Veterans Day 2005 November 11, 2005

Every day is the time to honor our servicemen and women.  Veterans Day, November 11, however, is traditionally set aside to celebrate countless millions who served since the founding of our country.  They bled, suffered, and died fighting for the United States and U.S. Constitution.  For our freedom.  Civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

Many returned from battle maimed.  Many are currently homeless.  More than a few suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.  Many are receiving grossly inadequate medical and psychiatric care.  So much so, a group of these magnificent men walked some 260 miles from Edinburg in South Texas to the San Antonio city limits to lobby for a badly-needed veterans hospital in South Texas.  ... Where they were greeted by San Antonio's "finest," November 10, and ordered to stop.  -- They had no permit.  Had posted no bond.

... Veterans needed no "permit" or "bond," -- other than their word, during the Bataan Death March.  No "permit" or "bond" was required or necessary when they stormed countless Pacific islands, fighting, bleeding, and dying every step of the way.

Nor did they need any, -- fighting, bleeding, and dying at Normandy, throughout France, Germany, Italy, Pork Chop Hill in Korea, Hamburger Hill in Vietnam, more recently in Desert Storm, most recently in Afghanistan, on the road to Baghdad, in the streets of Baghdad, and many, many, many other places too numerous to mention.

They did at the city limits of San Antonio, however.  The stand-off lasted two hours before the Mayor wisely and happily intervened, bringing this outrageous fiasco to a halt.  Heroically, he and other city officials apparently abrogated an outrageously unconstitutional city ordinance to allow the march to proceed.  One city official reportedly joined it.  Their courage is remarkable.  Hat's off to the Mayor and others. Despite the law, they did the right thing.

The First Amendment is under vicious attack.  Not only are reporters jailed in our formerly great country for refusing to name sources, church-state separation also mandated by the First Amendment is under direct assault.

So is freedom of speech of those opposed to the fascist occupying the Oval Office and his policies.  So, now, are veterans who were recently temporarily denied their right to assemble, march, and petition government for redress of grievances in San Antonio.  Indeed, a sad, sad day in Nazi America.

All civil and constitutional rights and liberties are under ferocious attack in our formerly great country by the Fascist Right and its shills.  The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments, for all practical purposes, no longer exist.

-- Thanks to the USA "Patriot" Act, Homeland "Security" Act, "Real" ID Act, etc., and numerous equally unconstitutional Executive Orders signed by the fascist occupying the White House.  Unless this intentional, deliberate, calculated abrogation of rights and liberties, falsely in the name of "national 'security'" is quickly reversed, a repeat of 1776 will become inevitable.

While our beloved Flag is indeed tattered, torn, bloodied, and soiled, it must not be trampled or hijacked by the Nazi Right.  Otherwise, all blood spilled on all the battlefields over all the years will have been for absolutely nothing.

Bush Veterans Day Speech Assails War Critics November 11, 2005

Coming out swinging, "President" Bush excoriated Iraq war critics during a Veterans Day speech, claiming they're re-writing history and hindering the war effort.  Imagine that.  How so, George?  There were no weapons of mass destruction as falsely rumored by you and your cronies.  In fact, one of them, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, falsely claimed he knew exactly where they were.  He lied.  So did others in your "Administration," including "Vice President" "Slick Dick" Cheney.

No one, to date, in the "intelligence" community or "Administration" has been held accountable for this faulty information, conveniently used as pretext for war.  No one.  It does not matter in the least foreign intelligence agencies in England, France, Israel, and elsewhere were similarly duped and equally wrong about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.  It only matters that ours were.  -- Supposedly, the best, money could buy.  To the tune of untold billions annually.

You made absolutely no attempt to determine precisely who was responsible for this colossal "intelligence" failure.  Why?  Is it because you and your henchmen pressured "intelligence" agencies to manufacture false evidence to "justify" your unjust, unprovoked attack on Iraq?  Demonstrably executed under egregiously false pretenses?

There are only two credible possibilities, Mr. "President."  Both chillingly ominous.  Either the "intelligence" services are hopelessly inept and an enormous waste of billions of dollars, or you deliberately manipulated them to get "evidence" you desperately needed as pretext for war.  Either way, the country is in a shambles as a result.  ... There is a third remote possibility truly unthinkable.  -- The "intelligence" services are hopelessly inept and the "President" deviously took advantage of it.

If these agencies are indeed a miserable failure, those responsible must be quickly identified and immediately removed from power.  National security demands it.  Your failure to act to date, however, is strong indication you likely manipulated, strong-armed these agencies to extort false information you desperately needed as a ruse for war.  ... Despite findings of two "investigations" to the contrary.  Either way, both countries are screwed, and you sir, have disgraced yourself.

You have no credibility, Mr. "President."  None.  Your word means absolutely nothing.  You lie like hell to cover your cowardly ass.  You continuously and conveniently move the goal posts to suit your purposes.  You disingenuously claim Iraq is now the center of the war against terror.  Indeed.  It has become so because of your unprovoked attack, invasion, and occupation of a sovereign nation who was no threat to anyone other than its own people.

Ominously and foolishly, you've deliberately created a mecca for terrorism in Iraq that did not exist before the invasion.  -- An aggressively stupid establishment of a training ground for insurgents who sadly but brilliantly kill and maim American soldiers one by one.  ... How do you sleep nights, Mr. "President?"  Is selfishly getting your cookies off in such fashion worth the carnage?

The war was lost before the invasion.  Our military had no chance.  Not enough manpower.  Inadequate armor and equipment.  American war profiteers.  Little support from the Iraqi population itself, -- that supposedly would greet American invaders as liberators with flowers and chocolates.  Instead, our best and brightest have been mercilessly killed and maimed.  Your most loyal, selfless, caring minions betrayed by their "Commander In Chief" for self-serving political reasons.

The attacks have grown far deadlier and increasingly frequent.  The killing of innocent Iraqis, deliberately by insurgents and inadvertently by American military personnel, is worse than that which occurred during the brutal regime of the deposed dictator. Only one Iraqi battalion is battle-ready after two and a half years.  ... Over 2,050 Americans killed in action and approximately 15,000 maimed.  -- Tens of thousands of Iraqis dead, many more maimed.

For what, Mr. "President?"  To cover your self-serving, sorry, political ass, sir?  How many more will be killed and maimed before you finally admit the war was a colossal mistake?  How much longer will you cowardly indulge the delusion things are going swimmingly and progress is indeed being made?  No one believes it any longer, sir.  Not even your henchmen.  Certainly, the American public has turned on the war.

You disingenuously pronounce increasing criticism to be "deeply irresponsible" and "hindering" the war effort.  Is that right, sir?  Where have we heard this hollow rhetoric before, Mr. "President?"  The same old tired BS recycled once again from another failed war some 30 to 40 years ago?  Had there been no criticism then, the Vietnam War would likely have continued to this very day.

Mr. "President," it's cowardly and "irresponsible" to blame increased protest for a failed, ill-advised, unjust war, -- that had no chance of success from day one.  Time to truly accept "personal responsibility," -- usually conveniently and cowardly reserved for the unwashed masses, for this enormous failure and egregious lapse of "Presidential" judgment.  Immediately withdraw.  Should collaborating Iraqis be killed as a result, why would you care?  Your predecessors certainly didn't in Vietnam.

Presidents Nixon and Ford had two years and three months after liberation of American POWs to evacuate South Vietnamese nationals who had aided us during the war.  Over two years to evacuate all who would have been killed prior to withdrawal of American forces.  ... What could have been an orderly, well-organized, compassionate retreat and evacuation, never occurred.  Both Presidents did little to nothing.

-- Other than watch American military personnel smash their rifle butts against the fingers of Vietnamese allies desperate to get on board choppers leaving the war zone for the last time.  A sad, sad day in American history and an enormous unforgivable unnecessary disgrace.  Directly due to the fact neither President had the guts to admit a mistake had indeed been made prosecuting the war.

Precisely why although some were evacuated prior to the mad dash to get out, hundreds of thousands of our friends were left behind to be killed, beaten, imprisoned, or "re-programmed" by victorious communists, -- whose tanks were at the gates of the Presidential Palace as the last American choppers flew off.

Wake up, Mr. "President."  Return to reality.  Don't cowardly blame the messengers for the message.  Embrace the truth.  Make the changes.  Before too late.  Take "personal responsibility" and finally do what's honorable, -- resign in disgrace.

Before the invasion, the Bush "Administration" made five key assertions that turn out to be devastatingly and demonstrably false.  First, there were no weapons of mass destruction.  Second, our troops were not greeted as liberators and there's been no wide-spread support by the Iraq population for the occupation.

Third, the war did not pay for itself through Iraqi oil revenues.  Fourth, the price of imported oil did not drop.  Fifth, and most important of all, there has been no establishment of an independent democratic republic in Iraq that was to be a shining example in the Middle East.

Rather, the government formed is ostensibly and demonstrably a theocracy with a state religion.  Women remain second class citizens subject to repressive Islamic law.  Men are also subject, to a lesser degree, to this very same exceptionally repressive religious system.

The insurgency has sadly grown exponentially and attacks have substantially increased.  Regarding U.S. troop withdrawal, there is no light at the end of the tunnel.  No exit strategy.  The "Administration" admits the war could continue another ten years or more.  Worst of all, Iraq has turned into a training ground for terrorists.

-- Insurgents, who continue to sadly pick off our troops one by one, and are then exported to other countries to kill and maim.  To date, the invasion has backfired.  Yet, the "President" will not admit the truth the rest of the country and the world already knows.

The war against terrorism cannot be won in Iraq, Afghanistan, or elsewhere.  It will be won when the United States finally adopts an even-handed approach in the Middle East vis a vis Israel and Palestine, finally becomes energy independent, and removes all troops from Muslim territory.  Only then, will mainstream Islam itself reject, and thus defeat, bin Laden and al Qaeda. Only then, will the wind be finally removed from al Qaeda's sails.

Yes, terrorist die-hards will continue to have to be rooted out and killed or captured one by one, but the worst will have been over.  We created this monster through decades of indifference, ignorance, and a blind eye to abuse in the Middle East.  We're now paying the piper for that baneful neglect.  The "President's" short-sighted, self-serving policies, however, will only prolong the misery indefinitely, -- until pending mid-term elections here next fall kick in politically and force at least, partial withdrawal.  ... Foolishly energizing our enemies even more.

"Intelligent Design" Vs. Evolution November 10, 2005

Recently, Dover, PA has been front and center, at the heart of an "Intelligent Design" vs. evolution lawsuit.  Interestingly, all eight Dover school board members, the entire board, got the boot from voters last Tuesday.  All eight strongly supported "Intelligent Design" and were consequently sued.  All eight were subsequently dumped by the voters.  Tough, isn't it?  ... A badly-needed return to sanity?  Can only hope so.

Not the case for televangelist Pat Robertson, however.  The clever "good" pastor claims Dover voters rejected God.  ... Is that right, Pastor?  -- Does this deluded sick soul also believe the world to be flat?  Joking aside, evolution is well-supported scientific theory.

Even the extremely conservative Roman Catholic Church has recognized this indisputable fact for many, many years, -- believing God to have worked within the framework of this well-established theory to create.  ... A Creator, creating via scientific theory, ostensibly natural law, he/she originally earlier established as a guideline to creation.

At some point in evolution, the Church believes the Creator to have instilled man with a soul.  The Church understands there are numerous contradictions and inconsistencies in the Bible if it is interpreted literally.  Consequently, it tends to view the Bible as a series of parables, exaggerated by the writers to make a point.

Therefore, it does not believe in literally stoning adulterers, fornicators, and gays as prescribed by Leviticus.  It does not believe people should literally pluck out an eye if it offends, as prescribed by Christ.  It certainly realizes an "eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" would result in billions of blind and toothless people.

Without question, scientific evidence does not support Biblical accounts of Creation.  Simply put, the universe and man were not created in seven days.  The earth is billions of years old, -- not under 10,000.  Scientifically, indisputable.

Those who do, clearly have a religious agenda.  Are desperate to force their scientifically unsubstantiated religious views on others, falsely calling them "science."  "Intelligent Design," i.e. "Creationism," is a religious doctrine that rightfully has its place in church, not taught as scientific theory in the schools.  It's basis is religious, not scientific.

Pat Robertson, the sad sick soul who lines his pockets and runs the 700 Club, went on to counsel the people of Dover not turn to God in the event of disaster, since they'd just supposedly rejected him (God) from their city.  Instead, he advised them to turn to Charles Darwin, the father of evolution.

This sad sick soul cleverly creates God in his pathetic, narrow, vindictive image.  Haughtily, falsely limits the Creator to his own myopic vision of reality.  The people of Dover did not reject God.  Rather, they rejected the fascists who deliberately created a Supreme Being in their perverse hopelessly intolerant image, -- not the other way around.

"Keystone" Republicans Demand Investigation November 10, 2005

For the last several days, frenzied Congressional Republicans have been fretfully demanding an investigation of a leak disclosing existence of CIA-established prisons overseas.

-- Where "detainees" are reportedly routinely tortured and abused.  ... After vanishing from their communities throughout the world.

Two problems.  First, one Republican amazingly claimed it is highly likely the leak originated within their party.  ... Say it 'ain't' so.  Couldn't be, could it?

Second, a number of Republicans claim there ought to be an investigation of the CIA-established prisons themselves.  ... You think?

Oil Executives "Grilled" November 9, 2005

Republican senators, alarmed at increasing political damage done the GOP by insatiably greedy oil companies, hauled top corporate executives before Congress.  The Republican-controlled Senate however, to the profound dismay of Democrats, refused to put these officials under oath.  Why?

Consequently, the hopelessly greedy had no reason to tell the truth, -- and surprise, surprise, did not. Why should they?  Aryan arrogantly, the lying bastards refused to take any responsibility for price gouging, i.e. legalized extortion and theft.  Again, why should they?  "Personal responsibility" is conveniently reserved for the unwashed.  Certainly, not top corporate management or government.

Not surprisingly, all five officials scoffed at a windfall profits tax, -- or returning a portion of record-breaking profits to the elderly and poor to ease pending record-breaking winter heating costs they deliberately and self-servingly generated.   Again, why should they?  They do what they want.  After all, this is free enterprise.  Corporations are free to loot.  Right?

It's the American way.  The "free" market.  Not to worry.  The market will ultimately take care of every abuse, including shameless gouging.  A basic principle of Economics 101.  ... Don't you understand?

In a capitalistic system, which certainly benefits the vast majority, businesses indeed have not only the right, but duty, to mercilessly loot those on the bottom.  Again, the American way.  How else can management and shareholders get rich, and remain so?  Why tamper with what clearly works?

After all, this is America.  Peasants have the right to take the bus, bicycle, or walk to work for whatever insatiably greedy businesses are willing to pay.  Don't like it?  Starve.  ... Or sheepishly go to work for another company engaging in the same, exact business practices.

After all, it's the patriotic thing to do, isn't it?  Why have it any other way?  It's your duty to quietly and respectfully take the shaft.

No corporate official should ever have to forfeit millions in salary and bonuses earned.  Unthinkable.  Un-American.  Don't like the unabashed, unvarnished, recent f**king by the energy industry?  Tough.  Shut up.  Remain silent.  Buck up.  Don't rock the boat.  Don't join a union.  -- Wisely, condemn them.

Don't ask for an increase in the minimum wage, or expect one.  You don't deserve it.  Are not entitled.  Certainly, not worthy.  No matter what, never, ever support a livable wage.  Again, you don't deserve it.  Management does.  So do shareholders.

... Should you be adequately and fairly compensated, corporate officials and shareholders would be forced to forfeit a portion of the loot.  Unthinkable.  Un-American.  More importantly, management and capital produce profits.  Workers don't.  Never have, right?

Limitless loot is good.  So is greed.  So is pretense, unadulterated BS, and disingenuously self-serving, clever distortion of reality.  It's the American way.  As American as Mom and apple pie.  Why change anything?  After all, it works.  Magnificently.

Evangelist preachers tell us so every Sunday morning.  ... While laughing their financially portly asses off all the way to the bank Monday.  -- Properly giving thanks, of course, on bended knee to the Creator for their good fortune.  Wouldn't have it any other way, would you?

Above all, when you see the ungreased shaft coming your way, rejoice.  Cheerfully, drop your drawers, grab your ankles, and praise Corporate America for the right, no the privilege, of taking one for the Gipper.

Sleep secure in certainty no oil chief executive will forfeit $57 million bonuses granted at least one CEO in the last 90 days.  God bless America, corporate management, and shareholders.  The hell with the peasants who do the work.  Let 'em cake, right?

As biting as this hyperbolic satirical commentary certainly is, capitalism and the business community are vital to our formerly great country.  Employer-employee relations are perpetually strained in a "free"-enterprise system.

-- No question, the very best system, benefiting the most, ever devised.  Businesses are always favored in such a system.  By definition.  ... Nowhere near the level presently, however.

It's time for the pendulum to finally swing back before too late and revolution becomes inevitable.  The middle class and the impoverished are under ferocious attack. The economy is quickly becoming a zero-sum game with an increasingly smaller minority nearly looting it all.

The middle class, backbone of the economy, is consequently disappearing.  The economic dichotomy is starker than ever, -- the "haves" vs. "have-nots."  Unless this is remedied, crime will worsen and armed revolution will be inevitable.

Kicker?  Republicans were so concerned with maintaining the image of oil company executives, they limited each senator's questioning to five minutes.  In view of this and the sad fact they would not place oil executives under oath, why didn't Democrats and a few honorable Republicans walk out?

Are they all, every damned one of them, bought and paid for?  Apparently, so.  ... Don't like the rhetoric? Tough.  Leave the country.  Iraq, Iran, Syria, North Korea, China, etc., might be more to your liking.  Enjoy.  Rejoice.  ... Knowing for sure, all is well in Nazi America.  Where day is night, night is day, and manure smells perversely sweet.

Kansas Board Of Education Sets Back Clock November 9, 2005

The Kansas State Board of Education recently voted to allow biology teachers to teach "Intelligent Design" in their classrooms.  All six Republican fascists on the ten-member board voted to turn back the clock 80 years.  "Intelligent Design" is regurgitated "Creationism."  The Kansas Board of Education desperately wants religious doctrine to be taught as an alternative to science in the classroom.  Pathetic.  ... Do these outrageously ignorant fascists still believe the earth to be flat?

Election Blues For GOP November 9, 2005

Not a good election day for Republicans nationwide.  The GOP lost both gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia.  ... Two of the dirtiest in history.  The Terminator in California, "Gov. Barney Arney," got his clock cleaned with the loss of four labor-busting propositions he desperately needed and wanted.  Tough, isn't it?

... Not that the Democrats are any better.  -- Interestingly, even the Terminator's wife, Democrat Kennedy klan member Maria Shriver, sat out the campaign.  ... Be fascinating to be a fly on the wall in their house, wouldn't it?

Eight fascist school board members in Dover, PA who support the teaching of "Intelligent Design" got the boot from voters.  The entire board.  -- Dover has recently been at the heart of an "Intelligent Design" vs. evolution lawsuit.  With such election results, could it be an indication the Dover community is finally returning to sanity?  Certainly, hope so.

Bigotry Constitutionalized In Texas November 8, 2005

Indeed, a sad, sad day for the former great state of Texas.  Homophobic bigotry has been constitutionalized by 1.7 million fascists in Texas who voted for Proposition 2.  76% For, 24% Against.  In Nazi America.  Consequently, gays will indefinitely continue to be denied the same rights afforded the rest of us.

"Christian" churches brilliantly coerced their members to get out and vote prejudice into the Texas Constitution.  The IRS should immediately examine the tax exempt status of these politically active churches.

One bright spot is the vote of UT students in Austin.  Apparently, 90% voted against this outrageous constitutionalization of bigotry.  ... At least the young may be finally getting the message, -- hopelessly ignored by their Fascist Right, most un-Christian elders.

Future generations will sadly look back at this latest perverse travesty of justice, appalled at the egregious abrogation of civil and constitutional rights.  Falsely, in the name of "religion" and "morality."  With profound shame.  ... As previous generations have in reaction to slavery, and incarceration of Japanese-Americans in U.S. internment camps during the Second World War.

Interestingly, Travis County was the only Texas county to reject this "Defense of Marriage" proposition abomination, 60% against.  -- Sadly, the only oasis of decency, civil and constitutional rights in the formerly great state of Texas.

... Don't like the rhetoric?  Leave the country.  Iraq, Iran, Syria, North Korea, China, etc., would be more to your liking.

Bush "Condemns" Torture But Wants CIA Exemption November 7, 2005

"President" Bush has an exceptionally well-cultivated penchant for talking out both sides of his mouth.  In South America, the "Chief Executive" strongly condemned torture and ill-treatment of "detainees," -- while seeking an exemption for the Central Intelligence Agency.  ... 'Ain't' hypocrisy grand?

IRS Threatens All Faith Episcopal Church November 7, 2005

The Internal Revenue Service has threatened to remove the tax exempt status of All Faith Episcopal Church in California.  Seems the church had the audacity to question the "President's" policies in Iraq.

IRS policy on tax exempt status is two-pronged.  First, churches must not involve themselves in political campaigns.  Second, they must not engage in "substantial" activity influencing legislation.

The outrageously corrupt and abusive bastards at IRS have conveniently ignored the political activities of evangelistic Fascist Right churches for decades.  Consequently, the Right has been brilliantly successful in forcing the Republican takeover of all three branches of government.

... When the Center and Left fight back and challenge the fascist currently occupying the White House, amusingly from the pulpit of a California church, IRS retaliates and threatens removal of tax exempt status.  Convenient, isn't it?  ... While ignoring churches in Texas who shamelessly back the constitutionalization of homophobic bigotry via Proposition 2, banning gay marriage.
-- Already outlawed in our formerly great state.  Interesting, isn't it?

IRS must equitably enforce tax exempt status, and carefully remove tax breaks for all churches who violate that status, -- Left, Right, or Center.  Should it do so, nearly all evangelistic churches would quickly wind up paying taxes, since most shamelessly engage in direct political activity.  ... With a wink and nod, of course.  In Nazi America.

Supreme Court Takes Case On Tribunals November 7, 2005

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a case challenging Bush "Administration's" plans to conduct military tribunals on "detainees" held for years with no access to attorneys and the courts.  Recently confirmed Chief "Justice" John Roberts, as an appeals court "judge," voted to authorize the "President" to do so and will likely recuse himself from the case.

Sadly, these tribunals are an exquisite example of kangaroo justice, appropriate to Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.  Certainly, not the United States.  Prisoners are not afforded rights Americans are entitled to.  The "President" conveniently controls the "judges" at military tribunals.  They answer to their "Commander In Chief" and no one else.

"Judgments" need not be unanimous.  Hearsay "evidence" is allowed.  There is no appeal to U.S. courts, only to the "President," -- who makes the final decision.  No due process.  Those convicted are summarily executed. In Nazi America.

Equally disturbing?  The Chief "Justice" supports this outrageously unconstitutional brand of kangaroo justice.  -- Infamously imposed during the Second World War on Nazi saboteurs who were German citizens, but allegedly not members of the Nazi army.  Should the United States proceed with the charade of "trials" in Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere, it will be viewed by the world community as no better than the enemy.

ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions

The following is a series of unedited email correspondence between the American Civil Liberties Union and this writer in regard to criminal deletions of Ledger websites over a year ago.  To date, no response, other than a canned autosponder message has been received from national ACLU headquarters to the latest complaint filed.  Apparently, ACLU no longer has any interest in First Amendment issues, -- or is wildly incompetent.  You decide.  ACLU-Criminal Website Deletions
