This publication has been in suspension since March 2003 for reasons explained on the Home Page.  Much has happened in the United States, as well as the rest of the world, since the last edition.  ... Sadly, most of it disturbing.  Much of it achingly heartbreaking.

Publisher's Note: This publication receives no financial support through advertising.  Although shaken down, looted, and abused by corrupt government, area businesses remain unwilling to stand up.  Locals are too gutless to donate financially, cowardly fearing retribution.  For this publication to survive, national readers need to contribute.  Liberty In Peril is, has been, and will always remain beholden to NO ONE. -- Precisely why there is no financial assistance.  ... From day of launch and certainly a no-brainer to this very day, firmly resolved to walk away first rather than compromise principle. -- To the chagrin of many and delight of few.    T.C. (5-7-13).

For new readers:  Fascism, nazism, national socialism defined as the pernicious blend of government, business, and religion. 'Justified' by perversion and bastardization of the latter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once more, in interest of alacrity, extremely limited time currently, this, an abridged version of the usual Newsletter Text.  No bells and whistles:

Publisher's Note:  Shortly after posting the last Newsletter, a friend quizzically asked what I was trying to accomplish in this publication.  Certainly, not the first.  Likely, not the last.  Always thought it obvious: first, aggressively expose corruption and abuse to the light of day; second, more importantly, aggressively expose the rise of fascism, nazism, national socialism in all its 'glory.'  This publication is intentionally designed to offend.  To effect desperately-needed change.

While it is also quite obvious outrageous offenders in law enforcement and government always remain premier targets, it's apparently not so clear you, too, dear readers, are fair game.  Why? Simple. Because at least some of you have foolishly enabled these bastards to egregiously f--k not only yourselves, but the rest of us.

If, indeed, you are not guilty of the above, then this is not directed at you, and, -- you should not be offended.  Conversely, if the opposite is true, then you are the problem and offense is intended.  Time to wake up.  Stand up for yourselves.  ... No personal offense, however, is intended, -- other than to the bastards who falsely believe they run and own, not only this hellhole County, but the state and country as well.  -- Most of you, dear readers, this writer does not even personally know.

It's those of you who have enabled these bastards intentionally or inadvertently who remain the problem.  How?  Through unbridled fear, aching indifference, most importantly, aggressive stupidity. Forget? You are the governmentNot the bastards who falsely believe they run and own us.  The Founders, indeed, quite clear.  No more complicated than that.  Not rocket science.

Offended?  Hope so.  Have I lost you as a reader?  Certainly, hope not.  ... If I have, this publication is clearly not for you.  -- Read the fluff in the other local rags.  Forget?  This is not easy reading.  Never will be.  Never promised it to be.  Often, it's offensive even to this writer.  ... How many times have I asked: did I write that?  Couldn't be, could it?  What an idiot, no? Political correctness?  What's that? Clearly, not in this writer's vocabulary.   TC  5-30-13

On May 23, President Obama addressed students at National Defense University regarding desperately needed changes in national defense strategies and tactics vis a vis the 'global war on terror.'  Uncharacteristically, the President sounded unsure of himself, conflicted.  ... Not only regarding his predecessor's approach, but continuation of most of ole' George"The Tush" Bush policy and tactics over the last four years of his (Obama's) presidency.

Having read the transcript (courtesy of The Washington Post,) it only confirms Obama's struggle to come to terms with policies desperately in need of revamp.  Intense scrutiny.  Certainly, a second close look.  The question may be asked what took him so long?  How many of our best and brightest have unnecessarily died, been maimed?  How many innocent civilians?  To say nothing of far more lost on the other side.

Early in the speech, the President opined:

"Matters of war and peace are no different. Americans are deeply ambivalent about war, but having fought for our independence, we know a price must be paid for freedom. From the Civil War to our struggle against fascism, on through the long twilight struggle of the Cold War, battlefields have changed, and technology has evolved, but our commitment to constitutional principles has weathered every war, and every war has come to an end.

"And with the collapse of the Berlin Wall, a new dawn of democracy took hold abroad and a decade of peace and prosperity arrived here at home.

"And for a moment it seemed the 21st century would be a tranquil time. And then on September 11th, 2001, we were shaken out of complacency. Thousands were taken from us as clouds of fire and metal and ash descended upon a sun-filled morning."

Clearly, Mr. President, "our commitment to constitutional principles has"  not  "weathered every war." Torture and abuse of prisoners remain a problem, -- at Gitmo and elsewhere.  While credit must be given to you for articulating a change in such policy, in reality, little to nothing has truly changed. Precisely, why our formerly great country remains so hated and despised throughout much of the world.  Exactly, why our policies, sadly, serve as such proficient recruitment incentive to the terrorist element.  Tragically, both here and abroad.

Sadly, the President is re-writing history, certainly perception of it. During the supposed period of good times after collapse of communism, terror continued throughout the world.  Including, here. Has Mr. Obama fogotten the earlier attack on the World Trade Center?  The bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma by a domestic terrorist and his henchmen?  The murder of all those kids in 1999 by fellow delusional students no more than homegrown terrorists?

Gallingly, the jackass currently occupying the Oval Office conveniently ignored the fact in his speech that not one head rolled in the State Department, no one was prosecuted for negligence, dereliction of duty for not conducting full background checks before allowing the 9/11 hijackers into the country. Instead, the 535 princes and princesses in Congress cowardly, falsely eviscerated all civil and constitutional rights and liberties in the name of "national 'security.'"

-- Not only were we royally f--ked by the terrorists, but the leadership of our formerly great country, as well.  Ole' Bush "The Tush" eagerly signed all this legislation into law.  To consolidate Executive power, establish a fascist police-state beholden to his corporate masters.  Not 'protect' the American people as falsely claimed by the nazi bastard and his henchmen.  Wake up, friends.  You were hoodwinked.  F--ked over by the 'leadership' of this formerly truly great nation.

These policies with, again, little modification were continued by Obama and his henchmen.  Still are. The chickens are finally coming home to roost, however.  Precisely, why the President sounded so politically vulnerable during this speech.  Readers are reminded early in his first term he chose to not investigate and charge members of the Bush Regime for excesses of power, torture, abuse, war crimes, etc..  To say nothing of his corporate masters directly responsible for the financial depression we're currently living in.  They, too, have received a free pass.

Why?  Simple.  He didn't want the favor returned when he finally left office.  Same old, same old. Unadulterated bullsh-t.  Nothing ever changes.  Ever.  Again, why?  Because we're stupid.  We cowardly tolerate it. Return these outrageously corrupt and abusive bastards to office.  Over and over and over again. Then, inexplicably, we incredulously wonder why we're so royally f--ked by these bastards, -- over and over and over again.  Time to wake up, friends.  Now.  Before too late. Before the country is totally gone.

The President underestimates the consequences of full nazification of our country after 9/11:

"Meanwhile, we strengthened our defenses, hardening targets, tightening transportation security, giving law enforcement new tools to prevent terror. Most of these changes were sound. Some caused inconvenience. But some, like expanded surveillance, raised difficult questions about the balance that we strike between our interests in security and our values of privacy. And in some cases, I believe we compromised our basic values -- by using torture to interrogate our enemies, and detaining individuals in a way that ran counter to the rule of law."

Obama has sugarcoated the damage.  Minimalized the loss of all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.  Ignored creation of a fascist police-state.  Militarization of every law enforcement agency in our formerly great country.  The President just doesn't 'get it.'  ... But a careful observer can see the fear betrayed by the President's carefully considered, disingenuously measured words, commentary, and analysis.  He knows there is massive distrust, serious opposition to government and its policies. Worse, the opposition is universal.  Across the political spectrum.  Hypocritically, bemoans torture and abuse, but cowardly neglects to bring the offenders to justice.  Talks out both sides his ass.  Empty, hollow rhetoric.  Abject, bullsh-t.

"So after I took office, we stepped up the war against al-Qaida, but we also sought to change its course.

"We relentlessly targeted al-Qaida’s leadership. We ended the war in Iraq and brought nearly 150,000 troops home. We pursued a new strategy in Afghanistan and increased our training of Afghan forces. We unequivocally banned torture, affirmed our commitment to civilian courts, worked to align our policies with the rule of law and expanded our consultations with Congress.

"Today Osama bin Laden is dead, and so are most of his top lieutenants. There have been no large-scale attacks on the United States, and our homeland is more secure. Fewer of our troops are in harm’s way, and over the next 19 months they will continue to come home. Our alliances are strong, and so is our standing in the world. In sum, we are safer because of our efforts."

The President lied.  Falsely, claims to have "affirmed our commitment to civilian courts."  He has not. Intends to try Gitmo prisoners at kangaroo military tribunals.  Reminiscent of how German Nazi saboteurs were treated during the Second World War.  An ugly blight, as was outrageously cowardly internment of Japanese-American citizens shortly after Pearl Harbor.

Despite no resistance, bin Laden was summarily executed by Navy SEALS.  We still haven't gotten the true story.  Accounts have been repeatedly changed.  The old soft shoe.  Yet, the people have not demanded a complete account of what happened and why.  Particularly, why bin Laden wasn't taken alive, transported back to New York for trial.  Despite ferocious cowardly opposition by Republican fascists, and even the people of New York City.  Land of the free?  Home of the brave?  No longer.  Not in Nazi America.  Land of the enslaved.  Home of the cowardly.  We, the people, have lost our country. Stupidly forfeited it to our corporate masters and their lackeys in government.

Clearly, the President is delusional, -- or doesn't live in the same reality as the rest of us. Remarkably, apparently does not believe force-feeding of Gitmo prisoners is torture.  Our standing in the world has deteriorated.  ... Think the Pakistanis appreciate the U.S. for killing so many innocent civilians courtesy of drones?  Despite how disingenuously the President and his henchmen so desperately try to spin the issue?  Think it hasn't served as a useful recruitment tool for al Qaeda and other terrorist groups?  Safer?  How are we safer, Mr. President?

More importantly, at what cost? Unwilling forfeiture of nearly all civil and constitutional rights and liberties?  A raucous, goosestepping, bootclicking, treasonous, traitorous Sieg Heil!?  Your oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution?  How?  By falsely trading liberty for ersatz 'security?' Franklin wisely opined well over two centuries ago anyone willing to trade liberty for security deserves and winds up with neither.  He's right.  It's happened.  Nazi America.  A fascist police-state.

Without question, you, your henchmen, your predecessor, his henchmen, the Congress, and courts have egregiously defecated on all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.  Cowardly, perniciously, disgracefully abrogated your oaths of office.  No longer serve the best interests of the people who entrusted you with office.  You've egregiously betrayed them.

The President went on to state:

"And these questions matter to every American. For over the last decade, our nation has spent well over a trillion dollars on war, helping to explode our deficits and constraining our ability to nation-build here at home. Our service members and their families have sacrificed far more on our behalf.

"Nearly 7,000 Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice. Many more have left a part of themselves on the battlefield or brought the shadows of battle back home. From our use of drones to the detention of terrorist suspects, the decisions we are making will define the type of nation and world that we leave to our children."

The President neglects to mention the fact this trillion dollars was used to enrich corporate war profiteers, went well beyond responding to the 9/11 attacks.  Fails to mention the origin of modern day terror.  The Israeli aggressor, granted carte blanche by the United States, Europe, and the United Nations.  Since 1948.  Legitimized theft of Palestinian land by Haulocaust survivors.  Land that was lost through excesses far earlier.  Uses the Bible to justify this theft.  ... This coming from a former strong supporter of the Israelis after the 1967 and 1973 wars.  -- After learning far more of the history of the region.  This, the true reason for modern day terrorism the President, his Administration, the Republicans, and others prefer to ignore.

Certainly, inadvertently exemplified by the President's words:

"So America is at a crossroads. We must define the nature and scope of this struggle, or else it will define us. We have to be mindful of James Madison’s warning that no nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. Neither I nor any president can promise the total defeat of terror. We will never erase the evil that lies in the hearts of some human beings nor stamp out every danger to our open society. But what we can do, what we must do, is dismantle networks that pose a direct danger to us and make it less likely for new groups to gain a foothold, all the while maintaining the freedoms and ideals that we defend. And to define that strategy, we must make decisions based not on fear but on hard- earned wisdom. And that begins with understanding the current threat that we face."

The President clearly is delusional.  Gallingly, talks out both sides the ass.  As his predecessor, shamelessly sh-ts on civil and constitutional rights and liberties while falsely claiming we still enjoy them.  A perverse Catch-22 world.  1984 personified.  Reality massaged.  For crass political purposes. The President lies.  So do his henchman.  So does Congress.  So do the courts.  Yet, we cowardly tolerate the loss of our formerly great country, all civil and constitutional rights and liberties.  To our corporate masters who run and own their lackeys in government.

Further proof the President remains clueless?  Consider his following words:

"Moreover, we have to recognize that these threats don’t arise in a vacuum. Most, though not all, of the terrorism we face is fueled by a common ideology, a belief by some extremists that Islam is in conflict with the United States and the West and that violence against Western targets, including civilians, is justified in pursuit of a larger cause. Of course, this ideology is based on a lie, for the United States is not at war with Islam. And this ideology is rejected by the vast majority of Muslims -- who are the most frequent victims of terrorist attacks. Nevertheless, this ideology persists."

He can't understand American policy vis a vis the Israeli aggressor is what created and fuels modern day terrorism.  Consequently, expect no end to terrorism and the tragedy of so many senseless deaths.  He's also conveniently neglected to mention the fact the Israeli aggressor developed and implemented modern day terrorist tactics so effectively used against them, us, and many others, today.

The President claims:

"Beyond the Afghan theater, we only target al-Qaida and its associated forces, and even then the use of drones is heavily constrained. America does not take strikes when we have the ability to capture individual terrorists. Our preference is always to detain, interrogate and prosecute them. America cannot take strikes wherever we choose. Our actions are bound by consultations with partners and respect for state sovereignty. America does not take strikes to punish individuals. We act against terrorists who pose a continuing and imminent threat to the American people and when there are no other governments capable of effectively addressing the threat. And before any strike is taken, there must be near certainty that no civilians will be killed or injured, the highest standard we can set."

The President lied.  We summarily executed bin Laden, despite the fact he could have been held for trial.  Executed many, many others by drone strike, including Americans.  Others, killed during torture.  Yet, no one held accountable.  No one.  Clearly, not possible in Nazi America.  To repeat:

"And before any strike is taken, there must be near certainty that no civilians will be killed or injured, the highest standard we can set."

Again, the President is a liar.  Reports from Pakistan and elsewhere prove this is untrue.  Mr. President, do you truly think anyone other than your sick sycophants truly believes this?  The President cries crocodile tears:

"Now, this last point is critical because much of the criticism about drone strikes, both here at home and abroad, understandably centers on reports of civilian casualties. There’s a wide gap between U.S. assessments of such casualties and nongovernmental reports. Nevertheless, it is a hard fact that U.S. strikes have resulted in civilian casualties, a risk that exists in every war.

"And for the families of those civilians, no words or legal construct can justify their loss. For me and those in my chain of command, those deaths will haunt us as long as we live, just as we are haunted by the civilian casualties that have occurred throughout conventional fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"But as commander in chief, I must weigh these heartbreaking tragedies against the alternatives. To do nothing in the face of terrorist networks would invite far more civilian casualties, not just in our cities at home and our facilities abroad, but also in the very places, like Sanaa and Kabul and Mogadishu, where terrorists seek a foothold.

"Remember that the terrorists we are after target civilians, and the death toll from their acts of terrorism against Muslims dwarfs any estimate of civilian casualties from drone strikes.

"So doing nothing’s not an option."

Amazing how Mr. Obama rationalizes, minimalizes American use and abuse of force.  It's overkill. What are we still doing in Afghanistan?  Why are we still waging war in Pakistan, throughout the Middle East, and elsewhere in the world?  By his own admission, the military can't solve this problem, neither short-term or permanently.  It's time to move on, Mr. President.  Change policy.  Not truly possible, however, for the President and his henchmen:

"Yes, the conflict with al-Qaida, like all armed conflict, invites tragedy. But by narrowly targeting our action against those who want to kill us, and not the people they hide among, we are choosing the course of action least likely to result in the loss of innocent life."

The President, again, is delusional.  Or, lying.  You're killing the people they hide behind, Mr. President.  Wake up.  You're lying to the American public.  You have no credibility.  This policy has backfired, and continues to backfire.  Time to wake up and smell the coffee.  Yet, the President still doesn't get it:

"Now, thwarting homegrown plots presents particular challenges in part because of our proud commitment to civil liberties for all who call America home. That’s why in the years to come, we will have to keep working hard to strike the appropriate balance between our need for security and preserving those freedoms that make us who we are. That means reviewing the authorities of law enforcement so we can intercept new types of communication, but also build in privacy protections to prevent abuse."

Again, the President is talking out both sides the ass.  Promises civil and constitutional rights and liberties while eviscerating them.  No credibility.  None at all.  Coup de grace?  Consider the following abject bullsh-t:

"That means that even after Boston, we do not deport someone or throw somebody in prison in the absence of evidence."

Yes, we do.  All over the country.  Every day of the year.  Certainly, here in Llano County.  Law enforcement, for the most part, does as it pleases.  Always has, most likely always will.  Until the people put an end to it.  The President disingenuously went on to opine:

"You know, the Justice Department’s investigation of national security leaks offers a recent example of the challenges involved in striking the right balance between our security and our open society. As commander in chief, I believe we must keep information secret that protects our operations and our people in the field. To do so, we must enforce consequences for those who break the law and breach their commitment to protect classified information. But a free press is also essential for our democracy. That’s who we are. And I’m troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable.

"Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs. Our focus must be on those who break the law. That’s why I have called on Congress to pass a media shield law to guard against government overreach. And I’ve raised these issues with the attorney general, who shares my concern. So he’s agreed to review existing Department of Justice guidelines governing investigations that involve reporters, and he’ll convene a group of media organizations to hear their concerns as part of that review. And I’ve directed the attorney general to report back to me by July 12th."

Again, the President is covering his ass and that of his henchmen.  Sadly, at least 99% of leaks are no more than an embarrassment to our corrupt and abusive government and the lackeys who run it.  As well as their corporate masters.  Are no true threat to national security.  Bradley Manning is a hero. Should be awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for shining the intense light of day on our outrageously corrupt, abusive, and conniving government.

Shield law?  Why should a right already guarantied by the First Amendment have to be codified in statute?  Why isn't government, including all three branches and all levels of government, already enforcing the First Amendment?  After all, the bastards raised their right hand and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.

At time of publication, many in the media are refusing to attend the DOJ meeting to be thrown by the U.S. Attorney General regarding shield law protections and DOJ handling of investigations of reporters.  Why?  Seems our outrageously fascist Department of 'Justice' wants the meeting to be held closed-door with no media disclosure of what was to be discussed.  Sounds like Nazi Germany, doesn't it?  The Attorney General also will not allow any media attorneys to attend.  Why?  Does the bastard already know the 'Justice' Department policy vis a vis the media is outrageously unconstitutional?  Any news organization which attends under such conditions should, and cannot be trusted.

The bullsh-t, indeed, never ends:

"Now, all these issues remind us that the choices we make about war can impact, in sometimes unintended ways, the openness and freedom on which our way of life depends. And that is why I intend to engage Congress about the existing Authorization to Use Military Force, or AUMF, to determine how we can continue to fight terrorism without keeping America on a perpetual wartime footing.

"The AUMF is now nearly twelve years old. The Afghan War is coming to an end. Core al-Qaida is a shell of its former self. Groups like AQAP must be dealt with, but in the years to come, not every collection of thugs that labels themselves al-Qaida will pose a credible threat to the United States. Unless we discipline our thinking, our definitions, our actions, we may be drawn into more wars we don’t need to fight or continue to grant presidents unbound powers more suited for traditional armed conflicts between nation states.

"So I look forward to engaging Congress and the American people in efforts to refine and ultimately repeal the AUMF’s mandate. And I will not sign laws designed to expand this mandate further. Our systematic effort to dismantle terrorist organizations must continue. But this war, like all wars, must end. That’s what history advises. It’s what our democracy demands."

The Authorization to Use Military Force is an outrageous run-around the constitutional requirement for Congress to declare war.  It's been abused by two presidents to establish and implement a fascist police-state.  Consolidate power.  Apparently, Mr. Obama is beginning to realize just how dangerous this has become, fears the possible consequences.  Including an unwanted, dreaded second American revolution.  Catastrophically, already looming on the horizon.

Congressional failure to declare war dating back to the Korean conflict is appalling.  Certainly, enabled its corporate masters to engage in relentless war profiteering the last 63 years.  At expense of taxpayers and the blood of our best and brightest.  Not only a blight, but abject treason in the Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged world we currently find ourselves in.

The most poignant part of the speech was a truly heroic woman who had the audacity to challenge the President of the United States.  To his credit, Mr. Obama at least partially engaged her.  While it was far longer and mostly unintelligible, the following small portion of the transcript from The Washington Post is quite enlightening:

"AUDIENCE MEMBER: Can you tell us why Abdulrahman al-Awlaki was killed? Can you tell the Muslim people their lives are as precious as our lives? Can you take the drones out of the hands of the CIA? Can you stop the signature strikes that are killing people on the basis of suspicious activities?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: We’re addressing that, ma’am.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: (Inaudible) -- apologize to the thousands of Muslims that you have killed? Will you compensate the innocent family victims? That will make us safer here at home.

I love my country! I love the rule of law! The drones are making us less safe.

And keeping people in indefinite detention in Guantanamo is making us less safe. Abide by the rule of law -- (inaudible) --

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know, I think that the -- and I’m going off script, as you might expect, here. (Laughter, applause.) The -- the voice of that woman is worth paying attention to. (Applause.) Obviously -- obviously I do not agree with much of what she said, and obviously she wasn’t listening to me in much of what I said."

She had the President on his heels.  Amusingly, he sounded like the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz.  Doing the ole soft shoe.  Mr. President, she has a point.  Time for you to be accountable to the public you allegedly serve.  Time for American policy to finally change in the Middle East and elsewhere.  Time for the country we love to abide by international law and the Geneva Conventions.  Time to end war-profiteering and abuse of our military personnel for crass corporate purposes.  To say nothing of ongoing rampant sexual assault in the armed services.  The true purpose of the military is physical defense of our nation, not war profiteering and execution of political will by the bastard occupying the Oval Office.
