your shyster lawyer managed to bamboozle and loot the old bastard.  Back in the day, certainly wouldn't have fallen for your bullshit.  Would have kicked your worthless, thieving ass out the door.  Intend to expose it to the light of day.  Indeed, a public service. Seatbelts on, you thieving son of a bitch. Tally ho!

TC 3-24-17

... Brief aside, dear readers, for a most exceptional reason.  -- Although infrequent, pressing ongoing personal business must come first on rare occasion.  Hope you agree, moreover, find it entertaining, -- as this writer did crafting what follows.  Principle trumps all.  Remains prime mover, prime directive no matter what.

This pressing issue involves a family thief. A heartless predator preying on the elderly who must be held accountable, exposed to the light of day.  Especially, since authorities failed to do their job.  The following is part of that continuing effort to expose this piece of shit for whom and what he is:

Hey, Bro?  Guess what?  Me, again.  Most determined pain in the ass.  Miss me?  An inconvenient, nagging hemorrhoid that simply won't go away no matter what.  -- A pile with a smile that takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

... Delusionally think this most persistent nemesis of yours conveniently disappeared to parts unknown, vanished in thin air? To give a turd a break?  Wake up.  Not a chance, you thieving son of a bitch.  ... When you insanely believe this writer's gone and you're finally in the clear, guess what, here I am, right in your face.

Despite what's going on across our formerly great country, always have more than enough time for personal business.  That is, exposing you, Bro, to the glaring light of day.  A pathetically greedy predator.  Your target, who else, the elderly.  Most defenseless, vulnerable, an easy fleece.  -- Thought you'd steal from the surly old curmudgeon with impunity, no consequences?

Successfully escape accountability? Avoid detection, all responsibility?  Blatant theft of an old man's estate?  A little help from a bought and paid for hopelessly greedy unprincipled shyster?  Supposed cake walk due to 1800 miles separation?  No one to hold you accountable?  Your feet to the fire?  What could you possibly been thinking?

You've read this publication before.  Know precisely who and what I am, what I do.  Never give up.  Never say die.  Ignore all obstacles.  Know full well Liberty In Peril modus operandi remains as relentlessly ferocious, blindingly intense as ever.

No punches pulled.  No slack.  No personal consideration.  Certainly, not for a gutless son of a bitch, no more than a thieving predator.  Looted target, guess who, dear old dad.  Pitiful.  Delusionally believe you had the booty coming?  An entitlement?  For having had to put up with his shit all those years?  Wake up.

Hear of Historic Deerfield?  Of course, you have, you lying son of a bitch.  Forget?  You're one of their not-so-generous 'benefactors.'  ... With all the money stolen from our father's estate, only bequeath them a piss poor $40 bucks?

Unbelievable.  An achingly tight, cheap, thieving, worthless piece of duplicitous crap.  ... Write-off?  Negligible.  ... Feather  in the cap?  How?  Delusionally believe your treachery would never see the light of day?  What planet do you live on?

Board of Trustees Chair Anne K. Groves know full well you looted the estate?  How about President Philip Zea?  Think both don't have a right to know?  How about Anne Lanning, Vice President For Museum Affairs?  To say nothing of Susan Martinelli, Vice President For Business Affairs?

These officials are entitled to know precisely whom they're doing business with.  A thief.  Gutless phony.  Blow-hard fraud.  Hoity-toity dandy.  Worse?  An unprincipled thief who stole from his father.  ... Glaring light of day sucks, doesn't it, Bro?  No escaping the unvarnished truth, this most bitter reality.  Not a chance.

Saddest of all?  Back in the day, Hell would have frozen over before anyone would have have been able to rip off the craggy old bastard.  Remember quite well how intent, determined he was not to be fleeced late in life by a sick son of a bitch like you.

A leech.  Ironic, isn't it?  Gutless rip off of an old man who couldn't adequately handle his affairs any longer.  How do you sleep nights?

Fraud runs in the family, clearly.  History repeating itself.  Right in the footsteps of our grandmother's son, who callously ripped off his mother decades ago.  Again, another achingly pathetic piece of human excrement.  Just like you.  Intend to lay it bare.  Methodically.  Painstakingly. In great detail.  Living, breathing color.

For all to see.  A public service.  Exposure of the criminal piece of human excrement you truly are.  For sustained public review.  A goddamned thief.  Pissed? Chagrined?  Nonplused?  Tough shit.  Sue.  Would certainly immediately post all discovery no matter the consequences.

All snail mail will be returned unopened.  No phone tag.  Got something to say? Email.  Say it right here.  On this website.  In public.  For the world to see.  Will be posted in its entirety.  No editing.  Unlike you, this writer doesn't lie, cheat, steal.  Honors his word.  Intend to expose you precisely for whom and what you are.

Duplicitous predator who preyed on his own father.  Blinding exposure to benefit the community.  Have nothing to lose providing this public service, but you do.  No better disinfectant than sunshine.

.. Think the old bastard not spinning in his grave?  -- Old lady not doing the same?  One thing for certain.  Neither brought you up to be a goddamned thief.  Yet, here we are.  ... Until next time, Tally Ho!

... Hey, Sheriff? Is it true Llano County Attorney Becky Lange has advised you to stay out of the "Berardi Property Rights Denial-Damage To Pace Arrow-Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764" fiasco?  That right, Bill?  Isn't that obstruction of justice?  Also true your deputies have advised the Bolens to accept the status quo and not force the no-trespassing issue with Greene?  If so, isn't that also obstruction and official oppression?  When will you do your job, Bill?  As an elected official, you answer to the public, forget?  -- No honor?  ... No honor at all? If the foregoing allegations are indeed true, didn't you swear an oath to uphold the law and Constitution?  Why aren't you doing so?  No guts?

Your deputy has been accused of abusing authority.  What action have you taken other than ignore the complaint?  Why aren't both Rodriguez and the County Attorney under criminal investigation?  The County Attorney appears to be obstructing justice, accepting the word of Greene in lieu of two surveyor companies who strongly assert otherwise.  Both the County Attorney and District Attorney have ignored complaints.  Par for the course in Llano County, isn't it?  Failed to do their jobs.  No surprise there, right, Bill?  Both receiving 'special consideration' up to and/or including a bribe from Greene?  Regardless, clearly, no justice in Nazi Llano County.  Bottom line?  Desperate need for an outside criminal investigation.  Conveniently, forget?  This County is ruled by men, certainly not rule of law and the United States Constitution.

Precisely, why there is desperate need for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, and prosecute criminal law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose only mandate would be to adjudicate such cases.  Total independence.  Until that happens, the criminal bastards who falsely believe they run and own this hell hole County will continue to do as they please.

Tim Chorney, Publisher
Liberty In Peril

Some salient quotes occurring later on in this edition vis a vis unfinished business County officials continue to ignore:

... "No justice.  Precisely, why there is desperate need for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, and prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court that would adjudicate only these cases.  Total independence.  The only way to rein in these criminals, particularly the murderers in blue.

Sadly, the achingly clueless bastards in law enforcement don't need a legitimate reason to kill.  Enjoy carte blanche to murder on the job.  Nearly always, with impunity.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Sue the living shit out of the jackbooted motherf--kers, the department, and the city.  Any officer engaged in, or threatening this kind of unnecessary violence needs to be criminally prosecuted.  Not protected and coddled.  Not put on paid leave, -- no more than a paid vacation.  Not sent home without pay to catch up on his beauty sleep.

Firing is egregiously insufficient.  How can the law enforcement community be trusted?  No foreign power, no terrorist organization, not even the criminal element presents a greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than the criminal jackbooted bastards in law enforcement.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Madam County Attorney?  "Sonny Boy?"

These are extremely dangerous times for our formerly great country.  ... Hear the rumble?  An unwanted dreaded second American revolution catastrophically looming.  -- As our legislators and other government officials figuratively 'fiddle while Rome burns.'

Not good enough.  Nowhere near.  Short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, only one way for these atrocities to end.  Again, time for a new federal agency whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose sole function would be to adjudicate such cases.  Total independence.

Local  and state authorities are egregiously incapable of handling these cases. Tend to protect their own.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Goes with the territory, doesn't it, Bill?  Precisely, why there is no faith or trust in your criminal jackbooted bastards.  Local authorities here in Nazi Llano County have their heads figuratively, securely lodged so far up their clueless ass their eyeballs are turning inside out.  Protect and coddle your clueless, out of control officers.  Imagine that.

Unadulterated, blatant ongoing horse shit.  ... Right, Bill?  F--k these jackbooted bastards.  Aren't worth a crap.  Continually abrogate their oaths of office to protect and defend the United States Constitution.  ... Right, Sheriff?  Includes not only deputies, but the brass as well.  No principles.  No honor.  Lying, conniving, abusive, murderous jackbooted thieving thugs.  The American Civil Liberties Union needs to step up and represent the victims of abusive law enforcement.

To say nothing of innocent civilians all across our formerly great country who are victimized by abusive police.  Need far better representation than a public defender.  Forget?  It's how the bastards in government line government coffers.  All too often, looting the innocent.  Those on the bottom of the food chain.  ... Right, Sheriff?

No justice.  The American Way.  Nazi America.  When is this shit finally going to end?  All of it.  Wake up, Sheriff.  Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office?  Three hundred two weeks, now.  A goddamned disgrace.

Why are you still sitting on this information?  What are you hiding, Sheriff?  What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise?  Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons?  Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.  Who the hell are they?

When will the goddamned 'law' 'enforcement' community finally stop making excuses for engaging in outrageous criminal activity including blatant murder, violent assault, sexual assault, theft, drug trafficking, etc.?  List can go on and on.  Protecting its own no matter what it does or doesn't do?  Convenient, isn't it, Sheriff?  Again, no foreign power, no terrorist organization, not even the criminal element presents a greater threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties than all branches and levels of government, -- including law enforcement.

Corruption within law enforcement remains an existential threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.  So what else is new?  ... Right, Bill?  Same old duplicitous, aggressively stupid shit occurs right here in Nazi Llano County.  ... Doesn't it, Sheriff?

Think it'll change any time soon?  Don't hold your breath, readers.  Not how things work in Nazi America, right, Sheriff?  Highly reminiscent of how your goons operate though, isn't it, Bill?  Forget?  'Stupid is as stupid does.'  F--ked up is f--ked up no matter where, no matter how.  Problem throughout all law enforcement.

Including right here in Nazi Llano County, right, Sheriff?  Too many officers clearly have their heads securely lodged where the sun seldom shines.  Egregious insanity continues to be perpetrated by the criminal jackbooted bastards in blue.  Ongoing issue.  All over our formerly great country.

Not just in Dallas as in the Guyger case, but all over the nation.  No end to it.  Surprised?  Why?  In today's increasingly national socialist climate anything goes, right, Bill?  Live in a de facto fascist police-state, quickly transitioning to the Trump nazi's Fourth Reich.  Certainly, a problem here in Nazi Llano County, isn't it, Sheriff?  Your goons, however, aren't held accountable when they egregiously f--k up.  Ever.

Precisely why you refuse to release information on your deputies to the long-suffering public? That is, employment history, criminal background, results of drug testing, etc..  ... Got to protect your criminal jackbooted thugs preying on the citizenry with virtual impunity, right, sir?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to a Kingsland property owner?  To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.  Why are you protecting this clueless son of a bitch, Sheriff?

Why hasn't he been prosecuted for official oppression?  Where is financial compensation for the damage this jackbooted piece of human excrement is responsible for? Ferociously pointedly, why are the District Attorney and the County Attorney continuing to protect this jackbooted piece of shit?  He and others like him present an exigent threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

Equally to the point, why are your jackbooted pieces of human excrement refusing to enforce Berardi's property rights?  Your goons have failed to take action against Theresa Ahrens when she tore down a no trespassing sign and barrier on Berardi's property.  Have you, your goons, and/or Madam County Attorney been bribed by Johnny Greene?

Ahrens frequently drives all the way through Berardi's property.  Coup de grace?  When Berardi complained to Llano County Deputy Idle about the trespassing, the officer's response was insane.  Said the Sheriff told him to tell Berardi since Ahrens believes she owns his property she can't be charged with trespassing.  Perfect Catch-22, right, Sheriff?  You're not fit for office, Bill.  Bribed by Johnny Greene?

Why is Theresa Ahrens allowed by your goons to dictate what vehicles can and cannot be parked on Berardi's property?  Ahrens claims she has proof the property belongs to her where the vehicle was parked.  Has failed to produce it. Surveyors say otherwise.  Back up Berardi.  Yet, your jackbooted bastards refuse to enforce Berardi's property rights.  Why?  Somebody lining somebody's pockets, Sheriff?

Ms. Ahrens micro-mini portable 'house' is parked on an unused unmarked Llano County road.  Imagine that.  Madam County Attorney well-aware.  Has done nothing.  Shit squat.  Egregiously ignored her oath of office.  Someone bribing you, Becky?  Lining your pockets, Counselor?  Paying you not to sell the unused unmarked County road to Berardi?  Doesn't the County want and need the sale money, to say nothing of the resultant tax income?

No question, County and State agencies remain determinedly, concertedly, achingly incapable of criminal investigation of their own.  Precisely, why a new federal agency desperately needs to be created whose sole function would be to investigate, arrest, charge, prosecute corrupt, abusive, criminal officers, prosecutors, and judges in a special court whose sole function would be to adjudicate only such cases.  Total independence.  Certainly, go a long, long way to cleaning up this cess pool County.  Rein in the outrageously corrupt, abusive, achingly inept, self-serving assholes who run and own this hell hole.

Sheriff, you falsely claim the Kingsland County Commissioner has the authority to resolve this ongoing property rights issue.  Clearly, doesn't.  You, Madam County Attorney, and "Sonny Boy" are certainly an egregious impediment, continue to determinedly stonewall.  Someone's pockets are being lined.  Again, where's financial compensation for the damage Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 is directly responsible for to the Pace Arrow?  Why hasn't he been prosecuted for this damage, to say nothing of infringement of Berardi's property rights?  -- Just getting started, Sheriff.  Far more to come.

-- You're not doing your jobs, Sheriff.  You've got a loose vicious dog problem in Kingsland, Bill.  When will you and the troops finally do something about this ongoing issue?  Certainly, a recurring problem on Skyline, particularly on occasion at the intersection of Odessa.  Pedestrians, runners, and cyclists are at risk.  Too busy lining County coffers with bogus tickets?"

... Hey, Sheriff?  Reportedly, promote Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 to Sergeant?  If true, yet another classic example of survival of the unfittest in the law enforcement community.  Readers are reminded this is the very same idiot, clueless asshole responsible for thousands of dollars of damage to the Pace Arrow as reported in each edition of this publication.  Far more to Kingsland property owner James Berardi in a property dispute.  -- A dispute engineered by Johnny Greene, apparently financed by a bribe to the former County Attorney, current District Attorney, and Sheriff.  A federal investigation of Llano County government and the aforementioned allegedly corrupt and abusive bastards in this ongoing fiasco is desperately needed.  Tim Chorney.

Counselor:

The enclosed emails were sent to the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff, respectively, vis a vis the above matter.  Remain unanswered.  The County Attorney appears to be protecting and defending the deputy at behest of Kingsland property owner Johnny Greene.  May have received some consideration from Greene up to and including a bribe.  Are the County Attorney, Greene, and the Deputy under criminal investigation?  If not, why not?

Re:  Berardi Property Rights Denial-Damage To Pace Arrow-Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764

Counselor:

As you're well aware, we have an outrageously corrupt, abusive, achingly inept Llano County Sheriff's Office here in Nazi Llano County.  Worse, you and your office aid and abet these SS jackbooted bastards in black.  The issue at the moment is the same it's been the last six months.

How is it two surveyor companies, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, even the goddamned Sheriff himself now states Kingsland resident James Berardi owns the lots in contention all these months?

Yet, you ludicrously assert that's not the County's legal position.  It's not?  Why not?  You claim you're not a real estate expert.  Rather than accept the advice of two surveyor companies, the Precinct 3 Commissioner, the Appraisal District, the Tax Office, and even the Sheriff himself, you've inexplicably chosen to follow the advice of property owner Johnny Greene, -- who conveniently happens to be reportedly in the oil industry.

Question to be asked.  Could you have received any 'consideration' in return, -- up to and including a bribe?  Only way to know for sure is for the District Attorney to conduct a criminal investigation.  Apparently, there has been none.  If not, why not?

Equally pointedly, why hasn't Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764 been held criminally accountable for egregious abuse of power involving denial of property rights to this Kingsland property owner?  To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Our achingly useless, worthless, gutless Sheriff has ignored an email vis a vis the damage this jackbooted thug is responsible for.  Interestingly, his fellow officers believe him to be an idiot.  Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized  this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot.  Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved.  Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back?  To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road?  Why hasn't she been evicted by the County?  Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens?  Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery?  Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue.  For what?  Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

How about Bolen who hasn't a pot to piss in, but was nonetheless f--ked over by Greene to say nothing of an egregiously inept County, to say nothing of you and your goddamned equally incompetent office?

None of this is going away, Counselor, -- any time soon.  Will not be swept under the carpet as all the other crap going on in this hell hole County.  Not a chance.  Expect a full expose in this publication whether or not this outrageous fiasco finally gets resolved.  Including full public exposure of both the Sheriff and his jackbooted thug.

Who are they, Sheriff? Their past history?  An ongoing investigation remains a lame bullshit excuse.  How can you and your goons be trusted when you refuse to disclose information? Three hundred two weeks.  Especially, your egregious failure to disclose the identity of the officers who pulled the trigger.  To cover your sorry ass, Sheriff?  Those of your thugs?  The people have a right to know what happened, how it went down.  You don't understand that, Sheriff?  Sadly, clearly, you answer to no one.  Including taxpayers.  Especially, taxpayers.

Until you and your goons come clean, doubt will remain this was indeed a good shoot.  The longer you drag your feet, the greater the doubt.  Think not?  Wake up.  Your credibility has tanked.  Isn't getting any better as this bullshit continues unabated.  Three hundred two weeks.  Still no identification of the officers involved  ... Can't get your stories straight?  In line?  Discrepancy between LCSO and DPS? Wake up, Sheriff.  The public no longer buys the bullshit.  No longer trusts you.  On this and many, many other issues.  You have no credibility.  Absolutely, none.

Readers, this is but one of about four other highly questionable killings by law enforcement in Llano County in the last decade or so.  There was one within the City of Llano, another in a field near Fuzzy's Corner, Buchanan Dam, yet another in Point Tella, Buchanan Dam, still another in Tow.  If there are any others I may have neglected to mention, kindly email.

It's time the public be fully informed.  -- Know what we're dealing with here and how 'law' 'enforcement' operates in this hell hole County.  If these jackbooted bastards are not reined in, the life lost could be many  others courtesy of a law enforcement system that is no longer accountable to anyone.  ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

The Sheriff seems to have no clue the people who pay him and his goons are entitled to know whom is killing whom and why.  This shit always seems to be swept under the carpet.  Ignored.  The attitude of these jackbooted sons of bitches is trust us.  They can't be.  They've lied too many times.  Refuse to be accountable to anyone.  We live in a goddamned fascist police-state where law enforcement does as it pleases. Usually, with impunity.  This has to change.

The Texas Rangers have become rubber stamp to atrocities committed by law enforcement.  This also has to change.  No one is holding law enforcement accountable any longer.  No one.  No one in state or federal government. This is precisely why Ferguson triggered such an uproar.  There was no justice there.  None here.  None anywhere.  Officers are abusive, corrupt, inept.

Falsely ticket and arrest the innocent to line County coffers.  Court fees charged continue to be horrendous.  -- Aren't taxpayers already looted to pay these costs?  Aren't you not only double f--king those falsely accused, but taxpayers also hellaciously looted to pay the very same costs?   Yet, the criminal bastards in power in Llano continue to pile on the fees. This is nothing more than goddamned bullshit.  This money finds its way into the pockets of the corrupt, abusive bastards who falsely believe they run and own this hell hole.

Would you believe the last time the Sheriff's Office happened to be 'audited' during the Garrett regime, reportedly, auditors couldn't figure out what went where and why? Yet, surprise, surprise.  Nothing was done.  There has to be transparency.  There is none.  Why would these thieving bastards want any?  ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  How else could they so easily steal and loot with virtual impunity?  Worse, this reinforces jackbooted power in this goddamned, godforsaken hell hole County.

The public has a right to know the histories of the Sheriff's goons.  Clearly, the Sheriff doesn't think so.  That is, where they came from.  Why they left where they were.  What is happening here is the Sheriff is using 'personnel matters' as a convenient excuse to deny the public access to the history of outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept officers who are no more than criminals themselves.

He's protecting his outrageously corrupt, abusive, inept jackbooted bastards.  Worse, the standards imposed by sheriff's offices statewide with the exception of metropolitan counties are well below those of DPS and city police departments.  Why?  So the corruption, abuse, ineptness, and outright stealing can continue unabated?  This has to change.  ... Can't have that, can we?  Sheriff?  TL?

The public should understand Llano County authorities have it all sewn up.  Did you know the Texas Attorney General does not have the authority to investigate and prosecute County authorities on his own?  The District Attorney has to call for an investigation by the Texas Rangers.  Then, the State can prosecute if it so chooses.

Consequently?  Guess what?  Nothing will happen.  Nothing ever does.  The goddamned corruption continues unabated until you, the public, pressure authorities.  Precisely, why we all enjoy the 'best' government money can buy. Literally.  Without question, the corrupt, abusive, inept sons of bitches are all bought and paid for.  Firmly clamped to the taxpayer tit.  Dependent on money looted from innocent citizens caught in their web.  Phony fines and court costs cleverly designed to f--k the innocent and enrich the pieces of shit who falsely believe they run and own Llano County. Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

Interestingly, the former Sheriff and District Attorney were reportedly forced to retire after an outrageous scandal involving a drunk driving police officer from out of town.  Including special treatment of the drunken son of a bitch that no other citizen caught doing the same would have been afforded. An honest, honorable Llano County Deputy suffered the consequences. Forget? Great officers do not last in this hell hole County. ... Right, Sheriff?  TL?  "Sonny Boy?"  Madam County Attorney?

With all ongoing abuse in this goddamned County, one thing remains for damned sure.  We're just getting started, Sheriff.  You will continue to be exposed for whom and what you and your corrupt, abusive, inept jackbooted bastards have become, truly are, not what you phonies purport to be, that is, how you continue to f--k over a public you've falsely sworn to protect and defend.  -- Exposure, the only way short of an unwanted dreaded revolution to force desperately needed change in a goddamned fascist police-state. The Fourth Reich.

Have your jackbooted thugs been tested for steroids, Sheriff?  If you've nothing to hide, Bill, release the results of all drug testing.  'Personnel matters?'  Bullshit.  Looted taxpayers have the right to know.  They're footing the bill for all this goddamned corruption, abuse, ineptness. When will you and the boys end the shakedowns?  Looting of the innocent to line County coffers?  No honor at all?

Where are your swastika armbands, you fascist son of a bitch?  You and your thugs remain out of uniform.  Once again, Sheriff, and ad nauseum, did you and/or your goons pressure Schilling to exit the race?  Did you steal the election? If so, an aggressively stupid, achingly gutless public gets what it truly deserves.  One of the most corrupt, abusive, inept 'law' 'enforcement' agencies in our formerly great country.

While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception.  On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe.  She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop.  She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office.  Aggressive stupidity at a time the Kingsland business community is indeed suffering, can least afford it.  Further proof positive of the old adage 'can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid.'

Why would, why should both customers put up with this?  Think this hasn't happened to others?

Highly reminiscent of our outrageously bought and paid for judiciary, Llano County prosecutors, Sheriff Bill Blackburn and his criminal SS jackbooted bastards in black who continue to egregiously disgrace themselves and the badge, do as they please regardless of the law and Constitution, carefully consider the following.  It's appalling.  Runs against the grain of everything our formerly great country once stood for.  No longer.

Llano County DA "Sonny Boy" is in the news.  Received an award.  The DailyTrib reports:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recognized District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee on August 22 for his efforts in prosecuting natural and cultural resource violations as well as environmental crimes. The commission named the 33rd and 424th district attorney the 2019 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Prosecutor of the Year. McAfee serves Burnet, Llano, Blanco, and San Saba counties. Elected in November 2012 and taking office on January 1, 2013, he has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases involving Texas game wardens and Texas State Park police officers."

The District Attorney has ignored a complaint filed earlier by this publication regarding special treatment accorded Texas oil man Johnny Greene by the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff vis a vis a property dispute involving a local banker, three other local property owners with homes encroaching on land they don't own, one of which is on an unused Llano County road.  To say nothing of damage to a Pace Arrow motorhome on that property.  All a result of egregious abuse of authority by Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764.  The circumstances of this fiasco can be found above in each and every edition of this publication since this happened two and a half years ago.  The Sheriff, the County Attorney, and the District Attorney have all determinedly, concertedly ignored this ongoing, unresolved fiasco raising one ferociously pointed question.  How much were they bribed?

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.

7-3-20

Last three months been getting online at the Kingsland HEB.  Met quite a few readers at the picnic table.  -- People I didn't personally know, but who came up and introduced themselves.  Certainly, grateful for your concern, caring, and moral support.  One of the Front End managers, Kevin, had granted permission to plug in and access HEB Customer wifi at the picnic table some three months ago.  Someone in County government must have subsequently complained. Three months after the fact.  LOL.  Finally got the boot 6-27-20 from the achingly gutless Store Manager who couldn't, or wouldn't stand up to pressure from this asshole.

Pathetic, isn't it?  LOL.  Certainly, knew it was coming.  Hard to believe it took three months.  LOL.  Apparently, the gutless Store Manager, Monty, sent out the second in command, Dan, to deliver the happy news.  Spoke to him awhile, but sadly as expected, he had nothing substantive to say.  Other than, "leave."  LOL.  Advised him to send out the clearly reluctant Store Manager who apparently wanted to avoid the encounter.  Finally, came out.  Imagine that.

Asked the Store Manager, Monty Young, for a business card.  Remarkably, he had none.  Couldn't be, could it?  LOL.  An HEB Store Manager with no business card?  How is that possible?  Unlimited corporate greed?  Aryan arrogance of a privately-owned corporation?  Or, was he simply lying?  Informed him he'd indeed be front and center in this next edition.

Before getting into specific detail vis a vis my conversation with the Store Manager, it must be stated staff at the Kingsland HEB is second to none.  Have known many of them for years.  Work extremely well together as a team.  Certainly, exceptionally customer-friendly.  The problem with this store is not staff.  Not even the Store Manager and Assistant Manager per se, -- who apparently, despite their denials, had been pressured by someone.  It's the HEB corporate management suite at the root of most of the problems at this store.

The following salient issues were discussed with the Store Manager before I left.  -- Interestingly, none of which he denied.  LOL.  Readers, have you noticed cheaper generic products are either continually out of stock or discontinued?  Especially, after the store changed its product line weeks before the pandemic.  Apparently, in an effort to emulate the Marble Falls store that caters to the Horseshoe Bay elite.

New larger shopping carts were brought in to the Kingsland store so shoppers would supposedly buy more product, increase store sales.  Shelves are restocked 24 hrs.  Staff was unhappy because aisles are too narrow for the larger carts.  Makes it harder to stock shelves when the store is open.  Not only that, makes it much more difficult for shoppers to navigate the narrow aisles.

Product pricing has steeply increased.  They accomplish this both by directly raising prices, as well as in engaging in deception, that is, downsizing product.  One recent glaring example is their generic bleach.  For awhile, it was unavailable, out of stock.  Then, it was downsized from three quarts to two.  Price remained at $1.  A 33% increase.  Done deceptively.  At a time when inflation is supposedly non-existent.  What ever happened to the HCF quart and a half ice cream that sold for $1.99?  Long since gone.  Both aforementioned products had already been downsized once before.  LOL.  List can go on and on.  Unbridled corporate greed.

As I reminded the Store Manager, Kingsland residents, for the most part, are poor, young, elderly, and/or disabled, etc.  This store now caters to the rich who live on the lake and Sunrise Beach.  Not sustainable.  ... Especially, if the shit finally hits the fan vis a vis the Trump nazi, and/or a second shutdown occurs courtesy of the raging, poorly-handled, achingly mismanaged pandemic.

To store employees, all of whom I admire, consider personal friends, courageously provide your ongoing grievances to this publication.  I will publish them while protecting your identity.  If you won't stand up, nothing changes.

As I informed the Store Manager, the problem in Kingsland is the fact HEB has no substantive competition.  What is desperately needed is a Walmart or other major corporation to rattle the cage of local HEB management as well as the corporate management suite.  Until that occurs, nothing changes, shit happens.  ... Right, Monty?  Dan?

In the last two and a half weeks or so, three middle-aged women tripped and fell on the curb by the picnic table.  Third time, 6-26-20.  Took the Store Manager and Assistant Manager quite some time to exit the store and arrive with ice to quell the swelling of the woman who had fallen hard on her face.  I subsequently asked Monty to consider painting the curb iridescent red or orange to avoid injury and a future lawsuit.

Responded couldn't be painted red since it wasn't a fire zone.  Could certainly be painted orange or some other bright color.  If management doesn't care about a lawsuit, where is its concern for the pain and suffering if a customer trips, falls, and suffers serious injury?  ... Couldn't care less, Monty?  -- Or, is it, shortsightedly, insurance will indeed take care of it?  Wake up.  Just a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured and sues the living shit out of HEB.  Even if HEB prevails in court, it loses.  Consider the cost of bad publicity.

To the credit of management, both the Store Manager and Assistant Manager return carts to the front of the store, sanitize them, and pick up trash.  Recently, associates informed me the Store Manager wasn't happy about the performance of the Assistant Store Manager.  LOL.  Apparently, ole' Dan got too good at hiding in the store, shirking cart and other duties, etc.  LOL.  That's apparently changed.  ... Trouble in paradise, boys?  LOL.  Itching to retire, Dan?  LOL.  Give me a break.  Never a dull moment, -- at customer and staff expense.

Finally, to the motherf--ker in County government who likely complained, don't flatter yourself.  Three months?  What took so long you gutless piece of shit?  LOL.  No matter what, Liberty In Peril will remain up and running.  Despite the fact it's been more than 21 years, just the very beginning.  Far more to come.  Far more County corruption, malfeasance, criminal activity to be followed up, and/or exposed.  LOL.  ... Bribed by Johnny Greene, Madam County Attorney?

Readers are advised there is a sticker on the back of the power supply stating:  "Please remove this sticker."  It cannot be easily removed.  Will not peel off.  Have hesitated to scrape it off since doing so might obliterate anything underneath it, -- if anything.  It is not covering a vent and there is no technical reason that it be removed.  Certainly, did not affect operation of the supply for the last year and four months I've had the machine.

Uncommon ValorSeatbelts on.  Would you have the courage to do the same?  NBC News reports:

"Roman Haller owes his life to a 20-year-old housekeeper. He was conceived in the basement of a home in Poland where his parents and 10 other Jews hid out during World War II. It wasn’t just any house. It belonged to a Nazi officer, and it was his housekeeper who smuggled the Jews to the basement and took care of them in secret."

Think it couldn't happen here?

"Over two years, the young woman, Irena Gut, went to extraordinary lengths to keep the 12 people safe and ensure that Haller would get a chance at life. After finding out about the pregnancy, his parents asked Gut to help them perform an abortion because a crying baby would endanger all of their lives. But she insisted they have the baby. When the Nazi officer discovered the Jews in his basement sometime later, Gut made a harrowing bargain: She agreed to become his mistress in exchange for his silence. “Irena Gut is like a second mother to me,” Haller, now 77, said in a phone interview from his home in Munich. “Without her, I wouldn’t be alive.” In a remarkable twist, the Nazi officer also went on to play a significant role in his life. Gut, who died in 2003 at the age of 81, was one of many non-Jews who risked their lives to save those targeted by the Nazis during the Holocaust. They are the subject of a new campaign commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jan. 27, which falls on Thursday. The social media campaign — #Don’tBeABystander: Those Who Risked It All To Save A Life —  is intended to highlight the heroism of people like Gut and inspire future generations. It was launched by the nonprofit Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, also known as the Claims Conference, in partnership with Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center. “One of the things we’re trying to convey is the power of the individual — that one person can make a difference,” said Greg Schneider, executive vice president of the Claims Conference, which secures compensation for Holocaust survivors around the world. “In Jewish tradition, there’s a teaching, ‘If you save one life, it’s as if you’ve saved the whole world.’ These stories are perfect examples of that.” Schneider said there’s an urgency to educating people about the courageous acts of those known as “righteous rescuers” or “righteous among the nations.” Only about 150 who have been recognized by Yad Vashem are still alive. “They could have just looked the other way,” Schneider said. “They didn’t have to risk their own lives for somebody else’s.”

Would you?

Uncommon Valor:

"Born to a Polish Catholic family, Gut was the eldest of five daughters. She was a 17-year-old nursing student living away from home when the Germans and Russians invaded Poland in 1939. Gut joined a band of Polish resistance fighters hiding out in the woods. One day, she was alone on the outskirts of town when Russian soldiers spotted her and chased her down. She was gang-raped and beaten unconscious. After recovering at a Russian-run hospital, Gut managed to reunite with her family. But a few months after her 19th birthday, she was rounded up and forced to perform hard labor at a munitions factory in Poland. Gut, who was anemic, fainted one day at the feet of a German army major, Eduard Rugemer. He felt sympathy for the blond, blue-eyed teen and arranged a less taxing job at a soldiers’ mess hall about 280 miles away in the town of Ternopil, in what is now Ukraine but was then Poland. The brutality of the Nazis was still coming into focus then. Rumors swirled about Nazis rounding up Jews and forcing them into death camps. One Sunday in July 1942, Gut witnessed the horrors first hand: Nazi soldiers opening fire on Jews in the middle of a street. At one point, she saw a soldier toss a baby above his head and shoot it out of the air as if it were a clay pigeon."

Think it could never happen here?

“This was something you can never forget,” she said in a 2001 interview following the publication of her book, “In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Survivor.” Gut began working in a laundry room in the soldiers’ quarters where she supervised and soon befriended 12 German Jews. At night, she’d serve food and drinks to the Nazi officers. In the dining room one night, she overheard an SS commander say the Jews in the area would be cleared out within days. Gut knew this meant her friends in the laundry room would be killed. She wanted to save them but how? Then came an opportunity: Rugemer told her he was moving to a villa outside of town and wanted her to be his housekeeper. Over the next few days, Gut managed to sneak the Jews into the basement of the villa, where the previous owner had created a secret tunnel that led to a bunker beneath the gazebo out back. They all fell into a routine: Gut would see Rugemer off in the morning and then put the key in the door so he’d have to ring the bell to get back inside. Once he left, Gut would let the Jews out from the basement. They’d spend time in the house — often helping her to cook and clean — before descending back downstairs around the time Rugemer returned home. “They were like mice in a cheese shop guarded by a sleeping cat,” Gut said in her book. There were close calls — a Gestapo officer once showed up unannounced while some of the Jews were in the kitchen (Gut bought time by pretending she was in the shower and opened the door with her hair wet and a towel wrapped around her). One small oversight put them all in jeopardy. Gut was returning to the villa from a trip to town when she got swept up in a mass of people herded into the main square to watch the hanging of a Polish couple who were found to have been harboring Jews. The couple’s two children were also executed."

Think it couldn't happen here?  Wake up.

"She returned home so shaken by the event that she forgot to lock the door behind her. Two of the Jews were in the kitchen with her when the front door swung open and in walked Rugemer. He stared at the Jewish women and then stomped off to his office. Fearing he would call the Gestapo, Gut ran after him, kissed his hand and begged him to show mercy."

Think it couldn't happen here?  Wake up.

"He stormed out of the house. When he returned later that night, reeking of alcohol, he grabbed Gut and told her the one condition on which he would stay silent about the Jews hiding in his basement. She described their sexual encounter that night, the first of many, as “worse than rape.” “I knew I had to bear this shame alone. I could never tell my friends how I had bought their safety,” Gut said in her book. “Their honor would never allow them to hold me to this bargain.”  Weeks passed and the war continued to go badly for the Germans. As the Russians closed in on Ternopil, Rugemer prepared to flee and Gut presented the Jews with a plan: She would whisk them into the forest where they could wait out the war in a primitive hideout with Polish resistance fighters. With Rugemer’s tacit consent,  she smuggled them in small groups through the chaotic streets and dropped them off in the woods. It was there, sometime in the second week of May 1944, that Roman Haller was born. “I was born in the forest,” he said in an interview. “The date is not really clear.” All 12 made it out safely. Many months later, after the Nazis were defeated and Russia had seized control of the region, Gut made it back to Poland. She was hoping to find her family, but she received grim news instead: Her father had been killed and her mother and sisters arrested by the Soviet secret police. “Because of me,” she wrote, “the dangerous fugitive partisan.” Gut was devastated. She considered turning herself in to save her family. But she later found out they had been released and were in hiding. Gut was seen as a spy by the Soviets. She knew she could not seek out her family without putting them in danger. With the help of Jewish friends, she ultimately made it to a displaced persons camp in West Germany. In late 1949, she arrived in the U.S. She went on to marry an American, William Opdyke, a former United Nations delegate whom she had briefly met at the displaced persons camp. She bumped into him again after arriving in New York, and their relationship blossomed. She changed her name to Irene Gut Opdyke. The Opdykes settled in California and Irene gave birth to a daughter, Jeannie, but she never talked about her heroic past. Then one day when Jeannie was a teenager, she overheard her mother talking on the phone and soon realized it was not a typical conversation. The caller was a college student, a Holocaust denier who was conducting a random survey for a thesis related to World War II. “My mother got very emotional,” Jeannie Opdyke Smith said in an interview. “When she hung up the phone, she said she had allowed evil to win because she kept silent. That if people who knew better didn’t start speaking out, history would repeat itself.” From that point on, Irene Gut Opdyke told her story everywhere she could — rotary clubs, synagogues, schools. Soon newspapers were writing glowing feature stories."

Think it couldn't happen here?  Wake up.  Silence is not golden.  It's gutless, and sadly, can be deadly.

"Haller and Opdyke met each other for the first time when she visited Munich for a documentary film project. The baby whose life Opdyke made possible was by then about 40 years old. “It was very exciting for me to meet the woman who saved my life,” said Haller, who works to help Holocaust survivors as a senior representative for the Claims Conference in Germany. In media interviews later in life, Opdyke said she got the most joy out of telling her story to children. She had a specific message for them: You can do what I did. “Courage is a whisper from above,” she wrote in her book. “When you listen with your heart, you will know what to do and how and when.”

Continue to support the Trump nazi, his henchmen, and the nazi element in the Republican Party?  Think the above could never happen here?  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

Uncommon Valor.  Seatbelts on.  Have the courage to do the same?  Delusionally, believe it could never happen here?  The Washington Post reports:

"Manfred Gans had been waiting for this moment for the whole war, and now that it was here, he was stuck on desk duty. He had done his best since fleeing Nazi Germany in 1938 to keep track of his parents as they tried to escape the Nazis, and he had vowed to himself that he would rescue them as soon as he could. It was probably impossible, he knew, but as a highly trained British commando, it was slightly less impossible for him than just about anyone else on the planet. But first, he had to get back into the field of battle. Gans was part of an elite, top-secret unit called the “X Troop,” made up of German-speaking Jewish men scattered across the British front lines of World War II, dubbed by some as “the real ‘Inglourious Basterds.’ ” With the help of recently declassified documents, letters, diaries, interviews and in-depth research, historian Leah Garrett tells the story of these men — including Gans’s incredible journey — in the 2021 book “X Troop: The Secret Jewish Commandos of World War II.” “We have this vision of Jews during the Holocaust — which is true — that they were victims and slaughtered or that nice Gentiles rescued them,” Garrett told The Washington Post. “And this story is so unique … and optimistic in its own strange way, that these guys could fight back and get their agency back.”

Certainly, did.  Keep reading:

"Most of the 87 men who eventually served in the X Troop came to England when they were teenagers aboard “Kindertransport” trains, where they were assigned to farms, schools and hostels around the country for care. But not Gans. Though he grew up experiencing antisemitism, he came from a prominent Orthodox Jewish family, and in July 1938, when he was 16, his parents privately arranged his move to England. In London, he stayed with family friends and got a temporary visa. He was 10 when his mother sent him away to escape the Nazis. He never saw her again."

The following sound familiar?

"It’s rarely remembered today, but when World War II broke out in 1939, the British government, at Winston Churchill’s behest, immediately declared its 70,000 German and Austrian immigrants “enemy aliens,” even though the vast majority — about 55,000 — were Jewish refugees. And like Japanese Americans and Japanese immigrants in the United States, they were sent to internment camps in the U.K., Canada and Australia. Gans was sent to a filthy camp near Manchester, where the rats were plentiful and food was scarce, and then to a camp on the Isle of Man, where Jews were held alongside pro-Nazi Germans."

Outrageous, isn't it?  Not only what happened in England, but what happened here in the United States to Japanese Americans.  Readers are reminded these very same Japanese Americans volunteered to go fight in the Pacific.  Must not be forgotten the Japanese reserved horrific special 'treatment' for these men when captured and tortured.

"By 1940, some of the young men in the internment camps were allowed to go free if they volunteered in the Royal Pioneer Corps, a noncombat army unit that performed manual labor jobs like airfield construction and guarding bases. Even then, they were kept in segregated “alien” units and watched closely. Most of them, like Gans, were highly educated, in the best shape of their lives and aching to fight the Nazis. In the summer of 1942, at the height of Hitler’s power and at the suggestion of Lord Louis Mountbatten, Churchill made an about-face. Not only would some German-speaking Jewish men be allowed to enlist, but they would be trained as commandos. Ordinarily, commandos would be at the tip of the spear, capturing enemies, who would then be sent far behind the front lines to interpreters with the interrogation skills needed to extract information. It could be a slow process, and often their intel came too late to be helpful on the battlefield. But the X Troop trained as commandos and interrogators. They could capture enemies and grill them in German right then and there, mid-battle, when what they learned would be most helpful. The British formed similar units for immigrants with other language skills; there was also a French troop, a Dutch troop, Polish troop and so on. But the German-speaking Jews were meant to be a secret weapon, so they were dubbed X Troop. They were also forced to shed all aspects of their previous lives. They took on English names like George Lane and Colin Anson — Gans went by Fred Gray — and while undergoing grueling training in Wales, they practiced their backstories and English accents on locals. (They were apparently not very convincing, but the locals were happy to play along, Garrett wrote.) These young men formed lifelong bonds with one another, but once they made it out into the field, they didn’t fight together. “They’re parceled out in two and threes, because they become so valuable,” Garrett said. That’s how X Troopers ended up playing crucial roles in some of the most important battles in World War II — roles that until recently were top secret."

These men indeed played a most critical role in the fight:

"When D-Day finally arrived on June 6, 1944, Gans landed with British marine commandos on Sword Beach in France, with orders to advance three miles inland by the end of the day. His first thought upon hitting the beach, he later recounted to the BBC, was, “At last I’ve come back!” When British sappers blew a hole in the Germans’ steel barricades, Gans leaped through the gap and, in perfect German, ordered the Nazis on the other side to show him the path through their land mines. The British marines following Gans were the first to make it to the rendezvous point that day — and without a single casualty. In another mission, as the Allied forces made their way into France, Gans was assigned to a British tank battalion attacking a German radar station. He noticed a small periscope poking out of a bunker, inserted a grenade into it and then shot the grenade with his gun, filling the bunker with noxious fumes. About 150 Germans came out, waving white flags, and surrendered to the handful of marines. On more than one occasion, X Troop commandos, including Gans, persuaded much larger German forces to surrender, using bravado and their language skills to convince the enemy they were surrounded when they weren’t.

"As more and more of Europe was liberated and the end of the war seemed near, Gans was assigned to noncombat work in the Netherlands, which he found frustrating. In March 1945, a few days after his hometown in Germany, which just over the Dutch border, fell, he visited, spotting German civilians he had known his whole life who had turned against his family. His childhood home had been used as a torture facility by the Gestapo. His parents were long gone. The last he had heard, they had been moved from Bergen-Belsen to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in what is now the Czech Republic. By early May, he couldn’t wait another minute. Though it was clear the war would end soon — rumor was Adolf Hitler was already dead — there was still intense fighting in some places, and the Nazis were massacring Jews as fast as they could before they were forced to surrender. If his parents were still alive, they might not be for much longer."

Uncommon Valor:

"That’s how Gans ended up in a British military jeep, speeding through the heart of the Reich as it crumbled, on a 400-mile quest to save his parents. He had food rations, a few extra tanks of gas, a machine gun, a handgun, a bag of grenades and — to drive — a young private named Bob. Also, the brakes on the jeep did not work. They left at dawn on May 7, 1945. By the end of the day, Germany would surrender, but they had no way to know that. That night, they slept in a German barracks in Münster that had been taken over by American troops. The next day, they made it as far east as Kassel before hitting the Soviet front line, where the Red Army refused to let them cross. On the third day, they drove south before heading east again, arriving into the town of Aue with a flat tire. While the driver worked on repairing it, they were surrounded by German troops and civilians. Neither the Americans nor the Soviets had arrived there yet, and they were barraged with angry questions. There was a “lynch mob atmosphere,” Garrett said. They left as quickly as they could. After crossing the Czech border, they encountered thousands of German soldiers, who, seeing their British uniforms, demanded to be able to surrender to them. Gans refused. Later, he recalled a German woman, a civilian, begging him, “Please, you have to protect us. We cannot live under the Russians. They will rob us.” “Your soldiers have done far worse,” he told her. At another point, they met a few British prisoners of war walking on the road. They were rail-thin. “You ought to see what they did to the Jews,” they told Gans. Czech resistance fighters guided them to the gates of Theresienstadt, where the Red Army had arrived the previous day. The Soviet guards, shocked to see a British officer, let him through."

A hell hole.

"Inside, it was a horror. For part of the war, Theresienstadt was a “model camp,” a Potemkin village designed to trick the outside world into believing the Nazis were treating Jews well. There was no extermination area, and the prisoners here, mostly “cultured” Jews and the elderly, were fed decently, had entertainment and ran their own newspaper. But the days of carrying on the charade were long gone. When Gans arrived, tens of thousands had died of disease and starvation. Their bodies lay everywhere. Those still alive remained because, in the chaos of war, the Nazis had forgotten to exterminate them, according to Garrett."

Think it couldn't happen here?

Hundreds of starving people surrounded Gans’s jeep, and soon they directed him to a registrar’s office. The Nazis kept meticulous records of their cruelties. In this case, that was beneficial. Soon, he was driving to the building where his parents were supposed to be. Though they were German, they were in an area of the camp housing Dutch prisoners, since they had been hiding on a Dutch farm when they were arrested. Once there, Gans asked another prisoner to go in and tell his parents the news. He was afraid that if he surprised them, the shock might be too much for their weakened bodies. Then he went in. He described it this way in his war diary: “The next minutes are indescribable. I suddenly find myself in their arms. They are both crying wildly … I look at Father and in spite of having prepared myself for a lot, I have to bite my teeth together not to show my shock. He is hardly recognizable. Completely starved and wrecked.” News of the reunion spread quickly in the camp, and people surrounded the building, shouting “mazel tov” and breaking into song. They stayed up almost the whole night, talking, drinking tea and looking at the stars. The Soviets didn’t let Gans take his parents away from the camp. He wouldn’t have done it anyway; the journey back would have been too dangerous. He left his parents the next morning with a large box of rations and, they told him, “the will to live.” Gans and his driver arrived back at his post at 3 p.m. on May 10, carrying a dozen Allied prisoners of war they had picked up along the way. Gans also had a letter from the leader of the Dutch prisoners, which he hand-delivered to the Dutch princess; she had just returned from exile to re-form a government. Soon, the Dutch prisoners at Theresienstadt, including Gans’s parents, were flown back to safety in the Netherlands."

Get this:

"Most of the commandos in the X Troop didn’t have families to whom they could return; mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters were killed in the Holocaust. So they chose to continue using their English names and became British citizens. In her book, Garrett refers to each man by the name they stuck with after the war. Gans was the rare exception to return to his given name. He had his parents and his siblings, who had also escaped abroad, and even a grandmother who survived. Gans got a degree in engineering in the U.K. before marrying a childhood friend and immigrating to the United States. They had two children, Daniel and Aviva, and Gans had a successful consulting career. Gans died at his home in New Jersey in 2010, at 88."

A life of Uncommon Valor.  Delusionally believe the above couldn't happen here in the United States?  The Trump nazi, his henchmen, supporters, and the nazi element in the Republican Party present an exigent threat to life, liberty, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

No longer.

In follow-up to a case covered repeatedly here and elsewhere, The Associated Press reports:

"Three officers on trial for allegedly violating George Floyd’s civil rights were trained to use the least amount force necessary and had a duty to intervene against inappropriate force, the commander of the Minneapolis police training division at the time of Floyd’s killing testified Thursday. Inspector Katie Blackwell said officers are required to try to de-escalate a situation and, if force is used, to stop once the person is no longer resisting, then render any necessary medical aid they’re trained to provide. While she didn’t mention the officers specifically, she went through department policy and the training required of all officers. Federal prosecutors say former Officers J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao failed to act to save Floyd’s life on May 25, 2020, as fellow Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the Black man’s neck for 9 1/2 minutes while Floyd was handcuffed, facedown and gasping for air. Kueng knelt on Floyd’s back, Lane held his legs and Thao kept bystanders back, according to prosecutors. Blackwell testified that it is critical to move someone from a prone position onto their side, otherwise “the concern is that they would die in custody.” Body camera video shows that Lane twice asked if they should roll Floyd onto his side but was rebuffed. Officers had responded to a 911 call that Floyd, 46, tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill at a corner store. The videotaped killing triggered worldwide protests and a reexamination of racism and policing. Whether the officers deprived Floyd of medical aid is a key element to the charge, and prosecutors have sought to show jurors that responding paramedics were not given important information, and that Floyd should have been given medical attention immediately. An emergency room physician on duty at Hennepin County Medical Center when Floyd was brought in testified that it was too late to save Floyd. Dr. Bradford Langenfeld said paramedics told him that although they had tried to resuscitate Floyd for about 30 minutes, he never regained a pulse. He said further attempts to restart Floyd’s heart at the hospital failed, and he declared Floyd dead after about a half-hour."

The Associated Press reports:

"A federal trial against three former Minneapolis police officers seeks to hold them responsible for not stopping George Floyd’s murder — and perhaps strike a blow against long-standing police culture that breeds reluctance to rein in fellow officers. The circumstances of Floyd’s death — pinned under Officer Derek Chauvin’s knee for more than nine minutes, recorded from multiple camera angles — may help prosecutors clear the bar for conviction on a charge that’s rarely brought, in part because it can be difficult to prove. Regardless, several former federal prosecutors and legal experts see a message in the Department of Justice’s pursuit of charges accusing J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao of violating Floyd’s civil rights. “This sends a real message to counterbalance that very strong cultural set of influences in policing that often prevent an officer from stepping forward and reporting or stopping misconduct,” said Jonathan Smith, former chief of the department division that oversees police civil rights inquiries. The federal charges require prosecutors to prove the ex-officers willfully deprived Floyd of his constitutional rights — meaning that they knew what they were doing was wrong and still went ahead."

Here's the problem:

"Police departments and local prosecutors have their own means to punish officers who don’t intervene. But high-profile examples show how risky it is, both personally and professionally, for officers who do intervene or who cooperate with investigations of fellow officers. In Chicago, a key police witness against three Chicago officers charged with trying to cover up the 2014 shooting of Laquan McDonald testified that she was taunted as a “rat” by fellow officers who said her calls for assistance while on duty should be ignored. In Florida late last year, an officer with less than three years experience pulled a sergeant by his belt away from a handcuffed suspect, apparently afraid he was about to pepper spray the man. The sergeant, a 21-year veteran, grabbed the officer — at one point placing his hand against her throat. And in Buffalo, New York, Officer Cariol Horne was fired in 2008 after an arbitration process ruled that she had put other officers at risk when she stopped a fellow officer whose arm was around a handcuffed suspect’s neck. The Florida officer drew the support of her chief for stepping in, though his public comments came only after a Miami TV station published video of the conflict. Horne, the Buffalo officer, was ultimately granted a pension — but only after a lengthy court battle and a push to change state law. Floyd’s May 2020 killing prompted many police leaders to boost their own training on officers’ duty to intervene when a fellow officer puts someone in danger. Since mid-2020, 21 of the country’s 100 largest police departments adopted policies on officers’ duty to intervene and lawmakers in 12 states have approved similar laws, according to the Council on Criminal Justice’s Task Force on Policing. Minneapolis added a “duty to intervene” policy in 2016. Days after Floyd’s murder, city officials agreed to strengthen it. The state Human Rights Department now can take the Minneapolis Police Department to court for any violations."

Certainly, a step in the right direction to bring the jackbooted bastards in law enforcement to justice.

"Joseph Giacalone, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a retired New York police sergeant, said officers know the consequences of federal prosecution far outweigh those of internal sanctions. “Police know there’s no limit to what the federal government can do,” Giacalone said. “I definitely think now the risk of a federal charge is in the back of the mind.” Federal civil rights violations that result in death are punishable by up to life in prison or even death, but those sentences are extremely rare. Federal sentencing guidelines rely on complicated formulas that indicate the officers in Floyd’s killing would get much less if convicted."

Needs to change.

"During opening statements to jurors in the Floyd case, Kueng’s defense attorney noted that Chauvin was the most senior officer present and called “ all of the shots.” Later in the week, the attorney sought to show the department instilled a sense of obedience in recruits and failed to show effective ways of intervening when force is misused."

Expect better of a shyster?

"For some experts, the case’s spotlight on Kueng, Lane and Thao represents yet another opportunity to jolt individual police officers and department leaders into action and potentially prevent dangerous misconduct that erodes trust in the entire profession. “We can’t stop and think it was just Chauvin,” said Kami Chavis, a professor at Wake Forest University School of Law. “Typically, within a police department, it’s a small percentage of officers that are going to behave in that way. But when that small group is allowed to go unchecked, you are telegraphing to others what the culture is and that this is tolerated.”

Until that changes, there will be no faith or trust in law enforcement.

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.  Forfeiture of liberty.  At the hands of outrageously corrupt and abusive government.

No longer.

How do you return all decades lost?  United Press International reports:

"A Philadelphia man who spent 37 years in prison for murder had all charges against him dropped by the district attorney's office Thursday. Willie Stokes was originally released from prison earlier this month after a federal court judge vacated his conviction, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. Stokes was tried and convicted in 1984 for the murder of Leslie Campbell and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole. But since that time, the key witness that testified against him maintained that he was coerced into doing so by homicide detectives, who bribed him with sexual favors and drugs."

The jackbooted bastards in blue wouldn't do anything like that, would they?

"Franklin Lee recanted his testimony and was soon after prosecuted for perjury."

What about the jackbooted bastards who bribed him?  Why weren't they prosecuted long before they died?

"Lee also testified that prosecutors told him he would receive a favorable deal on his open cases in exchange for testimony against Stokes."

Nothing quite like bribery, is there?  ... Right, Sheriff?

"There was no other evidence linking Stokes directly to the crime and the district attorney's office did not disclose Lee's perjury conviction to Stokes, which could have aided in his appeal process. "After a thorough and independent review, the federal court determined that Mr. Stokes was the victim of an egregious violation of his constitutional rights, and we are convinced that the federal court's ruling was correct," Matthew Stiegler, who serves as supervisor of the district attorney's federal litigation unit, told the Inquirer. The so-called sex-for-lies scheme was reportedly widespread at the time."

Anything changed?  Apparently, not:

"Earlier this month, the Inquirer reported on five other men serving time in prison who claim they were put there by the same Philadelphia detectives. It accused the men, who have both have since died, of trading drugs and sexual favors in exchange for false testimony to secure convictions. Stokes has now filed a lawsuit against the estates of both deceased detectives, as well as two former prosecutors and the City of Philadelphia. "This remarkable case is marked by prosecutorial and policing practices that were too pervasive during the so-called tough-on-crime 1980s and 1990s, and unfortunately persist in far too many jurisdictions today," Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement earlier this month."

No shit.  Goes on all over the country.  ... Right, Sheriff?

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards who knew the truth remained gutlessly silent as law enforcement lied.  In follow-up to a case covered repeatedly here and elsewhere, The Associated Press reports:

"Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat in a deep-red state, was immersed in a difficult reelection campaign when he received a text message from the head of the state police: Troopers had engaged in “a violent, lengthy struggle” with a Black motorist, ending with the man’s death. Edwards was notified of the circumstances of Ronald Greene’s death within hours of his May 2019 arrest, according to text messages The Associated Press obtained through a public records request. Yet the governor kept quiet as police told a much different story to the victim’s family and in official reports: that Greene died from a crash following a high-speed chase. For two years, Edwards remained publicly tight-lipped about the contradictory accounts and possible cover-up until the AP obtained and published long-withheld body-camera footage showing what really happened: white troopers jolting Greene with stun guns, punching him in the face and dragging him by his ankle shackles as he pleaded for mercy and wailed, “I’m your brother! I’m scared! I’m scared!”

Worse?  Get this:

"The governor has rebuffed repeated interview requests and his spokesperson would not say what steps, if any, Edwards took in the immediate aftermath of Greene’s death. “The governor does not direct disciplinary or criminal investigations,” said spokesperson Christina Stephens, “nor would it be appropriate for him to do so.”

What a crock of shit.  Stonewalling.  No transparency.  Determined, continued failure to answer highly relevant questions, provide information the public is entitled to.  The Governor's constituents are indeed entitled to know exactly what he did or didn't do regarding this murder.  Precisely, why there is no public faith and trust in politicians and/or law enforcement.

"What the governor knew, when he knew it and what he did have become questions in a federal civil rights investigation of the deadly encounter and whether police brass obstructed justice to protect the troopers who arrested Greene. “The question is: When did he find out the truth?” said Sen. Cleo Fields, a Baton Rouge Democrat who is vice-chair of a legislative committee created last year to dig into complaints of excessive force by state police. The FBI has questioned people in recent months about Edwards’ awareness of various aspects of the case, according to law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the probe. Investigators have focused in part on an influential lawmaker saying the governor downplayed the need for a legislative inquiry. The governor’s spokesperson said he is not under investigation and neither is any member of his staff."

If not, clearly should be.

"Edwards kept quiet about the Greene case through his reelection campaign in 2019 and through a summer of protests in 2020 over racial injustice in the wake of George Floyd’s killing. Even after Greene’s family filed a wrongful-death lawsuit that brought attention to the case in late 2020, Edwards declined to characterize the actions of the troopers and refused calls to release their body-camera video, citing his concern for not interfering with the federal investigation. But when the AP obtained and published the long-withheld footage of the encounter that left Greene bloody, motionless and limp on a dark road near Monroe, Edwards finally spoke out. Edwards condemned the troopers, calling their actions “deeply unprofessional and incredibly disturbing.” “I am disappointed in them and in any officer who stood by and did not intervene,” the governor said in a statement. He later called the troopers’ actions “criminal.” But Edwards, a lawyer from a long family line of Louisiana sheriffs, also has made comments since the release of the video that downplay troopers’ actions, even reprising the narrative that Greene may have been killed by a car crash."

Any faith or trust in the Governor?  Should there be?  Get this:

“Did he die from injuries sustained in the accident?” Edwards said in response to a question on a radio show in September. “Obviously he didn’t die in the accident itself because he was still alive when the troopers were engaging with him. But what was the cause of death? I don’t know that that was falsely portrayed.” Weeks after those remarks, a reexamined autopsy commissioned by the FBI rejected the crash theory outright, attributing Greene’s death to “physical struggle,” troopers repeatedly stunning him, striking him in the head, restraining him at length and Greene’s use of cocaine. The federal investigators have taken interest in a conversation Edwards had last June with state Rep. Clay Schexnayder, the powerful Republican House speaker who was considering a legislative inquiry into the Greene case following the release of the video. Schexnayder said this week that the governor told him there was no need for further action from the legislature because “Greene died in a wreck.” The speaker said he never moved forward with the investigation to avoid interfering with the federal probe. The governor’s spokesperson acknowledged he briefed the legislative leadership on his “understanding of the Greene investigation” and said his remarks were consistent with his public statements. The U.S. Department of Justice declined to comment. “It’s time to find out what happened, who knew what and when, and if anyone has covered it up,” Schexnayder told the AP. “The Greene family deserves to know the truth.”

Why does it take years?  Why all the foot dragging?  Why is it tolerated?

"Edwards received word of the Greene case in a text from then-Louisiana State Police Superintendent Kevin Reeves on May 10, 2019 at 10 a.m., about nine hours after the deadly arrest. “Good morning. An FYI,” the message read. “Early this morning, troopers attempted to stop a vehicle in Ouachita Parish. The driver fled thru two parishes in excess of 110 mph, eventually crashing. Troopers attempted to place the driver under arrest. But, a violent, lengthy struggle took place. After some time struggling with the suspect, troopers were joined by a Union Parish deputy and were able to take the suspect into custody. ... The suspect remained combative but became unresponsive shortly before EMS arrived.” The explanation given to Edwards, which his spokesperson called a “standard notification,” was far different from what Greene’s family says it was being told by troopers at almost the same time -- that the 49-year-old died on impact in a car crash at the end of a chase. A coroner’s report that day indicates Greene was killed in a motor vehicle accident and a state police crash report makes no mention of troopers using force. Reeves ended his text by telling the governor that the man’s death was under investigation. “Thank you,” Edwards responded."

Equally, interesting?  Get this:

"Those words were among the few statements from Edwards himself released in response to an extensive public-records request the AP filed in June for materials relating to Greene’s death. The governor’s office has not released any messages from Edwards to his staff and has yet to fully respond to a separate December request for his texts with three top police officials. Hundreds of other emails and text messages released by the governor’s office show that while he has publicly distanced himself from the case and issues of state police violence, his staff has been more engaged behind the scenes, including his top lawyer repeatedly contacting state and federal prosecutors about the Greene case. Alexander Van Hook, who until December oversaw the civil rights investigation into Greene’s death as the acting U.S. attorney in Shreveport, said in November there has been no attempt by the governor to influence the investigation. “That wouldn’t go over very well with us if there had been,” Van Hook told AP."

Think that's true?

"Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican, said Edwards had a duty to at least follow up with the head of the state police after being informed of Greene’s death. “When something goes wrong ... he’s shocked,” Landry said, ”when behind the scenes he is intimately involved in trying to control the message and distort it from the public.” Meanwhile, state police recently acknowledged that the department “sanitized” the cellphone of Reeves, intentionally erasing messages after he abruptly retired in 2020 amid AP’s initial reporting on Greene’s death. The agency said it did the same to the phone of another former police commander, Mike Noel, who resigned from a regulatory post last year as he was set to be questioned about the case by lawmakers. Police said such erasures are policy."

Protection of the very top of the food chain?

"Edwards’ office said the governor first learned of the “allegations surrounding Mr. Greene’s death” in September 2020 — the same month in which a state senator sent Edwards’ lawyers a copy of the Greene family’s wrongful-death lawsuit that had been filed a few months earlier. No one has yet been charged with a crime in Greene’s death and only one of the troopers involved in his arrest has been fired. Master Trooper Chris Hollingsworth, who was recorded saying he “beat the ever-living f--- out of” Greene, died in a car crash in 2020 soon after learning he would lose his job. In early October 2020, after AP published audio of Hollingsworth’s comments, the governor reviewed video of Greene’s fatal arrest, his spokesperson said."

No credibility.  Compounded by the following:

"Some observers of Edwards’ response to the Greene case see it as partly political calculation. At the time of the deadly arrest, the centrist Democrat was in a tough re-election campaign in a deeply conservative state against a Republican backed by Donald Trump. His path to reelection depended on high Black turnout and crossover support from law enforcement. Greene’s death — and the footage that ultimately went viral — would have “politically threatened both voting groups simultaneously,” said Joshua Stockley, a political scientist at the University of Louisiana Monroe. But the first public indications that Greene had been abused did not emerge until months after Edwards eked out 51% of the vote over businessman Eddie Rispone. He won in large part due to massive turnout by Black voters in urban areas, taking 90% of the vote in Orleans Parish, the 60% Black parish that includes New Orleans. “I find it hard to believe that the release of this video during the election would not have had a profound consequence,” Stockley said. “It would have been enormous.”

The Associated Press reports:

"Louisiana’s top GOP lawmaker weighed taking legislative action Monday against Gov. John Bel Edwards for “gross misconduct and the highest level of deceit” in his response to the deadly 2019 arrest of Ronald Greene. House Speaker Rep. Clay Schexnayder’s comments followed an Associated Press report that showed the Democratic governor was informed within hours that troopers arresting Greene engaged in a “violent, lengthy struggle,” yet he stayed silent for two years as state police told a much different story to the victim’s family and in official reports: that Greene died from a crash after a high-speed chase. The revelations have united an unusual coalition of Black activists and Republican officials in demanding answers from the governor."

For damned good reason.  Moreover, about time the racist nazi element in the Republican Party finally did the right thing for the sake of principle and not raw, pure partisanship.  Hard to believe, however, anything has truly changed.  ... Right, House Speaker Rep. Schexnayder?

“This would demonstrate gross misconduct and the highest level of deceit on behalf of the governor and others,” Schexnayder said in a statement. “What happened to Ronald Greene is inexcusable and should never happen to anyone. His family and the citizens of the state deserve to know the truth.” Schexnayder, who said he met over the weekend with the state’s Republican senate president and attorney general, did not elaborate on the options he was considering but noted “we are fully prepared to use the authority granted to us in the constitution of this state.”

"The Republican lawmakers are considering action amid an ongoing federal civil rights investigation of the deadly encounter and whether police brass obstructed justice to protect the troopers who arrested Greene. Greene’s mother, Mona Hardin called on Edwards to resign, saying he chose political expedience over justice in a man’s death."

Certainly, appears to be the case.

“He needs to go,” Hardin told AP. “He was able to stand aside as all this unfolded and just remain mute. That’s shameful. ... I hate that I’ve been lied to.” Louisiana NAACP officials issued a statement calling the AP revelations “deeply disturbing.” “The NAACP finds this severely demonstrates a need for our governor to be fully transparent with our great state. We feel that our governor has seemingly missed the mark so far,” the statement said. “When did you learn the truth, governor?”

Bottom line here is simple.  A man was murdered by the jackbooted bastards in blue.  Yet, no justice.

No justice.

Too busy lining County coffers with bogus tickets?

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.  Forfeiture of liberty.  At the hands of outrageously corrupt and abusive government.

No longer.

Another execution by the jackbooted bastards in blue.  NBC News reports:

"Police released body camera video of a standoff on a Tennessee interstate that ended Thursday when nine officers fired their guns, killing a man accused of carrying a box cutter. The man, identified as Landon Eastep, 37, of Nashville, did not possess a gun, but took out a cylindrical object from a pocket, prompting officers from three agencies to shoot at him on Interstate 65, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department spokesperson Don Aaron said in a video introducing the body camera footage. Eastep was killed after he “took a stance as if he had a firearm,” Aaron said. NBC News does not know what preceded the released video, which was edited by police and showed body camera footage from two officers."

Anything edited by law enforcement has zero credibility.  Sadly, been too many lies.  Over too many years.

"Aaron said six officers with his department, two with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and an off-duty officer with Mount Juliet police fired their weapons. The off-duty officer stopped to assist a state trooper and attempted to de-escalate the situation with Eastep for about 30 minutes, according to the spokesperson. The incident began shortly before 2 p.m. when a state trooper saw Eastep sitting on a guardrail on the shoulder of the freeway. “The trooper reported that he stopped and approached Eastep with the intent to give him a ride off the interstate,” Aaron said. The trooper also said Eastep carried a box cutter, and Nashville police were called to assist, Aaron said. In the video, police identify the off-duty officer, without naming him, as the officer who mostly spoke directly to Eastep. The off-duty officer repeatedly pleaded with him that officers didn’t want to hurt him and urged him to drop the knife and put his hands up, video showed. The officer also told Eastep he would not be going to jail. “Whatever you’re worried about, we can fix it. Let’s get you some help, though,” the Mount Juliet officer says. “This is not the answer. You and I know it. You don’t want to hurt me. I know you don’t. I damn sure don’t want to hurt you.” Police released more than four minutes of interaction between the officers and Eastep from one officer's body camera. That footage was from Officer James Kidd's body camera, police said. Another vantage point shows video from Officer Sean Williams' body camera, police said. During moments in both videos, officers can be seen standing several feet away from Eastep with their guns drawn. At one point in footage from Kidd’s body camera, the Mount Juliet officer says he has a family and children to go home to and is not wearing a vest. “I want you to go home today. I don’t want you to end up dead on the side of the interstate. Nobody wants that,” the officer says. Shortly before officers fire at Eastep, he appears to move toward officers, then makes a quick movement with both arms, according to the footage. The Mount Juliet officer is heard saying, “Landon, please brother, don’t do it. Don’t do it. No, no, no.”

Abject bullshit.  To excuse and 'justify' the gutless 'shoot first, ask questions later' mentality embraced by the cowardly jackbooted bastards in law enforcement:

“Given his very abrupt movement, kind of aiming something toward the officers, the officers fired,” he said. They did so “in defense of themselves not knowing what potential threat could have been in that right hand as it quickly emerged out of the pocket,” Aaron said. No officers were injured during the incident. The Nashville officers were placed on routine administrative assignment, according to Aaron. The status of the other officers was unclear Friday. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating along with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office. Nashville police are also investigating, Aaron said"

Legalized murder.  Rationalization of the irrational.  Protected by the fox guarding the chicken coop.  Nazi America.  De facto fascist police-state, democratic republic in name only.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

CBS News reports:

"Five members of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department were placed on administrative assignment and a sixth has been decommissioned after the fatal Tuesday shooting of a man on the side of a highway, Police Chief John Drake announced Friday. Drake said nine law enforcement officials, including a sergeant, fired at 37-year-old Landon Eastep. Officer Brian Murphy, a 25-year veteran of the department, lost his police authority pending a review of the shooting. According to Drake, he fired the last two shots at Eastep. The five others placed on routine administrative assignment were identified by Drake as Officer Justin Pinkelton, a 25-year veteran; Officer Sean Williams, a 17-year veteran; Officer Edin Plancic, a 6-year veteran; Officer James Kidd, who joined the department last February; and Sergeant Steven Carrick, an 8-year veteran. Two Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers and a Mt. Juliet officer also fired their weapons, Drake said. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the shooting, Drake said. "This department regularly reviews critical incidents, and the work on this one has begun. I am saddened by any loss of life, and I send my condolences to the Eastep family."

What went down:

"Nashville police officers responded Thursday to a "Code 5000" — which means personnel in serious danger — after Eastep allegedly pulled a boxcutter on a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper on the side of an interstate, Drake said. Before the Nashville officers arrived, an off-duty officer from Mt. Juliet stopped to help the trooper and attempted to talk to Eastep. A video released by the department said the Mt. Juliet officer attempted to speak with Eastep for approximately 30 minutes. At the time, Eastep was holding the box cutter in his left hand and had his right hand in his pocket, the video said. After the Nashville officers arrived, nine law enforcement personnel in total were engaging with Eastep when he drew an object from his pocket and "took a stance as if it was a firearm," Drake said. Body camera footage included in the video appeared to show Eastep pull his hand out of his pocket and point it at an officer in the moments before the shooting. Officers fired at Eastep, killing him. The object was later determined to be a metal cylindrical object, Drake said. None of the officers were injured in the incident."

In follow-up to a case covered repeatedly here and elsewhere, The Associated Press reports:

"Federal prosecutors have proposed a plea agreement that would avert a hate crimes trial for the son and father convicted of murdering Ahmaud Arbery. His parents denounced the deal on Monday, and the judge proceeded with plans to summon potential jurors next week. Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, will ask the judge when the pretrial hearing resumes Monday afternoon to reject the deal, her lawyer, Lee Merritt, told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Brunswick. The slain man’s father, Marcus Arbery, told reporters he’s “mad as hell” over the deal, which Merritt said could enable Travis and Greg McMichael to spend the first 30 years of their life sentences in federal prison, rather than state prison where conditions are tougher. “Ahmaud is a kid you cannot replace,” Arbery said. “He was killed racially and we want 100% justice, not no half justice.” Cooper-Jones described the U.S. Justice Department’s decision to propose the plea deal despite her objections as “disrespectful.” “I fought so hard to get these guys in the state prison,” she said. “I told them very, very adamantly that I wanted them to go to state prison and do their time. ... Then I got up this morning and found out they had accepted this ridiculous plea.” U.S. District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood continued preparations to summon summoning the first 50 potential jurors to the courthouse on Monday, Feb. 7, for questioning. The proposed plea agreements were filed with the court late Sunday. There was no mention of a deal with their co-defendant, William “Roddie” Bryan. No details were disclosed in court Monday morning. Federal prosecutors didn’t mention the deals in the court’s morning session."

NBC News reports:

"A federal judge on Monday rejected a deal between federal prosecutors and at least one of the men who killed Ahmaud Arbery after the victim's family objected to the plea bargain. Prosecutors in the federal hate crime case filed papers over the weekend striking deals with Travis and Gregory McMichael, whose prison sentences would run concurrently. But Arbery's family balked at the deals, particularly an agreement allowing the men to serve their hate crime convictions first in a federal penitentiary. After hearing the victim's parents speak against the deal, U.S. District Court Judge Lisa Wood said she doesn't have enough information to approve it on Monday and has no choice but to reject it. "It is my decision to reject the plea agreement," she said after being presented with the plea bargain of Travis McMichael. "In this case, it is appropriate to hear at sentencing from all concerned including the victim's family." The Sunday filings name father Gregory McMichael and son Travis McMichael. The third convicted murderer in the case, neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, was not mentioned."

The Associated Press reports:

"A federal judge rejected a plea agreement Monday that would have averted a hate crimes trial for the white man convicted of murder for fatally shooting Ahmaud Arbery, whose parents angrily objected to the deal as unfair and unjust. The decision by U.S. District Court Judge Lisa Godbey Wood came just hours after prosecutors gave notice that son and father Travis and Greg McMichael had agreed to plead guilty to hate crime charges that they chased, threatened and killed 25-year-old Arbery because he was Black. But Travis McMichael’s sentencing hearing Monday afternoon turned emotional and contentious as federal prosecutors urged the judge to approve the deal even after Arbery’s parents pleaded passionately for her to deny it. Travis McMichael would have received 30 years in federal prison to be served alongside the penalty of life in prison without parole imposed by a state court judge for the murder conviction. By pleading guilty, he would have given up the chance to appeal his federal sentence. But Arbery’s family objected to a provision that sought to transfer Travis McMichael immediately to federal custody from state prison. Arbery’s parents argued that conditions in federal prison wouldn’t be as tough for the McMichaels. Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, said she felt strongly that Travis McMichael should serve his entire sentence in a Georgia state prison. “Please listen to me,” Cooper-Jones told the judge. “Granting these men their preferred choice of confinement would defeat me. It gives them one last chance to spit in my face.” Wood said she was rejecting the deal because its terms would have locked her into a specific sentence. She said the Arbery family should have a say at sentencing in whatever punishment is ultimately given. Now the question is whether Travis McMichael will withdraw the guilty plea he entered Monday, and whether Greg McMichael, who had been offered the same deal the judge denied, will still plead guilty as planned. The judge gave them both until Friday to return to the federal courthouse in Brunswick and give their answer."

Get this:

"Travis McMichael told the judge in a loud, clear voice Monday that he was willing to plead guilty to killing Arbery out of racial animosity. Prosecutor Tara Lyons asked the judge to set aside the Arbery family’s misgivings about the deal, saying Travis McMichael’s admission would send a powerful message. “He is pleading guilty to a federal hate crime and publicly confessing to the world that this crime would not have happened had Ahmaud Arbery not been Black,” Lyons said. Lyons said she understood the Arbery family’s anger and distrust of the criminal justice system. But federal prosecutors said they had consulted with attorneys for Arbery’s parents before signing off on any deals. “The Justice Department entered the plea agreement only after the victims’ attorneys informed me that the family was not opposed to it,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said in a statement. Lee Merritt, an attorney for Arbery’s mother, said that was misleading. He told reporters outside the courthouse that the family had previously rejected an identical plea deal proposed by prosecutors. “The family no longer wanted to engage them concerning that point,” Merritt said. “They had had their answer. They (federal prosecutors) took that as a deferral.” No notices have been filed in court of a plea deal for Bryan. For now, he appears to be headed to trial next week — with or without the McMichaels, depending on whether they choose to follow through with their guilty pleas. Wood continued preparations for trial proceedings, saying she planned to summon the first 50 potential jurors to the courthouse on Feb. 7 for questioning on whether they can serve as fair, unbiased jurors in such a highly publicized case."

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk?  Get what you truly deserve.  Forfeiture of liberty.  At the hands of outrageously corrupt and abusive government.

No longer.

Consider the following.  Think it acceptable?  CBS News reports:

"A Connecticut police officer being investigated for their actions following the death of Lauren Smith-Fields has been suspended and placed on administrative leave, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim announced Sunday. The family of Smith-Fields, a 23-year old Black woman, claims they were not notified by police after she was found dead in December. Another officer being investigated for a similar reason was also placed on leave, Ganim announced. "I want you to know that I am extremely disappointed with the leadership of the Bridgeport Police Department and find actions taken up to this point unacceptable," Ganim said in a statement. "After reviewing the matters even more closely and in the absence of the Police Chief, I have directed Deputy Chief Baraja to immediately put on administrative leave the two officers who are the subject of a Bridgeport Police Office of Internal Affairs (OIA) Investigation and disciplinary action for lack of sensitivity to the public and failure to follow police policy in the handling of these two matters." Ganim last week announced an internal investigation into the police department's interactions with Smith-Fields' family following her death."

Here's what went down:

"In December, Smith-Fields was found dead at her home following a date with a White man whom she met on the dating app Bumble. Smith-Fields' mother, Shantell Fields, told CBS News that she drove to her daughter's home after she was unable to get in touch with her. "When I got there, there was a note on the door saying, 'If you're looking for Lauren, call this number,'" she said. The family said that a detective told them Smith-Fields had been found dead about a day and half earlier, but nobody reached out to them. Smith-Fields' brother, Tavar Gray-Smith, told "CBS Mornings" that the detective told them, "We didn't need to reach out to any family member — we had her passport and her ID, so we knew who she was, and had already performed an autopsy, and her body is at the medical examiner's office." Gray-Smith also said that the detective hung up on his and Smith-Fields' father. The family has called the police department's response "racially insensitive."

Called fascist, racist Aryan arrogance displayed by the jackbooted bastards in blue.  Nazi America.  De facto fascist police-state, democratic republic in name only.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

"The Bridgeport Police Department has high standards for officer sensitivity especially in matters involving the death of a family member," Ganim said Sunday. "It is an unacceptable failure if policies were not followed. To the families, friends and all who care about the human decency that should be shown in these situations, in this case by members of the Bridgeport Police Department, I am very sorry." An attorney for Smith-Fields' family told CBS News in a statement that placing the detective on leave is a "step in the right direction." Ganim also announced that the officer who was "in charge of overseeing these matters" resigned Friday. The other officer who was suspended is accused of not informing the family of Brenda Rawls, a 53-year-old Black woman, of her death. Rawls was found dead the same day as Smith-Fields, according to NBC News. "Nobody ever notified us that she died," Rawls' sister told NBC News. "We had to do our own investigation and find out where she was." Ganim on Sunday said both women's deaths are being investigated and have been reassigned to different members of the Bridgeport Police Department."

Small comfort.  Hard to believe the problem isn't department-wide.  Hopefully, it's not.

"Last week, the medical examiner's office said Smith-Fields died of "acute intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl, promethazine, hydroxyzine, and alcohol," and ruled her death an accident."

NPR reports:

"Mayor Joe Ganim of Bridgeport, Conn., has suspended two police officers involved in investigating the deaths of two Black women, after weeks of increasing scrutiny over the department's handling of the cases. Ganim said in a statement shared with NPR on Sunday that he was "extremely disappointed" with the leadership of the Bridgeport Police Department and called "actions taken up to this point unacceptable." After further review, he said he had directed the department to put detectives Angel Llanos and Kevin Cronin on administrative leave. Both detectives are the subject of an internal investigation and possible disciplinary action for "lack of sensitivity to the public and failure to follow police policy," Ganim said, and will remain on leave until those reviews have been completed. In addition, an unidentified supervisory officer who was "in charge of overseeing these matters" retired from the department on Friday, he said. Both officers were involved in investigations into the deaths of Lauren Smith-Fields and Brenda Lee Rawls, Black women who were both found dead on Dec. 12 and whose families have for weeks accused police of not taking their cases seriously.

"The department has faced mounting criticism for its handling of the investigation into the death of Smith-Fields, a 23-year-old college student who was found dead in her apartment after spending the night with a man she had met on a dating app. Smith-Fields' family says they learned of her death not from police, but from a note her landlord left on her apartment door when they came by after she didn't return their calls. They also accuse the police of failing to process potentially key pieces of evidence — like bloody sheets, a used condom and a pill — on the scene, refusing to interview her date (who called for help after he says he found her unresponsive in bed) and being similarly dismissive in subsequent phone calls from her concerned loved ones. The family's attorney, Darnell Crosland, has said they intend to sue the city over the police department's "racially insensitive" handling of the case. Their calls for justice have picked up steam in recent weeks, aided by social media users, rapper Cardi B and an in-person rally on what would have been Smith-Fields' 24th birthday earlier this month. After the medical examiner's office ruled Smith-Fields' death an accidental overdose of "Fentanyl combined with prescription medication and alcohol" last week, Bridgeport police said they had opened a criminal investigation into "the factors that led to her untimely death." In his statement, Ganim thanked Crosland, the victims' families and the thousands of other people who had asked questions that "still need answers." "I as mayor, but also as a father, cannot fully comprehend what you must be going through," he said. "I can only pledge my continued support to try to ease your pain by getting answers and holding those responsible accountable."

Get this:

"Rawls' family is also alleging that Bridgeport police have not adequately investigated her death, though her story has been slower to make headlines. Dorothy Rawls Washington told NBC News that her 53-year-old sister, Brenda, told family members that she planned to go to the home of a male acquaintance who lived down the street on Dec. 11. They weren't able to reach her for the next two days. She said that when two of her sisters, her niece and her niece's boyfriend showed up at the man's house on Dec. 14, he told them that he was unable to wake Rawls up and that she had died. "He gave me the clothing that she had on and her shoes," Angela Rawls Martin, another sister, told NBC. "I don't understand why that was left behind." Rawls' family said they had to conduct their own investigation to figure out where she was, trying police, hospitals and funeral homes before getting their answer from the state's medical examiner. "They never took any opportunity to look for next of kin," Washington said. "The next time we saw our sister, she was in a funeral home."

Outrageous.

"Rawls' family — like that of Smith-Fields — is accusing police not only of failing to notify them of their loved ones' death, but also of mishandling the subsequent investigation into its cause. Martin said that when she asked a police sergeant whether officers had searched her sister's apartment or the man's residence, he told her it was not in the police report. She told NBC News that same sergeant also apologized and told her that police had "dropped the ball." Washington also said that police department gave them the name of a detective to contact, but that she never heard from him even after calling him four or five times. "It's almost like they're not aware of her death, or they just don't care and that made us angry," Washington told CNN, referring to city and police officials. "She was raised and born in Bridgeport, Conn., paid her taxes, voted and they treated like she was nothing. Like she was roadkill."

Appalling.

"In a statement to NPR, a city official said Ganim conducted a review of how death notices were handled for both Rawls and Smith-Fields "and found that in both cases officers did not follow the proper policy." "As a death notification is not just a procedure, but a matter of humanity, he found that NOT following the policy was also insensitive to the deceased and their families," the statement read. Ganim has previously said that he will work with police leadership to make immediate changes to the department's policies around notifying family members of a death. "I want to be clear to members of the public and the department that insensitivity, disrespect in action, or deviation from policy will not be tolerated by me or others in this administration," he said on Sunday. "My disappointment and demand for accountability in these and any other matter brought to my attention will remain until all the questions are answered to the satisfaction of all."

Kangaroo justice.  U.S. Supreme Court.  The Washington Post reports:

"Ginni Thomas’s name stood out among the signatories of a December letter from conservative leaders, which blasted the work of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection as “overtly partisan political persecution.” One month later, her husband, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas took part in a case crucial to the same committee’s work: former president Donald Trump’s request to block the committee from getting White House records that were ordered released by President Biden and two lower courts. Thomas was the only justice to say he would grant Trump’s request. That vote has reignited fury among Justice Thomas’s critics, who say it illustrates a gaping hole in the court’s rules: Justices essentially decide for themselves whether they have a conflict of interest, and Thomas has rarely made such a choice in his three decades on the court. “I absolutely do believe that Clarence Thomas should have recused from the Jan. 6 case,” said Gabe Roth, executive director of Fix the Court, a nonpartisan advocacy group, who called the Supreme Court “the most powerful, least accountable, institution in Washington.” While the Supreme Court is supposed to operate under regulations guiding all federal judges, including a requirement that a justice “shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned,” there’s no procedure to enforce that rule. Each justice can decide whether to recuse, and there is no way to appeal a Supreme Court member’s failure to do so.

"Ginni Thomas has long been one of the nation’s most outspoken conservatives. During her husband’s time on the Supreme Court, she has run organizations designed to activate right-wing networks, worked for Republicans in Congress, harshly criticized Democrats who she said were trying to make the country “ungovernable,” and handed out awards to those who agree with her agenda. Ginni Thomas also worked closely with the Trump administration and met with the president, and has come under fire over messages praising Jan. 6 crowds before the attack on the Capitol. In a number of instances, her activism has overlapped with cases that have been decided by Clarence Thomas. Thomas’s vote in the Jan. 6 case is such a striking conflict of interest, critics say, that some hope it sparks further support for long-sputtering efforts to toughen rules governing the justices — an effort bolstered by a White House commission last month that noted the inherent problem with court’s recusals. “It doesn’t get more partisan than sending a letter to the Republican caucus” criticizing the Jan. 6 committee, said Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), author of several bills that would require an independent review to determine when Supreme Court justices should recuse. He said in an interview that Clarence Thomas’s conflicts with his wife’s work make him “the poster child” for passing the ethics legislation."

Walls clearly closing in on the Trump nazi, his family, and other henchmen.  The Associated Press reports:

"The prosecutor who’s investigating whether Donald Trump and others broke the law by trying to pressure Georgia officials to overturn Joe Biden’s presidential election victory is asking the FBI for security help after the former president railed against prosecutors investigating him. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Sunday wrote a letter to the FBI office in Atlanta asking for a risk assessment of the county courthouse, where her office is located, and government center. She also asked the FBI to provide protective resources, “to include intelligence and federal agents.” At his rally Saturday night outside Houston, Trump lashed out against the ongoing investigations in New York, Georgia and Washington and called on his supporters to stage mass protests if he is mistreated by them. In her letter, Willis quoted comments Trump made at the rally. “If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington, D.C., in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere, because our country and our elections are corrupt,” Trump said. The comments were particularly notable given Trump’s role in inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol building. Trump also suggested he might pardon those charged for their role in the riot if he runs for president again and wins reelection."

Outrageous, isn't it?  Why has Trump yet to be indicted for treasonously inciting the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection?

Readers will recall:

"Willis last year opened an investigation into any potential attempts to improperly influence the 2020 general election in Georgia by Trump and his associates. A special grand jury is set to be seated May 2 to aid in that investigation and Willis asked the FBI to take the steps she requested well in advance of that date. “My staff and I will not be influenced or intimidated by anyone as this investigation moves forward,” Willis wrote. She added that her office has already taken steps to address security concerns “considering the communications we have received from persons unhappy with our commitment to fulfill our duties.” She said she’s also working with county officials on the need for extra security measures as the investigation progresses. But she said security concerns were “escalated” over the weekend as Trump focused on the prosecutors looking into his actions, calling them “vicious, horrible people” and “racists.” The rhetoric is especially alarming, Willis wrote, in light of Trump’s suggestion that if he returns to the White House, he could give pardons to people who stormed the U.S. Capitol last year in an effort to block the certification of Biden’s win. “We must work together to keep the public safe and ensure that we do not have a tragedy in Atlanta similar to what happened at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” Willis wrote in the letter to the FBI. Jenna Sellitto, a spokesperson for the FBI in Atlanta, confirmed receipt of the letter but declined to comment further."

Fascinating, isn't it?

"In his pushback against the various investigations centered on him, Trump has taken particular aim at New York Attorney General Letitia James, who recently said her office has uncovered evidence that Trump’s company used “fraudulent or misleading” valuations of his properties to secure loans and tax benefits. That includes playing a video at a previous rally that features footage of her vowing to take on Trump as she ran for election. Trump did not mention James, Willis, or any of the others by name Saturday. Willis has declined to speak about the specifics of her investigation, but in a recent interview with The Associated Press, she confirmed that its scope includes — but is not limited to — a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a November 2020 phone call between U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and Raffensperger, the abrupt resignation of the U.S. attorney in Atlanta on Jan. 4, 2021, and comments made during December 2020 Georgia legislative committee hearings on the election. In a statement earlier this month, Trump said his call to Raffensperger was “perfect” and said he did not say anything wrong. Graham has also denied any wrongdoing."

Believe it?

NBC News reports:

"Some Trump White House documents preserved by the National Archives were ripped up by the former president and had to be taped back together by government officials, the records agency said Tuesday. "Some of the Trump presidential records received by the National Archives and Records Administration included paper records that had been torn up by former President Trump,” the agency said in a statement to NBC News. "As has been reported in the press since 2018, White House records management officials during the Trump administration recovered and taped together some of the torn-up records," a reference to reports that Trump habitually ripped up documents and threw them away after reading them. “These were turned over to the National Archives at the end of the Trump administration, along with a number of torn-up records that had not been reconstructed by the White House,” the agency said."

Readers will recall:

"The National Archives recently turned over hundreds of pages of Trump White House documents to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. The records were handed over after a months-long court battle that culminated with the Supreme Court deciding last month to reject Trump’s efforts to block their release."

Interestingly:

"The National Archives did not make clear in its statement Tuesday whether some of the documents the committee received included the torn up and re-taped records. The Jan. 6 committee did not immediately return a request for comment. The President Records Act requires that all presidential records be turned over to the National Archives at the end of their administrations, the agency's statement noted. Politico reported in 2018 that White House officials had to use clear Scotch tape to reconstruct large piles of shredded paper from former President Donald Trump as if it were a “jigsaw puzzle.”

In an editorial, NPR opines:

"With former President Donald Trump off mainstream social media, his messages aren't as ubiquitous. It makes it harder for them to break through. But in recent rallies and statements, Trump has seemed to escalate a message rooted in racism and lies. Trump alleged during a rally in Texas over the weekend that Black prosecutors investigating him are "racist," and he is again flirting with mob violence, calling for mass protests if they do anything he deems to be "wrong or illegal." And after teasing a 2024 run — "to take back that beautiful, beautiful house that happens to be white" — he said one of his actions as president could be to pardon those convicted as a result of their actions during last year's insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. More than 750 people and counting have been charged with crimes. "If I run and I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly," Trump said. "We will treat them fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly." Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called Trump's comments "inappropriate." But Graham criticized Trump after the Capitol attack itself, only to wrap his arms around him again."

No honor, Lindsey?  No principles, sir?  Just nazi partisanship, Senator?

"Tempered GOP criticism isn't something that has cowed Trump, and neither has the violence that's taken place in his name. Instead, Trump is pouring gasoline on a fire of white grievance."

Called racist fascism. Nazi America.  De facto fascist police-state, democratic republic in name only.  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

Blame the gutless idiot in the Texas governor's mansion.  United Press International reports:

"In October, amid a historic surge of Texas National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, one soldier's leader told him "not to worry" about getting sent there. He could sit this one out. The part-time senior noncommissioned officer said he still feared an unanticipated call-up -- he owns a small business, and he has a son with a disability. Usually, long-term Guard deployments come from the federal government, with nearly a year's notice -- the NCO had several months to settle his affairs before two previous deployments. But Operation Lone Star is different. Faced with a humanitarian crisis along the Rio Grande, pressured by conservative rivals and chided by right-wing cable pundits, Gov. Greg Abbott decided last fall to move thousands of troops to the border as quickly as possible. And the Texas Military Department, which oversees the state's National and State Guard branches, did all it could to comply -- with haste.

"A few days after being told he'd likely sit the deployment out, the NCO was ordered to report within 72 hours, he said. If he didn't, his commanders told him, the state would issue an arrest warrant. "I had to cancel $60,000 worth of business contracts," the NCO, who requested anonymity because he feared retaliation from Guard leaders, said in a text to Army Times and The Texas Tribune. His employees all quit. After "three weeks of sitting on my ass with zero task or purpose," he was sent home. But it may be too late to save his business. He says he still hasn't found a new project and had to sell his company's van to pay his mortgage, car payments and business loans. "I didn't want to get out of bed for a week," the soldier said. "I was unemployed ... and [I] felt exactly as if [the Texas Military Department] put me there because of their ... lack of planning and leadership." His story is just one of many hardships service members say have resulted from Abbott's unprecedented border security push, called Operation Lone Star.

"During a two-month period beginning in September, Operation Lone Star ballooned from a lean 1,000-volunteer outfit to a mandatory mobilization of up to 10,000 members of the Texas Military Department. According to a senior Guard leader's leaked comments during a virtual town hall for unit leaders, they're expecting the current wave of troops to be there for a year, and they're preparing for yet another wave of deployments."

What took so long?  The Associated Press reports:

"The United States and Russia squared off Monday in the U.N. Security Council, where Moscow lost an attempt to block a public meeting on Moscow’s troop buildup near Ukraine’s borders and Western fears of an invasion. U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield dismissed a charge by Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia that Washington was trying “to whip up hysterics” and use “megaphone diplomacy” by calling the first Security Council meeting on the crisis. “Imagine how uncomfortable you would be if you had 100,000 troops on your border,” Thomas-Greenfield said. The vote on holding an open meeting passed 10-2, with Russia and China opposed, and three abstentions. The vote needed nine votes to be approved. U.N. Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo then went ahead with an open briefing, to be followed by speeches from the 15 council members. U.S. President Joe Biden said in a statement that the meeting was “a critical step in rallying the world to speak out in one voice” to reject the use of force, seek military de-escalation, support diplomacy and demand accountability from every member “to refrain from military aggression against its neighbors.”

What took so long, Joe?  Why hasn't your criticism of Putin been far more pointed to date?

"The session kicked off more high-level diplomacy this week, although talks between the U.S. and Russia have so far failed to ease tensions in the crisis. Russia has massed the estimated 100,000 troops near the borders of its southern neighbor, stoking fears in the West of an invasion. Russia denies it intends to launch an attack but demanded that NATO promise never to allow Ukraine to join the alliance, halt the deployment of NATO weapons near Russian borders, and roll back its forces from Eastern Europe. NATO and the U.S. call those demands impossible. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken didn’t make any visible progress in easing the tensions at their meeting in Geneva earlier this month. They are expected to speak by phone Tuesday, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Biden warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a phone call Thursday that there is a “distinct possibility” Russia could begin an incursion in February, but the Ukrainian leader sought to play down the war fears, saying Western alarm over an imminent invasion has prompted many investors in the country’s financial markets to cash out."

Jesus Christ.  Would indeed be laughable if the threat of invasion was not imminent.  Amazing how financial concerns apparently trump liberty.

"Zelenskyy said Friday that “we aren’t seeing any escalation bigger than before,” and charged that the Russian buildup could be an attempt by Moscow to exert “psychological pressure” and sow panic."

So Putin doesn't have to follow through with an invasion, that is, you'll give him what he wants without a fight?  LOL.

Joke aside, cave into a dictator?  The bastard interprets it as appeasement.  Sadly, guaranties more of the same.

Truth hurts.  Yet, the Israeli aggressor has yet to smarten up.  NPR reports:

"The state of Israel's treatment of Palestinians is a crime against humanity and is illegal under international law, Amnesty International said on Tuesday. The rights group says Israel's "oppression and domination" of Palestinians amounts to apartheid. "The Israeli government is committing the crime against humanity of apartheid against Palestinians and must be held accountable," the organization said as it released its nearly 280-page report. Amnesty said Israel has embraced laws and practices that "are intended to maintain a cruel system of control over Palestinians, have left them fragmented geographically and politically, frequently impoverished, and in a constant state of fear and insecurity." Amnesty is the latest rights advocate to accuse Israel of operating an apartheid system, joining former President Jimmy Carter, Human Rights Watch and the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem. Israel said it rejects Amnesty's findings. Even before the report was officially issued, the Israeli foreign ministry urged the group to withdraw it, and called it "false, biased, and antisemitic." Foreign Minister Yair Lapid added, "Amnesty quotes lies spread by terrorist organizations."

Sadly, it is the Israeli aggressor that remains a liar.  Refuses to accept the truth.

"Israel's embassy in the U.K., where Amnesty is based, said the group's apartheid declaration is a "shameful misrepresentation of Israel's diverse and dynamic society."

Not if you happen to be a Palestinian.  In fact, the problem dates back to 1948.  Read on:

"In contrast, the report states that Israel's treatment of Palestinians amounts to apartheid in part because "all territories controlled by Israel continue to be administered with the purpose of benefiting Jewish Israelis to the detriment of Palestinians, while Palestinian refugees continue to be excluded." Amnesty's report comes less than three years after then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is "the national state, not of all its citizens, but only of the Jewish people." In Israel, the debate over whether the country imposes apartheid on Palestinians took on a new tone in 2020, when as NPR's Daniel Estrin reported, Netanyahu "vowed to annex some of the West Bank into Israel without giving Palestinians there voting rights in Israel." Palestinian Arab citizens make up about a fifth of Israel's population and have Israeli voting rights. But Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip do not have Israeli voting rights. Even within Israel, the report states, Israel has dispossessed Palestinians of their land and property and imposed segregation and discriminatory policies. Language in the Amnesty report echoes sections of the International Criminal Court's founding treaty, which took effect in 2002. Here's how it defines apartheid:  "'The crime of apartheid' means inhumane acts ... committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime." The "inhumane acts" referred to in that clause include crimes Israel has been repeatedly accused of, such as the deportation or forcible transfer of a population and the persecution of an "identifiable group or collectivity" on the grounds of their political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural, religious or gender identity."

The problem, sadly, dates back to 1948 and the creation of the Israeli state:

"While many of the most recent accusations against Israel stem from its annexations of land in the West Bank, the Amnesty report says the problems it sees stem from Israel's creation. "In the course of establishing Israel as a Jewish state in 1948, Israel expelled hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages, in what amounted to ethnic cleansing," the report said. In response to Amnesty, Israel's embassy to the U.S. retweeted and amplified an editorial in The Wall Street Journal criticizing the findings, highlighting a line that states, "the report all but ignores that Israel is a democracy that accords more rights to Arabs and Palestinians than does any other state in the region."

While, indeed, figuratively f--king them hard in the ass without the Vaseline.

The effort to expose Wells Fargo egregious deceptive trade practices continues.  Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Copies of which were also passed on to both offending Wells Fargo officers. A copy was also sent to the Davis campaign and others at the time.

Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail.  Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion.  That has yet to be determined.

The bastard and his office, no matter what, failed to respond to the complaint originally snail mailed several years ago.  This material, figuratively targeting Wells Fargo and the governor 'wannabe' now Governor, had been posted and can be found by scrolling all the way down and clicking on the links well below.  ... Governor? Wells Fargo bribe you to look the other way?

Will continue to do all I can to publicly expose this to all, both in this publication and elsewhere.  Have done precisely that with the following email sent to Matt Turner, Matt Turner Video Services, Marble Falls, TX.  A copy of it was also sent to Wells Fargo officer Amanda Wright.  She has, indeed, been promoted  branch manager. Reverse Darwinism.  Survival of the unfittest.

This young woman has indeed been rewarded by the Wells Fargo corporate management suite for engaging in criminal deceptive trade practices and her undying loyalty to her corporate masters. The process to update those already informed of this fiasco has finally been completed. This latest material can be found by clicking onWells Fargo Deceptive Trade Practices Salvo 240, 2-8-19.

The name of this publication was changed some fifteen years ago from The Llano Ledger to Liberty In Peril.  The reason?  Simple.  Cowardly failure of this community to stand up to tyranny that has only exponentially worsened the last decade and a half.  Clearly, demonstrated as well by the cowardly failure of businesses to financially support this publication.  Either through advertising or other financial support.  Too afraid doing so would enrage the bastards who run and own this hellhole County.

-- Despite the fact these businesses were, and are, being egregiously f--ked by these very same bastards. Tough, isn't it?  Impossible to entertain any sympathy for cowardice, however.  Especially in view of the fact this writer has placed himself in great jeopardy taking on these corrupt, abusive, inept criminal bastards. Alone.

Exactly, why you see no investigative material highly critical of these sons of bitches in other local rags.  Sadly, cowardly, all advertising income immediately dries up.  Consequently, the bastards continue their criminal chicanery with impunity.  On a rampage.  Thus, you get what you truly deserve.  Always.  Precisely, why this earlier name change to Liberty In Peril remains appropriate.  -- Despite the fact this writer has not yet left the area.  Ten years after originally intending to do so.  Thirty years in this goddamned godforsaken hellhole.

This writer, then and now, remains primarily interested in state, federal, and international issues.  Another reason for this publication name change.  Despite the fact I stupidly cluelessly remain here, local issues must be addressed.  Can't be ignored.  That's where you come in dear readers.  Have the courage to inform this writer of local abuse, corruption, ineptness you are aware of, have personally experienced.

... Information these criminal bastards do all they can to conceal, cover up.  Otherwise, how can they effectively sustain the charade and intended result? Loot confiscation through a boot heel on the throat of the citizenry.

The only way, short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, to force badly-needed change is to expose all this to the light of day.  These bastards are beginning to understand they have a problem.  No question, the growing rage of those they've abused, looted, egregiously f--ked.  It's time to stand up.  Expose this corruption to glaring sunlight.  Otherwise, as fools, cowards, you will remain under their thumb.  From the loftiest business owner to those on the bottom of the food chain.  Wake up.  Grow a pair.

Still don't think that likely to happen.  After all, you're bought and paid for.  Owned. Not only by your government masters, but their masters.  The corporate management suite.  Your employers.  Think not? Wake up.   You're human chattel.  Corporate-owned, bought and paid for.  Precisely, why you cowardly, compliantly, literally bare your asses for corporate inspection by the company doctor.  Willingly, compliantly, cowardly piss in a cup under employer supervision.  To sit in front of a keyboard or stock shelves all day.  You have no control of your lives.  You're owned.  Forget?  For a measly salary, no job security, reduced to no benefits.  At a time of record corporate profits and cash reserves.

Then, you gallingly complain about the oppression as you tolerate egregious theft of your labor. Not only by your corporate masters, but their bought and paid for government lackeys.  Too cowardly to stand up, allow disclosure of your identity when you rightfully complain to this publication of being mercilessly f--ked. Some of you falsely arrested, criminally assaulted, bogusly fined for 'offenses' you did not commit.  To line County coffers.  Keep the peasants in line and under control.  A fascist police-state. Nazi America.

Again, yet another reason why this publication is called Liberty In Peril.  Most galling? Nothing changes if you fail to step up and challenge corrupt, abusive, inept authority.  Too afraid, cowardly compliant to let the bastards know who you are.  Did it ever occur to the cowards out there if the identity of the accuser is kept under wraps the bastards will falsely claim it's all made up by this publication?  Thus, conveniently killing all credibility. Wake up.

Cowardice is unbecoming, unworthy of our formerly great country.  Insult to injury?  There are the hopelessly deranged who believe the chicanery reported here to be manufactured anyway.  No matter the effort.  No matter the research.  No matter the proof.  Wake up.  This writer cannot do it alone.  Snowball's chance in hell.  Then again, cowardice, delusion is always amply, justly rewarded.  Always. You continue to 'enjoy' the very best government money can buy.  Literally.
