*************January 15, 2001*************
Recently, a reliable source asserted Precinct 2
Justice of the Peace Lanny "The Cop" Stephenson is
about to retire at the end of January. The story was
confirmed January 9 by Llano County Deputy Duane
Nobles. Nobles is one of six individuals being
considered by County "Judge" J.P. Dodgen and his
cronies on the Commissioners' Court as a replacement.
Interesting, isn't it?
Readers will recall dear Ole' Lanny has two years left
on her term of office. Why is she leaving? Good
question. ... Claims to want to be with her daughter,
-- who is also a Justice of the Peace elsewhere.
The explanation doesn't wash, however. More likely,
she's finally stepped on one toe too many. After all,
why not finally get rid of this egregious
embarrassment and poor excuse for a "jurist", -- when
you can best do it to your advantage and that of the
"Boys", right, J.P.?
Readers should understand a conveniently appointed
incumbent with two years of experience will be much
harder to beat on election day, -- and considerably
easier to control, right, "Judge"?
As repeatedly asserted, Ole' Lanny has been the cash
cow of the County for years. Why would Ole' J.P. and
the "Boys" on the Commissioners' Court willingly give
up control of this lucrative Golden Goose?
As mentioned earlier, Llano County Deputy Duane Nobles
is one of six people being considered. Interesting,
isn't it? Nobles has been repeatedly skewered in this
publication for his performance on the job. Now, he
may very well be appointed Justice of the Peace.
Nothing quite like reverse Darwinism, is there?
Interestingly, it has finally become clear why Mr.
Nobles has been quite friendly over the last few
months to this writer. As previously asserted, a
considerable amount of information has been sat on at
the request of victims fearing reprisal. Sadly,
corruption of the legal system is the result of
cowardice.
Hey, J.P.? Although not yet confirmed, scuttlebutt has
it asbestos has been found during renovation of the
Courthouse. Any truth to it, sir? ... Care to confirm
or deny? Sadly, you're being looted, dear readers. Be
sure to smile as you compliantly take the shaft.
Bush Labor Secretary nominee Linda Chavez has finally
done what's honorable and withdrawn her name from
consideration. She apparently knowingly harbored an
illegal alien, -- a felony. She may also have
illegally employed the woman without withholding
taxes.
Chavez had outrageously and hypocritically criticized
Clinton nominee Zoe Baird eight years ago for
employing an illegal alien as a nanny, while also
failing to withhold taxes.
Republicans are quite miffed at strong, pointed
Democratic criticism. Hey, "Boys"? What's good for the
goose is good for the gander. Can't stand the heat?
What goes around comes around. Why the hell shouldn't
the law be equally applied to all? Even Republicans?
More importantly, Chavez is unfit for office and would
have been a disaster for labor-management relations,
-- and the Bush Administration ultimately. ... After
all, Ole' George "The Tush" Bush is determined to
"unite" the country, isn't he?
Hopefully, Democrats and Independents will bring
enormous pressure against Attorney General nominee
John Ashcroft. Civil rights, civil liberties, and
abortion rights groups, -- among others, will stiffly
oppose this fascist. Rightfully so.
Readers are again reminded this writer is an
Independent, -- not a Democrat. With Ole' George
embracing the Extreme Right and fascism, however, it
is certainly hoped the Democrats will stiffly oppose
the President-elect every step of the way. -- Forcing
him to return to the Center. We'll see.
Readers will recall a scathing e-mail dated December
18, 2000 was sent to newly appointed LMHS
Administrator Jerry Durr requesting extra time to
examine cellular and employee "expense reports". For
months, Hospital management has dragged its feet
allowing only one hour of inspection each visit and
requiring e-mail requests for additional time.
The following letter was received via certified mail,
January 8, allowing two days notice prior to the
appointed time. -- Mighty generous of the
Administrator, no? In addition and even allowing for
the holidays, the response was well outside the ten
business days provided by law for open records
responses from governmental entities. -- Clearly, the
new Administrator has no more regard for the Texas
Public Information Act and its requirements than his
predecessor. Sadly, Mr. Durr is apparently beholden to
the "Good Old Boy" system securely implanted in this
corrupt and abusive County.

Re: Open Records Request of December 18, 2000
Dear Mr. Chorney:
This letter will acknowledge receipt of your written
Open Records Act request of December 18, 2000
requesting additional time to inspect cellular phone
records and employee expense reports.
These documents will be available for your inspection
in the administrative offices of Llano Memorial
Hospital, 200 W. Ollie Street, Llano, Texas on
Wednesday, January 10, 2001 during the hours of 3
o'clock p.m. and 4 o'clock p.m.
Very truly yours,
Jerry Durr
Administrator/CEO

A request for additional time has already been
e-mailed. Although data from the last inspection has
not yet been compiled and analyzed, one voucher is
particularly interesting.
LMHS personnel from the Business Office were
reimbursed for dinner at the Red Rose in Austin.
Readers may not know this establishment is a topless
club. While this writer has no opposition to sexually
oriented businesses, one has to question the propriety
of a governmental entity reimbursing employees for
meals at such an establishment.
Again, readers are reminded LMHS is indeed a public,
not private entity, subject to a different standard.
More importantly, why is a failing Hospital paying for
meals, period? To the tune of thousands at the very
least? Interesting, isn't it? Again, dear readers,
you're being looted.
Readers will recall Harvey H. Klee ran against
retiring JP2 Lanny "The Cop" Stephenson two years ago.
In response to an inquiring e-mail from this writer,
Mr. Klee forwarded the following letter to this
publication. The letter, accompanied by a curriculum
vitae, was sent to the County Judge and each member of
the Llano County Commissioners' Court. Although not in
agreement on all issues, Klee is clearly a highly
qualified applicant worthy of consideration by the
County Judge and Commissioners' Court.
Equally importantly, this man is a fine attorney and
NOT one of the "Good Old Boys" deeply entrenched in
this corrupt and abusive County. He would be a breath
of fresh air desperately needed in the Second
Precinct. Readers are reminded the office being
vacated by Ms. Stephenson has indeed been the cash cow
for the County. It is time for the corruption to end
and for the dignity of this office to be restored by
new blood not beholden to Ole' J.P. and his cronies on
the Commissioners' Court.
If Klee's application is not given serious
consideration by our corrupt and abusive officials, it
will serve as further evidence of their desperate need
to maintain a stranglehold on the cash cow Lanny
Stephenson's office has become. More importantly, it
is time to restore confidence in the criminal justice
system as represented by this office. Most
importantly, it is time for justice to be applied
equally to all, -- not just a select few. Sadly,
appointment of one of the "Good Old Boys" beholden to
Ole' J.P. and the "Boys" is already "in the works",
right, "Judge"? We'll see.

Please accept this letter and the enclosed resume for
consideration to fill an appointment as Justice of the
Peace, 2nd Precinct.
As you may be aware, I am the only person who has ran
as a candidate for this position, other than the
present incumbent. In my last run for this office, I
received 35% of the votes cast. I mention this to
point out that I already have substantial acceptance
for the position by the community in which I might be
appointed.
I have impeccable qualifications. Not only am I a
licensed attorney, as my resume will attest, but I
have written extensively on matters of law that are of
general interest to the community in local newspapers,
notably The River Cities Tribune and The Llano Buzz.
The advantage I have in being a licensed attorney and
remaining current on the law is that I would be able
to immediately fill the position with little or no
indoctrination as to the function of the job. In fact,
I have taught Small Claims courses here in Llano
County as a community service to enable the
proceedings to be run more effectively and efficiently
in our local Justice Courts.
I have also served as a mediator for the 33rd Judicial
District, primarily as a mediator in family law
matters and disputes involving the parent-child
relationship. This recent experience, as well as much
of my life experience, has enabled me to relate to
people in all walks of life in the most constructive
way possible.
Additionally, I have been teaching High School level
students for the past 1 1/2 years. I am employed as a
full time non-contract High School Spanish teacher
with the Marble Falls Independent School District.
Since the Justice of the Peace position entails
hearing cases concerning truancy and other juvenile
related matters, this experience helps me to be more
effective in dealing with such matters. I have an
excellent relationship with teenagers and know that I
could play a vital part in redirecting their energies
along more constructive paths as a Justice of the
Peace.
Even though all court proceedings are to be conducted
in English, my fluency in the Spanish language will
enable me to be more effective in dealing with a
growing Hispanic population to assure everyone the
benefit of a fair and impartial hearing in matters
that might be brought before the court.
I have always maintained an excellent relationship
with law enforcement agencies and have worked closely
with drug enforcement agencies, criminal racketeering
investigations, and other criminal law enforcement
matters. Earlier in my career, I was appointed to a
Committee on Juvenile Delinquency by the City of Los
Angeles in their attempt to reduce the incidence of
juvenile crime in that city. I had also served on a
vocational task force with the California Institute
For Men in Chino, California designed to reduce
incidents of recidivism. I believe that my working
relationship with local law enforcement agencies and
personnel would be productive, constructive and
harmonious.
The fact that I was elected and presently hold the
position of Post Commander of Kingsland Memorial Post
No. 437 and 21st District Chaplain, The American
Legion, Department of Texas evidences community
confidence in my ability to function as a decision
maker and community leader. My roots are firmly
planted within the community and will go a long way
towards my acceptance by the community in my role as
Justice of the Peace.
Your kind and thoughtful consideration of me for this
appointment would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Harvey H. Klee, Esq.

Posting of the January 22, 2001 Newsletter will begin
shortly. As strongly asserted in Special Edition V65,
the clock is indeed ticking... The combined visitor
count of The Llano Ledger and Llano Ledger 2 websites
stands in excess of 60,100, -- another excellent week
and true testament to the shameless willingness of the
readership to "steal" this writer's labor. Certainly,
you ought to be proud of yourselves. Nothing quite
like character, is there? Readers are reminded this
writer receives no renumeration from the banner and
pop-up advertising. They only pay for the website
itself. There is no personal compensation, nor are
there desperately needed funds for investigative
expenses. Non-profit and outrageously unfunded by the
readership it serves due to greed, gut-wrenching fear,
and the continuing relentless intimidation of corrupt
and abusive Llano County officials, this publication
remains as always beholden to NO ONE.
