*************November 13, 2000****************

This is a special edition of _The Llano Ledger. The following Newsletter from Protect Lake Area Needs (PLAN) was received this morning, November 7, and will be posted in its entirety. Sadly, it coincidentally and conveniently comes at a time when this writer was about to announce future plans regarding this publication. Perhaps, the timing is just as well, since it will give you, dear readers, time to ponder your cowardly and selfish lack of support of both entities:

PLAN, INC.
PROTECT LAKE AREA NEEDS
374 CR 216 AA
Bluffton, Texas 78607

November*********NEWSLETTER***********2000

"How necessary it is at all times to watch against the attempted encroachment of power, and to prevent its running to excess." Thomas Paine

"Offices are as acceptable here as elsewhere, and whenever a man has cast a longing eye on them, a rottenness begins in his conduct." Thomas Jefferson

PLAN, INC. OFFICIALLY DISSOLVED!

At its Annual Membership Meeting held on September 13, 2000 the membership unanimously voted to dissolve PLAN, Inc.. The meeting itself was poorly attended, which reflected the problems PLAN has been experiencing over the past few years. The bare minimum number of members were present however, to establish a quorum to hold the meeting.

The membership voted to have the organization distribute its assets to local charities as may be approved by the Executive Committee after all outstanding debts and obligations have been satisfied. It directed that all members be advised of the decision to dissolve the corporation by special Newsletter. They further directed that notification go out to the local media announcing their decision. Secretary Harvey H. Klee was directed to take whatever steps were necessary to effectuate this decision.

Effective October 20, 2000 the Secretary of State approved and placed on record PLAN's Articles of Dissolution.

... The clock's ticking. Inexorably. Day by day. Week to week. Month after month. ... Since March 29, 1999, the day _The Llano Ledger was created. Incomprehensibly, it's been over a year and seven months of 16-hr. days, 7 days per week, since launch. With no pay. No advertisers. -- Just a few donations of cash, food, and a 21-speed bicycle. ... And of course, the rides. Hundreds of them. All over Burnet and Llano Counties. I'm deeply grateful to all who have offered help and support.

Sadly, however, it has not been enough. Without financial support from the community, there can be no hardcopy. With no hardcopy, there is no reaching of a sufficient number of citizens to affect badly-needed change.

With over 37,000 hits on the website, however, someone's apparently reading _The Ledger. Has this publication done ANY good other than perversely entertain and titillate the readership? Hell, no. After all, the same S.O.B.s are still in power, aren't they? -- White collar thugs, indeed laughing their asses off all the way to the bank.

With good reason. Sadly, dear readers, the people ARE stupid. Ole' J.P.'s certainly right about that, isn't he? Precisely why, he and his cronies on the Commissioners' Court do as they please, --regardless of the law and the U.S. Constitution.

Despite a year and seven months of relentless pounding of the corrupt and abusive "leadership" of this County on the website, the level of cowardice in Llano County is as high or higher than ever before. -- Certainly makes me ashamed of my fellow Texans. Most pointedly, apparently, we as Americans, are no longer what we used to be. Indeed, the Founders must be rolling over in their graves.

Submission to cowardly fear is sickening and despicable. After all, courage is NOT the absence of fear. It is acting despite and in spite of it. In Llano County, however, cowardice and greed rule. ... Spare me the excuses, friends. They don't wash, -- and never will. Not one of you has taken the risk this writer has. NOT ONE.

Clearly and without question, this publication has affected no change. This writer, however, has taken great pleasure in relentlessly and aggressively kicking the ass of our County's worst offenders. The look of fear in the eyes of a few of them is certainly indicative this publication is straight on target.

-- And will continue to remain on target until at least March 29, 2001, the second anniversary. As stated on the Home page, _The Ledger was created to serve the people of Llano County. Just as importantly, it was established to stand for principle, -- regardless of the personal cost to this writer.

With no financial support from the community within three months after launch, however, the tireless effort has only been for the sake of principle. To this very day. With extremely rare exception, the selfishness and cowardice of this community have been stunning to behold.

Despite extremely pointed rhetoric directed at officials as well as readers, the visitor count has continued to grow exponentially. ... Ironically speaking, too bad. Had it not, this writer would have long since been gone. After all, there would have been no point.

Why write if no one is reading? The visitor count, however, strangely and inexplicably continued to grow despite the deliberate pounding of you, dear readers. Interesting, isn't it? ... Are you indeed gluttons for punishment?

All joking aside, there hasn't been a day since launch that the sanity and wisdom of publishing _The Ledger haven't been seriously questioned by this writer. Frankly and amusingly, who is more irrational? This writer for writing or you, dear readers, for reading? Good question. ... Maybe we're all nuts, no?

Again all joking aside, the clock is ticking. Should this publication not become profitable by the second anniversary, I'm gone. Although this decision was made prior to launch, why is it being announced now? Simply put, this writer no longer has a vested interest in Llano County, -- just principle. Our corrupt and abusive officials are quite aware my property was recently sold.

While the sale must have been a source of joy to those repeatedly and savagely targeted, a few supportive officials, however, have privately expressed concern it would mean the end of this publication. Not yet. Not until the end of March at the very earliest.

As also asserted earlier on _The Ledger website, this writer has been self-employed since graduate school in a variety of small businesses. Although unpaid, this has been the most important, satisfying, and meaningful work I've ever done. I'd certainly like to continue. Sadly, dear readers, all good things, however, come to an end if not financially supported. This publication is no exception.

Want our outrageously corrupt and abusive officials to win? Continue doing exactly what you're doing right now. ... Nothing. ... Squat. There is indeed no free lunch, friends. Some may have thought so for the last year and seven months as this writer relentlessly struggled with no resources, but you've been sadly mistaken. If there is no financial support by the end of March, I'll get back into the electronics business as an engineering consultant. With a used lap-top computer and cell-phone providing Internet access, business can be done anywhere in the U.S., -- traveling as necessary in an RV or by plane.

Within a few weeks at most and for the next five months, I need a place to park an RV free of charge in return for keeping an eye on the premises at night. Since I generate my own power with alternative energy and have a composting toilet, no hook-ups are necessary.

If you have acreage or a weekend residence ANYWHERE in the area that needs watching, kindly e-mail. Believe it or not and as many of you already know who have met me, I'm not a S.O.B. in personal life, -- only professionally. With no income from this publication, I have to be extremely careful how funds are spent over the next few months. Again, should _The Ledger become profitable by the end of March, I remain. If not, it's time to go.

The choice is indeed yours, dear readers. If you want this publication to continue, you have to financially support it. Otherwise, I'm gone. Expect the blistering effort and rhetoric to continue until the end of March. Should there be no financial support by then, again, I'm gone.

No joke. No bulls--t. No manipulation. Just fact. For the last year and seven months, this writer has tirelessly and painstakingly struggled to establish credibility and put out a high quality product week after week.

Despite the harassment. Despite no financial support. No computer. No phone. No office. No running vehicle. No money for investigative expenses, -- and until recently, inadequate food. Most importantly, you have NEVER been lied to by this writer. Nor will you. That's why when I tell you I'm gone at the end of March should there be no financial support, I mean it. Think I'm kidding? Watch.

For those who have offered financial support in return for editorial control of content and direction, kindly put it where the sun doesn't shine. ... Walking away at the end of March would indeed be preferable.

It's time to move on anyway, dear readers, isn't it? Why stay in this corrupt and abusive black hole called Llano County if I don't have to, and there is no financial support for this publication? Bottom line? If you care so little for your community and each other, why should I?

Sadly, Ole' Gov. George "The Tush" Bush is apparently trying to steal the election. With interesting developments in the still-unresolved Presidential Election and LMHS as well, posting of next week's edition, November 20, 2000, will begin shortly. Look for it at the bottom of the Table Of Contents on Newsletter Text V66.

The visitor count stands in excess of 38,000, -- another excellent week and true testament to the shameless willingness of the readership to "steal" this writer's labor. Certainly, you ought to be proud of yourselves. Nothing quite like "character", is there? Readers are advised this writer receives no renumeration from the banner and pop-up advertising. They only pay for the website itself. There is no personal compensation, nor are there desperately needed funds for investigative expenses. Non-profit and outrageously unfunded by the readership it serves due to greed, gut-wrenching fear, and the continuing relentless intimidation of corrupt and abusive Llano County officials, this publication remains as always beholden to NO ONE.
