Memorial Day 2006 May 29, 2006

Millions of American troops eternally rest in graves all over the world, as well as here at home.  Stunningly courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and our way of life.  -- Men and women who have been callously betrayed, however, by the regime currently in power in our formerly great country.

Memorial Day is not about the lake, shore, hot dogs, hamburgers, and beer.  Rather, it is about death and the principles our military personnel died for.  ... Principles that clearly mean nothing any longer in our once great nation.

The fascist occupying the Oval Office and his henchmen in Congress have abrogated, truly eviscerated the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments through outrageously unconstitutional legislation such as the USA "Patriot" Act, Homeland "Security" Act, other legislation repeatedly reported in this publication, as well as equally unconstitutional Executive Orders signed by the "President."  All, falsely in the name of national "security."  All, in an effort to consolidate power.

In addition, warrantless domestic spying continues unabated in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment.  We're still fighting a war in Iraq launched under false pretenses.  The war in Afghanistan languishes on and bin Laden remains ignored by Mr. Bush and his henchmen.  Sadly, the "President" doesn't have the guts and intestinal fortitude to order Special Forces into Pakistan to find the bastard.

Police forces across the nation have been militarized.  Officers wantonly kill and seldom face justice.  Police truly have a license to kill, -- whether justified or not.  Constitutional rights no longer exist on public roads.  Police conduct warrantless searches of vehicles, with or without permission.

Lie with no consequences.  Conduct "stings" that are no more than entrapment.  Plant drugs on innocent people.  Do drugs.  Sell drugs.  Steal property that does not belong to them through "asset forfeiture."  When federal or local law enforcement thugs can make no case, they falsely accuse targets of making "false" statements.  Prosecutors then falsely prosecute them.  In Nazi America.

Our government is growing increasingly fascist.  That is, a pernicious blend of government, business, and religion.  An oligarchy perversely "justified" by "religion."  In Nazi America, day has become night, night is day, and manure smells sickeningly sweet.

Our war dead must be spinning in their graves.  Clearly, they can no longer recognize the country they died for.  It is no more.  As Benjamin Franklin wisely knew well over two hundred years ago, anyone willing to trade liberty for security deserves and winds up with neither.  Sadly, his prophecy has come true.

At the end of the Second World War, our country was truly great.  A bastion of freedom.  Magnificent in our generosity to Japan and Germany.  We rebuilt both countries.  Sent CARE packages to their hungry.  Made sure they were able to get back on their feet.  Our generosity to our former enemies was truly stunning and second to none in history.  Consequently sixty years later, we have no better allies.  What went so terribly wrong?  Where did we lose our way?  On so many critical issues?

Why didn't Truman announce a crash program in 1945 to ensure our country was energy independent in ten years?  The President certainly knew the importance of energy independence.  The Second World War truly proved the need.  Analysts in the Fifties predicted coming energy problems.  Certainly remember reading about it in the Weekly Reader nearly fifty years ago as a kid.

Pearl Harbor apparently severely damaged the collective psyche of our once great country.  Made us all too prone to severely overreact to perceived threat.  Possibly, why we not only tolerated but nurtured the McCarthy Era and allowed rabid American fascists fifty years ago to blacklist and destroy the careers of the innocent.  ... After supposedly defeating fascism not even ten years earlier.

Certainly, enabled the Korean fiasco and Cold War.  Foolishly drew us into Vietnam under false pretenses.  -- The Gulf of Tonkin incident never occurred but was manufactured by President Johnson and his henchmen to draw us into the conflict.

Sadly, the threat of the Cold War was deliberately overblown by Right Wing fascists during the McCarthy era and for years thereafter.  -- Fascists, who were extremely afraid they might be forced to share the loot.  Communism, however, had amusingly been on the ropes for decades.  Consecutive Soviet Five Year Programs were abysmal failures.

They couldn't even feed their people.  ... Had communism been truly robust, alive and well in the former Soviet Union, would the Soviets ever have backed down during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis?  Although falsely claimed by the Fascist Right, President Reagan did not defeat communism.  Communism did.

It had no chance of success.  While capitalism is indeed abusive, the greatest number of people enjoy its benefits.  -- A far greater percentage than any socio-economic governmental system ever devised.  Doesn't mean, however, it should not be carefully controlled and reined in as necessary.

Amusingly, laissez faire capitalism is both the dream and bane of the Right Wing fascist.  While he greedily seeks the autonomy offered by laissez faire to freely loot, he also craves the control and security such a system ultimately provides if abused through convenient cowardly perversion of legitimate government power.

Translation?  The fascist seeks unlimited wealth and desperately wants the protection and services of government to shield his loot as well as the looting process itself.  Burns the candle at both ends.  Craves the freedom to loot provided by a laissez faire approach, but also wants government to intervene as necessary to protect his interests and the looting process.

True laissez faire does not offer both.  Doesn't stop the fascist from trying to have his way, however.  The fascist is ultimately desperately afraid of freedom, -- precisely why he or she tirelessly tries to control a woman's uterus as well as all sexual behavior between consenting adults.  To say nothing of civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

Precisely, why the fascist desperately tries to return religion to the public school classroom, perversely imposes biblical beliefs on others through force of law, wants "Creationism," i.e. "Intelligent Design" taught as science, and breathlessly tries to impose his moral and religious views on others.

The assassinations of President Kennedy, his brother Robert, and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King were pivotal turning points in the Sixties.  ... Turning points our formerly great country never recovered from.  Sadly, these truly great men died for nothing.

We learned nothing from the resignations of a corrupt President, and his Vice President before him, back in the Seventies.  Despite the corruption of the Nixon Administration, we willingly and eagerly allowed the Bush "Administration" to steal its first term, consolidate power, conveniently use secrecy to cover ongoing corruption and abuse, and abrogate all constitutional rights and liberties in the name of national "security."  To say nothing of ongoing warrantless domestic spying.

Our formerly great country has become Right Wing and fascist.  Nazi America.  Not only are the Founders spinning in their graves, but millions of our war dead.  Adolph and Benito must be smiling from their fiery perches.  ... Ultimately, they won, didn't they?  We allowed them.  Facilitated the process.  Sadly, a revolution has become all but inevitable.  We get what we truly deserve.  Aggressive stupidity is always rewarded. Always.

"Justice" Department Seeks Dismissal Of NSA Lawsuits May 27, 2006

The "Justice" Department is desperate to have two NSA warrantless domestic spying lawsuits dismissed by the courts.  The Bush "Administration" conveniently but disingenuously claims it would have to disclose operational details that would supposedly jeopardize national "security" to defend the program.  -- The same line of BS similarly claimed by the Nixon Administration over thirty years ago to cover up ongoing criminal activity and abuse.

Vietnam War Veterans Betrayed May 26, 2006

In a report aired during the NBC Nightly News this evening, it seems Dr. Henry Kissinger conveyed to the Chinese at the time of negotiations some 35 years ago the United States would accept and have no problems with a communist takeover of South Vietnam.

If true, this comes as no surprise.  Both the Johnson and Nixon Administrations clearly wanted out of the war.  Concession after concession was made.  ... Starting with Johnson's willingness to include the Viet Cong in a coalition government in the Sixties.

This was incomprehensible to those of us who supported the war prior to 1967.  A betrayal of our troops and what they supposedly were fighting for.  The betrayal was to become far worse, however.  Both Johnson and Nixon turned against the troops they had sent into battle.  While paying lip service to them and their sacrifice.

The Vietnam War was not about freedom.  It was about lining the pockets of defense contractors such as Dow Chemical, Dupont, Boeing, the former McDonnell Douglas Corporation, and many, many others.  Our troops paid the price.  Still do.  Still die from Agent Orange, service-related injuries, neglect, etc..

For what?  When will we finally wake up?  When will we finally hold corrupt and abusive government officials accountable for their crimes.  When?  When will we finally truly support our veterans by providing the services we promised at the time of enlistment?  When?

When will we protect the personal data of our veterans so 26 million of them won't have to worry about identity theft?  ... As recently happened when a lap top was improperly removed from the Veterans Administration, taken home, and consequently stolen.  When will things finally change?  When?

Iraq Meum Culpas By Bush And British Prime Minister May 26, 2006

In a carefully controlled joint press conference last night, Mr. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair tritely admitted mistakes in the Iraq fiasco over the last three years.  Yet, both continue to claim they were right in going to war, removing Saddam, and continuing the conflict.

Do they really believe an overly simplistic, hollow, profoundly shallow, disingenuous, clearly unmeant admission of fault and responsibility will fly with either the British or American people?  When will both be removed from office and prosecuted for war crimes?

Meanwhile, the killing continues unabated in Iraq.  Despite a new Iraq government, terrorists and insurgents control the battlefield.  Not Americans.  Nor the British.  Nor the newly installed government which is little more than an American puppet.

Amusingly, ironically, the "President" lamented his earlier aggressively stupid admonition to the enemy to "Bring it on."  ... As well as ill-advised "Wanted dead or alive" comments regarding bin Laden.  Sadly, insurgents took Mr. Bush up on both.  Our troops paid the price.  Nearly 2500 killed.  Approximately 18,000 maimed.  Clearly, Mr. "President," the enemy brought it on.

Your family, friends, loved ones haven't done the fighting and dying, George.  You cowardly let others do it for you.  What's been accomplished, Mr. "President?"  Our troops have not been welcomed as "liberators."  Not showered with chocolates and gratitude as falsely predicted by "Slick Dick" Cheney and others in your "Administration."  Rather, they've been cruelly killed and maimed by IEDs.

Despite very public elections and celebrated ink-stained fingers, Iraqis don't want or understand democracy.  -- Or the sacrifice and courage democracy demands.  Had they, they would have turned in all insurgents to American or Iraqi troops long ago.  Instead, the enemy is granted safe haven, only to wantonly kill and continue the mayhem.

Iraqis and other Moslems don't think like Americans.  Don't share the same values.  Don't see life in quite the same fashion.  Don't react the way we condescendingly and patronizingly expect.  Don't see us as "liberators," or appreciate the sacrifice our troops have made in removing an admittedly brutal dictator and providing them a chance for freedom.

Conversely, Iraqis fully understand the war was launched under false pretenses by the fascist occupying the White House.  For political reasons.  They know they've been duped and used by Mr. Bush.  For the "President's" seemingly unlimited global ambitions and agenda.  So does the rest of the world.  The only people who remain clueless are us, the American people.  ... Heads so far up our collective ass, our eyeballs are turning inside out.

The true Bush "Axis of Evil" is not centered in Iraq, Iran, Syria, North Korea, etc..  Rather it is centered in the Oval Office.  The "President" has repeatedly abrogated civil and constitutional rights and liberties supposedly in the name of national "security."  He has continuously and repeatedly violated his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The true threat to American security is not al Qaeda, any other terrorist organization, or foreign power.  Rather, it is the "President" himself.  When will the fascist be impeached, convicted, removed from office, and criminally prosecuted not only for violation of federal statutes, but war crimes as well?

The "President" declared during the joint news conference Abu Ghraib to be the biggest mistake during the Iraq War.  Is that right, George?  Mr. Bush clearly ignored the ongoing investigation of allegedly 24 murders of innocent Iraqis by U.S. Marines six months ago.  ... An investigation that has been stonewalled and will likely finally result in at least several courts martial.

Ludicrously, Mr. Blair and the "President" believe the war and the killing and maiming should continue in Iraq.  Otherwise, in their perverse and convoluted "thinking," all those killed and maimed so far will have been killed and maimed for nothing.  ... Got it?

This is precisely the same unadulterated BS promulgated by proponents of the war in Vietnam, -- after that conflict was clearly shown to be unwinnable and a colossal mistake.  It was the very same aggressively stupid rationale that resulted in tens of thousands of additional unnecessary deaths and injuries.

It was the only way Presidents Johnson and Nixon believed they could "save face," limit political damage, and cover their supremely corrupt and abusive collective asses.  They did so, however, at the expense of American military personnel.  Truly, our best and brightest.  They cowardly, conveniently, and disingenuously betrayed these exceptionally courageous and dedicated people in uniform.

History is again repeating itself. Mr. Bush and his henchman in Britain are doing exactly the same thing.  Shamelessly so.  They're cleverly, but successfully, again pulling the wool over the eyes of a hopelessly aggressively stupid public.  Neither has been held accountable.  Neither has been charged with war crimes.

Why is it seemingly impossible for the leadership of our once great country to truly and readily admit any mistakes?  Why is it impossible for the fascist currently occupying the Oval Office to admit the rationale for going to war in Iraq was a ruse?

Why is it impossible for him to admit to the American public and the world community that the war was, and is, unjustified?  Why is it impossible for him to apologize for that "mistake," finally do the right thing, and resign in disgrace?

To this very day, Memorial Day 2006, the "President" continues to falsely link Iraq to the 9/11 catastrophe and the so-called "War On Terror."  Indeed, Iraq has become a haven and training ground for terrorists.  It became so after the "President" invaded under false pretenses more than three years ago.

It will remain a haven and training ground for terrorists until American troops are withdrawn.
... A view held by an increasing number of former military men including outspoken retired Marine Lt.Col. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.

The congressman and others are right.  The United States has foolishly provided al Qaeda and other terrorists safe haven and a useful training ground in Iraq.  ... Where better to perfect their tactics of killing and maiming Americans?

The killing and ongoing insurgency in Iraq will not stop until American troops are removed.  ... If then.  Regardless, it is their war, not ours.  Our troops could be far better utilized elsewhere hunting bin Laden and other members of al Qaeda, -- the organization directly responsible for 9/11.  The "President" was stupidly side-tracked in Iraq, and immediate course correction is desperately needed.  Now.

The "President's" "War On Terror" will be sadly lost because our government remains unwilling  to change policies that directly led to the rise of terrorism.  First, the lack of an even-handed approach in the Middle East vis a vis the Israeli-Palistinian conflict.  Second, continued financial and political support of the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia.  Third, the failure and unwillingness of the United States to become energy independent, resulting in continued import of oil from Moslem countries.  Fourth, continued presence and garrison of American forces in Moslem nations such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.  With no movement on any of these issues, the "War On Terror" will languish on and be ultimately lost.

Iraq is far worse than it was before the invasion.  The killing more pervasive than during the Saddam regime.  Far less order.  Far less security.  Power on only a few hours a day.  Basic human needs severely lacking.  They can't even keep the oil flowing due to sabotage.  -- Oil that was supposed to pay for the war and reconstruction.

The war in Iraq has become a civil war.  It is a matter of time before all foreign troops will be forced to withdraw.  There is no way our troops or those of our allies would be able to prevail or survive in coming full-blown sectarian violence that will apparently be the legacy of the Bush "Administration's" invasion three years ago.  An invasion launched under false pretenses, -- no Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

The world is justifiably terrified of George Bush.  The "President" has become a law and force unto himself.  Where next, George?  Syria?  Iran? North Korea?  Red China?  Wake up, Mr. "President."  Aggressive stupidity is unbecoming.  Admission a mistake was made in Iraq, withdrawal in a timely fashion, and an apology for the misery imposed would go a long way to easing the fears of the world of a madman who haughtily believes he makes no real mistakes.

Hayden Confirmed May 26, 2006

Despite cleverly refusing to answer nearly all questions in public and forcing the Senate Judiciary Committee to go into closed session, Air Force four-star Gen. Michael Hayden was confirmed to head the Central Intelligence Agency.

Mr. Hayden is the architect of the Bush "Administration's" warrantless domestic spying operation.  Yet, this outrageous Right Wing fascist, who has absolutely no regard for the Fourth Amendment, has been confirmed by the cowardly U.S. Senate, 78-15.  Every damned senator who voted in favor of this Nazi should be booted from office.

These senators have egregiously violated their oaths of office to protect and defend the Constitution.  So has the General.  Equally disgusting, this sad excuse for a military man has hopelessly disgraced his uniform.  Adolph and Benito would have been proud.  In Nazi America.  Where day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet.

Enron Officials Convicted May 25, 2006

Former Enron high honchos Jeffrey Skilling and Ken Lay were convicted of multiple federal charges earlier today and will face long prison sentences on September 11.  Tough, isn't it?  Why won't both be forced to forfeit all financial assets and property in restitution?

Ongoing APD Schroeder and O'Leary Fiascoes May 25, 2006

This has not been a good time for the Austin Police Department.  A few days ago, training officer Commander Jim O'Leary was arrested for drunken driving after hitting a barricade at the airport.  -- The Commander is the same officer who was responsible for gassing anti-war protesters earlier.

The Julie Schroeder fiasco continues this week unabated as the former officer desperately tries to secure re-instatement.  Ms. Schroeder was no-billed earlier by a Travis County Grand Jury in the killing of an unarmed man, Daniel Rocha, last summer.

Despite the fact she was fired by outgoing Chief Stan Knee for reckless conduct and failure to follow procedure, former Officer Schroeder was not held criminally accountable for Rocha's murder.  As always, a corrupt and abusive officer escaped criminal responsibility for an unwarranted cowardly killing.

William Jefferson Fiasco May 25, 2006

On May 22, Louisiana Rep. William Jefferson had his congressional office and home searched by "Justice" Department goons.  Interestingly, federal thugs strongly claimed at the time the congressman had taken a $100K bribe in a video-taped sting operation, and had supposedly recovered most of it in a freezer owned by him.

Normally, this publication would have withheld criticism in such a case at least until adjudication.  After all, who doesn't support prosecution of corrupt and abusive government officials?  This case has a different twist, however.

There is strong indication this may be an abusive investigation and pending prosecution since Jefferson is a Louisiana Democrat who had been highly critical of Bush and his henchmen after Katrina.

There is also supposedly a separation of powers issue, (Article I, Section 6.)  Seems the Executive Branch in the guise of the "Justice" Department may not have had the power to search a Congressman's office on Capitol Hill.

Apparently, this was the first time in history a congressional office had been so searched.
... Despite many other earlier prosecutions and convictions of corrupt legislators, who certainly are not above the law.

The issue is in such strong contention, however, even the "President" himself has become personally involved and ordered a 45-day "cooling off" period in which the "Justice" Department will be forced to cool its heels and sit on any "evidence" seized.  This was done after Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and FBI Director Robert Mueller tacitly threatened to resign if forced to return seized material.

There is the possibility the "Justice" Department may have acted in good faith, however.  Consequently, final judgment must be delayed until the matter is allowed to play out in the courts.  The fact Bush intervened, though, is strong indication there may have been malfeasance on the part of his "Justice" Department.

Politically, the ramifications are quite profound.  Congressional Republicans are joining Democrats in criticizing the raid.  Amusingly, there is certainly no love lost between House and Senate Republicans and the "President."

Seems GOP legislators are afraid Mr. Bush may indeed improperly use the "Justice" Department to single them out for investigation in the Abramoff fiasco in retaliation for their lack of cooperation on other issues near and dear to the fascist occupying the Oval Office.  ... Tough, isn't it?

Regarding the targeted Democratic congressman who without question is entitled to the presumption of innocence, he certainly looks guilty.  Then again, federal goons have been known to lie like hell and fabricate evidence.  Can only hope if this case goes to trial jurors are indeed capable of getting to the truth.

Saddest of all, one can no longer implicitly trust any claims made by law enforcement and government prosecutors.  Their long history of deception and deceit, outright lies, pre-fabrication of evidence, and outrageous duplicity preclude any such trust.

Cheney To Be Prosecution Witness In Libby Case May 25, 2006

Putting the screws to the "Vice President," the prosecution in the Scooter Libby case has filed court documents indicating "Slick Dick" Cheney may be called as a prosecution witness.  Certainly sending a chill up the spine of the "President," this could be disastrous for the Bush "Administration."

Cheney would be forced to testify under oath about a variety of issues.  Politically, it would be impossible for him to exercise his Fifth Amendment right not to self-incriminate.  For years, Bush and his henchmen have carefully invoked secrecy to cover their actions and deny the public's right to know.  The cleverly engineered Karl Rove house of cards, however, could finally be well on its way to collapse.

Barbaro Recovering After Surgery May 22, 2006

This writer has done some trail riding over the years.  Also, spent several months three years ago taking care of 13 Arabians for friends.  Despite some knowledge of horses, there is absolutely no pretense of expertise.

Rather, this article is written as an expression of an extremely visceral reaction to the injury of Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro last Saturday at Preakness.  ... Watching that magnificent horse break his leg in three places was extremely difficult.

Having cared for five stallions, there is no question these animals have heart.  -- They're also difficult to handle and can be dangerous.  -- Biting or a quick kick is always a hazard.  Although this writer experienced neither.

While horse racing is indeed spectacular to watch and profoundly thrilling, can only wonder if we're using these animals.  For financial gain.  Enormous profit.  -- Although a horse can break a leg at a gallop without a rider, at least he's doing it on his own.  Doing what horses love to do.  When he or she is doing it for the commercial interests of mankind, however, the issue is different and far more complex.

All horses have unparalleled heart.  They're also profoundly intelligent.  Much more so than a dog or cat.  Equine loyalty is second to none.  -- Many have died running for their riders, under emergency conditions, well past exhaustion.

Barbaro is not the first thoroughbred to be injured during a race.  Nor will he be the last.
-- Seems like only yesterday when Ruffian was injured some thirty years ago and had to be euthanized after surgery.  Who gains?  The horse?  Greedy mankind?  Neither?  Have no answer, only unanswered questions.

FTC Declares No Widespread Gas Price Gouging May 22, 2006

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is one of the most useless federal "watchdog" agencies in American history.  Clearly, it's in the pocket of the business community and the fascists who champion it in the GOP.  For years, it's allowed abuse of consumers by outrageously corrupt and abusive credit reporting agencies.

Consequently, it comes as no surprise the FTC was "unable" to find any examples of "widespread" gas price gouging by Big Oil recently.  Imagine that.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist or an economist to know the American people have been given the shaft without the Vaseline three times in the last thirty years by hopelessly greedy oil companies.

The most recent example is proof positive.  One doesn't have to be a Milton Friedman to know gouging when one sees it.  At a time of record gasoline prices, oil companies are raking in record profits.  They falsely claim the market controls prices.  BS.  Abject nonsense.  Financially portly corporations do.  They easily manipulate the "market."  By whim.  Carefully and deliberately, create and nurture it.  After all, they've got a captured audience, don't they?

Amusingly, they clearly have consumers securely by the testicles, and are ever cleverly giving them a harder and harder twist.  Tough, isn't it?  It's the American way after all.  Consumers must have gasoline and other fuels, and the bastards in the energy industry know it.  Take advantage of it.  Line their pockets and those of hopelessly greedy shareholders.

We tolerate this.  Celebrate it.  -- As the financially portly bastards laugh their asses off all the way to the bank.  ... After properly giving thanks to the Lord every Sunday in church on bended knee for their good fortune.  Laughable, isn't it?  -- The aggressive stupidity of the American people, that is.  We get what we truly deserve.  Sadly, a revolution is quickly becoming inevitable.

ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions

The following is a series of unedited email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and this writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year ago.  To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint filed.  Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues, -- or is wildly incompetent.  You decide.  ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions
