Two Month "Presidential" Social Security Junket March 6, 2005
That's right. Ole' George "The Tush" Bush intends to spend the next two months traveling the country to generate dwindling support for his plans to "revise" Social Security. At taxpayer expense. Why? Why isn't the Republican National Committee footing the bill, reimbursing government for Mr. Bush's political junket?
... And it is a political junket. The Republican Party has desperately striven to "revise", that is eliminate, Social Security the last sixty years. -- Been quite willing to distort reality as necessary to achieve its ends. ... As the "President" did while unsuccessfully running for Congress back in 1978. In fact, the fascist lied, ludicrously and falsely claiming Social Security would be doomed by 1988.
Sadly, both parties continue to conveniently distort reality for political purposes and expediency. -- Carefully twist the truth to score points. Bottom line? Social Security does have impending problems and changes must be made. Now. Not thirty years from now when it will be in crisis.
Both parties, however, gutlessly refuse to answer two questions directly responsible for the impending "crisis." First, why has and does government continue to "borrow" against Social Security funds? Second, why haven't these funds been properly invested since creation of the program some seventy years ago?
A renowned Texas financial planner recently lamented the supposed reluctance of the American people to manage their retirement funds, hence their opposition to the "President's" plans for personal retirement accounts. Not so.
It
is the intentional deliberate
removal of the governmental guarantee of Social
Security income
that is the problem. ... Should the stock market crash, so
would
"personal retirement accounts." Leaving retirees holding the
bag.
Certainly, far more devastating to the poor and middle class than the
rich
in such circumstances. A fact Republicans conveniently
ignore, do
not accept, or give a damn about.
The reportedly "liberal" media is apparently having a change in heart. ... Who'd 'a 'thunk' it? A few pundits now claim the "President" may have been correct in his invasion of Iraq. Is that right? They point to elections in Iraq and Palestine, political unrest in Egypt and Lebanon, etc..
So what? Been problems with these regimes for years, -- and rumblings from discontents in their populations. For quite some time. Conveniently forgotten, there's also a rag tag insurgency continuing to kick some serious American ass in Iraq. ... Sadly, ongoing unabated violence from a determined, profoundly motivated enemy. Conveniently ignored by the Fascist Right and some of their newly converted shills in the media.
Regardless,
democracy should
take root in the Middle East. As quickly as
possible. Should
it take place directly as a result of the
"President's" invasion
of Iraq under false pretenses, however, the ends still don't justify
the
means. ... Mr. Bush will have only gotten lucky,
--
temporarily.
There are always long-term ramifications and consequences for resorting to deceit, indulging in pretense, lying to the people, disingenuously moving the goal posts as necessary to conveniently fit political reality, using force under false pretenses to remove a government unsympathetic to American interests, etc..
Sadly, these ramifications and consequences are loss of trust, devastating perception of the U.S. as an imperialist power ready and willing to impose its will unilaterally with no regard for its allies and world opinion. A power to be rightfully and wisely feared not only by its enemies, but its friends as well. A short-term Pyrrhic victory at best. ... A long-term disaster that will come back to bite its master hard on the ass. At great cost, immense peril.
Before an obviously sympathetic U.S. Supreme Court, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott passionately argued in favor of the constitutionality of the Capitol grounds Ten Commandments monument located in Austin. Sadly, neither Abbott or the Court has apparently read the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
Historically, the presence of Ten Commandments monuments at government institutions across the country did not take on the significance it does today. Neither, did religious inscriptions such as "In God We Trust," etc..
They do today. Why? The Fascist Right, pervasive and insidious throughout the nation, has fervently proclaimed the U.S. a "Christian" country. ... Despite the fact we are a nation of many religions, -- and in some cases, none.
Why is the Right so intent on establishing a "Christian" theocracy in direct opposition to the First Amendment? Again, simple. The establishment of a state religion is a requisite precursor to formal creation of a fascist state. That is, the pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. Justified in principle by perversion and bastardization of religion.
During oral arguments, "Justice" Scalia chillingly opined in our system the minority must put with the majority, and can simply look away if offended by the monument. Sadly, once again Scalia has demonstrated his unfitness for office.
... Hey, Tony baby? The Constitution and Bill of Rights were designed by the Founders to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. It's not the monument that's offensive, sir. It's the imposition of state religion that it represents. Wake up, "Judge." Your ignorance is stunning.
The monuments already properly have a place in our churches and private property. How is it constitutional for government to embrace religion and erect monuments to it on public property? Once again, Scalia is allowing personal views to cloud professional judgment as he perversely "legislates" from the bench.
We already live in an increasingly fascist police state thanks to the militarization of police departments throughout the United States, the USA "Patriot" Act, the Homeland "Security" Act, and other equally unconstitutional statutes and "Presidential" Executive Orders.
The
next step on completing the
process of establishing a fascist state is imposition of state
religion.
Should the Supreme Court rule in favor of Abbott, the U.S. will be well
on its way.

Court Rescinds Juvenile Death Penalty March
1, 2005
The U.S. Supreme Court, 5-4, struck down the death penalty for those under 18 at the time of the offense, ruling it to be cruel and unusual punishment as proscribed by the Eighth Amendment. ... What about those already executed, murdered by the state in the name of the people? ... Prisoners, children at the time of their crime. -- The only supposedly "civilized" country still to do so.
Scalia dissented, strongly claiming the Court is abrogating the will of the people. ... Hey, Tony baby? At one time, people said the same thing about slavery, you jackass. Wake up, "Judge." Your ignorance is appalling, sir.
Scalia's dissent is proof positive of his unfitness for office. Sadly, this sad excuse for a "jurist" does not understand the fact the Constitution and our representative form of government were instituted by the Founders to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. From mob rule.
Mr. Scalia is a fascist who believes in the pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. -- Shamelessly uses perversely bastardized "religious" principles to "justify" severe limiting of civil and constitutional rights and liberties. Hypocritically "legislates" from the bench his perverse and phony "religious" views. ... While disingenuously excoriating others on the Left for doing the same.
Jose Podilla, an American citizen, was arrested in the United States over two and a half years ago. The Bush "Administration" held him as an "enemy combatant," without access to an attorney and the courts. Finally, a federal court ruled the "Justice" Department must either charge or release him. More importantly, it declared the "President" does not have authority to indefinitely hold him. Why in hell has it taken so long? Whatever happened to habeas corpus and due process? The U.S. Constitution? U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, a bona fide fascist unfit to be dog catcher, has announced the Bush "Administration" will appeal the decision. In Nazi America.
