This publication has been in suspension since March 2003 for reasons fully explained on the Home Page.  Much has happened in the United States, as well as the rest of the world, since the last edition.  ... Sadly, most of it disturbing.  Until return to online publication, the format will remain as follows.    T.C. December 12, 2005

Publisher's Note: This publication receives no financial support through advertising.  Although shaken down, looted, and abused by corrupt government, area businesses remain unwilling to stand up.  Locals are too gutless to donate financially, cowardly fearing retribution.  For this publication to survive, national readers need to contribute.  Liberty In Peril is, has been, and will always remain beholden to NO ONE. -- Precisely why there is no financial assistance.  ... From day of launch and certainly a no-brainer to this very day, firmly resolved to walk away first rather than compromise principle. -- To the chagrin of many and delight of few.    T.C. (12-12-05).

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham Shines December 11, 2005

Watch Meet The Press with Tim Russert this morning?  South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham eloquently defended the effort of Sen. John McCain to force an amendment to a defense spending bill that would proscribe torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners by American personnel both here and abroad.

Graham was clearly at his best.  Magnificently and eloquently stated the case even better than Sen. John McCain, a former POW tortured by the North Vietnamese decades ago.  Both Republican Senators are proof positive not all members of the GOP are Right Wing fascists.

Hopefully, the moderate center of the party will eventually prevail and finally beat back the worst offenders such as the "President," Sen. Majority Leader Frist, former House Majority Leader Cong. Tom DeLay, and a number of others who have moved so far to the Right, Hitler and Mussolini would have been proud.  ... Whatever the hell happened to the Republican Party?

USA "Patriot" Act To Be Renewed December 7, 2005

Apparently, the "President" has successfully manipulated Congress into renewing the USA "Patriot" Act.  There is, however, the threat of a filibuster.  A House-Senate conference committee has reportedly agreed to a renewal bill that would extend most of the outrageously unconstitutional provisions.  Such as secret searches of residences and businesses without a warrant, access to medical, library, employee records, etc.,  -- again, with no warrant.  For four more years.  In addition, some sixteen other provisions would become permanentIn Nazi America.

Saddam Boycotts Trial December 7, 2005

Having told the "Judge" to go to hell yesterday and promising not to return to "court," the brutal former dictator made good on his threat.  Without him, the "trial" went on with additional unidentified, electronically voice-altered "witnesses" hidden by a screen giving "testimony" that failed to link the admittedly barbaric dictator with unspeakable acts of torture and abuse.

To do so, however, the prosecution must prove he gave the order.  Doesn't matter, really.  They'll still execute the barbaric bastard without even the pretense of a fair trial.  Dragging Saddam shackled and chained into "court" would belie a fair, open trial.  Conversely, his glaring absence equally demonstrates the outrageously "kangaroo" nature of the court.  -- Set up and orchestrated by an American "advisor."

Either way, ole' George "The Tush" and his installed Iraqi stooges lose in the arena of world opinion.  Damned aggressively stupid.  The fascist occupying the White House would have been far better served had American forces killed the former dictator, gutlessly hiding in his spider hole.  -- Cowardly, unwilling to die fighting American troops while urging his minions to do so.

The rushed, rigged, kangaroo "trial" of a dictator abroad, directed by an American "advisor," though, is truly indicative of the "President's" profound disdain for justice and rule of law.  Not surprising, however, coming from a fascist who holds "detainees" for years without access to courts and attorneys domestically, "renders" kidnapped terrorist "suspects" to Third World countries to be abused and tortured by their "interrogators," and erects secret CIA-established prisons overseas where still other kidnapped terrorist "detainees" can be abused, tortured, and reportedly killed by American operatives.

Saddam Trial Presses On December 6, 2005

The trial of Saddam Hussein resumed yesterday with fireworks in the courtroom and a walk out by chagrined defense attorneys.  After an hour passed, the "Judge" reversed his refusal to allow counsel to challenge the legitimacy of the court.  Not to be outdone, Saddam frequently interrupted proceedings with objections and laughed during graphic testimony of witnesses.

Today, testimony continued from a woman who was hidden behind a screen with voice electronically altered to prevent disclosure of identity.  -- While the kangaroo charade of a trial apparently continues at the direction of an American "advisor."

Amusingly, the orchestrator of the "trial" apparently was chagrined when the interpreter continued relaying Saddam's outbursts to the media, -- after the dictator's microphone was shut off in an effort to muzzle him and prevent communication with the Iraqi public.  ... Nothing quite like open court and free speech, no?

How can anyone, including a brutal dictator, receive a fair trial when identities of witnesses are not disclosed and "testimony" from deceased "witnesses" is allowed?  Where counsel cannot cross-examine in the case of the dead, or adequately prepare for cross-examination, not knowing the identity and background of all witnesses?

Does the fascist in the White House, ultimately directing this showpiece "trial," really believe the world will accept this charade of "justice?"  Will American credibility and prestige be restored in the world community as a result?  Will the killing of the brutal dictator, courtesy of a kangaroo trial, be one of America's greatest moments?  A shining example of pristine American justice at its very best?  Or Nazi America at its worst?

Cong. Tom DeLay Wins One, Loses One December 5, 2005

Interestingly, semi-retired San Antonio Judge Priest threw out the DeLay conspiracy indictment, but ruled the former Republican House Majority Leader must stand trial on money laundering charges.

ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions

The following is a series of unedited email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and this writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year ago.  To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint filed.  Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues, -- or is wildly incompetent.  You decide.  ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions
