John Bolton Vote Delayed   May 26, 2005

Democrats successfully delayed the Senate vote on Bush UN Ambassador nominee John Bolton.  Why?  The Bush "Administration" deliberately dragged its feet, failing to release requested secret material regarding the Bolton nomination.  ... Material reportedly highly unflattering to Bolton, and seriously questioning his fitness for office.  -- Can't have that, can we?

Mr. Bolton has a history of bullying underlings, profound contempt for the UN, and pressuring intelligence agencies to "manufacture" "intelligence" supportive of Bush's unprovoked "pre-emptive" attack against Iraq.

Republicans claim the UN is highly in need of radical change, and ole' John is, without question, the perfect man for the job.  Conversely, Democrats assert Bolton is a disaster waiting to happen and would further alienate the world community.

Unquestionably, Mr. Bolton is a useful lapdog to the "President."  -- An unabashed fascist, who would masterfully articulate Mr. Bush's delusions of grandeur worldwide.

Sadly, Bush judicial nominee Priscilla Owen was confirmed by the Senate, 56-43.  "Judge" Owen is a fascist who craftily legislated her perverse "religious" views from the bench in a Texas abortion case.  Her then fellow Texas Supreme Court Justice, Alberto Gonzales, now U.S. Attorney General, accused her at the time of judicial activism.  ... He was right.

In addition, Ms. Owen is exceptionally partial to business interests at the expense of individual rights.  As civil and constitutional rights and liberties, however, continue to be eviscerated by "judges" such as Ms. Owen, the public should not only hold Republicans responsible, but also Democrats who did not have the courage to stand up to the fascist GOP majority in the Senate.

Late this evening, 14 "moderate" Republicans and Democrats reached a "compromise" on judicial filibusters.  Averting a "nuclear meltdown" in the Senate, -- for now.

Three of the worst fascist judicial nominees filibustered will consequently receive an up or down vote.  The other two, supposedly won't.  Democrats will retain the right to filibuster additional judicial nominees only under "extraordinary circumstances."

What does that mean?  The "moderate" 14 claim, as with pornography, they'll know it when they see it.  Will take appropriate action.  ... Aren't we lucky?

Both sides claimed victory.  Interesting, isn't it?  In reality, Democrats capitulated.  To date, only five of 215 Bush judicial nominees have been filibustered.  That is, over 95% of the "President's" "conservative" appointments have already been confirmed by the Senate.

With three of the most fascist nominations due to be subsequently confirmed this week, the statistic will rise to nearly 97%.  Yet, Republicans are unhappy.  They want all confirmed.

Worst of all, the "nuclear option" remains intact, and can be invoked at any time by the GOP.
... Think it won't, when an outrageous fascist is nominated to fill a U.S. Supreme Court vacancy and Democrats balk?

Sadly, seven cowardly Democrats have once again proven their party is no better than the Republicans.  -- Had they stood on principle, they would have dug in their heels and brought all Senate business to a grinding halt.

Instead, they cowardly capitulated, foolishly enabled, and stupidly re-empowered the GOP to fully load the judiciary with Right Wing extremists.  Fascists.  With impunity.  ... Gutlessly, for self-serving political purposes.  A sad, sad day in American history.  In Nazi America.

Ludicrously, Republican Sen. John McCain, head of the "moderate" 14, disingenuously crowed "the people won." Nonsense, Senator.  Unadulterated BS.

What has truly happened is the GOP and "President" have successfully consolidated power, and have come one step closer to permanently eviscerating civil and constitutional rights and liberties.

-- Cunningly, using the judiciary to conveniently rubber stamp the aggressive imposition of fascist principles in our once great country.  Falsely, in the name of national "security."

The American military had its share of character issues recently.  -- Abuses at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, at a POW prison in Afghanistan, etc..  In addition, it lied about the inexistent "heroics" of Pvt. Jessica Lynch at the start of the Iraq fiasco, falsely claiming she went down fighting, emptying her M-16.

None of it was true, yet the military made a hero of Lynch, -- who did not participate in creation of the phony story, nor to her great credit did she embellish her role at the time of capture.

History repeated itself, however, at the time of the death of former NFL football star Pat Tillman.  Tillman left the Arizona Cardinals and became a Ranger to serve his country.  Sadly, Cpl. Tillman was killed in Afghanistan by friendly fire.

Problem?  The Army initially lied, falsely claiming he died heroically saving fellow soldiers.  Turns out, however, he was perversely killed by these very same troops.  -- While frantically trying to get them to stop firing at him.

The cover-up of the truth went up the chain of command.  Yet, no one has been court-martialed, or forced out of the service.  His buddies went so far as to burn his uniform and flak jacket to perpetuate the myth he died as a hero.

The Tillman family, silent in grief for months, finally came out swinging, accusing the military of lying and betraying Cpl. Tillman.  Sadly, they're right.  The Army used Tillman as a poster boy for recruitment.  -- To the point of fabricating the nature of his death.

Although joining the Rangers to serve his country, tragically, Cpl. Tillman did not in reality die for freedom, liberty, and the American Way.  He died for George Bush's sorry ass.

Recently, the services had their recruiters stand down a day.  -- For additional "instructions" on how not to be abusive when signing up recruits.  Can you believe it?  ... While pressure remains higher than ever for recruiters to increase enlistment, in light of seriously sagging recruitment stats as a result of the war.

The military conveniently plays fast and loose with the truth across the spectrum, -- whether in regard to recruitment activities including false promises to potential recruits, right up to phony assessments of military "success" in Iraq.  The ends justify the means, apparently to the armed services.  Precisely, why anything they claim is suspect and up for vigorous debate.

The "President's" shameless abuse of the military and squandering of its resources in Iraq will come back to haunt our formerly great country.  Sadly, Mr. Bush has done more damage to our armed forces than any President in history.

Recruitment is down and military hardware, replenishment, and maintenance are more an issue than ever before.  Citizen soldiers, the backbone of Bush's "war on terror," are suffering great financial loss as homes, businesses, vehicles, etc. are foreclosed and credit ratings permanently compromised while on active duty.

Be interesting to see what the military does when seasoned Reserves and Guardsmen do not re-up.  -- Especially critical, since they're carrying a significant portion of the load.  Only a matter of time before the draft is re-instituted.  Particularly, if our Nazi "President" in a moment of delusional grandeur "pre-emptively" invades Iran, North Korea, or elsewhere.

Pedophile laws across the nation have miserably failed those for whom the statutes were designed to protect.  Most recent and glaring example?  The Mary Kay Letourneau fiasco and her marriage last Saturday to her "victim."

Readers will recall Letourneau was a teacher who repeatedly had sex with an underage student ten years ago.  She was convicted of rape and spent approximately a month and a half in jail.  Upon release, was caught having sex with the same boy in a car, and returned to prison to finish her sentence.  ... They have two children as a result of the "relationship."

Incarcerated approximately seven years, Letourneau was paroled last year.  Although on parole, she was allowed to resume her relationship with the now adult "victim."  Months later, she married the man last Saturday.

Both are likely permanently unemployed, and certainly desperate for money.  Precisely, why they reportedly demanded and received a substantial amount of cash for video rights to the wedding.

The United States is a country with an often amusing contradictory plethora of incompatible and hypocritical views regarding sexuality.  In this case, for example, one extreme wishes to see her hung by her *$!# before summarily executed.  The other believes the "kid got lucky," and wish they had similar good fortune when twelve or thirteen.

The bottom line is the laws don't work.  This phony perverse "marriage" has a snowball's chance.  Regardless, the fact both can in effect be financially compensated for a past illicit underage relationship is appalling.

Interestingly, Europeans have a far more "progressive" attitude towards sexuality, and allegedly have far less of a problem with pedophilia as a result.  Regardless of the need for vigorous prosecution, the ultimate answer to this problem will not come from the law, but from parents.

It is time Mom and Dad take responsibility for the best interests of their children.  Better supervision and greater involvement in their lives is a must.  -- Don't have time? Don't have children.  Give them up for adoption if you already have them and don't have time or interest.  Let someone else do a better job.

Internet-connected computers should not be in a child's room, but in a family area so kids can be carefully monitored.  No underage child should ever be allowed in a chat room, -- one of the easiest targets and venues of a pedophile.

In the Letourneau case, however, the "victim" was betrayed by a trusted adult authority figure, -- his teacher.  Precisely, why parents must do all they can to stay ahead of the curve, and know what's truly going on in their children's lives.

First Lady Laura Bush, on a "goodwill" trip to the Middle East, was aggressively heckled in Jerusalem twice Sunday.  -- Not only by Palestinians, but extremist Israelis as well.  The situation became so dangerous, Mrs. Bush was quickly surrounded by security forces, and hustled away.

Mainstream media glossed over both incidents and did not aggressively question the First Lady, who conveniently brushed off all danger and extent of opposition encountered.

-- One radio news report indicated an Israeli soldier raised his weapon at a kid, until the child ran away.

-- Another man was knocked to the ground by security personnel.  Yet, no mention was made in other reports.  ... So much for a supposedly "liberal" media.

The Bush "Administration" clearly has no clue regarding profound Islamic hostility and unbridled resentment directed against the United States.  Sadly, the "President" dispatched his wife to do an impossible job.  -- A job he should have done himself.

After all, his Aryan arrogance, abject indifference to Arab sensibilities, and resultant Islamic perception of American unevenhandedness in the Middle East are directly responsible for worsening relations.

Yet, Mr. Bush remains blissfully ignorant, hasn't a clue.  Still insists American policy will not change.  -- Despite the fact it is this very same failed policy that is directly causing the violence.  Then again, don't confuse a fascist with the truth.

Mr. Bush myopically believes "democratization" of the Middle East will cure all problems, and magically force all Arabs, all Muslims to ignore a failed American Middle East policy that has gone on since creation of the State of Israel in 1948.  -- A failed unevenhanded policy that has worsened over the decades.

The "President" must indeed truly believe Arabs are hopelessly stupid.  If not, he wouldn't so readily insult their intelligence.  Then again, fascists chronically offer over simplistic analysis and solutions to enormously difficult problems.  Amusingly, do so with a straight face.

Myopically, see things only in terms of right or wrong, black or white.  No shades of gray.  No brilliant hues of color.  -- All or nothing "thinking", incompatibly fatal to effective leadership.  Sadly, "symbolism over substance."  ... To amusingly turn a Limbaugh euphemism on the very same fascist he emulates and worships.  ... Or is it the other way around?

Joking aside, "President" Bush has done enormous damage to American credibility and image abroad.  Will take generations to repair.  Sadly, the dolt is too aggressively stupid and hopelessly ignorant to understand the perverse irony.

That is, he's amusingly ensuring the direct opposite of his claimed intended goals.  -- Not surprising, however, since in the perverse world of the fascist, day is night, night is day, and manure smells sickeningly sweet.  ... Right, George?
