Bush Demands New Powers September 15, 2006
As Iraq descends into full-blown civil war, the American military is ceding the "Alabar" province to insurgents. The situation in Afghanistan is seriously deteriorating as well, with casualties increasing and the Taliban resurgent.
Apparently, "President" Bush is not responding well to pressure. The fascist occupying the Oval Office wants new, increased presidential powers. He urged Congress to pass legislation essentially abrogating the Geneva Conventions in regard to "interrogation" of "detainees."
Although
"Administration" attorneys
have redefined torture to allow CIA and military goons to do as they
please,
Mr. Bush is seriously concerned they may be charged with war
crimes.
Precisely, why he wants legislation supporting "rough treatment" of
prisoner
"detainees."
...
And immunity for their tormentors.
Clearly, the Nazi in the White House couldn't care less American forces will be similarly treated when captured should the United States renege on the Geneva Conventions. Exactly, why retired military officers, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell, have come out strongly against pending legislation that would essentially "legalize" torture and abuse of prisoners.
Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee rebuffed the "President," refusing to support the legislation. They and Democrats fully understand the consequences to American military personnel should they be captured. The "President" clearly does not, -- or doesn't care.
He falsely claims abuse of "detainees" has led to prevention of terrorist attacks. Trained interrogators rightly counter little to no useful information is obtained through torture and abuse of prisoners. Torture victims tell "interrogators" what they want to hear, seldom the truth.
The "President's" insistence on the abuse of prisoners to extract information is undercutting the moral authority of the United States in the "War On Terror." An increasing number of Republicans are beginning to understand this.
Precisely, why the Senate Armed Forces Committee has rebuffed the "President's" plan, not only on "interrogation" of "detainees," but putting them on trial at military tribunals. They rightfully object to three provisions. First, the proposed protection and immunity of "interrogators" against war crimes prosecution. Second, the fact "detainees" will be denied access to "evidence" used against them. Third, the proposed use of "testimony" extracted from torture victims.
The
fact the "President" is seeking
such grossly unconstitutional powers is proof he is consolidating power
and seeking new powers befitting of a Nazi fuhrer.
Not
an American President. Mr. Bush and his henchmen counter such
provisions
are "necessary" and "work" in preventing future terrorist
attacks.
The "President" is deluded and a liar. Has disgraced himself
and
our formerly great country. The Founders must be spinning in
their
graves.
Last
week, the Food & Drug
Administration (FDA) fined the American Red Cross $4.2 million for not
following proper procedures in complying with blood safety
laws.

The
following is a series of unedited
email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and
this

ago.
To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been
received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint
filed.
Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues,
-- or is wildly incompetent. You decide. ACLU-Criminal
