"President" Remains Clueless On Iraq November 18, 2006
The Republican Party lost control of both houses of Congress due to Iraq. Sadly, the vote was not an expression of far greater long-term issues such as the egregious loss of civil and constitutional rights and liberties, -- falsely in the name of "national 'security.'"
Ironically, Mr. Bush does not "get it." Clearly, abjectly clueless. Still intends to remain indefinitely in Iraq regardless of the vote. "Stay the course." ... Reality has always been elusive and a problem for the deluded "Commander In Chief" occupying the Oval Office.
The Democratic Party continues to be divided on the future of Iraq. -- So much so, Murtha was defeated in his bid for the post of Majority Leader. While the former Marine officer badly lost the secret ballot, apparently fellow legislators were more concerned with questionable statements made by him on secret FBI video tapes at the time of the Abscam sting back in the early 80's.
Stings are no more than entrapment, -- despite court rulings to the contrary. "Criminals" are enticed to commit "crimes" by government goons and then prosecuted when they take the bait. Those that do not and are not prosecuted often have their reputations permanently sullied as happened in the case of John Murtha.
Murtha has remained a serious problem for the Bush "Administration" and other supporters of the Iraq fiasco, however. So much so, incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted him as Majority Leader. Not to be.
Will certainly be interesting to see whether or not Democrats finally get their act together and confront the "President" on troop withdrawal. To do so, there would have to be party unity. If not, the loss of life and treasure will continue unabated.
The war is lost. Never could be won for a variety of reasons. Regardless, no war launched under false pretenses can ever be "won." At the very least, deception destroys the moral high ground. At worst, it turns the world against the aggressor.
Should Mr. Bush remain intransigent, time to quickly cut off all funding. Appropriations must initiate in the House. If Democrats block Iraq funds, the "President" would have to withdraw. In a timely fashion. If not, it would enable impeachment efforts in the House.
Mr.
Bush must not receive a free
ride by Democrats. He and his "Administration" should be
thoroughly
investigated. The abuse of power and abrogation of civil and
constitutional
rights and liberties remain unparalleled in American history.

To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been
received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint
filed.
Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues,
