Liberty In Peril

This publication has been in suspension since March 2003 for reasons explained on the Home Page.  Much has happened in the United States, as well as the rest of the world, since the last edition.  ... Sadly, most of it disturbing.  Much of it achingly heartbreaking.

Got guts? Tired of being lied to? Like an alternative source of information truly independent and free of government propaganda? Want this publication to continue? Send a donation to P.O. Box 151, Buchanan Dam, Tx. 78609.

Publisher's Note: This publication receives no financial support through advertising.  Although shaken down, looted, and abused by corrupt government, area businesses remain unwilling to stand up.  Locals are too gutless to donate financially, cowardly fearing retribution.  For this publication to survive, national readers need to contribute.  Liberty In Peril is, has been, and will always remain beholden to NO ONE. -- Precisely why there is no financial assistance.  ... From day of launch and certainly a no-brainer to this very day, firmly resolved to walk away first rather than compromise principle. -- To the chagrin of many and delight of few.    T.C. (5-7-13).

For new readers:  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion. 'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

Common knowledge quite some time corporations conveniently write legislation for lawmakers, -- particularly on the federal level. Literally.  Same is true for state legislators.  What may not be quite as well-known, however, certainly not fully understood, is just how blatant.

Ever hear of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)?  This writer hadn't, -- until a few days ago.  This 501c(3) 'charitable' organization is dedicated to providing 'model' bills to state legislators across the country.  It reportedly meets three times annually.  Ideologically, it's bent is Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged "conservative."

Brings corporate lobbyists and legislators together.  To provide lawmakers with verbatim model bills they can introduce as legislation in state legislatures.  Not surprisingly, reportedly 98% of its funding comes from corporations and conservative foundations.  ... Who'd 'a 'thunk' it, no?

Reportedly, 1800 state legislators and 220 corporations belong to ALEC.  Corporations pay $2500 annually. Legislators, $50.  Model bills don't get passed on to legislators unless both parties agree.  Each has equal veto authority.

ALEC has promulgated keeping the minimum wage low, been in favor of school vouchers.  Surprised?  Ever wonder how Voter ID,  Stand Your Ground, and other nearly identical laws pass state legislatures across the country nearly simultaneously?  Now, you know.  This organization has been in existence some 40 years.  It's power is based on secrecy, business conducted behind closed doors.  Precisely, why the term "reportedly" has been repeatedly used in this report.

-- Secrecy so effective this group has remained off the radar four decades.  Precisely, why legislators couldn't care less what their average constituent thinks, wants, expects from their elected officials.  Why?  Clearly, they're already bought and paid for.

Coup de grace?  501c(3) status as a 'charitable' organization.  Claims it's entitled to this status since it does zero lobbying.  ... Yes, you correctly read the last sentence.  Further claims it only facilitates meetings between state legislators and corporate lobbyists.  ... Clear proof day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet in the convoluted world of the corporate management suite, their shills, sycophants.

Time Magazine has crowned Pope Francis Man of the Year.  The Pope is indeed a most remarkable man.  A Jesuit.  A member of the Society of Jesus.  A religious order within the Church considered to be highly intellectual.  Jesuit education is second to none, remarkably sophisticated, highly disciplined.

These men take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.  Have been considered the avant garde of the Church, -- much to the chagrin and irritation of those far more conservative.  Despite the above, those outside the church should never make the mistake of considering this religious order 'liberal.' Decidedly, they're not.  Just a bit more enlightened than their critics.

The Pope's behavior since taking office is not surprising.  A breath of fresh air not seen in the Church since Vatican II fifty years ago.  Be interesting to see how his papacy proceeds in coming years.  Already, clearly, amusingly rattled the cage of dead wood within the Church.

While their panties remain in a wad.  No need.  The Pope has not, likely will not, reverse long-standing church policy vis a vis contraception, abortion, gay marriage, etc..  Much to the chagrin of many in the Church who do not agree.  Still remains a breath of fresh air not seen since Pope John 23rd fifty years ago.

A better choice for Time's Man of the Year would have been Edward Snowden.  Then again, in Nazi America, no more than a fascist police-state, Time, as most of the rest of the country, has failed to fully understand the dire threat to liberty posed by NSA warrantless domestic spying.

Reportedly, there are 630 Catholic hospitals in our country.  All have their shorts in a wad over Obamacare stipulations they must offer coverage to employees of contraceptive services.  Tough, isn't it?  Who is the Church to force its religious views on employees?

Worse, healthcare clients have been denied required services since some(services) do not meet religious standards imposed by Catholic bishops on providers.  Often a problem since another hospital may be hundreds of miles away. These providers simply don't understand practicing medicine is a privilege, not a right.

Some women have been put at risk since at least some Catholic hospitals will not allow doctors to induce labor until a miscarriage has become infected.  Physicians argue it can be too late, placing the woman's life in jeopardy.  DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) orders have been routinely ignored in some of these hospitals.

Furthermore, woman have been denied the right to be informed of abortion options by physicians in these hospitals by the bishops' mandate to give only "morally legitimate advice."  Reportedly, 52% of Ob/Gyns in Catholic hospitals cite conflicts, complaining they can't offer all treatments required by clients.

Clearly, the Church is practicing medicine without a license.  This has to change.  Otherwise, accreditation should be removed.  Then again, with 630 Catholic hospitals, this would clearly put additional pressure on a hopelessly greedy, patronizing system already overburdened.
