Two U.S. Soldiers Missing In Iraq June 17, 2006
One
American soldier was killed
and two are missing in Iraq after an attack Friday. Violence
increased
markedly over the last several days, with at least 36 Iraqis killed in
numerous attacks Saturday. This, despite an aggressive
crackdown
by Iraqi authorities after "President" Bush's departure earlier this
week.
Not
surprisingly, Rep. William
Jefferson, D-La finally got the boot from the Ways And Means Committee
by a resolution passed by the entire House. As reported
earlier in
this publication, Mr. Jefferson is the target of a federal sting
investigation
in which he reportedly accepted some $100,000 in bribes.
While he
has not yet been indicted, the House acted properly.
Jefferson will
regain his seat on the committee should there be no charges and the
investigation
dropped.
Earlier
this week, Congress conducted
hearings regarding $1.4 billion in FEMA Katrina fraud. Money
was
squandered on $200 bottles of wine at Hooters, repeated billings of
rent
assistance by the same perpetrators, luxury vacations, even
divorces.
It was clearly Christmas in September for thousands of Americans who
shamelessly
looted the agency.
The "President" signed a bill into law allowing $325,000 fines per offense for broadcasters who violate "decency" standards. This is no more than another blatant attack on the First Amendment and the right to free-expression.
When
will we start fining the
"President" for a true obscenity, -- his repeated deception of the
American
public regarding the fiasco in Iraq? Or his latest
unconstitutional
attack on the Fourth Amendment vis a vis warrantless domestic
spying?
Nazi America. Where day is night, night is
day, and manure
smells perversely sweet.
The American military believes Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also known as Abu al-Muhajir, has replaced slain Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as Iraq al Qaeda commander. Al-Masri means "the Egyptian." It is believed bin Laden and his top cronies were unhappy with Zarqawi's killing of innocent Iraqis. The change in leadership was facilitated by an al Qaeda operative through the betrayal of Zarqawi's location to American military authorities.
American commanders earlier confirmed this betrayal. They and the "Commander In Chief" occupying the White House, however, also believe Zarqawi's killing to be a victory over al Qaeda, -- despite the fact his removal was obviously planned and executed at the highest levels of al Qaeda.
With
phony propaganda coming from
both the enemy and our government, it is difficult to know precisely
what
the truth is. Clearly, however, al Qaeda
cleverly presented
the American military with a gift horse that commanders and the "Chief
Executive" were all too ready to take credit for, -- no matter the
truth
or reality.
2500 American military personnel have been killed in action in Iraq. Nearly 18,500 have been maimed. The "President" has conveniently and cowardly moved the goal posts to cover his ass. The new prime directive is a "sense of order," as reported below.
Both Houses of Congress falsely "debate" a "support of the troops" resolution, that includes no provision for amendments, thus deliberately stifling any real debate. Republicans have cunningly forced the issue to ensure the "President" is able to continue his failed policies in Iraq.
Admitting the invasion of Iraq was a colossal mistake would take courage the GOP apparently no longer has. Instead, they deliberately distort reality, falsely claiming any exit strategy tantamount to "cutting and running."
Consequently, additional Americans will be killed and maimed, supporting the "President's" corrupt and abusive ass. ... As civil and constitutional rights and liberties continue to be eviscerated as the fascist occupying the Oval Office consolidates power.
The "President" has foolishly created a terrorist haven in Iraq that did not exist prior to the American invasion. -- A terrorist training ground where extremists proficiently learn their craft, killing and maiming U.S. military personnel. Deliberately and deceptively, Mr. Bush still falsely links Iraq to the 9/11 catastrophe and the "War On Terror."
The killing fields of Iraq, i.e. the streets, are far more dangerous and deadly than during the barbaric regime of Saddam. A sectarian civil war has broken out that did not exist before the American invasion. Despite claims to the contrary by domestic Right Wing fascists, Iraq is far more violent and unstable than it was under the deposed dictator.
The "President" stubbornly and foolishly intends to continue sending our best and brightest to fight a war they cannot win. -- Never confuse a fascist with the truth, however. Consequently, the killing and maiming will remain unabated and likely increase. ... Until Congress cuts all funding as it eventually did during the Vietnam era. With Republicans securely in power and Democrats too cowardly to unite in principle against continued prosecution of the war, withdrawal will not happen anytime soon.
Worse,
the "President's" "War
On Terror" will ultimately fail because it does not address the root
causes
of terrorism. That is, unevenhanded American policy in the
Middle
East vis a vis the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, continued support of
the
corrupt and abusive House of Saud in Saudi Arabia, garrison of American
forces in Moslem countries, continued import of foreign oil, and the
failure
to become energy independent decades ago. Until these
policies are
changed and/or rectified, expect the "War On Terror" to ultimately fail.
In a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed itself and ruled it's constitutional for police not to knock before breaking down a door. Prior to this ruling, no-knock forced police entry was usually reserved for drug suspects, -- to prevent them from flushing evidence down the commode.
Now, it's okay for America's "finest" to batter down a door without knocking virtually any time they choose. Nazi America. Sadly, this will endanger police officers. Countless Americans, when faced with a house invasion, would be more than willing to shoot first, ask questions later. -- Whether, the invaders are common criminals or jack-booted government thugs.
Not surprisingly, newly-appointed "Justices" Alito and Roberts tipped the balance in this decision. Legal experts believe this ruling is a convenient end-run-around thrown out evidence of illegal searches for prosecutors. A blatant assault against the Bill of Rights and its protections. Jack-booted government goons will now have little to no incentive not to conduct illegal searches. As a result of this ruling, nearly anything goes. Again, Nazi America.
Both Alito and the Chief "Justice" have clearly demonstrated they have no regard for the Bill of Rights and the protections it used to afford. Sadly, this is a fascist court that nearly always tips the balance to government at the expense of civil and constitutional rights and liberties.
Working
definition of fascism
for new readers? An abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a
pernicious
blend of government, big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel
cynically
placed on the throat of the masses, justified in principle by
perversion
and bastardization of religion.
In
a stroke of apparent bravado
after Mr. Bush's visit, the Iraqi government claims seized intelligence
information before the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi will lead to the
ultimate defeat of al Qaeda. Can only
hope so. ... Sadly
sounds like a government slug talking out his ass, however.
Phony
propaganda, intentionally disseminated to demoralize the
enemy. Even
American intelligence experts question the veracity of the
claims.
We'll see.
Sadly,
Islamic terrorists in Thailand
felt perversely compelled to prove they're alive and well,
--
after the killing of Abu Musab
al-Zarqawi in Iraq. They set off over forty bombs in an
extremely
well-coordinated attack. ... An attack that government
officials
knew was coming, but could do nothing to prevent.
Immediately after departure of Mr. Bush and his party, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki immediately launched a crackdown on insurgents. The effort is the largest to date since the American invasion and occupation. Despite the crackdown, insurgent violence continues unabated.
Clearly stung by falling poll numbers, the "President" is indeed frantic to shore up public support of his failed Iraq policy. History is amusingly repeating itself. Mr. Bush is "dumbing down" goals of the war. ... As did his predecessors in Vietnam, -- Presidents Johnson and Nixon.
Realizing the violence will not end, the "President" has conveniently moved the goal posts. Peace and rule of law imposed by a legitimate Iraqi government are apparently no longer a possibility in a country torn by sectarian civil war. Mr. Bush now claims a "sense of order" as the new prime directive. Amazing, isn't it?
Not surprisingly for an oilman, however, the "President" also claims oil should be the "unifying factor" of the Iraqi people. Who'd 'a 'thunk' it? ... Hey, George? Whatever the hell happened to "liberty" and "democracy," Mr. "President?"
Wait
a minute dear readers.
... Momentarily ignore the supreme irony of the "President's"
newly-stated
"dumbed down" goals. ... Eureka.
... A true moment of
unmitigated enlightenment has occurred, hasn't it? ... The
"President"
finally
touched on the true reason he went to war under false
pretenses.
It's the oil, stupid.
In
a cunning political stunt truly
worthy of recently "exonerated" Bush advisor Karl Rove, the "President"
flew to Baghdad to meet with newly-installed Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri
al-Maliki.
--
The surprised Prime Minister
in Baghdad was to video-conference with Bush and his henchmen at Camp
David.
Sadly, the "President" placed political considerations and sagging poll numbers ahead of his safety, the safety of those with him on Air Force One, as well as that of people on the ground should his plane had been shot down by insurgents. Mr. Bush and his party spent six hours in the Green Zone before departure.
No
question, the "President" will
receive a spike in his popularity ratings. After all, the
American
people are too damned aggressively stupid to see through the smoke and
mirrors.
...
As the insanity and violence
continue unabated in Iraq after the killing of al-Zarqawi.
Last evening, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald informed the attorney of Bush political advisor Karl Rove he (Rove) will not be prosecuted in the Valerie Plame CIA leak fiasco. This is extremely good news for the "President" and his henchmen.
There are at least five possibilities. First, Mr. Rove is as clean as the driven snow. Second, the prosecutor accepted numerous inconsistencies in Rove's five grand jury appearances as due to "memory failures" as claimed by Rove. Third, the prosecutor indeed believed Rove to be guilty of perjury, obstruction of justice, and outing Ms. Plame, but could not indict him due to "insufficient evidence." Fourth, the prosecutor was influenced by enormous political pressure brought by the Bush "Administration" to give Rove a free pass. Fifth, the prosecutor was bought off, i.e. bribed.
The saddest part of this entire debacle? No one in the Bush "Administration" has been charged with disclosing the identity of Plame as a CIA operative, in direct retaliation for her husband's (former Ambassador Joe Wilson's) strong criticism of the "President" and his phony reasons for going to war in Iraq.
All
evidence to date implicate
indicted former Cheney Chief of Staff "Scooter" Libby as the
culprit.
-- Done at the apparent direction of "Vice President" "Slick Dick"
Cheney.
Libby, however, has not been charged with outing Plame, i.e. the
deliberate
disclosure of classified information destroying her career as an
operative.
Certainly, be interesting to see if Libby is indeed tried on the other
charges, -- and not pled out by the "prosecutor." After all,
ole'
"Slick Dick" must be protected at all costs, right?
U.S. military medical examiners state terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi died of blast injuries to his lungs, 52 minutes after the bombing. According to the examiners, he was not beaten or shot by American service personnel. DNA results confirm he was indeed the Jordanian-born al Qaeda leader.
Sadly,
the U.S.-conducted post
mortem will not end false speculation in the Moslem world Zarqawi was
beaten
and killed by American soldiers. Precisely, why the autopsy
should
have been performed by independent medical examiners.
