$200 Million TSA "Secure Flight" Software Dumped February 9, 2006
The
TSA $200 million "Secure Flight"
computer program is a total failure and will not be implemented, -- for
now. The software is designed to screen passenger
records.
The current policy of airlines checking passenger records against
government
no-fly lists will be extended. That policy, as well, is a
colossal
failure with innocent passengers repeatedly denied boarding on flights,
with no reliable way of having their names removed from government
blacklists.
A Catch-22 that government is unable or unwilling to change or remedy.
Remember
indicted former Cheney
Chief of Staff Scooter Libby? Seems Mr. Libby gave grand jury
testimony
claiming "Vice President" "Slick Dick" Cheney and other higher-ups
authorized
him to disclose classified information to reporters to bolster the
"Administration's"
"case" for war in Iraq. ... What webs we weave. If
true, certainly
an impeachable offense.
The USA "Patriot" Act, twice temporarily renewed recently, will apparently be permanently extended if a Senate "compromise" by four Republican senators is accepted by the House. Again, most provisions will be permanently extended, with the most onerous renewed four years. ... Aren't we lucky?
Senate
Democrats Reid and Durbin
are going along. Sen. Russ Feingold is not yet on
board. Both
Republican and Democrat fascists remain determined to eviscerate
whatever
little is left of civil and constitutional rights and liberties. In
Nazi America. ... These bastards must
be remembered at
re-election time.
In
congressional intelligence
briefings designed to reduce pressure on the "President" from ongoing
wireless
domestic spying, "Administration" henchmen blew smoke up the skirts of
legislators. They cleverly refused to fully brief both the
House
and Senate intelligence committees and declined to answer questions of
members, all of whom have security clearance. Sen. Jay
Rockefeller
was particularly critical of the "Administration's" failure to provide
information regarding the program and its scope. When will
Mr. Bush
be impeached, convicted, removed from office, and criminally prosecuted?
In an apparent, clever, quite blatant attempt to "justify" wireless domestic spying, "President" Bush disclosed the supposed thwarting of a 2002 Library Tower attack in Los Angeles. According to Mr. Bush, al Qaeda had recruited Asian terrorists to fly an airliner into the building, supposedly using shoe bombs to commandeer the aircraft. The "President" also claims the ringleader was supposedly arrested somewhere in Asia.
... Hey, George? Why would alleged terrorists use shoe bombs to blow open a cockpit door at that time. Until recently, cockpit doors were not hardened. There would have been no need. Information remains extremely sketchy regarding the alleged plot, -- with the "President" deliberately adding to the confusion.
Seems Malaysian authorities are claiming the ringleader was supposedly dissuaded from carrying out the attack after he saw the 9/11 devastation in New York. -- Our government is reportedly claiming the ringleader, allegedly Sheik Mohammed and cohort Hambali, along with four other terrorists, are in American custody. ... Uncharged for four years? Whatever the hell happened to habeas corpus, Mr. "President?"
Where are all individuals supposedly involved in this conspiracy? Where have they been tried? What were the sentences meted down? How many millions of innocent American citizens had their emails and calls data-mined to provide the alleged information that supposedly led to the arrest or arrests? Why did you take four years to gutlessly disclose the supposed attack attempt conveniently at this time, -- a time under which you are under enormous pressure to "justify" the unjustifiable?
What better way to get the attention of an unresponsive, highly shielded "President" than to figuratively target him at the funeral of a civil rights legend? The Fascist Right is outraged two courageous speakers had the guts to challenge the policies of a "President" who has become a law unto himself.
The Right is amusingly miffed their man was ambushed at the funeral. Disingenuously, believes it unseemly. Tough, isn't it? Mr. Bush nearly always speaks before carefully selected groups where questions are vetted and well-choreographed. Consequently, the "President" is seldom vigorously challenged and confronted regarding his policies.
Rev. Joseph Lowery, long-time civil rights activist, made a caustic remark about weapons of mass destruction never found in Iraq and "misdirection" rampant in our formerly great country. The man is right. Those weapons were never found. The "President" went to war under false pretenses with no justification. In addition, there is indeed great misdirection centered in the Oval Office, choreographed and implemented by Mr. Bush and his henchmen.
Former President Carter courageously reminded mourners civil rights abuses are an ongoing problem as clearly demonstrated by the government's extremely poor response to Katrina and Rita survivors, -- most of whom were black and poor. No question, Mr. Carter spoke the truth. Worse, overt racism has become closet bigotry, difficult to root out and confront, -- something the former President did not say.
Interestingly, Mr. Carter also took a shot at FBI warrantless wiretapping of Mrs. King's husband during the J. Edgar Hoover years. No doubt, this was also a shot over the bow regarding current warrantless domestic spying by the "President" and his henchmen. Tough, isn't it? The truth indeed hurts, doesn't it? Precisely why the Fascist Right is so extremely angry with Lowery and Carter.
There has been no public complaint by the King family as of this writing. Not surprising, since Mrs. King was anti-war as was her husband. In addition, both were against warrantless wiretapping and were victims of such heavy-handed, abusive, illegal, unconstitutional government activity.
Amusingly and falsely, the Fascist Right claimed the "President" chose not to challenge the speakers because he is a "gentleman." Not so. Mr. Bush meekly said nothing because he has no ability to speak extemporaneously. He would have been clobbered by both men. ... If there isn't a well-written speech in a teleprompter screen, ole' George hasn't a clue. -- The Presidential debates were proof positive.
Sad, though, because there would have been no better forum for a debate than at the funeral of such a remarkable woman who so cherished and prized civil and constitutional rights and liberties. -- A brilliant, courageous woman who dedicated her life, legacy, and her husband's legacy to such high principles and goals.
After all, funerals are indeed supposed to be reasonably upbeat affairs where the life of the deceased and their accomplishments are shared and celebrated. What better way than to challenge a fascist who has worked his lifetime to quietly frustrate and surreptitiously decimate those goals? ... While falsely claiming to be a supporter of civil and constitutional rights and liberties.
Saddest
of all? None of
the other speakers confronted the "President." A terrible,
missed
opportunity to challenge an outrageously corrupt and abusive fascist
who
has eviscerated the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments in an
effort
to consolidate power and destroy civil and constitutional rights and
liberties.
Issues extremely close to the heart of the King couple,
--
who must have been smiling,
looking down at Lowery and Carter finally doing the right thing.
While neither Coretta or her husband would likely have so directly challenged a President at a funeral, never before the current occupant of the Oval Office has there been a President so well-shielded and unwilling to face and deal with dissent. Necessitating confrontation wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself. Sadly, even at a funeral.
The
Fascist Right claims the "President"
should receive credit for accepting the invitation, despite the fact he
would likely be a target by "liberals" attending and speaking at the
service.
Nonsense. Mr. Bush attended for one reason and one reason
only, --
shoring up his abominable standing with blacks and other
minorities.
A standing that is as poor as it is due to his policies against poverty
programs, education, and Affirmative Action. ... Programs,
extremely
important to the black community, other minorities, and whatever is
left
of the middle class.
It's Christmas in February. The "President" and his henchmen have submitted a $2.8 trillion budget to Congress. That's trillion with a "t." Would you believe $493 billion for defense? That doesn't, however, include an "emergency" request for an additional $120 billion for Afghanistan and Iraq. If approved, that would bring total spending for both wars to nearly a half trillion dollars. ... Most of it going to Iraq.
The budget deficit is estimated at some $423 billion, making the "President" clearly the biggest, most "liberal" spender of all time. Reportedly, Mr. Bush has increased the national debt some $3 trillion during his reign. ... A p--s hole in the snow, right? Had it been Clinton, he would have been tarred and feathered by the Fascist Right.
Despite
the enormous, growing
deficit, the "President" demands his tax breaks for the rich and big
business
be permanently extended. He generously
intends to reduce the
deficit by sticking it to entitlements such as Medicare, education,
etc.
Translation? "Let them eat cake," right, Mein Fuhrer?
Take care of the business community and the rich at the expense of
those
on the bottom of the food chain. -- As American as Mom and
apple
pie.
Hearings began in the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning regarding the "President's" warrantless domestic spying program. U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was the first witness. He claims Mr. Bush has the authority to do so as provided for by Article II of the Constitution as well as the Afghanistan war resolution.
Mr. Gonzales is a liar. There is no such authorization in either document, as opponents rightfully argued during the hearing. In addition, the 1978 FISA statute and other laws specifically prohibit warrantless wiretaps. To say nothing of the Fourth Amendment. The "President" is usurping power and violating his oath of office to support and defend the Constitution.
While the "President" and his henchmen claim warrantless domestic spying is supposedly limited to American citizens and foreigners assumed to be terrorists, American news organizations claim it goes much further. Apparently, NSA is data-mining millions of innocent domestic calls and emails in an effort to determine the identities of those American citizens who are supposedly having contact with foreign nationals "suspected" of terrorism.
When questioned during the hearing regarding such domestic data-mining, Mr. Gonzales refused to categorically rule out such spying. Fascinating, isn't it? In addition, he refused to discuss the scope and nature of the warrantless wiretapping, conveniently claiming "national security."
-- This phony excuse is enormously useful to the fascist dictator who calls himself "President." It ensures his policies are unreviewable by anyone other than himself. That is, Mr. Bush has become a law unto himself. This extends across the board since Day 1 of his "presidency," including treatment of "detainees" subject to abuse and torture, denied access to the courts and attorneys, and held indefinitely at the whim of the dictator currently occupying the Oval Office.
Mr.
Gonzales, Aryan arrogantly,
even refused to answer whether or not First Class mail is being opened
by government goons without benefit of a warrant.
Interestingly,
the Attorney General was not sworn to tell the truth before beginning
his
"testimony." Why are Republican fascists on the Judiciary
Committee
protecting him? What are they so afraid of? The
truth?
Moslems world-wide violently reacted to publication of cartoons of their Prophet by Danish and other European newspapers. Clearly, the Islamic world is not stable. Why make things worse by publishing caricatures that at the very least are demeaning and considered blasphemy by Moslems?
Think Islamic publication of a cartoon of Christ hanging on the Cross with a Nazi Swastika armband would not offend millions here? Think there would be no violent repercussions by members of the Fascist Right? That no American mosques would be desecrated? That no American Moslems would be threatened, beaten, and/or killed?
Think life here would be any different should the Fascist Right be ultimately successful in imposing a "Christian" theocracy in direct violation of the First Amendment and its prescription of church-state separation? Think they wouldn't kill non-Christian "infidels" if given absolute power? They already chillingly claim this is a supposedly "Christian" nation, -- despite the fact our country is indeed a pluralistic one including many religions, and in some cases, none.
Deliberate baiting of the Islamic world by European cartoons or "bring it on" statements by "President" Bush only foolishly confirm suspicions of the West shared by Moslems. They already believe Mr. Bush is conducting a "crusade" against them in Iraq and elsewhere. With good reason. -- Reportedly, the "President" has privately remarked the war in Iraq is divinely inspired, further complicating and inflaming the issue and passions. Foolishly, so.
As repeatedly stated on this website, the United States has created this terroristic monster in the Middle East. It has done so by 58 years of lopsided support of Israel at the expense of the Palestinians, decades of shafting the Arabs vis a vis oil until they grew wise to us, and the presence of American forces on Moslem soil throughout the region.
Worse, our government is directly responsible for the insanity in Iran over the last 26 years since the Shah was deposed by radical Islamists. After all, the U.S. government embraced and warmly supported the late Shah, a dictator who violently abused his people and lined his pockets at their expense. Precisely, why the Iranian imams gave him the boot and took over.
Have we forgotten that the United States government then turned to Saddam and supported the extremely brutal dictator during Iraq's long, bitter war with Iran? Fought by children when the adults were killed off? Made Saddam what he became by lavishing money, weapons, and even the chemicals used to gas the Iranians and his own people? Have we indeed Aryan arrogantly forgotten what our own government has myopically done in the name of political expediency and convenience?
The point of no return is quickly approaching. All these problems could have been resolved earlier by changes in American policy. With a "President" apparently hell bent on making Revelations come true in our time, the window is rapidly closing on peaceful resolution.
Mr. Bush wants war. He thrives on it. It is an extremely useful tool cleverly used to consolidate power, eviscerate civil and constitutional rights and liberties, and "justify" dictatorial rule falsely in the name of "national 'security.'"
While terrorists are indeed a dangerous problem, the "President" is the far greater threat to us and our way of life. Mr. Bush could have easily deflated al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations by wisely instituting badly-needed policy changes that should have been implemented decades ago. He has not done so, choosing instead to cowardly go to war in Iraq under false pretenses.
Not all Moslems are radical as falsely claimed by the Nazi Right. Clerics in Lebanon clearly demonstrated this over the weekend when they courageously walked into the violent crowd and urged followers to stop the violence. Rightfully, told them their violence was not sanctioned by Islam.
At a crossroads in American history, the "President" is out of control, deluded, and determined to imperialistically impose his will on others. Mr. Bush is a threat to peace and our formerly great country. Before too late, it is time for the public to finally wake up and force change.
With
half the country in opposite
camps, the alternative is something no one wants, -- a second American
Revolution. While the "President" clearly gets his cookies
off killing
and maiming, do we really want it here?
Supporters promised the Texas medical tort reform constitutional amendment would lead to "significant" reductions in medical malpractice premiums. Surprise, surprise, it has not. Premiums have only been reportedly reduced 5%. Half of Texas doctors have seen no reduction at all.
Losers?
Victims of healthcare
butchers who are now capped at $250,000 in pain and suffering
awards.
Worse, the constitutional right to sue has been abrogated by Republican
fascists eager to please healthcare lobbyists who generously line their
pockets with campaign contributions. ... While the victims of
medical
butchers take it in the rump without the Vaseline.
In direct violation of free speech, ABC censored song lyrics of the Rolling Stones during their Superbowl appearance last night. The Fascist Right has certainly been successful instilling fear in broadcasters after the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" at an earlier Superbowl appearance.
What
these Nazis fail to appreciate
is the true obscenity the public is constantly exposed to, -- a
bold-faced
lying fascist "President" who went to war in Iraq under false pretenses
and has deliberately eviscerated the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth
Amendments
through outrageously unconstitutional legislation such as the USA
"Patriot"
Act, Homeland "Security" Act, etc., other equally unconstitutional
Executive
Orders, and warrantless domestic spying. In Nazi
America.
Twenty-three
terrorists, including
the master mind of the Cole disaster, "escaped" a
Yemeni prison.
Tunneled through 450 feet of extremely hard soil. Half of the
prisoners
were al Qaeda fighters. Extremely likely
they've already fled
to the countryside and are being supported and protected by
sympathizers.
How do 23 of the most dangerous men in Yemen escape a high security
prison
without government support and help? -- So much for our
"allies"
in the "war against terror."
Reportedly,
30-40% of Iraqi oil
revenues are financing insurgent activities. -- While
American taxpayers
are looted billions for re-building funds diverted to provide
"hired"
"security." To say nothing of additional billions for
American troops
serving as occupiers. All told and soon, to the tune of
approximately
a half trillion dollars. ... Anything
wrong with this picture?
