Domestic Spying Well Beyond That Admitted December 23, 2005

Once again, the "President" and his "Administration" have deceived the American public.  Domestic spying without warrants and court approval went well beyond what Mr. Bush and his henchmen have admitted so far.

Reportedly, electronic surveillance was not limited to American citizens placing overseas phone calls and emails as the "President" earlier confirmed.  Apparently, the National Security Agency (NSA) data mined millions of domestic phone calls without warrants and court supervision.  Telecommunications companies compliantly provided this data upon demand to NSA shortly after the 9/11 catastrophe.

Since 9/11, the FBI has spied on mosques, Moslem-owned businesses, and Moslem-homeowners.  Without a warrant.  Without court oversight.  Federal goons have gone so far as to measure radiological emissions at Islamic establishments, both commercial and private, without a warrant.  In direct violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, contradicting the "President," claimed Mr. Bush was twice rebuffed by the Senate in his repeated request for authorization to spy domestically with no court warrants and oversight.  ... Right up to minutes before the Afghan resolution granting war powers to the "President" was approved by the Senate.

The "President" publicly lied about the non-existent authorization to domestically spy that he claimed was in that resolution.  The "President" also disingenuously lied Congress was informed of the spying.

Only a few knew, were conveniently prohibited from disclosing that information due to secrecy laws, and were deliberately ignored, despite their opposition, by the "President" and his henchmen.

When the "President" was refused authorization to unconstitutionally spy on the American people without court approval, he did so anyway.  Claiming powers he certainly does not have. In Nazi America.

When will the most corrupt and abusive President since Richard Nixon be impeached, convicted, removed from office, and criminally prosecuted?  If not, what will it take to avoid a revolution?

National Archives Alito Memos Released December 23, 2005

The National Archives released memos written by Supreme Court nominee "Judge" Samuel Alito as a Reagan Administration attorney twenty years ago, including one plotting tactics to overturn Roe v. Wade.  This goes well beyond a lawyer doing his job as an advocate for the President.  It clearly indicates Alito's religious bias against abortion rights, -- a bias that will be brought to the bench by this outrageously fascist candidate for the highest court of the land.  ... Who will certainly "legislate" his perverse ideology and beliefs from the bench.  Despite phony, disingenuous assurances to the contrary.

Bush "Administration" Announces Troop Withdrawal December 23, 2005

Succumbing to domestic political reality and a military stretched too thin all over the world, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced the beginning of a planned troop withdrawal from Iraq.

Grandstanding in-country to combat troops, Rumsfeld claimed not only will force figures be quickly reduced from 160,000 to a baseline of 138,000 prior to the election, an additional two brigades will not be sent to Iraq early next year.  This amounts to approximately 7,000 troops below baseline.  ... If conditions permit, according to the Secretary of Defense.

Mr. Rumsfeld once again lied to troops and the American public, falsely claiming success on the ground is directly responsible for the beginning of withdrawal.  Utter nonsense.  Increasing political pressure domestically and coming midterms next fall are the true reasons for this turn-around in policy.  For the "Administration" to claim otherwise is the height of dishonesty and hypocrisy.  Convenient, gutless distortion of reality.  Simply not true.

New York City Transit Union December 23, 2005

For three days earlier this week, the New York City Transit Union went on strike.  It cost the union $3 million in fines to be appealed, and two days pay docked for every day on strike for each worker.  Cost to the city in lost revenue and business, -- approximately $1 billion.

Sadly, union management cowardly capitulated and ordered workers to return to work, fearing imprisonment on contempt charges.  The union foolishly complied with no contract.  Aggressive stupidity at its worst.  ... There is no better time to pressure greedy management than during the Christmas season.

"Management" in this case is the City of New York.  The billionaire city mayor laughably accused the union of greed.  -- Nothing quite like the kettle calling the pot black, is there?  The union did not strike over salary, however, but retirement issues.

In Nazi America, pensions quickly went the way of the 401(k) over the last two decades.  Now, employers no longer wish to contribute to these sadly inadequate programs that often are terribly mismanaged by corporate management.

Worse, 401(k) funds have been stolen by cash-strapped companies eager to please insatiably greedy shareholders with unparalleled returns on investment, as well as to pay corporate executives astronomical compensation packages.  Yet, the thieving bastards are protected and seldom prosecuted.  While ripped-off employees and retirees are out of luck.

Shareholders and top corporate and government officials always come first.  Historic returns on investment.  -- Multi-million dollar salaries and bonuses to top management in the corporate world with golden parachutes second to none.  At the expense of those on the bottom doing the labor.  Government officials are even better taken care of in many cases, since what they can steal is nearly unlimited and rarely prosecuted.

After all, taxpayers' pockets are bottomless, aren't they?  The biggest spending administration in history, the Bush "Administration" and its Republican compadres, would certainly agree.  Certainly, apropos even with Iraq War costs excluded from consideration as well as tax breaks for the rich and Big Business to be ultimately paid for by future generations.

None of this is a matter of class envy, but class injustice.  If it were not for unions, the minimum wage would be non-existent or 50 cents an hour.  A loaf of bread would cost $10.  Non-unionized workers benefited greatly from unions in American history, unions that fought for a livable wage and benefits that always trickled down to the non-unionized.

Why do non-unionized businesses like Wal-Mart fight like hell to keep unions out?  They know damn well compensation and benefits would have to be raised to a livable level.  Tough, isn't it?  Indeed, there is corruption in union management.  Even more, in corporate boardrooms and the highest echelons of corporate power.  Answer?  Vigorously prosecute corruption wherever it's found.

With the decline of unions over the last 25 years, the standard of living for the poor and middle class has significantly dropped.  While the rich got super rich, those on the bottom and the middle class took the shaft without the Vaseline.  -- Indeed, a zero-sum game, to borrow a quote from an extremely popular fascist radio talk show host in New York.  Again, not a matter of class envy, however.  A matter of gross injustice.

Today, labor is routinely denied retirement benefits promised at the time of employment, now reneged.  Health care coverage is an exponentially decreasing and disappearing benefit as insatiably greedy healthcare providers loot anyone and everyone they can, including employers.  Consequently, health insurance can no longer be expected as part of many, if not most, compensation packages.

While the Fascist Right bitterly complains of Medicare, Medicaid, and other government health benefit programs, an increasing number of our population goes without adequate healthcare.  Over 40 million of us are not insured.  The ultimate cost to taxpayers will be astronomical unless badly-needed changes are quickly implemented.

So too, the elderly are growing increasingly poorer as corporations renege on promised retirement benefits, -- as executive management salary, perqs, and bonuses go through the roof.  Again, not class envy, but egregious class injustice.  In Nazi America.

Coup de grat?  The Mayor disingenuously accused transit workers of compromising public safety.  ... Hey, Mikey?  You could have wisely agreed to keep retirement benefits unchanged.  There would have been no strike had you done so, Mr. Mayor.  As you well know, it was not about money, sir, but what happens to workers after they're put out to pasture to die.

House One-Ups Senate On "Patriot" Act December 22, 2005

Not to be outdone, the House refused to pass the six month USA "Patriot" Act extension "compromise" passed by the Senate late last night.  Appears now this outrageously unconstitutional law, a deliberate attack on civil and constitutional rights and liberties, will only be renewed for five weeks.  To allow further time for "compromise."  The "President" has few options and will likely agree to sign it.  In Nazi America.

Senate Capitulates On "Patriot" Act December 22, 2005

Late last night, the Senate gutlessly succumbed to enormous pressure from the "President" to renew the USA "Patriot" Act.  This outrageously unconstitutional law, designed to cleverly abrogate civil and constitutional rights and liberties, will apparently be renewed for another six months.

The "President" has reportedly reluctantly agreed to the "compromise" and will go along.
-- Nice of him, isn't it?  Sixteen of the most egregious provisions will continue to be in effect.  Such as government goon warrantless access to health, business, employment, and library patron records.  And secret searches and seizures of personal and business property without ever having to tell the victims, -- or produce a warrant.  In Nazi America.

FISA Judge Resigns In Protest December 21, 2005

Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court Judge James Robertson, appointed in 1994, resigned in protest over profound dismay, concern the super secret FISA Court was used to illicitly "manufacture" warrants on warrantless searches, illegally conducted by government operatives.

That is, the Court was apparently used to facilitate illegal intelligence laundering by the Bush "Administration."  The resigned judge has remained tight-lipped, but apparently other judges on the court share similar concerns.

Be quite interesting to see what develops, or whether this will also be excused by shills of the "President" who myopically believe he can do no wrong.  -- Another chilling indication the "President" has become a law unto himself with no regard for the Constitution.

"Intelligent Design" Thrown Out December 20, 2005

Judge Johnny Jones III ruled "Intelligent Design" must not be taught as science in biology classrooms.  The ruling resulted from a lawsuit litigated in Dover, Pa.. -- Where the entire school board, determined to teach "Creation" as science, was recently given the boot by voters.

Interestingly, the judge was quite pointed regarding the lack of honesty of proponents, making it abundantly clear he believed their true agenda was religious, not scientific.  He's right.  The former Board was hell bound to re-introduce religion to the public schools.

Amusingly, the judge is a Bush appointee.  Who'd a' 'thunk' it?  Joking aside, the "President" and his henchmen were apparently duped, falsely believing Jones to be a fascist compadre.  Certainly, not the first time, a Republican or Democratic President has been bamboozled by a judicial appointment that did not turn out quite as expected.

"Intelligent Design" is a rehashed progeny of "Creationism."  It is religion, not science.  To mix both is to denigrate each.  As justice, so must science be blind in its approach to truth that's objectively sought, not influenced by religion, politics, political correctness, or any other agenda, hidden or otherwise.

To date, proponents of "Intelligent Design" have presented no viable, bona fide, scientific evidence of their beliefs.  They cannot.  Why?  Their "theory" is religious, not scientific in nature.

Conversely, evolution is indeed well-supported scientifically by nearly two hundred years of research.  Ironically, opponents myopically ignore the best evidence of ongoing evolution.
-- The mutation of bacteria and viruses far more resistant to conventional drugs and treatment.  Quite a growing problem of immense implications.

To say nothing of the most famous vestigial organ of all, the human appendix.  An organ that lost its original functionality through evolution, likely to disappear from human anatomy at some point in the future.

Remember the pronounced hoarseness of the late ABC News anchor Peter Jennings who recently died of lung cancer?  The hoarseness was reportedly caused by a voice box nerve that is unnecessarily long and convoluted in our species.  "Intelligent Design" cannot account for this extraordinary inefficiency of design.

Evolution can.  Nothing in nature is perfect.  Quite the opposite.  If the human body was "intelligently designed," why is it so susceptible to disease and breakdown?  From Day 1 to the grave?  The theory of evolution can explain this.  "Intelligent Design" cannot.

Most people have no idea well over 90% of the same DNA is shared by humans and apes.  Evolution hypothesizes this suggests a common ancestor still not found by scientists.  "Intelligent Design" has no viable explanation.

In nature, specifically in the animal world, young female mammals at the time of puberty are most likely to be impregnated, thus ensuring survival of the species.  Sadly, evolution and survival of the species suggests this certainly not-so-acceptable explanation of why so many older men hit on teenage girls, sexually.

Yes, we like to think of ourselves as more than animals.  Yet, animals we are.  Yes, we should aspire to be far more.  Yes, older males preying on teenage girls is unacceptable.  Sadly and clearly, however, the theory of evolution explains this unlawful predilection of many in society.  "Intelligent Design" does not.

All examples just discussed only scratch the surface.  There are many, many more examples.  Coup de grat?  If evolution does not exist, why are health professionals so concerned mutation of the Avian bird flu does not enable easy human to human infection?

Do believers in "Intelligent Design" consequently refuse to get a flu shot each winter?  After all, flu vaccine must change year to year because of evolution of the flu virus.  Even the common cold has not and cannot be easily vaccinated against because of the constant evolution of the cold virus.

While the theory of evolution indeed has gaps, so does our knowledge of brain surgery and every other scientific and engineering discipline.  Does that mean that brain surgeons should not do surgery?  That chemists and biologists should not continue to do research and invent new compounds and drugs, etc.?  A gap in the theory of evolution is no indication it is false.  It simply means it is not yet complete.

"Intelligent Design" belongs in church, not the biology classroom.  It is religion masquerading as science.  When, or if, "Creationists" bring bona fide scientific evidence to scientists, that evidence will be carefully and objectively evaluated.  Until then, it remains religion.

That is not to say, however, there is no Creator, -- just that science cannot at least at this time confirm his or her existence.  Regardless, the function of science is study of the universe, not the metaphysical or spiritual.  Science currently does not have the tools.  Hopefully, at some point in the future that will change, -- despite reservations of many in the scientific community of the possibility.

Sadly, the Fascist Right embraces a "Christian" theocracy as part of its agenda, conveniently and myopically ignoring the fact the colonists indeed left Europe some 500 years ago precisely to escape such repressive religion.  Abusive religion that is once again rearing its ugly head in our once great country in the form of Right Wing fascism.

It does not believe in church-state separation as prescribed by the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.  Exactly, why it is so desperate to re-introduce religion to the public school classroom.  Callously, willing to do so under false pretenses, vis a vis, "Intelligent Design."

Amusingly, however, a Bush judicial appointee blew the whistle, and called the Fascist Right on its egregiously duplicitous deception.  That is, re-introducing religion into public schools, falsely under the ruse of "science."  ... Think Chief "Justice" John Roberts, another Bush appointee, will similarly surprise the "President?"  Can only hope, -- and pray.

ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions

The following is a series of unedited email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and this writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year ago.  To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint filed.  Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues, -- or is wildly incompetent.  You decide.  ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions
