Closet Racism-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott

Racism is alive and well in the United States.  Closet racism.  More difficult to combat than the more overt variety, a la Ku Klux Klan.

On December 5, readers will recall retiring Sen. Strom Thurmond celebrated his 100th birthday on Capital Hill.  Soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott of Mississippi made the following remarks at the festivities: "I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

Big deal?  … So what, you say?  Think again.  In 1948, Mr. Thurmond, then governor of South Carolina, ran for the presidency as the nominee of the Dixiecrat Party.  … A party dedicated to one principle and one principle only, -- segregation.  Raw racism.  Blatant Nazism.  Especially outrageous, since the United States had defeated remarkably similar bigotry just three and a half years earlier, -- the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.

During the course of the campaign, Mr. Thurmond declared: "All the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, our schools, our churches."   Part of the Dixiecrat platform included: "We stand for the segregation of the races and the racial integrity of each race."

Finally realizing the profound enormity of the "gaffe" several days later, Sen. Lott disingenuously asserted early in the day September 9: "My comments were not an endorsement of his positions of over 50 years ago, but of the man and his life."  … Hey, Trent baby?  Same difference, jackass.  Racism was Thurmond's life over fifty years ago.  To his credit, Ole' Strom has publicly repudiated his earlier views.  What the hell is your excuse?

Not surprisingly, Mr. Lott was only repeating history.  At a Mississippi campaign rally for Ronald Reagan in November 1980 after a speech by Thurmond, Mr. Lott crowed to a Jackson crowd: "You know, if we had elected this man 30 years ago, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today."  Riveting, isn't it?

In the 1980s, Lott supported Bob Jones University in its quest to retain tax-exempt status.  … Despite the fact the school had an outrageously racist prohibition on interracial dating.  In a 1981 friend-of-the-court brief, Ole' Trent declared: "Racial discrimination does not always violate public policy."  ... It doesn't, Senator?

Mr. Lott has also voted against an extension of the Voting Rights Act.  ... A statute designed to protect minorities against the murderous actions of racists in the South who had an exceptionally ugly history of doing all they could to prevent Blacks from voting.  Including murder.

With the recent continuing firestorm unabated, the glaringly racist Senator added: "A poor choice of words conveyed to some the impression that I embraced the discarded policies of the past ... Nothing could be further from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement."

Mr. Lott is a liar.  His words cannot reasonably be interpreted any other way but a ringing endorsement of the same old tired Southern racism.  The "gaffe" was no more than an honest revelation of Mr. Lott's true predilections and glaring racism.  A patrician fascist, more concerned with his image and deep pockets than ongoing insidious closet bigotry, -- sadly, very much alive and well in this formerly great country.  Do the honorable thing, Senator.  Resign.  The Senate would be a far better and more honorable institution without you.

Sadly, it took the "President" a week to personally respond to the remarks: "Recent comments by Senator Lott do not reflect the spirit of our country.  Any suggestion that the segregated past was acceptable or positive is offensive and it is wrong.  He has apologized, and rightly so."

Much too little, and way too late, George.  If truly serious, Mr. "President", you would already have publicly urged Mr. Lott to resign in disgrace.  … Not for exercise of free speech guarantied by the First Amendment, but for being grossly unqualified to serve as Senate Majority Leader due to his racist views.  Indeed, unfit to be a United States Senator.

At the time of this writing, Mr. Lott has refused to resign his leadership position.  A remarkably classical example of Aryan arrogance indeed made famous by the Third Reich.  Should Lott remain, would undoubtedly have severe problems of effective leadership.  Certainly, would further erode minority support of the Grand Old Party.  Precisely, why Democrats most likely wish to see the racist not resign, -- at least not for awhile.  ... Milk it for whatever they can get.  Sadly, no better than the Republicans.  ... Can be sure if the shoe were on the other foot, Democrats would have excused and rallied behind a similar offendcr.

Faith-Based Executive Orders

The "President" to date has been unsuccessful in his quest for faith-based legislation.  Congress has wisely balked on enactment of a law that would grossly violate church-state separation as proscribed by the First Amendment.  What to do?  Callously, conduct an end-run around Congress by signing two unconstitutional Executive Orders December 12 that will use taxpayer funds to finance religious groups.  … Part of the "Chief Executive's" desperate agenda to establish a "Christian" theocracy.  Absolutely necessary, if Mr. Bush is to be successful imposing his glaringly fascist agenda.  … How fascists justify their perverse principles, a la Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

Outrageously, the Nazi appointed to the Oval Office has given religious groups financed by taxpayer funds carte blanche to discriminate in their hiring process. Translation?  Government money will be spent on organizations that hire employees of the "proper" "religious" persuasion.  … Others, need not apply.    -- Groups that will ultimately use taxpayer money to unconstitutionally proselytize to the needy in return for a free meal, shelter, etc..  Be interesting to see if and when this outrageous Executive Order is challenged for violating the Civil Rights Act in regard to employment discrimination.  … To say nothing of the First Amendment church-state separation issue.

Reaction from the Center and Left has not been positive.  Americans United for Separation of Church and State Executive Director Rev. Barry W. Lynn declared: "Bush is on a crusade to bring about an unprecedented merger of religion and government.  We will explore every opportunity to challenge this in the courts. Under this scheme, taxpayers will be forced to support churches they don't believe in, and workers will be denied publicly funded jobs because they don't conform to religious mandates…Trent Lott seems to fantasize about rolling back civil rights protections, but the president is actually doing so.  He is rolling back all Americans' civil rights and civil liberties."
No joke, Reverend, no joke.

New York Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler opined the "President" is "legalizing government-funded religious discrimination", further asserting: "The American people should be very scared of what the president has done today."  Indeed, Mr. Nadler, indeed.  It's called fascism and the desperate, deliberate attempt to create a "Christian" theocracy to impose the "President's" extremist agenda.  … And "legitimize" through perverse bastardization of "religion", Mr. Bush's callous attack on liberty and civil and constitutional rights.

The Nazi appointed to the White House justified his outrageously unconstitutional Executive Orders disingenuously, falsely, dishonestly crowing: "Faith-based programs should not be forced to change their character or compromise their mission, and I don't intend to compromise either.  I will continue to work with Congress on this agenda.  But the needs of our country are urgent. And as president, I have an authority I intend to use."

Mr. Bush is a liar.  Could care less about the impoverished.  Only about further consolidation of power and lining the pockets of his insatiably greedy friends in the corporate community.  Has outrageously abused his authority, callously usurped power rightfully belonging to Congress, not the Nazi "President" and his equally glaringly fascist henchmen.  He should be impeached, convicted, and removed from power.  … Regarding "And as president, I have an authority I intend to use," Sieg Heil, Mein FuhrerAmerica Uber Alles.

Stonewalled UN Family-Planning Conference

Not surprisingly, the Bush "Administration" has made a jackass of itself at a United Nations family-planning conference currently being held in Bangkok.  Representatives of the "Administration" are not happy campers, strongly opposed by a majority of the approximately thirty nations attending.  Seems American delegates are not pleased with phrases in the earlier Cairo agreement and want them immediately amended,  -- phrases such as "reproductive health services" and "reproductive rights."  … Can't have either, now, can we?

Why are their shorts so tied up in knots?  Simple.  The "Administration" is afraid such phrases can be interpreted as promoting abortion.  … Tough, isn't it?  Also, are demanding the language be changed to include "natural" family-planning methods.  … Hey, George?  Rhythm, known as Catholic Roulette, is notoriously ineffective.  … Is that precisely what you have in mind, sir?

More to the point, who the hell is the Nazi appointed to the White House to impose his exceptionally perverse and narrow views of morality, not only on Americans, but now the world?  The boorish behavior of the American delegation in refusing to budge on its outrageous demands, has deliberately stalemated the conference.  Has also made critical discussion on AIDS prevention impossible.  ... What's the only "acceptable" answer, George?  Just say no?  Cross your legs?

New York Democrat Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, attending the conference as an observer, remarked: "This is another example of the Bush Administration versus the world that, regrettably, will be at the expense of women."  Of course, Ms. Maloney.  Precisely, the "President's" agenda.  Once again, clearly demonstrates Ole' George could care less about women's issues and reproductive rights.  …  Outrageously, Die Fuhrer will wisely instruct you "little ladies" what you can and cannot do with your uterus. Isn't that special?

An unidentified State Department official phonily whined: Some participants in the conference are seeking to force the United States to agree to language supporting abortion.  Our goals are to focus on poverty, health and education, respect for women and the family as the fundamental unit of society.  We seek an outcome that does not support or promote abortion."

How disingenuously quaint and patronizing.  Especially, in a pluralistic world where the definition of family has drastically changed over the last thirty years.  Conveniently fits right in, however, with the "President's" agenda of keeping the "little lady" in the kitchen, barefoot, pregnant, and blissfully ignorant.  … How in hell does this "Administration" have any "respect for women" when it has absolutely no regard or respect for reproductive rights?  That is, the right of women to do with their uterus as they damn well see fit.  Including use and access to all forms of birth control, as well as the right to abort an unwanted fetus.

Could care even less about the impoverished, despite phony claims to the contrary and the glaringly false principle of "compassionate" "conservatism."  Doesn't exist.   An oxymoron.  Mutually exclusive.  Just a figment of the imagination of the Fascist Right.  Self-delusion, designed to make it easier for the Nazi element to justify and excuse its insatiable greed.  ... While laughing their financially portly asses off all the way to the bank, -- after properly giving thanks to the Lord for their great looted fortune every Sunday on bended knee.  ... 'Ain't' hypocrisy grand?

Talking Out Both Sides…

The death penalty continues to be a source of intense debate and contention throughout the country.  With increasing polarization regarding the issue, government often talks out both sides its mouth.  A fascist U.S. Supreme Court December 9 refused federal assistance to indigent death row inmates.  … Despite a 1998 federal statute requiring attorneys to represent the condemned right up to the end.  Interesting, isn't it?  Cowardly, refused to hear the case.

Bush "Administration" Nazi Solicitor General Theodore Olson argued in briefs states may not appreciate federal courts interfering with the execution process by appointing and financing attorneys.  Tough, isn't it?  … Wouldn't be "biblical", would it, Teddy Boy?  … Just kill the bastards, right, Counselor?  Readers are again reminded Mr. Olson lost his equally fascist wife in the attack on the Pentagon.  Apparently, has seriously clouded his judgment and severely distorted his already outrageously perverse views.  Also, that Congress rightfully passed the federal statute in support of the Sixth Amendment, forcing attorneys not to abandon condemned clients.  ... But refused to fund it.

Instead of falsely declaring the 1998 law mandating legal representation "unconstitutional", the outrageously fascist Supreme Court chose instead to cowardly ignore the issue.  … Would have inconveniently caused a firestorm, -- for a Nazi Court already under intense criticism.  Readers are reminded the Sixth Amendment guaranties the right to counsel:

Article [VI.]
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Why in hell shouldn't federal taxpayers be forced to finance the cost of attorneys for the criminally accused?  Especially in capital cases, where the state is determined to legally murder the defendant?  No one ever asks to be prosecuted.  Since the Constitution clearly guaranties the right to an attorney, -- again, why shouldn't taxpayers pick up the tab?  Particularly, for indigent clients.  Better still and more to the point, for all defendants.

Would certainly lead to an enormous reduction in the number of bogus "prosecutions", by all too many "prosecutors" who could care less about whether or not a defendant is guilty or innocent.  … Only that they get another notch on the belt.  Justice?  What the hell's that?  In Nazi America?  What for?

Things would certainly quickly change, however, if taxpayers were to take it directly in the ass without the Vaseline.  Why shouldn't government pay for defense resources equal to that afforded prosecutors?  Would certainly level the playing field, affording the falsely-accused a fighting chance.  Can't have that, can we?  Just hang the bastards, right?

Justice Clarence Thomas

Mr. Thomas has been repeatedly skewered on this website for his ardent embrace of fascist principles, as well as his atrocious treatment of Anita Hill.  Sadly, has all too conveniently forgotten where he came from, and the sacrifices of so many responsible for where he is today.  But not December 11, -- to his great credit.

The Court heard oral arguments regarding cross burning, specifically a Virginia statute outlawing such activity.  A fifty-year-old law.  Certainly, raises First Amendment issues of free expression vs. the right to be free of fear and terror.  Thomas usually has little to say during oral arguments.  Before he spoke, Court observers believed other justices were undecided regarding the issue, -- from the substance of questioning.

About half way through the hour-long festivities, though, Thomas finally broke his silence.  Other justices listened intently with enormous interest.  Had little to say, but its profound substance appears to have changed the court's mood: "There's no other purpose to the cross, no communication, no particular message.  It was intended to cause fear and to terrorize a population."

Interestingly, Thomas' comments were directed to Deputy Federal Solicitor General Michael R. Dreeben, who was arguing in support of the Virginia statute.  The justice, however, didn't think Dreeben was taking things far enough: "My fear is you are actually understating the symbolism of and effect of the burning cross.  I think what you're attempting to do is fit this into our jurisprudence rather than stating more clearly what the cross was intended to accomplish."

An extremely fine day for Thomas on the bench.  For once, he remembered what was truly important, and of extraordinary significance.  Rather than narrow self-interest.  A striking change since his short-sighted concurrence with a 1995 majority ruling allowing the Klan to display a cross along with other Christmas displays in a Columbus, Ohio public park.  … Despite the fact he thought at the time the Klan cross had nothing to do with religious expression, but was "a symbol of white supremacy and a tool for the intimidation and harassment" of oppressed minorities.  … Substantial progress, for the usually glaring fascist.

From the substance of his recent remarks, however, Ole' Clarence apparently regrets his support of the earlier ruling.  While Mr. Thomas indeed has a long, long way to go, possibly things may be changing in the heart of this usually unabashed fascist, who has heretofore conveniently forgotten where he came from.

"Independent" 9/11 "Investigation"

Further proof the "independent" "investigation" of 9/11 is no more than a sham, the White House cynically informed the Senate Ethics Committee Die Fuhrer's  choice to lead the festivities, Henry Kissinger, is not required to identify his global business clients in regard to potential conflicts of interest.  Isn't that special?  While all Democratic nominees to the committee have agreed to such scrutiny, the Nazi appointed to the White House has balked on GOP members.  Riveting, isn't it?

Mr. Kissinger, however, wisely resigned when it became quite clear he would have no choice but to release the names of his clients.  Worse, would have been forced to give up the lucrative consulting business.  The "President" has claimed he will quickly appoint a replacement.  ... The GOP is apparently in no hurry to get on with things.  Has yet to name four of five Republicans to sit on the committee.

After all, the "President" and his shills in the Grand Old Party are in no hurry to "investigate" culpability for the outrageous intelligence failure.  Precisely, why Kissinger was originally appointed to chair the charade.  With a colorful history of stonewalling, who better to ensure nothing of substance would come of the proceedings?

Balking is par for the course.  The Nazis occupying the Executive Branch still continue to deny terrorist defendants due process in the courts.  Callously refuse people such as accused terrorist James Ujaama constitutionally guarantied unfettered access to all documents to be used against him as well as contact with his attorneys.  In Nazi America.

A Tough Prosecutor

Former Manhattan U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White was certainly a tough prosecutor,  Indicted Osama bin Laden and convicted over thirty terrorists during her tenure.  To her great credit, has stood tall courageously questioning Nazi U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and his outrageously unconstitutional attack on civil liberties and constitutional rights.  In a scathing address before the New York City Bar Association, Ms. White aggressively questioned secret proceedings:  "Secrecy is the enemy of democracy."  No question, Counselor.  Where is the outrage of your former colleagues?

License To Kill

Apparently, in tribute to the Holiday Season and certainly glaringly demonstrative of the "President's" perverse  "religious" principles worn prominently on his sleeve, the Nazi occupying the White House has widened the authority of CIA goons to kill terrorists overseas.  In the absence of a Congressional Declaration of War.  Thugs, effectively empowered by the appointed "Chief Executive"  to become judge, jury, and executioner.  A license to kill.  Mr. Bush and his equally fascist cronies have prepared a hit list of some 25 names.  No more than legalized murder.  Had it been anyone other than Die Fuhrer, their corrupt and abusive ass would have been promptly locked up.

Saddam Warned-Weapons Of Mass Destruction

The Bush "Administration" published a six-page document December 10, warning the Iraqi dictator nuclear weapons could be used in retaliation should weapons of mass destruction be employed against U.S. troops or allies in any American unprovoked attack against Iraq.  … Hey, George?  Why wouldn't Saddam use any and all weapons at his disposal should you proceed with your murderous plans?  Would have absolutely nothing to lose, would he?

Dead, either way.  Certainly, deposed from power.  … What about the tremendous casualties of innocent non-combatants that would occur should such weapons be unleashed by either side?  -- Just acceptable unfortunate consequences of war?  Not a problem, correct, Mr. "President?"  Especially, since you're not doing the dying, right, sir?

Mr. Bush, however, has ludicrously and disingenuously declared, unlike his wife and family, he, as "Commander In Chief" and despite risk of side effects, will accept smallpox vaccination:  "This particular vaccine does involve a small risk of serious health considerations. As commander in chief, I do not believe I can ask others to accept this risk unless I am willing to do the same. Therefore, I will receive the vaccine along with our military."  ... Big of him, isn't it?

... Hey, George?  Your phony concern regarding the troops is laughable.  Truly care?  Why not get into battle fatigues and sport an M-16?  Ask Ole' "Slick Dick" Cheney to do the same.  Pacemaker and all.  Both of you could courageously lead the attack against Ole' Saddam.  Better yet, why the hell not take every one of the bastards in Congress and all those sitting on the bench along with you as well?  ... Almost forgot, sir.  You good ole' boys never do the fighting and dying, do you, sir?  It's the kids, right?

... Got to support Big Oil and your cronies in the corporate community no matter what, don't you, Mr. "President?"  More importantly secure and ensure reinstatement into office you successfully stole, and are so miserably unqualified for.

The Scarlet Letter

A growing number of states are posting all felon information on websites.  Not just sexual offenders.  Compounding the problem of former prisoners trying to find jobs, housing, etc..  Making re-integration into society difficult or impossible.  No question, some felons do represent a continuing threat.  Precisely, why sentencing guidelines need to be overhauled to keep them in prison.  Pedophiles and other sexual offenders should never be released.

Branding all released felons with a scarlet letter, however, is counter-productive.  Leads to recidivism if indeed the former prisoner is not able to find work, get on with a normal life.  Society needs to find a better, more enlightened way of dealing with this growing problem.  Employers need to provide released offenders with an opportunity.  … A second chance at a productive life and re-integration into society.  -- If for no other reason than enlightened self-interest: the tremendous taxpayer-funded financial cost of dealing with repeat offenders.

Protests

More than 150 anti-war protests occurred across the country December 10.  Indeed, involved a wide variety of people, from ordinary citizens to celebrities.  Gratifying to see the public finally finding its voice regarding the atrocity apparently about to transpire in Iraq.  … Dissent having originated on college campuses, but conveniently ignored to date by the supposedly "liberal" mainstream media.  -- Strangely silent and muted for months in its criticism of the "President" for his failure to demonstrate any impending threat from Saddam on his neighbors or the United States.

Dissent Assigning Blame

Readers will recall a joint Congressional committee has been "investigating" the 9/11 catastrophe.  … Sadly, the fox guarding the chicken coop.  To his credit, ranking Senate Republican Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama has been relentless in his criticism of the FBI and CIA.  Certainly, unwilling to tow the GOP line, and apparently much to the chagrin of the Nazi occupying the White House.  Before the panel even released its report on December 11, Shelby was already criticizing it as being too soft on both agencies.  … Also, for its refusal to hold any senior officials personally responsible for the failure to prevent or at least predict the attacks.

Energy Task Force Suit Dismissed

A suit filed by Comptroller General David Walker against "Vice President" "Slick Dick" Cheney and his energy task force was dismissed December 9 by U.S. District "Judge" John Bates.  The suit was part of an investigation by Congress into the wheeling and dealing of the "Administration" and its cronies in the energy industry.  Readers will recall Mr. Bush and Cheney have stonewalled all requests for information regarding this fiasco.  Not clear yet whether the ruling will be appealed. The decision was apparently payback to the Nazi occupying the White House.  How, you may ask?  … "Judge" Bates was recently appointed to the federal bench by the "President."  … Isn't that special?

Bush Rebuffed In Louisiana

Despite determined and desperate effort by the "President", Louisiana voters wisely rejected the "Chief Executive's" hand-picked candidate for senator in the December 7 runoff.  … Tough, isn't it?  Ole' George "The Tush" truly needed an additional Republican to add to his exceptionally-thin one-vote majority in the U.S. Senate.  Fortunately, didn't get it.  … Making it more difficult for the Nazi appointed to the White House to pursue his fascist agenda.  Especially, if any of a number of not-quite-so-fascist Senate Republicans balk.

The incumbent, Sen. Mary L. Landrieu will retain her seat, much to the chagrin of the "President", who had so vigorously campaigned for Suzanne Haik Terrel.  Indeed, Mr. Bush had placed his political power and prestige on the line, finally losing a big one.  At least in Louisiana, voters are apparently beginning to grow wise to the scam.

Iraqi Challenge

The Iraqi government has pointedly challenged the United States to offer proof it possesses weapons of mass destruction.  … After submitting thousands of pages of material to the UN in response to a demand that it disclose all illicit weapons programs and locations of stored weapons of mass destruction.  Time for the "President" of the United States to lay his cards on the table and provide UN weapons inspectors with classified information as to where to specifically search.

Right To Sue

Republicans desperately want to deny you the right to sue, to collect damages for defective products, shoddy professional care.  Particularly, medical malpractice.  Instead of correcting the problem of unqualified, poorly skilled physicians responsible for needless atrocities, the American Medical Association is frantically lobbying Congress to severely limit your right to sue butchers in the medical profession.

Shamelessly using scare tactics, (such as doctors leaving the business due to unaffordable insurance costs or need for patients to travel greater distances for care etc.), to disingenuously convince frightened consumers their right to sue should be severely limited.  … Instead of addressing core problems within the profession.  -- Physicians, who in many cases can't speak the English language.  Are inadequately trained, or engage in procedures they're not qualified to execute.  … Or who outrageously leave a patient on the operating table to attend to banking business, -- as had occurred recently.

Worse, outrageous billing practices and fees are nowhere near reality.  Incapable of being justified.  -- Compensation in no way comparable and compatible with that received by others with similar amounts of education and experience, such as chemists, physicists, engineers, etc..  After all, physicians have a captive audience.  … People will spend their last dime when in pain or danger of loss of life.  Doctors and other healthcare providers greedily take advantage of patient vulnerability.  Mercilessly, gouging patients.

If medical malpractice premiums are too large, and indeed they are, the question needs to be asked, why?  First, costs incurred by quacks are passed on and shared with other competent physicians in the pool.  Certainly, time for doctors to better police their profession, and dump the incompetent.  Instead of raising fees to recoup rising insurance costs, -- or quitting the profession.  Second, the insurance industry needs to be aggressively audited by government investigators.  To determine if premiums are unjustifiably inflated, due to limitless greed within the industry.

Bottom line?  Why shouldn't egregiously aggrieved patients be able to sue the living sh-t out of offending healthcare providers?  … Insatiably greedy providers who never get enough?

Republican shills still whine about the tobacco settlement and how the funds are being misspent by government.  Indeed, true.  Doing so, legally, however.  Why aren't these very same critics calling for change in statutes to prevent such misappropriation abuses by government?  Instead of blaming smokers for their addiction and excusing tobacco companies, why aren't they vigorously questioning why cigarette manufacturers deliberately spiked their product with additional nicotine to make it even more addictive?

FBI Use Of Informants Probed

As reported earlier in this publication, Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind. has been relentless in his pursuit of abuses in the FBI regarding use of informants.  Burton chairs the House Government Reform Committee.  Traveled to Boston to conduct a two-day hearing, Dec.5-6.  Heard testimony from David Wheeler, whose father Roger was murdered by Mafia hit man John Martorano back in '81.  … Shot between the eyes.

Wheeler's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the government.  Why?  Martorano was one of a number of FBI mob informants.  … Informants, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was aware were continuing to commit crimes.  -- Crimes that were outrageously ignored by FBI goons.

… Agents towing the company line are apparently well-rewarded by their superiors, however.  Regarding mob-FBI ties in Boston, Inspector Charles Prouty couldn't conveniently find any evidence fellow agents had indeed tipped off mob informants they were being investigated.  … Allegations which were later proven to be true.  Yet, Mr. Prouty was recently appointed Assistant Director of Law Enforcement, -- the third highest position within the FBI.  Riveting, isn't it?

Of equal concern is an FBI investigation, dubbed Operation Black Widow, involving infiltration of the Nuestra Familia prison gang in which an informant in a high level position in the gang was apparently allowed to continue his criminal activities for some seven months.  … Activities including drug and gun running as well as murder of a rival gang leader.  … In Nazi America.   -- Where it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between criminals and law enforcement.

Shoddy Police Tactics

Police interrogation tactics are so shoddy, incompetent, and/or abusive, cases are lost, reversed, or dropped.  One outrageous example?  The recent request for dismissal of convictions by prosecutors of the five men convicted of the infamous 1989 Central Park gang-rape of a jogger.  Fascists, at the time of the crime, wanted to hang the supposedly guilty sons of bitches.  Can you imagine the travesty of justice had they indeed been executed,  -- for a crime they did not commit?  Or had been killed by a mob?

Readers are reminded O.J. Simpson, most likely guilty as hell, was found not guilty for one reason and one reason only, -- shoddy and incompetent investigation and handling of evidence.  Despite the defendant's most likely guilt, the criminal trial jury did precisely the right thing.  The only thing it could legitimately do.  The civil trial, however, rightfully nailed the bastard.  Too bad, there was no way to consequently strip him of all assets.  Why haven't California legislators corrected this problem for future similar cases?

Harvey Klee

Mr. Klee recently informed this writer he's once again considering running for the Llano Independent School District Board. Rightfully and tirelessly, has been highly critical of waste and corruption in the District for many years.  While willing to do whatever is necessary regarding public appearances, writing of campaign literature, etc., he desperately needs financial backing and assistance with the "grunt" work.

Tasks, such as placement of signs, distribution of fliers, and similar legwork.  Readers are reminded the Board is not paid.  Pointedly, only get what they can steal or receive in bribes.  -- While slapping the Good Ole' Boy occupying the Superintendent's office hard on the back, sharing in the wealth.  Looted taxpayer money.  Time for a breath of fresh air.  Klee could and would do some good, rattling a few cages in an effort to force badly-needed change.

LISD is suffering severe financial distress due to years of neglect, greed, theft, misuse of taxpayer money, etc..  From launch of this publication until recently, has always been aggressively targeted on this website.  No one would listen, however.  Sadly, the chickens are finally coming home to roost.  Tough, isn't it?

LISD Superintendent Jack Patton has a history of financial disaster and problems left behind in both Menard and Hereford.  They were glad to get rid of him, according to a former board member and newspaper editor from both communities contacted by this writer about a year and a half ago.  Has done no better here. This outrageous jackass has deliberately run the District into the ground.

If you support badly-needed change and a fresh point of view on the Board, why not contact Mr. Klee at hklee@tstar.net?  Should the Superintendent and current Board continue unchallenged, expect the tax burden to become far more severe.  Sadly, these white-collar thugs will never get enough, and will continue to mercilessly loot, picking your pockets clean, until you courageously take action and put an end to it.  … Should you insist on remaining deafeningly and cowardly silent, however, you get precisely what you richly deserve.

Dear Mr. DeRosier,

Apparently, quick exposure of earlier IP address
spoofing and illicit signing up of this publication
for unrequested "services" has not deterred you from
renewed spamming activity and additional squandering
of company time and good corporate image.

-- Stupidly, using the same spoofed Yahoo.Com server
IP address a second time to retaliate against ongoing
posting of extremely unflattering material on The
Ledger website, regarding outrageously poor Dell
support.  Tough, isn't it?

Couldn't at least use a different spoofed IP address
to make things a little less boring?  ... Be a bit
more creative, Mr. DeRosier.

Thought others at Dell needed to be aware of what is
going on, and took the liberty of sharing our ongoing
message exchange with them.  Thanks for the additional
fodder.

Dear Mr. DeRosier,

Don't you think it a bit juvenile and in fact
aggressively stupid to use a Yahoo.Com server address
to spoof and illicitly sign this publication up for
unrequested "services"?  ... To both email addresses
listed on the header of the last message sent on
Sunday?  Think Mr. Dell would approve of such waste of
company time and tactics?  Think the U.S. Attorney or
Yahoo would be as amused as this writer?  Regardless,
thanks for the laugh and additional fodder for the
website.  Am deeply grateful.  ... Never a dull
moment.

Dear Mr. DeRosier:

The following ignored snail-mailed letter to Mr. Dell
has been published in the last two editions of The
Llano Ledger.  Readers are entitled to know precisely
how Mr. Notebook and Dell Computer do business.
Indeed, a public service.  Will continue to be posted
weekly for months.  -- Until I get tired of it.

At that time, a new webpage on The Ledger website will
be created.  All correspondence between Mr. Notebook
as well as Dell "Support" and this writer will be
posted.  -- Again, the readership has the right to know
exactly how both companies operate.  … Particularly,
how poor "support" is at both firms.

Should your attorneys decide to sue, by all means do
so.  With an exceptionally corrupt and abusive court
system, Dell indeed would likely prevail.  Regardless
of the truth.  After all, your multi-billion dollar
corporation can easily financially impose its will.
Would be an empty victory for several reasons,
however.

First, would fully publicly demonstrate precisely how
abusive and repressive a powerful corporate entity can
be, -- ultimately costing market share.  After all,
why buy Dell when you can purchase HP, -- a company
far more attentive to customer concerns and
complaints?

Second, would certainly publicly expose Dell "Support"
for being inept, unresponsive, and profoundly
obfuscating.  Sadly, -- the number one problem in the
view of product users.   … Again, costing market
share.

Third, a suit would bring this publication additional
recognition nationally.  With readership exponentially
expanding, can only further aid and assist, no?

Fourth, should Dell prevail, this publication has no
assets, -- other than the piece of trash this message
is typed on.  Remember?  The supposedly "factory
refurbished" Latitude Mr. Notebook fraudulently sold
as rebuilt?

Fifth, this writer has no assets. Certainly, "judgment
proof", so to speak.  The truth regarding this entire
fiasco would come out in court for all to see,
regardless of whether or not Dell uses its
considerable assets to buy a favorable, self-serving
outcome.

So, should your legal beagles choose to file suit,
bring it on.  … Hardball?  You bet.  Can only wonder
how many others have had to put up with this same
crap, or worse.  While they had no options, this
publication certainly does.  Can indeed expose it to
the light of day.

Bottom line, Mr. DeRosier, is the fact the office of
the CEO has not had the courtesy nor seen fit to
answer the enclosed letter, preferring to stonewall.
-- Or possibly never received the letter at all.

… Could have been conveniently intercepted by a crony
in the Dell mail department?  After all, you knew full
well it was coming.  Nothing less than a response from
the office of the CEO is acceptable.

If his office indeed received the correspondence, it
is glaringly indifferent to unresolved customer
complaints.  Has apparently refused to right the wrong
regardless of legal culpability or lack thereof.

Certainly, aggressively stupid since you've already
likely lost more in sales than it would have cost to
correct the problem.  Corporate image is priceless,
isn't it, or has Dell Computer indeed grown too fat
and complacent to care?  -- Or is this merely a matter
of one Dell employee desperately trying to cover his
ass and/or that of his department?

Sincerely,
Tim Chorney, Publisher

Letter To Dell CEO

Michael Dell
Chief Executive Officer
Dell Computers
One Dell Way
Round Rock, TX  78682

August 18, 2002

Dear Mr. Dell:

A Dell factory refurbished Latitude was purchased from Mr. Notebook by [redacted] of [redacted] and donated to this non-profit publication about a year ago.  Despite a nearly $900 expenditure, this machine has been a piece of trash since purchase.  Support from Mr. Notebook was non-existent.  Sadly, Dell Support was not much better.

Clearly, after a year's worth of problems, factory "refurbished" does not mean factory "rebuilt".  Apparently, the hard disk, floppy, and CD drives were never replaced.  -- The most likely sources of product failure.  In addition, the supposedly replaced lithium-ion battery module has a design flaw.  Although the machine has always been run on AC power and the battery maintained at 100% charge, intelligence circuitry in the module failed, rendering the battery worthless.  -- Coincidentally occurred during the latest email foray with Dell Support regarding floppy disk failure.  … Aren't I lucky?  Incredibly blessed?

All that was requested from Dell Support this time around, however, was a pointer to diagnostics that would have pinpointed the problem with the floppy drive.  … Not absolutely sure yet whether the failure lies only in the drive itself, or may also involve the socket and possibly bugs in drivers common to both the floppy and CD ROM drives.  Sadly, the CD ROM has never worked flawlessly either and has had occasional problems of reliability.  … At least, it's still working, however.  Unlike the floppy.

While Dell Support indeed provided a pointer to diagnostics, the download ironically requires use of boot disk and floppy.  Indeed, a problem of not being able to get from here to there.  When pointed out to Support, received no further assistance, -- just an outrageous run around.  … Despite assurances on the Dell website such email support supposedly exists for life of the product.

Mr. Dell, I can certainly understand you cannot be aware of all problems within a large corporation.  You do, however, have unaddressed flaws with "refurbished" machines sold by disreputable vendors fraudulently and phonily invoking Dell corporate name, image, and prestige, and more importantly, horrendous problems with a totally unresponsive Dell Support division.  No question, it is doing damage to corporate public image and reputation.  Sadly, although your machines are extremely popular, the greatest problem I've heard from users is lack of support.  Can certainly attest to that from personal experience.

Support outrageously refused to provide an email address for your office, -- unlike HP and other corporations more responsive to unresolved customer problems and complaints.  … An email address would have certainly provided an easy practical way of sending the entire email exchange over the last year.  Would have sorely indicated glaring obfuscation, non-responsiveness, and interminable intentional delay.  Hard to believe you're unaware.  Than again, Dell Corporation could apparently care less.

Mr. Notebook sold the Latitude as a Dell factory refurbished machine, supposedly tested by Dell-trained technicians, clearly so indicated on the bottom of the computer.  Again, the floppy, CD, and hard drives apparently were never replaced.  The most likely components to fail.   Since factory refurbished clearly does not mean factory rebuilt, the computer is no more than a used machine.  … A machine that could have been bought for half the price at a resale shop.  Even less if purchased privately.  With the price of new notebooks precipitously dropping recently to the $900 range and technically capable of running circles around this dinosaur, assuredly have no intention of dumping additional money into this piece of trash.

Mr. Notebook, on the day of purchase, claimed this machine to be factory refurbished.  Repeatedly made the claim.  Clearly, it was not.  Mr. Notebook quickly washed its hands of this lemon, failing to answer follow-up correspondence from this publication regarding product failure shortly after purchase.  Have no intention of wasting additional time and effort haggling further with Mr. Notebook, -- other than to publish an investigative article exposing this entire fiasco.  After all, the public is entitled to know exactly how business was done.

Due to several serious problems never corrected by Dell or Mr. Notebook since purchase of this falsely alleged Dell factory refurbished product, however, can honestly say at this point I would never again purchase a Dell computer, -- new, used, or "factory refurbished".  From anyone.  Certainly would never encourage others to purchase Dell either.  Indeed, why take the risk and put up with the hassle?

Regardless of whether or not Dell Corporation is technically or legally responsible for fraudulent claims made by a vendor of Dell machines, the damage done to corporate image is indeed severe nonetheless.  The lack of competent support and assistance from Dell Corporation in the matter is stunning.  Certainly, costly in terms of good faith and product loyalty lost.  Regardless of legal responsibility.

Have enclosed the last few emails from Support upper management refusing to provide an email address for your office and highly indicative and glaringly demonstrative of ongoing obfuscation over the last year.  Little more than canned, computer-generated messages containing phony platitudes and false concern designed to obfuscate and stonewall rather than provide technical assistance or resolution.  Apparently, the problem is top-down, since tone and substance of upper management Support is no different than that of lower level techs.  Although unquestionably a public service, have held off publishing an investigative article until I hear from your office.

Sincerely,

Fraudulent Deletion Of Ledger Websites

A letter To Burnet County Sheriff Joe Pollock has been posted recently.  Access it by clicking here.

As promised, the letter of complaint sent to Burnet County Judge Martin McLean, regarding fraudulent Ledger Maxpages and Stormpages site deletions originating from the Burnet County Library System and resulting in the ejection of this writer from library computers, has finally been posted.  Readers are reminded this is not the end of the matter.  Just the beginning.  For ongoing coverage of the criminal attacks as well as the letter to the Judge sent in response, click here.

Klee's Kaleidoscope

Be sure to click on Klee's Kaleidoscope for Harvey Klee's latest edition.  This publication is a forum for a diversity of viewpoints. All are encouraged to submit material.

An Honest Business

A rare commodity, honest businesses need a plug.  Although this publication receives no financial remuneration or funding of any kind from Mike's Transmission, this writer has personally known the owner of this new business quite some time and has enormous respect for his integrity.  Mike has had years of experience working on transmissions, -- foreign and domestic, standard and automatic.  This guy has heart and takes enormous pride in his work.  Give him a call at 915-423-1694.  The business is in the process of being launched.  If you like the quality of service, let me know.  Better yet, ask him to send a donation to the Ledger.

Unbridled Fear

As strongly asserted in the last 85 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.

Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.

If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
