PATH Tunnel "Plot" Broken Up July 7, 2006
Federal goons allegedly broke up an al Qaeda "plot" to bomb the PATH train tunnels connecting New York to New Jersey. The level of "threat" is indeed in question among terrorism experts, however. The "plot" was not operational, only "talk."
FBI thugs "surveilled" terrorist websites and supposedly "uncovered" the plan to bomb the tunnels. -- Amusingly, "talk" and BS have been conveniently redefined and are now considered "action" and "conspiracy" by "Administration" officials. Interesting, isn't it?
Eight individuals are reportedly involved. Three have been arrested, with five still at large. Apparently, the "mastermind" is a man named Hammoud who was arrested in Beirut. Supposedly, he "confessed" to the "plot" as well as to being a member of al Qaeda. ... Must have beaten or tortured the crap out of him to get the "admission," no?
Then again, in the convoluted world of the Right Wing fascist, day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet. Anything is "justified." The ends justify the means. What we have here, more importantly, is another classic example of the boy crying wolf. Sadly, there will come a time when there is a bona fide plot and no one will believe it.
As reported earlier in this publication, federal officials publicly slap each other on the back after an arrest is made. Nearly all these cases, though, are drastically plea-bargained down or dismissed. Of 261 convictions since the 9/11 catastrophe, the average sentence obtained by federal goons is one year. That's right. One year.
Apparently, the Bush "Administration" is overselling the abilities of al Qaeda to attack. -- To divert attention from those responsible in the State Department who issued visas to the 19 hijackers responsible for 9/11.
Had the bastards at State and elsewhere in government properly done their jobs before the 9/11 catastrophe, it likely could, and would, have been prevented. No one has been held accountable. The "President" and his henchmen have deliberately covered the asses of those responsible. Political expediency.
Instead,
they cowardly "prosecuted"
Zacharias Moussaoui for a crime he did not commit. ... An
insanely
ill man, indeed shunned by al Qaeda for damn good
reason. Nazi
America. Where day is night, night is day, and
everything is
convolutedly ass backwards. To serve the best interests of
the fascist
occupying the Oval Office.
Clearly, the "President" is singing a far different tune these days. Not only regarding Iran, but North Korea as well. Mr. Bush was quick to go to war in Iraq under false pretenses three years ago. Ignored weapons inspectors who repeatedly informed him there were no weapons of mass destruction.
Getting his ass severely kicked in Iraq, and now in Afghanistan after years of effort, has apparently sobered up ole' George "The Tush" a bit and partially returned him to reality and planet Earth. The military is critically overextended and cannot maintain current operations indefinitely.
No question, the fascist occupying the Oval Office is reluctant to go to war in North Korea or Iran. Neither would be a cake walk. Far worse than Afghanistan and Iraq. Apparently, Mr. Bush is a bit more mindful of the fact the military cannot effectively solve political problems.
It is extremely good at killing and destroying property. Nation building is an entirely different matter. Particularly, when the war is not over, hostilities have not ended, and the willingness to fight far from gone from the enemy.
Saddest of all is the fact we created the monsters in the Middle East and North Korea. Particularly the Middle East. After all, the United States has never adopted an even-handed approach vis a vis the Israeli-Palestinian fiasco.
Worse, we continue to garrison American troops in Muslim countries, -- highly offensive to Moslems. In addition, we mindlessly support the House of Saud and its corrupt and abusive rulers. We continue to import Arab oil instead of becoming energy independent decades ago.
North Korea is a whole different animal. We foolishly went to war there in 1950. Stupidly, agreed to a cease-fire and state of siege that has continued for 53 years after hostilities ended. Insanely, did nothing when the Pueblo was seized in 1968 in international waters and our sailors abused and tortured.
Did nothing when the North Koreans hacked a U.S. military officer to death at a DMZ outpost years ago. Then, we wonder why they continue to rattle our cage and behave like idiots while their people are starving? When will we finally wake up?
Incredibly, the North Koreans converted the Pueblo into a living museum and propaganda instrument. ... Property belonging to the United States. An illegally-captured naval vessel that long ago should have been returned, -- or destroyed by the American military.
The North Koreans apparently have us over a barrel, however. With over 1 million troops poised close to the DMZ capable of quickly overrunning some 30,000 American forces garrisoned in the area, the U.S. is seemingly unable to do anything other than quickly respond with nuclear weapons should an attack ensue.
Yet, we've tolerated the intolerable for well over fifty years and have done nothing to resolve the issue. -- Other than foolishly leave our military in harm's way. Abject paralysis. Especially ironic, however, in the view of the clearly implied fact the North would be quickly incinerated should it invade the South and/or detonate one of its own weapons of mass destruction in anger.
Why haven't all American troops been withdrawn from South Korea decades ago? Why haven't we directly and unmistakenly informed the North they would be immediately incinerated should they invade the South or attack any of their neighbors including Japan? Instead of only cleverly and coyly implying it? Why the not-so-clever games? Games that have clearly not worked.
Why do we remain unwilling to sit down with the North Koreans on a one-to-one basis? What are we afraid of? Why not explicity inform them of the consequences should they launch an attack? Why not directly and candidly lay our cards on the table? Should they renege and attack, explictly inform them of decades-old implicit plans to turn their country into glass.
They're not stupid. They already know. Clearly, want something from the U.S., however. Find out exactly what it is and if indeed in our best interests to comply. If so, offer it in return for cancelling their nuclear weapons programs. With verifiable inspections and clearly stated catastrophic consequences should they renege. Immediately, walk out of talks when the BS starts.
Instead, we foolishly and arrogantly dictate to them what weapons systems they can and cannot have. Insist they comply with our wishes before we sit down to talk. Unless this seemingly impossible logjam is finally broken with a creative change of thinking and policy, the adolescent behavior of the North Korean dictator will continue. It's time for their "revered" "leader," as well as our own, to grow up and finally show some statesmanship.
Bush should boldly consider making a move similar to Nixon's shrewdly calculated thaw with China in 1972. Instead of going to Korea, however, invite the North Korean dictator to the United States. Should he make a fool of himself here, the world will clearly see for itself.
If
not, a golden opportunity for
Bush to redeem his "Presidency" and prove to a skeptical world he (the
"President") has some substance and stature as the leader of the free
world.
A failed trip here by the North Korean dictator would at the very least
demonstrate some courage on the part of the "President" and improve his
stature. Show the world he made the diplomatic effort in good
faith.
Regardless, the status quo is unacceptable and dangerous.
Time for
change.
After two weather delays and recurring problems with fuel tank foam, NASA finally managed to spectacularly launch the space shuttle Discovery on Independence Day. All indications are that the orbiter is undamaged and doing well.
In a fit of adolescent pique, North Korea fired off a series of missiles just after NASA successfully launched Discovery. All fell harmlessly in the Sea of Japan, including a long-range rocket thought capable of reaching the continental U.S.. ... Which failed miserably some 35 seconds into flight. The North Korean behavior, however, successfully launched a flurry of international diplomatic activity and renewed UN Security Council action.
Former
Enron CEO Ken Lay died
last night at the age of 64 of a massive heart attack. He was
recently
convicted of fraud and was awaiting sentencing. Now, all
those victimized
by Mr. Lay and his henchmen will forever be denied closure.
-- Shareholders
and former employees who lost their jobs and entire retirement savings
to unbridled greed and duplicity.
Clearly, American federal jurisdiction extends to the universe. Steven Green was recently discharged by the military for a "personality disorder." Now, in an apparently unrelated development, he will be prosecuted in the United States for raping a 15-year-old Iraqi girl, killing her, and three other family members. In Iraq. Why isn't he charged and tried there?
Already, Iraqi authorities are grumbling. With damn good reason. At the very least, they want to conduct an investigation. Again, the alleged crime occurred there, not here. Why is Mr. Green being prosecuted here? Is there no limit to federal jurisdiction?
Apparently, the military is unwilling or unable to recall him to active service so he can be court-martialed. Why? Regardless, the alleged crimes occurred within Iraqi jurisdiction. Precisely, why it is essential he be prosecuted in Iraq. Either at court martial, or in the Iraqi courts.
The long-term ramifications of expansion of federal authority to the ends of the universe are chilling. Sovereignty of other nations is at stake. Abuse of virtually unlimited power is another issue. While all criminals should indeed be prosecuted, they must be prosecuted in the court system of the sovereign power whose laws were broken.
There is another sinister long-term issue with expanded judicial federal authority. American citizens who leave the U.S. for healthcare, treatments, and medications that are not legal in the United States could conceivably be prosecuted.
Worse, the scope of prosecutions could be infinitely expanded and abused for other activities legal elsewhere but not here in Nazi America. Preventing American citizens from going overseas to engage in liberties no longer afforded domestically. Not the least of which would be abortion, -- should the Fascist Right ever successfully outlaw it here.
Already, the "Justice" Department has plans to send prosecutors to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia by January. With intellectual property crimes soaring, i.e. piracy of software, movies, music, etc., they will "coordinate" law enforcement there. Why?
How
do they have jurisdiction
in another sovereign country? -- We're not talking about
embassies
which are considered "American soil," but in foreign society
itself.
Society that already has its own government and court system.
What's
next? Control of foreign legislatures and other executive
authority?
Remember Elian Gonzalez? The six-year-old boy returned to Cuba by the Clinton Administration back in 2000? A considerable amount of time was dedicated on this website to the fiasco back then.
Elian was found on an inner tube. His mother had died desperately trying to get him to our formerly great country. His Cuban father wanted him returned. So did the Fascist Right in this country.
... And so he was by the cowardly President and his Attorney General, Janet Reno. He was seized at gunpoint some 5 months after the fiasco began by federal goons and presented to his father, who had flown here.
Fast forward six years. See the Sunday expose` on Sixty Minutes? Sadly, Castro manipulated the boy and used him for political purposes. His cowardly return to communist Cuba was, and is, a sad, sad day in American history. -- A day when parental rights came first, before freedom. In Nazi America.
