While the business and church communities stood tall during the recent Kingsland flood catastrophe, there was one glaring exception. On 10-17-18, the Antlers Coffee Shop closed due to storm-related failure of the Kingsland water system. Patrons, however, are routinely allowed to get online outside even when the shop is closed.

A long-term coffee shop customer entered the hotel lobby to ask the desk clerk whether wifi was still up and running after the catastrophe. She said it was and told the patron he could get online inside the closed shop. She then asked him to have another regular customer who had just arrived outside to come in and get out of the cold as well.

Antlers co-proprietor Rick apparently quickly got wind of both customers, made quite a jackass of himself emulating the petulant narcissist currently occupying the Oval Office. Aggressive stupidity at a time the Kingsland business community is indeed suffering, can least afford it. Further proof positive of the old adage 'can fix ignorant, can't fix stupid.'

Why would, why should both customers put up with this? Think this hasn't happened to others?

Your goons have failed to take action against Theresa Ahrens when she tore down a no trespassing sign and barrier on Berardi's property. Why is Theresa Ahrens allowed by your goons to dictate what vehicles can and cannot be parked on Berardi's property? To say nothing of consequent resultant physical damage done to a motor home on that property.

Yet, the Sheriff continued to defend this piece of human excrement until he realized this entire fiasco would not be swept under the carpet.

Rodriguez is indeed an idiot. Would you believe this piece of crap ordered the motor home to be moved on to an unmarked unused Llano County road? That motor home has indeed been moved back to where it was parked before Rodriguez forced it to be moved. Why hasn't the County paid for the cost of moving it back? To say nothing of the damage.

Equally pointedly, why is it the County has allowed Theresa Ahrens to park and live in her tiny cottage on that very same road? Why hasn't she been evicted by the County? Why was she assessed taxes on an adjacent improvement she doesn't own?

Why is it, Counselor, Johnny Greene is paying for the attorney retained by Ms. Ahrens? Is Greene attempting to make this all go away by bribery? Greene has also informed Berardi he is going to sue. For what? Has Greene lost his mind?

What about Wells who installed a $4500 septic system on a lot turns out he does not own as a result of Greene, an outrageously inept County, to say nothing of the Llano County Attorney who remains equally determinedly clueless?

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission recognized District Attorney Wiley “Sonny” McAfee on August 22 for his efforts in prosecuting natural and cultural resource violations as well as environmental crimes. The commission named the 33rd and 424th district attorney the 2019 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Prosecutor of the Year. McAfee serves Burnet, Llano, Blanco, and San Saba counties. Elected in November 2012 and taking office on January 1, 2013, he has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases involving Texas game wardens and Texas State Park police officers."

The District Attorney has ignored a complaint filed earlier by this publication regarding special treatment accorded Texas oil man Johnny Greene by the Llano County Attorney and Sheriff vis a vis a property dispute involving a local banker, three other local property owners with homes encroaching on land they don't own, one of which is on an unused Llano County road. To say nothing of damage to a Pace Arrow motorhome on that property. All a result of egregious abuse of authority by Llano County Deputy Leroy Rodriguez, Badge #764. The circumstances of this fiasco can be found above in each and every edition of this publication since this happened two and a half years ago. The Sheriff, the County Attorney, and the District Attorney have all determinedly, concertedly ignored this ongoing, unresolved fiasco raising one ferociously pointed question. How much were they bribed?

Cowardly fail to financially and/or materially support those fighting for all civil and constitutional rights and liberties at great personal cost and risk? Get what you truly deserve.

Wake up, Sheriff. Again, where is dashcam video of the killing of Jeffrey Gray Wise, 52, of Austin by DPS and the Llano County Sheriff's Office? Two hundred sixteen weeks, now. A goddamned disgrace. Why are you still sitting on this information? What are you hiding, Sheriff? What is the identity of the officers who killed Wise? Too gutless to release this information to the public that pays your salary and that of your goons? Reportedly, there were three officers involved in the shooting.

Who are they, Sheriff? Their past history? An ongoing investigation remains a lame bullshit excuse. How can you and your goons be trusted when you refuse to disclose information? Two hundred sixteen weeks. Especially, your egregious failure to disclose the identity of the officers who pulled the trigger. To cover your sorry ass, Sheriff? Those of your thugs? "In Buffalo, N.Y., two officers have been suspended without pay after video showed them pushing a 75-year-old protester to the ground, causing him to be hospitalized with a serious head injury, authorities said."

"Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said late Thursday the man was in serious but stable condition at the Erie County Medical Center. Video of the incident shot shortly after curfew set in at 8 p.m. shows the two officers shove the man, causing him to lose his balance, fall and hit his head against the sidewalk in front of Buffalo City Hall. Blood dripped from his head and pooled under him."

Jackbooted nazi motherf--kers in blue. How is this tolerable in what is ostensibly supposed to be a democratic republic?

"He's bleeding out of his ear," a bystander is heard yelling. Mark Poloncarz, Erie County's executive, described the man's injury as "serious" but said he is expected to recover. "Simply put, the officers must be held responsible for their actions, not just fired," Poloncarz said, adding what he saw in the video "sickens me."

"New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo condemned the incident as "wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful." Cuomo said he spoke with Brown and they agreed the officers involved should be suspended pending a formal investigation. "Police officers must enforce -- NOT ABUSE -- the law," he tweeted."

All talk, no action, Governor. Had it been an officer so abused, the perpetrator would have been immediately arrested, quickly charged. Double standard. More bullshit:

"Brown said he and Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood were "deeply disturbed" by the video and that Lockwood has launched an investigation into the incident. "After days of peaceful protests and several meetings between myself, police leadership and members of the community, tonight's event is disheartening," the mayor said in a statement. "My thoughts are with the victim tonight."

"Meanwhile, New York Attorney General Letitia James tweeted she's "aware" of the video."

"The New York Civil Liberties Union urged local leaders to use the situation as "a wake-up call" to address police violence. "There is no place for military-geared police to enforce a curfew by inflicting violence on the very people they are supposed to protect," John Curr, director of the NYCLU Buffalo Chapter, said in a statement. "We are in solidarity with Buffalo's protesters and demand that demonstrators can protest without the threat of police brutality on the streets tomorrow."

"Indianapolis police said they are investigating video that shows two officers using batons and pepper balls to control a woman earlier this week."

"Prosecutors have handed down charges for the two Buffalo Police officers seen apparently shoving an elderly protester in a graphic video earlier this week. Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced Saturday that officers Robert McCabe and Aaron Torgalski are facing one count each of second-degree assault. Both officers have pleaded not guilty. Flynn said the severity of the charge, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison, is partly because of the age difference between the protester and the men charged. In the video, the officers appear to shove and injure Martin Gugino, 75, outside of City Hall as their fellow officers walk past. "It's black and white in the letter of the law," Flynn told a news conference. "It says right there, anyone who's a victim 65 years or older and the perpetrator is [at least] 10 years younger — it's a felony." After McCabe and Torgalski were suspended without pay, all 57 members of their unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT), resigned their positions with the team on Friday and sought reassignment within the department. "While some officers have chosen to remove themselves from a voluntary assignment with the ERT, it is important to note that no officers have actually resigned from the police force," Commissioner Byron Lockwood said in a statement Friday. "We have a contingency plan," Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown told a news conference, when asked about the resignations. "We always have a contingency plan." The officers have not publicly come forward to explain the mass resignation. John Evans, president of the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association, told local NBC affiliate WGRZ the reason was "disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders."

"Another local media outlet, ABC affiliate WKBW, cited a pair of unnamed members of the ERT who contradicted the union's explanation, saying the resignation "has nothing to do with us supporting" the pair of suspended officers. Rather, the resignations, according to one officer, came because the union is not "legally backing us anymore."

"The charges brought Saturday add to what has been a growing tally of such actions filed against officers in multiple cities in recent days. In Minneapolis, prosecutors charged George Floyd's arresting officer with murder after video showed him planting his knee on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes; three other officers who were at the scene were charged with aiding and abetting murder. In Atlanta, a half-dozen officers face charges for a violent arrest during protests set off by Floyd's death."

"A white Fairfax County police officer has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of assault and battery after authorities said he used a stun gun on a black man who was disoriented and did not appear combative as he paced on a street in the Mount Vernon neighborhood on Friday. Officer Tyler Timberlake was arrested Saturday evening after Fairfax County police and prosecutors reviewed body-camera footage of the incident, which appeared to show Timberlake deploying the stun gun on the victim multiple times and sticking his knees on the man’s neck and back without obvious provocation. Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr. called the use of force “horrible” at a Saturday news conference and said it violated the department’s policies. Timberlake, an eight-year veteran, has been relieved of duty and is also under an administrative investigation. “The video erodes the public’s trust of police officers,” Roessler said. “I’ve personally reached out to the victim and spoke with his mother to express my disgust with my officer’s unacceptable, criminal actions.” The incident began when someone called police to Fordson Road around 1:30 p.m. Friday because a man was walking in the street and shouting that he needed oxygen, Roessler said. The man, whom police did not identify, was having an “episode,” Roessler said, but police are still investigating whether it was mental-health or drug-related or something else. The incident that followed was captured by the body camera of the first Fairfax County police officer who arrived on the scene. The video, which was played at the news conference, shows the officer getting out of his car and approaching a man who is pacing in circles and mumbling incoherently on the residential street. The officer attempts to coax the man toward an ambulance that is parked nearby. A second man, who appears to be a medic, also tells the man acting erratically that he is there to help. “I’m here to help you,” the man who appears to be a medic says. “Just tell me what you need.” The victim appears to say he wants to go to detox, before continuing to pace around the street. Eventually, Timberlake arrives on the scene in a squad car, gets out and walks toward the victim. Timberlake orders the man to get down on the ground and then uses the stun gun on him seconds later. The victim falls on his back and Timberlake orders him to “roll over” before putting his knee in the man’s back and another on his neck. The victim shouts for help. Timberlake hits him in head with the stun gun. Finally, he appears to deploy it again. Eventually, officers handcuffed the man. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released, police said."

"Timberlake could face up to 36 months in prison if convicted of all three charges. He works out of the Mount Vernon station and was awarded an honor in 2015 for helping residents escape from an apartment fire. He could not be reached for comment and it was unclear whether he had retained an attorney. Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano said at the news conference that the case was a testament to the value of body cameras. He called the footage unsettling. “Without it, I fear we would have had a[n] unfortunately narrow and somewhat distorted view of what happened in one of our neighborhoods,” Descano said."

"A police officer in Las Cruces, N.M. has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after using a choke hold that killed a man in February. According to a statement from the Las Cruces Police Department, on Feb. 29 Las Cruces Police Officer Christopher Smelser "utilized a vascular neck restraint technique" which resulted in the death of auto mechanic Antonio Valenzuela. Police said during a traffic stop Valenzuela, 40, fled on foot and police chased him, deployed a Taser twice and then restrained him. Valenzuela died at the scene. The department has since prohibited use of vascular neck restraint during apprehensions. The Las Cruces Police also terminated Smelser's employment Friday after the medical examiner ruled that Valenzuela's death was a homicide. "Words are insufficient to bring comfort to Antonio Valenzuela's family, but I extend my sincere condolences for their loss," police chief Patrick Gallagher said in a statement. "It is a tragic day for everyone involved when there is an in-custody death or a death as a result of a police apprehension. Once we learned of the findings in the Medical Investigator's report, we felt it necessary to immediate initiate termination proceedings."

"Body camera footage obtained Sunday shows a New Mexico police officer telling a man he’s going to “choke you out” before allegedly causing his death with what authorities described as a “vascular neck restraint.” The officer, Christopher Smelser, was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the Feb. 29 death of Antonio Valenzuela. On the same day, the Las Cruces Police Department filed a letter of intent to fire Smelser."

How the f--k is it 'involuntary' when the jackbooted bastard strangled him to death?

"In a statement, chief Patrick Gallagher cited the conclusions of an autopsy report, which he received on June 4 and which listed Valenzuela’s cause of death as “asphyxia injuries due to physical restraint," according to documents obtained by NBC News. Gallagher added that the department immediately prohibited the use of the vascular neck restraint."

"Methamphetamines found in Valenzuela's system also “significantly” contributed to his death, the autopsy says."

"In video footage obtained by NBC affiliate KOB, Smelser can be heard telling Valenzuela, “I’m going to f*** choke you out, bro.” Valenzuela can be heard gasping for breath."

"A lawyer for Valenzuela’s family, Sam Bregman, told reporters Tuesday that Valenzuela didn’t attack Smelser, brandish a weapon or threaten him. “He was running away,” he said. “There was absolutely no justification to choke him, and certainly nothing to justify killing him.”

"In a statement to NBC News, Smelser’s lawyer, Amy Orlando, said Smelser “regrets” Valenzuela’s death, but said he was “actively resisting,” had a weapon and “violently fought” officers. Orlando did not say what kind of weapon Valenzuela had, but added that it was found in a pocket that he was reaching for. Orlando said that Smelser told Valenzuela he was going to use the neck restraint, which she described as a “last resort.” “What is happening in our nation surrounding the protests and riots is a serious issue,” she said. “However, the facts of the incident in Minnesota that triggered the public’s outcry are vastly different than the facts in our case at hand.”

"Bregman said that Valenzuela’s family believes that Smelser should face second-degree murder charges as well. “This police officer literally said, ‘I’m going to choke you out, bro,'” he said. “That is not involuntary manslaughter. That is second-degree manslaughter.” A spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, Roxanne Garcia-McElmell, declined to comment. “We need to maintain the integrity of the fair trial process,” she said."

"Two Florida police officers are facing charges after video showed one of them slapping and then repeatedly punching an intoxicated man who was yelling at them at a hospital. Fort Pierce police officer Albert Eckrode, 32, resigned Friday and was charged with felony battery and official misconduct and a misdemeanor count of filing a false police report, Chief Diane Hobley-Burney told reporters Monday according to the TCPalm website. Officer Monica Frederic, 27, is charged with misdemeanor filing a false police report and is suspended without pay. “This was not use of force — it was a criminal act,” Hobley-Burney said."

A soundless three-minute video from the hospital's security system from Feb. 20 shows a 38-year-old man sitting in recliner in a hospital's mental health unit with his feet up. The man, whose name was not released, had been picked up for public intoxication and brought to the hospital. He is gesturing and appears to be yelling at Frederic, who is seated about 10 feet (3 meters) away, and another officer when Eckrode enters. Eckrode listens to the man for a few seconds, calmly puts the water bottle he is carrying down and then confronts the man, using his foot to slam down the recliner's foot rest."

"Towering over the still seated man, Eckrode leans into him and uses his knee to push the chair backward twice. He then slaps the man's cheek with his right hand. They continue jawing at each other and Eckrode slaps him with his left hand. The man appears to start yelling back at Eckrode and taps his own cheek, as if to challenge Eckrode, who then taps his own ear in response. He then slaps the man a third time hard and pushes him in the chest as they continue jawing at each other. The man turns his cheek toward Eckrode, as if daring the officer to hit him. Eckrode punches him four times and the man briefly slumps over. Eckrode then cleans his hands."

"On their reports, Eckrode and Frederic said the man had had been yelling racial slurs at Frederic, who is black."

"But Chief Hobley-Burney, who is black, disputed that, saying the altercation “was not racial at all.” She called Eckrode “a very good officer” who perhaps let his emotions get the best of him."

“We will not allow anyone who wears the badge of this department to do such actions to any citizen," she said. Still, she said, “sometimes we are human too. And I think what was happening with (Eckrode) is it’s possible that what was being said, he wanted (the man) to stop, and he did not."

Officer Vincent D'Andraia turned himself in at the 84th Precinct in Brooklyn on Tuesday. He is charged with assault, criminal mischief, harassment and menacing in the incident the city's police commissioner Dermot Shea has described as "troubling" and "disturbing." He is the first city police officer in New York to face arrest over his conduct during the large protests that have followed since Floyd, a black man, died on May 25 after a white officer knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes in Minneapolis during an arrest. "I fully support the long-held American tradition of non-violent protest," District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement, adding that he "cannot tolerate the use of excessive force against anyone exercising this Constitutionally guaranteed right. This is especially true of those who are sworn to protect us and uphold the law." Gonzalez said he is "deeply troubled by this unnecessary assault" and "will now seek to hold this defendant accountable."

"D'Andraia, 28, who lives in Holbrook on Long Island, could not immediately be reached for comment. He reports to the 73rd Precinct, which includes Brownsville, a neighborhood in Brooklyn. He is expected to be arraigned later Tuesday. In a statement released late Friday, the police commissioner said that D'Andraia and another officer involved in a separate incident on May 30 had been suspended without pay. Shea did not identify the officers. The second officer, who has not been named publicly, was recorded pulling down a man's face mask and then spraying the man in the face with pepper spray during a protest in Brooklyn."

"D'Andraia's supervisor, Deputy Inspector Craig Edelman, the precinct commander, would also be transferred as a result of the incident, the commissioner said."

"The woman who was filmed while shoved, Dounya Zayer, 20, has said she was standing in the street protesting peacefully on the night of May 29 when, without provocation, an officer walked up to her and told her to get out of the street. She said she asked why and that the officer then shoved her and called her a "stupid f------ b----." The district attorney's office said the incident occurred at approximately 8:44 p.m. near the Barclays Center. D'Andraia was walking with a contingent of police officers assigned to monitor a large crowd of demonstrators. D'Andraia allegedly smacked Zayer's cell phone out of her hand and violently shoved her to the ground, according to investigators. "She can be seen rolling on the street and into a curb," the district attorney's statement said. "Meanwhile, the defendant and fellow officers can be seen to continue walking." Video of the encounter quickly spread across social media. At a news conference last Tuesday near where the incident occurred, Zayer said she was shoved with such force that she flew out of her shoes, slamming her head onto the street. "I am in pain. My head hurts. I haven't slept in three days. And I cannot stop throwing up," she said. "But I am trying everything in my power to hold myself together for the people who are depending on me to speak on the situation." Zayer said she was hospitalized and treated for a seizure and a concussion. "He did this in front of his lieutenant and multiple other officers who watched me hit the ground. One even looked back to make sure I was still on the ground, and they continued walking," Zayer said. "Not one officer tried to help me, and not one officer tried to stop the officer who assaulted me."

"Zayer's lawyer, Tahani Aboushi, told NBC News on Tuesday that although D'Andraia has been arrested and charged, she and her client "are cautiously optimistic and justice remains to be seen." "His commander Craig Edelman who watched the assault is just as culpable," Aboushi said. "We're very concerned that the NYPD has only chosen to transfer Edelman instead of holding him accountable." Aboushi said Zayer "is having a very difficult time" and is still experiencing back and shoulder pain and has been vomiting often."

"In this case, we believe the force was neither legally necessary nor reasonable." The charge came more than a month after the alleged assault occurred on April 27 when Hernandez and his partner responded to a call of a trespasser in a vacant lot in Boyle Heights near downtown Los Angeles. According to the District Attorney's Office, Hernandez is accused of punching the unnamed trespassing suspect in the head, neck and body during an encounter that was recorded by a bystander and shared on social media. The footage led to a use-of-force investigation and the LAPD released body camera footage of the encounter in early May. According to the District Attorney's Office statement, investigators presented Lacey with their findings on June 2 for filing consideration. "The department has taken this matter very seriously from day one and he will be held accountable for his actions," LAPD Chief Michel Moore said in a statement Tuesday. The LAPD said it will continue to assist the district attorney's investigation. Hernandez has been stripped of all police powers and has been assigned home. The Los Angeles Police Protective Union, which Hernandez is a member, issued a statement late Tuesday, stating while it has a fiduciary responsibility to its members, "what we saw on that video was unacceptable and is not what we are trained to do." Richard Castillo, who is homeless, filed a lawsuit against the city and the police force last month after the body camera footage was released over the encounter, accusing one officer of using closed fists to strike him while a second officer "failed to intervene." If convicted, Hernandez faces a maximum sentence of three years in county jail."

No one filmed the moment; other officers were there, according to news reports, but no one backed her story during an independent arbitration, and Horne was fired."

"The protectors can quickly become the oppressors, particularly for people of color," Wray said. "Civil rights and civil liberties are at the heart of who we are as Americans." Wray's stance was distinct from that of Barr, who focused on violence caused by protestors to justify the deployment of federal agents and his authorization of the use of non-lethal force against crowds in front of the White House on Monday. According to the sources, on Wednesday the Bureau considered holding a press conference because it wanted to separate itself from the tough stance Barr had taken in his pledge to continue ramping up federal law enforcement's response in D.C. even as protests turned largely peaceful on Tuesday night. "They feel a strong need to delineate what they are and are not doing," said a source familiar with internal deliberations at the FBI. "You won't see FBI agents with a baton and shield." The FBI's recent arrest of three men connected to the far-right "Boogaloo" movement for their attempt to provoke violence at protests also underlines the Bureau's distance from Barr who has, like Trump, said leftist extremist groups are to blame for the violence. "This is representative of the FBI trying to avoid Barr's narrative by doing its job," the source said."

"A senior DOJ official said, “When it comes to dealing with riots, it’s really a state and local issue. That’s not typically the role of federal law enforcement.” Attorney General Barr's surge of federal law enforcement to respond to protesters and unrest in cities around the country, particularly in D.C., has put some agencies in the uncomfortable position of defending their role in responding to protests, a situation few of their agents have been trained to meet. Agents for the Drug Enforcement Administration, for example, were recently given new authority by Barr to "conduct covert surveillance" and make arrests, according to a memo first reported by BuzzFeed. Agents from the Department of Homeland Security have also been called to respond to protests. Over 300 Customs and Border Protection officers and agents in the D.C. region were deployed beginning Monday night, a call that came with little warning or planning, according to a DHS official."

NPR has reviewed court documents of 51 individuals facing federal charges in connection with the unrest. As of Tuesday morning, none is alleged to have links to the antifa movement. Of the cases brought so far, 20 involve allegations related to arson; 16 involve the illegal possession of a firearm, more often than not by a felon; another eight people face charges related to inciting a riot or civil disorder. The single instance in which an extremist group is mentioned in court documents is a case against three Nevada men. Federal prosecutors allege the trio belong to the right-wing Boogaloo movement that wants to bring about a civil war. The men have been charged with plotting violence during Las Vegas protests. In an interview Monday with Fox News, Barr said the lack of cases against alleged antifa activists so far does not mean they haven't been involved in the violence. "We have some investigations underway, very focused investigations on certain individuals that relate to antifa," Barr told Fox News host Bret Baier. "But in the initial phase of identifying people and arresting them, they were arrested for crimes that don't require us to identify a particular group or don't necessitate that." Former federal prosecutors said if the government had indications that an individual had ties to or documented interest in a particular extremist movement, they would likely include it in charging documents to cite it during a bail hearing.

"In his Fox interview, Barr repeated his assertion that an array of extremist groups has been instigating the violence, although he did — as he has repeatedly since the unrest over Floyd's death began — single out antifa as the primary culprit. The attorney general isn't the only one. President Trump, too, has pointed the finger at antifa. He went so far as to threaten to designate it a terrorist organization — despite lacking the legal authority to do so. On top of that, experts said antifa isn't even a group; it's more of a diffuse movement of leftists who share a similar ideology in opposition to fascism. Barr described antifa as a "very loosely organized group" with a "sort of unique or unusual system of communication and organization." On the question of hierarchy, he said that "there are people who could be characterized as leaders in any given situation." "On Wednesday evening, troops and others were out in force in Washington. A Defense official said at least 2,200 National Guard members would be on the streets. Helmeted forces ringed Lafayette Park across from the White House. Military vehicles were parked at intersections, blocking access. Mattis, in his essay Wednesday, called the scene an “abuse of executive authority.” The retired general quit the Trump administration in December 2018 after months of conflict with the president as Trump announced he was unilaterally withdrawing American troops from Syria. Though the crackdown on the Washington demonstrations was praised by some Trump supporters, a handful of Republicans expressed concern that law enforcement officers risked violating the protesters’ First Amendment rights. Trump had been furious about images juxtaposing fires set in the park outside the executive mansion with a darkened White House in the background, according to current and former campaign and administration officials. He was also angry about the news coverage revealing he had gone to the secure White House bunker during Friday’s protests. Trump acknowledged he visited the bunker but claimed he was only conducting an inspection as protests raged outside."

"Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska on Thursday praised former Defense Secretary James Mattis' blistering critique of President Donald Trump as "true and honest and necessary and overdue." Murkowski said: "When I saw Gen. Mattis' comments yesterday I felt like perhaps we are getting to a point where we can be more honest with the concerns that we might hold internally and have the courage of our own convictions to speak up. And so I'm working as one individual to form the right words, knowing that these words really matter so I appreciate General Mattis’ comments." In a statement in The Atlantic magazine on Wednesday, Mattis, a retired Marine Corps general, said Trump has abused his executive authority and used his presidency to further divide the country. "Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people — does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us," Mattis wrote. Asked if she'd support the re-election of the president, whom she voted to acquit at his impeachment trial despite behavior she said was "shameful," Murkowski said: "I am struggling with it. I have struggled with it for a long time." Murkowski said she'd continue to work with Trump and his administration in the meantime. "I think right now, as we are all struggling to find ways to express the words that need to be expressed appropriately, questions about who I'm going to vote for or not going to vote for, I think, are distracting at the moment. I know people might think that's a dodge, but I think there are important conversations that we need to have as an American people among ourselves about where we are right now," she said."

"Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, called Mattis' statement "stunning and powerful." Without going into detail about the contents of his statement, Romney called him "an American patriot" and "an individual whose judgment I respect." Romney was the only Republican senator who voted to convict Trump on one of the two articles of impeachment."

"Trump pushed back against Mattis in a pair of Wednesday night tweets, claiming he'd fired him and labeling him "an overrated general." John Kelly, who was Trump's chief of staff at the time, told The Washington Post on Thursday, "The president has clearly forgotten how it actually happened or is confused." “The president did not fire him. He did not ask for his resignation,” Kelly, who like Mattis is a retired Marine Corps general, told the paper, adding, "Jim Mattis is an honorable man."

"And even more troubling, the Congress would just sit there and not in any way resist what the president is doing." "The one word I have to use with respect to what he's been doing for the last several years is the word I would never have used before, never would have used with any of the four presidents I worked for, he lies," Powell added. "He lies about things. And he gets away with it because people will not hold him accountable."

And just days later, the mayor condemned the use of munitions on peaceful protesters for Trump's walk to the church, an incident she called shameful. On Thursday, she also sent him a letter requesting the withdrawal of all extra federal law enforcement and troops from the city, noting that the additional forces "can breed dangerous confusion." By Friday, Army Secretary Andrew McCarthy said all 1,600 active duty military police who were brought to bases in the D.C. region, including in Virginia and Maryland, are heading back to their home bases. Separately, some 4,500 members of the National Guard who have been operating in the city will remain for now."

Bush and Bill Clinton, on Sunday told CNN's State of the Union he believes that Trump has "drifted away" from the Constitution, praising military officials for their criticism of Trump's policies. "We have a Constitution and we have to follow that Constitution," said Powell. Powell also declared he plans to vote for former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, saying he is very close to him "on a social matter and on a political matter" adding he believes Trump has not been an effective president and accusing him of lying "all the time"

"In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Sunday that the city was lifting its curfew which had previously been planned to be implemented from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday. The decision followed a legal threat against extending the curfew from the New York American Civil Liberties Union and New York Police Department Commissioner Dermont Shea saying curfews were not effective during an appearance on NBC's Today show. "The problem is, people need to listen to a curfew and that's not going to happen first and foremost. If people think it will they don't understand what's going on," Shea said. During a news conference Sunday, de Blasio also said two NYPD officers have been suspended without pay and will face further disciplinary actions for harming protesters during the demonstrations. One officer was accused of shoving a woman to the ground while the other allegedly pulled down a protester's face covering and sprayed the person with pepper spray."

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other top Democrats in the House and the Senate on Monday unveiled far-reaching legislation to overhaul policing in the United States as protests over excessive force by law enforcement against African Americans and others have gripped the nation. The bill, called the “Justice in Policing Act,” would ban chokeholds, including the kind used by a then-Minneapolis police officer in the death of George Floyd last month, as well as no-knock warrants in drug cases, as was used in the incident leading to the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky, in March, according to a a House Democratic aide and a bill summary obtained by NBC News. The legislation, which has more than 200 Democratic co-sponsors in the House and the Senate, would require local police departments to send data on the use of force to the federal government and create a grant program that would allow state attorneys general to create an independent process to investigate misconduct or excessive use of force, according to the five-page summary of the bill. Further, the bill would make it easier for people to recover damages when police departments violate their civil rights and, for the first time, would make lynching a federal hate crime.

"A training program would be created under the bill that would cover racial bias and duty to intervene, and the measure would require that police officers use deadly force only as a last resort and use de-escalation techniques. The measure would also create a federal registry for misconduct complaints and disciplinary actions against police officers. Under the bill, federal uniformed police officers would be required to wear body cameras and marked federal police vehicles would be required to have dashboard cameras. The legislation would also limit the transfer of military-grade equipment to state and local police departments."

State and local police should not have, and do not need military-grade equipment. Militarization of law enforcement is, and has been, a major problem. Time for that to drastically change. Lasting change demands criminal law enforcement officers be subject to the very same treatment under the law as civilians. Not clear how this proposed legislation will effectively accomplish that.

"The Justice in Policing Act of 2020 would ban chokeholds, establish a national database to track police misconduct and prohibit certain no-knock warrants, among other initiatives. Many of the proposals were crafted long ago but are garnering attention now amid the nationwide protests in response to Floyd’s death in police custody last month."

"A former federal judge appointed to review the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss criminal charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn has found that the government’s request should be denied because there is “clear evidence of a gross abuse of prosecutorial power.” Former U.S. District Judge John Gleeson said in a filing Wednesday that the government “has engaged in highly irregular conduct to benefit a political ally of the President.” Gleeson was appointed by U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan in a special role to weigh in on the case, but it will ultimately be up to Sullivan and potentially an appeals court whether to accept the Justice Department’s motion to drop the case."

Several years ago to determinedly apply renewed pressure on our truly worthless, egregiously self-serving Texas Attorney General, now Governor, an excoriating email was sent to the bastard. Copies of which were also passed on to both offending Wells Fargo officers. A copy was also sent to the Davis campaign and others at the time.

Voters did have a right to know as Attorney General, the GOP candidate for Governor apparently selectively investigated, or not, bona fide complaints filed by citizens against banks too big to fail. Possibly, Wells Fargo could have lined his pockets in some fashion. That has yet to be determined.

The bastard and his office, no matter what, failed to respond to the complaint originally snail mailed several years ago. This material, figuratively targeting Wells Fargo and the governor 'wannabe' now Governor, had been posted and can be found by scrolling all the way down and clicking on the links well below. ... This young woman has indeed been rewarded by the Wells Fargo corporate management suite for engaging in criminal deceptive trade practices and her undying loyalty to her corporate masters. This writer, then and now, remains primarily interested in state, federal, and international issues. Another reason for this publication name change. Despite the fact I stupidly cluelessly remain here, local issues must be addressed. Can't be ignored. That's where you come in dear readers. Have the courage to inform this writer of local abuse, corruption, ineptness you are aware of, have personally experienced.

The only way, short of an unwanted dreaded second American revolution, to force badly-needed change is to expose all this to the light of day. Then, you gallingly complain about the oppression as you tolerate egregious theft of your labor. Not only by your corporate masters, but their bought and paid for government lackeys. Too cowardly to stand up, allow disclosure of your identity when you rightfully complain to this publication of being mercilessly f--ked. Some of you falsely arrested, criminally assaulted, bogusly fined for 'offenses' you did not commit. To line County coffers. Keep the peasants in line and under control. A fascist police-state. Nazi America.

Again, yet another reason why this publication is called Liberty In Peril. Most galling? Nothing changes if you fail to step up and challenge corrupt, abusive, inept authority. Too afraid, cowardly compliant to let the bastards know who you are. Did it ever occur to the cowards out there if the identity of the accuser is kept under wraps the bastards will falsely claim it's all made up by this publication? Thus, conveniently killing all credibility. Wake up.

Cowardice is unbecoming, unworthy of our formerly great country. Insult to injury? There are the hopelessly deranged who believe the chicanery reported here to be manufactured anyway. No matter the effort. No matter the research. No matter the proof. Wake up. This writer cannot do it alone. Snowball's chance in hell. Then again, cowardice, delusion is always amply, justly rewarded. Always. You continue to 'enjoy' the very best government money can buy. Literally.
