Iraq Deteriorating February 4, 2006
In the three weeks since the last edition, the situation in Iraq has markedly deteriorated. Ludicrously, Gen. Casey stated 21,500 surge troops may come home by August. How does he know? Most of them haven't even arrived yet.
Gen. Patraeus has been confirmed by the Senate and promoted to be our new commander in Iraq. This, despite the fact the Senate is opposed to the troop surge, -- the architect of the surge, Patraeus himself.
Amusingly,
the Senate Foreign
Relations Committee has approved a toothless resolution opposing the
surge,
passing it on to the full Senate. Yet, they remain unwilling
to cut
funds.
--
For political reasons
having absolutely nothing to do with the safety and welfare of our
forces.
Four of five U.S. soldiers killed in a brazen attack in Karbala were kidnapped and executed by insurgents believed to be members of Iraqi police and security forces. The "Administration" is alleging Iranians were responsible for planning the attack. -- The attack so sophisticated and well-executed it had to be the Iranians according to Bush henchmen.
Thousands of Iraqis were killed in attacks the last few weeks including 200 believed to be members of an Iraqi cult named "Soldiers of Heaven." "President" Bush praised Iraqi police and security forces for responding.
... Despite the fact the 200 cult members were killed by American air attacks, -- and the fact these very same "security" forces were likely involved in the murder of five U.S. soldiers a few days earlier. ... American military personnel embedded with them they were supposed to protect.
Admiral William Fallon has been confirmed as Commander of Central Command. -- Directly responsible for military action in Iraq (Patraeus' commander) and likely future military action against Iran. After all, a second carrier task force has been moved to the area.
Apparently, the "President" is anticipating launching a naval air attack against Iranian targets. Who better to implement such an attack than a Navy commander? The Senate is so concerned it warned Mr. Bush he does not have authority to do so.
Ludicrously, Fallon was confirmed by the Senate despite the fact he informed the Committee he was not familiar with the "President's" troop surge, and therefore had no position yet on its veracity. ... Would indeed be laughable if not so damned tragic, no?
The "President" and his henchmen are cunningly ratcheting up public pressure on Iran, demonizing the Iranians. -- Remarkably similar to "Administration" propaganda activity prior to the invasion of Iraq in 2003 under false pretenses.
Amusingly, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates continues to maintain the insurgency in Iraq is not a civil war. -- Hey, Bobby? The dictionary definition of "civil war" is as follows: "a war between parties, regimes, etc., within their own country." ... If it walks like a duck ...
Four
U.S. helicopters have been
shot down by the enemy in Iraq over the last two weeks. Just
yesterday,
a truck bomber in Iraq killed over 130 and wounded more than
300.
Sadly, reportedly the worst attack in the last four years.
Bombings
continued this morning. Yet, the "President" and his henchmen
remain
oblivious to reality, hopelessly deluded.
The
corporate world is truly suffering,
isn't it? After shamelessly looting the public with $3/gal.
gas,
ExxonMobil announced record corporate 2006 profits of $39.5
billion.
...'Ain't' legal theft grand?
Approximately
half of some 300
scientists working on a soon to be released climate change report
claimed
they had been pressured by government officials to downplay
results.
Fascinating, isn't it? Wouldn't want to inconvenience or cost
corporations
any money to clean up their act, would we? After all, the
bastards
will pass it on, right?
Apparently bowing to pressure from the Bush "Administration," the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated a conspiracy charge against Jose Padilla. Readers will recall Padilla is an American citizen arrested by federal goons in Chicago as an "enemy combatant," -- and held without access to the courts and legal counsel for several years.
The
conspiracy charge was the
most serious leveled against him after the courts forced the government
to finally give him his day in court. Interestingly, he has
not been
charged with being a nuclear "dirty bomber," as originally claimed by
former
U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.
In
a State of Union speech remarkably
devoid of substance, "President" Bush declared "Our cause in the world
is just and right." -- Would have been laughable if not so
frighteningly
dangerous and a direct threat to world peace and security.
Clearly,
the "President" is deluded, haughtily believing himself to be divinely
inspired.
Bowing to political pressure, the Bush "Administration" has announced it will seek FISA court approval for National Security Agency domestic spying. Problem? The FISA court is a secret court, no more than a rubber stamp.
In
place since the 1978 FISA Act,
FISA is no more than an Executive Branch kangaroo court based in a
secure
windowless "Justice" Department office. It has no separation
from
law enforcement and federal prosecutors. Sadly, it remains
beholden
to them. Has a history of granting nearly all
government requests
for wiretaps.
That's
right. "Vice-President"
"Slick Dick" Cheney confirmed the CIA and Pentagon are using "National
Security Letters" to access financial data of American citizens without
a warrant. In the name of "national security," of
course. Fascinating,
isn't it?
The
following is a series of unedited
email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and
this
writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year
ago.
To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been
received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint
filed.
Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues,
-- or is wildly incompetent. You decide. ACLU-Criminal
