Three Guantanamo Bay "Detainees" Commit Suicide June 10, 2006

Three prisoners "detained" by the American military at Guantanamo Bay were found dead by guards.  They allegedly committed suicide.  Pentagon reaction?  Incredible and a perfect example of Right Wing fascism.

Seems the military believes the suicides were "not acts of desperation, but acts of war."  Again, to the Right Wing fascist, day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet.  Sadly, everything is deliberately convoluted, ass backwards.  Surreal.

Guantanamo prisoners have been "detained" since shortly after the 9/11 catastrophe.  They've been deliberately denied access to attorneys and our legal system.  Repeatedly tortured and abused.  Many are kept alive through forced feedings.  -- Tubes shoved up the nose of hunger strikers.  Nazi America.

Worst of all?  They are not considered prisoners of war, not afforded the protections of the Geneva Conventions.  Military lawyers, assigned to a handful the "President" and his henchmen wish tried in military tribunals, have successfully and to their great credit stymied Mr. Bush with appeals through the justice system.

-- If "detainees" are tried by military tribunals, they will be deliberately and conveniently denied constitutional rights.  Railroaded by our Nazi "President" and his minions.  Precisely, what the Fascist Right desperately seeks in our formerly great country.  No due process.

Guantanamo Bay is an international disgrace.  It has needlessly and foolishly made the United States appear to be a renegade nation, incapable of adhering to international law and standards of prisoner treatment.  It is a black eye.  It is one of the reasons we're so despised and feared by the international community.

Llano Memorial Healthcare System June 10, 2006

Long-term readers of this publication recall a considerable amount of time and effort were spent investigating waste within the Llano Memorial Healthcare System (LMHS.)  This writer spent months examining employee expense account records,  -- until getting the boot by CEO Kevin Leeper in direct violation of the Public Information Act.  Then again, with an outrageously corrupt and abusive District Attorney, there is no one to enforce the law and prosecute.  ... What ole' Sam "The Sham" wants and expects, he usually gets.

In excess of $200,000 of highly questionable employee expenses were posted by this publication at the time.  Also, the hospital system back then was in the middle of a desperate failed effort to expand to Marble Falls, having intended to build a new hospital there.  Thousands and thousands of dollars were wasted in feasibility studies and other expenses.

Fast forward approximately six years and history is again repeating itself.  LMHS and its corporate affiliates are hell-bent on building a new hospital complex in Burnet County in Flatrock Springs, close to the intersection of Highways 281 and 71, just outside Marble Falls.

Approximately 18 acres worth some $2.7 million has been "donated" by developer Sam Martin and his cronies.  -- Developers never donate out of the "goodness of their hearts."  Rather, they spend money to make more.  ... As is their right.  To sugar coat their motives, however, is disingenuous and deceptive.

LMHS and its corporate offshoots are Llano County governmental entities.  Building a hospital outside the County will grandly line the pockets of developers and medical staff.  Llano County residents will be forced to travel outside the County for most medical treatment once the new hospital is built.

While LMHS claims it will not close Llano Memorial Hospital at this time, services will be cut back.  Eventually, LMHS will be "forced" to close it, however, since it is indeed a money loser.  Intentionally, so.  -- Despite the fact, the new hospital is supposedly projected to post a profit during the third year.  ... Money that will supposedly be available and returned to the Llano hospital.  Regardless, Burnet County will ultimately have two hospitals.  Llano County will likely have none.

Interestingly, no one has promised the Llano hospital will indeed remain open.  No one.  ... Only, that it supposedly has a better chance of remaining open if the expansion to Burnet County moves forward.  Fascinating, isn't it?  Unadulterated BS and outrageously disingenuous on the part of developers, hospital officials and board members.

There is enormous financial risk.  -- To be borne by the taxpayers if the new hospital fails or does not live up to expectations.  Not Llano County taxpayers, supposedly, but federal taxpayers.  ... Taxpayers always foot the bill when things go south.  Seldom do developers.  They're too damned smart, self-serving, and extremely proficient at covering their financially portly asses.  Again, as is their right.

Interestingly, Seton has refused to get on board.  It wants no part of the new hospital.  Why?  If it is truly a brilliant project that will be ultimately unquestionably profitable, why is Seton not interested?

While a new hospital in the planned location will undeniably line the pockets of developers and doctors, how will it truly serve Llano County residents and taxpayers forced to travel out of county?  To date, this writer has seen no evidence of plans to force Burnet County patients to truly foot the bill, defray the costs of Llano County patients with or without insurance, or those who are indigent.  Why not?

Interestingly, cunning developers desperately want LMHS to assume the financial risk of the proposed hospital.  -- They know it is highly unlikely any privately owned hospital groups would be interested any time in the near future.  After all, a new hospital in today's financial climate is enormously risky.  Why not conveniently shift the burden to a governmental entity and the taxpayers?  Developers win, regardless, whether the hospital succeeds or fails.

While thousands and thousands of dollars have already been spent on new, recently conducted feasibility studies, the results of those studies are always suspect, since a client usually gets exactly what he wants.  Precisely, what he's paying for.  ... Specifically, the clients in this case are effectively the developers and indeed the hospital system (LMHS,)  -- which desperately wants the expansion.

Think about it, dear readers.  LMHS desperately wants to expand to the Marble Falls-Horseshoe Bay area, because that's where the money is.  Should you be a well-to-do or wealthy guy or gal, and God forbid, get cancer or some other terrible disease, however, where would you go for treatment?  Locally at the proposed Lake of the Hills Medical Center, -- or M.D. Anderson, Sloan-Kettering, the Mayo Clinic, etc.?

If the new hospital fails, LMHS will be on the ropes.  So will U.S. taxpayers.  So will Llano County residents.  -- While the developers will be laughing their financially portly asses off all the way to the bank.  ... While Llano County officials scramble to pass the buck, and the blame, on to hospital officials and the various boards.  Amusingly, there is already currently the possibility the City of Llano may soon sue the County before ground is even broken.  Interesting times, no?

Clearly, the City of Llano is finally beginning to know where it's bread is buttered.  Despite the fact Llano does not want new business in town with the absence of Wal-Mart and HEB being two prime examples, it does know Llano Memorial Hospital is the only large employer in Llano paying decent wages and benefits.  Precisely, why its eventual closing will be devastating and felt city-wide.

Zarqawi Update June 10, 2006

Seems American government spokesmen had problems getting the facts straight after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed as a result of a bombing raid.  First, only one F-16 fighter jet did the bombing.  -- The other was being refueled in-flight at the time two 500 lb. bombs were dropped on the terrorist and his party.

Second, Zarqawi survived the attack, but died shortly after American troops arrived at the scene.  He was one of three men and three women killed during the bombing.  NBC News, however, also claims a girl was killed.  This has not been confirmed by the military.

Interestingly, Zarqawi had not been blown apart.  -- His face barely scratched.   Troops claim they only wiped off blood and dirt, before snapping his mug shot.  They also claim to have given him medical care shortly before his death.  His autopsy is being conducted in a "safe location" by U.S. military personnel. Why?  Why wasn't the post mortem conducted by independent medical staff?  The Iraqis themselves?

With such a high-profile kill, why would American authorities leave any unanswered questions or foolishly facilitate, or at least enable, speculation regarding the circumstances of his death?  Especially, in the radical Moslem world, already riddled with profound distrust for American authorities?  Especially, since one Iraqi claimed Zarqawi was beaten to death by American troops after their arrival.  -- An allegation hotly denied by American commanders.

In Saturday morning radio address remarks, the "President" claimed Zarqawi's killing dealt a "severe blow to the ideology of terror."  How?  Sadly, it is no more than the death of one leader, -- of one terrorist insurgent group in Iraq.  Gen. George Casey, Commander of Multi-National Forces in Iraq, has repeatedly stated the military believes al Qaeda commands approximately 1000 fighters of the 20,000 insurgents currently fighting American forces, and reeking havoc.

Worse, and although Zarqawi was indeed the head of al Qaeda in Iraq, this organization is made up of many, many small cells with individual leadership and initiative.  Cunningly brilliant decentralization.  Again, sadly so.  Making it extremely difficult to defeat.

... Under such circumstances, cutting off the head of the snake does not kill it.  Once again, the "President" is talking out his ass, whistling past the graveyard, and blatantly lying to the American people.  For crass political purposes.  -- While our troops continue to die and/or be maimed for nothing more than the "President's" sorry political ass.

Al-Zarqawi Killed June 8, 2006

Finally, some "good" news from Iraq.  American forces successfully bombed and killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.  The al Qaeda leader was killed in a safe house, along with a top aide and others.  The "President" was quick to take credit, but careful in warning the public the war is indeed not over, the insurgency not defeated, and the violence likely to continue.  Mr. Bush, however, does hope the killing of a top al Qaeda official will mark a turning point in the war.

Readers are reminded the hope was quite the same after Saddam was captured.  Sadly, it never materialized.  Indeed, Zarqawi was the leader of but one fighting faction.  There are a number of others, as sectarian civil war continues to spread through the heart of Iraq.  Highly likely, the insanity will not end any time soon.  Hopefully, the fledgling new government will quickly rise to the occasion and take control, -- as it claims it will in 18 months.

According to NBC Pentagon sources, one highly independent American special ops group, Task Force 145, was directly responsible for finding and killing Mr. Zarqawi, calling in the air strike when it feared he might escape.  This group was extremely tight-lipped with information, refusing to share it with other American forces.  The "President," however, in public comments after the air strike praised the government of Iraq for its supposed cooperation in finding Zarqawi.  It is not yet clear exactly what the truth is.  Be interesting to see who's lying, -- or at least stretching the truth.

The "President," in carefully crafted comments, remarked both F-16 fighter jets delivered "justice" to al-Zarqawi.  Is that right, George?  -- Your idea of "justice" is military retaliation and not the court room and system of justice in our formerly great country?  Then again, you and your henchmen had no problem holding hundreds of "detainees" in our jails after 9/11 with no access to attorneys and the courts.  ... Or imprisoning and torturing "enemy combatants" at Guantanamo Bay and other secret prisons in Europe and elsewhere. Nazi America.  Where day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet.

Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment Defeated June 7, 2006

The "President" once again lost in his efforts to constitutionalize homophobic bigotry.  The one man, one woman marriage amendment went down in defeat in the Senate, 49-48.  Legislators were unable to cut off debate, effectively killing the measure.  Mr. Bush and his henchmen did manage to get one more vote over last year's tally, however, encouraging them to bring it up again next year.  ... If at first you don't succeed in destroying civil and constitutional rights and liberties, try, try again.

"President" Lobbies For Anti-Gay Constitutional Amendment  June 5, 2006

No question, prejudice and bigotry are alive and well in our formerly great country.  Certainly, homophobic bigotry.  The "President" spent the weekend, and intends to spend much of this week, lobbying the Senate for a constitutional amendment that will define "marriage" as a relationship between one man and one woman.

Although such an amendment has a snowball's chance in the Senate, Mr. Bush is clearly pandering to his Fascist Right base.  Should the amendment ever be passed, it would be the first time in American history bigotry is constitutionalized in the United States.

The Fascist Right is terrified and amusingly insecure of its sexual identity.  Conventional marriage is the bedrock of society in their myopic view.  They clearly ignore the fact present culture has indeed evolved into a variety of familial relationships.  Both straight and gay.

The fascist, however, longs for the bygone day where the father's role and say in the family were supreme and final.  Things have inalterably changed for the better, however.  Women do, and should, have an equal say.  Many are head of household.

The pernicious pecking order of fascism, though, begins with the primacy of the man in the house. It then runs up the twin hierarchies of the state and church.  ... In the hopelessly perverse view of the Right Wing fascist.  Disturb the pecking order, and you turn the fascist's convoluted world upside down.  ... Tough, isn't it?

Precisely, why the Nazi element is so afraid of gay marriage and homosexual relationships.  Both rock the boat and the established order.  Fascists myopically see things in terms of right and wrong, black and white.  No shades of gray.  No brilliant hues of color.  Analysis of profound problems is always over simplistic.  Solutions offered, achingly simplistic and ineffective.  Pathetically, so.

Fascists are afraid of freedom.  Precisely, why the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments effectively no longer exist.  Why the First, Second, Ninth, and Tenth are under vicious attack.  Why women are increasingly denied the right to do with their uterus as they damn well please.

The "President" should be ashamed of himself.  His actions are not only comically hypocritical, but gutlessly un-Christian as well.  ... Then again, Mr. Bush has never been bashful about wearing his phony "religious" views conveniently on his sleeve.  For political gain.  In Nazi America.  Where day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet.

ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions

The following is a series of unedited email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and this writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year ago.  To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint filed.  Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues, -- or is wildly incompetent.  You decide.  ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions
