Iraq-Al Qaeda Link

Until recently, the Bush "Administration" claimed al Qaeda terrorists were operating in northern Iraq, areas not controlled by Saddam.   Bush and his cronies are changing their tune.  Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld declared Sept. 26: "We do have solid evidence of the presence in Iraq of Al Qaeda members, including some that have been in Baghdad.  We have what we consider to be very reliable reporting of senior-level contacts going back a decade, and of possible chemical-and biological-agent training."  Interesting and conveniently timely, isn't it?

Where is the evidence, Mr. Rumsfeld?  The Defense Secretary has released none.  When again questioned by reporters about any link between Saddam and 9/11, he responded: "I didn't address that."  … Sure didn't, Mr. Secretary.  When pressed further, he disingenuously replied: "I think I've probably said what I'd like to say about Al Qaeda and Iraq."  Imagine you have, Mr. Rumsfeld.  What we have here is a glaring credibility problem.  Strong assertions made by government officials with no evidence to back them up.  The public is supposed to take what is stated as fact, -- with absolutely no proof.  The same was done in August 1964, -- with disastrous results.  Vietnam, 58,000 dead.  Our best and brightest.  For what?  The enrichment of insatiably greedy defense contractors.

The Defense Secretary further claimed: "Iraq and al Qaeda have discussed safe haven opportunities in Iraq, reciprocal nonaggression discussions…We have what we consider to be credible evidence that al Qaeda leaders have sought contacts in Iraq who could help them acquire weapons of mass destruction capabilities."  Again, Mr. Rumsfeld, where is the evidence?  Why should anyone take you at your word?  Where is your proof?  You beat war drums, yet provide no new evidence.  Repeating unsubstantiated claims does not the truth make.

In the Rose Garden with cronies supporting his proposed war on Iraq, the "President" declared Sept. 26: "The regime has long-standing and continuing ties to terrorist organizations. And there are al Qaeda terrorists inside Iraq."  Again, George, what's new?  Has been common knowledge for many, many years.  What has so drastically changed in the last few weeks demanding an immediate war?

National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice added her voice to the chorus:  "In particular some high ranking detainees, have said that Iraq provided some training to al Qaeda in chemical weapons development. So, yes, there are contacts between Iraq and al Qaeda."

… Hey, Condi?  Why would "high ranking detainees" conveniently supply you with such information?  If so, did it ever occur to the "Administration" such "information" may have been falsely supplied to obfuscate and confuse?  Again, where is the evidence?  Where is your proof?  Why should anything said by this "Administration" be taken at face value?

ABCNEWS reported Sept. 26 a "senior intelligence official" claimed in regard to a possible Iraq-al Qaeda connection there is "no smoking gun — not even an unfired gun."  Again, the "Administration" is making claims that have not been substantiated in its fevered pitch to go to war.  Men and women will die, -- with a "President" and "Administration" that has to date made no convincing case.  Provided no evidence.  None.  In fact, the "Administration" only started claiming an Iraq-al Qaeda connection AFTER it started pressing for Iraqi "regime change" this past summer.  Convenient, isn't it?

Worse, the "President" is immorally using the proposition of an Iraqi war to raise funds for the Republican Party.  At every fundraiser, this sad excuse for a "Chief Executive" is using the prospect of military action to line GOP coffers.  Mr. Bush is the all-time political fundraising champion, -- more than $126 million this year.  Has appeared at 58 fundraisers in the last nine months.  With a war against terrorism and his legislative agenda stalled in Congress, where does he find the time?  Readers are reminded taxpayers pay for the trips.  The "President" conveniently adds non-fundraising stops to each junket to legally justify looting the Treasury.  ... As his predecessor.

At a fundraiser Sept. 26 in Texas, the "President" demonstrated without doubt how personal his vendetta has become against Saddam: "After all, this is a guy who tried to kill my dad at one time."  Yes, George.  Saddam tried to kill Daddy.  Conveniently forget Daddy did all he could to kill the Iraqi dictator during weeks of fierce bombing at onset of the Gulf War?  … Didn't expect him at some point to return the favor?

Bush "The First" thanked his successor for bombing Saddam in retaliation shortly after Mr. Clinton took office.  … Demonstrating how personal the war against the Iraqi dictator was even back then.  The son is a chip off the ole' block, so to speak, and is determined to finish what Daddy started.  At the expense of the lives of your sons and daughters.  Conveniently lining GOP fundraising coffers in the process.

Sadly, the appointed "President" has never grown up, and remains a little boy determined to settle a playground spat.  The perversely tragic consequence of this fiasco, however, is that America's best and brightest will pay the price.  So will hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians.  There is no question Saddam will hunker down in highly populated areas, forcing house-to-house combat.  At terrible cost in terms of casualties.

Mr. Bush could care less.  He and his loved ones are not doing the fighting and dying.  Yours are.  The "President" and GOP stand to benefit politically in coming elections as a result.  So will campaign coffers.  As American as mom and apple pie.

England Publishes Iraq Dossier

As long promised, British Prime Minister Tony Blair released a 50-page dossier on Saddam Sept. 25.  Despite advanced billing and hoopla, the document contains no new evidence of supposed Iraqi imminent threat.  None.  No more than a self-serving rehash of material well-known for years.   Mr. Blair has once again proven he is no more than a shill of the United States government and the fascist appointed to the Oval Office.

Like the "President", apparently enjoys getting his cookies off going to war.  … Of course, both "leaders" don't do the bleeding and dying.  That's what their pawns in the military are for.  The best and brightest are shamelessly and conveniently manipulated and used for political expediency and gain.

While both allies continue to press for enforcement of UN resolutions against Iraq, the United States and England conveniently and self-servingly stonewall all Arab attempts to similarly enforce 28 UN resolutions against Israel.  Why?  Why does our Nazi "President" call for enforcement of 16 UN resolutions against Iraq, but similarly ignore 28 unenforced ones against Israel?  Where is his even-handedness?  Precisely why this country was so savagely attacked last year.

German-American Relations Strained

During the recent successful German reelection campaign of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, the German leader voiced strong opposition to "President" Bush's proposed war on Iraq.  Still does.  Profoundly chagrined "Administration" officials and the "Chief Executive" were, and are, furious.

… How dare the Germans not march in goosestep with the United States?  Adding perceived insult to injury, German Justice Minister Herta Daeubler-Gmelin compared Mr. Bush's imperialistic tactics towards Iraq with those of Hitler.

-- Who better to know than a German national acutely and painfully aware of Nazi Germany and its exceptionally brutal past?  … A recent past, not even sixty years removed.  Sadly, the Justice Minister was forced to resign under intense pressure from the reelected Chancellor,  -- desperate to cowardly mend fences with our Nazi "President".  Too bad.

She got the boot for nothing more than having had the courage to speak the truth.  Has certainly immensely irked Mr. Bush and his cronies.  Also, his shills on the Extreme Right.  Bona fide fascists in the United States, cowardly masquerading as "conservatives", bristle when correctly so labeled.  Tough.  Truth, apparently, is deeply painful.  Too bad.  Still remains the truth.

...Working definition of fascism for new readers? An abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel cynically placed on the throat of the masses, justified in principle by perversion and bastardization of religion.

Judicial Candidate Miguel Estrada

The "President", increasingly frustrated with Senate failure to seat outrageously fascist judicial nominees, is closely watching Senate treatment of the latest candidate to receive a hearing.  Miguel Estrada is the Washington attorney who successfully aided the "Chief Executive" in his theft of the presidential election, craftily winning the Florida recount battle in 2000.  -- With the help of a Nazi U.S. Supreme Court who essentially appointed Mr. Bush, "President".  Despite losing the popular vote.

Now, the "Chief Executive" desperately wants to repay Estrada for his "services" with an appointment to the federal judiciary.  This bona fide fascist is ultimately destined for the Supreme Court should Mr. Bush and his cronies have their way.  Mr. Estrada has been falsely portrayed as an immigrant who pulled himself up by his bootstraps and made a place for himself.  Not so.  Estrada is the son of wealthy parents who strongly supported him, and certainly contributed to what he is today.

He has no judicial record.  To protect him against aggressive questioning by Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats, the "President" of the United States refused to release his memos and opinions from his time of employment with the Solicitor General's office.  Mr. Estrada also arrogantly refused to answer questions regarding specific cases.  Successfully stonewalling, senators' questions.

Schumer and Feinstein closely questioned Estrada about a magazine article in which an anonymous attorney asserted the judicial candidate claimed he would block all "liberal" clerks from working for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.  Waffling, Mr. Estrada first declared he never made the statement.  Then claimed, if he in fact did, it was said as a joke.  Realizing the enormous gaffe and lie, he stupidly clarified further:  "I wanted people who understood that their job was to help Justice Kennedy do what he wants.''  Is that right, Counselor?  Which is it, Mr. Estrada?  Time to get it straight, sir.  … Pulling a "Clinton"?

Schumer, obviously chagrined pointedly declared:  "I think we have some credibility problems here.''  Certainly do, Senator, certainly do.  Senator Hatch, aware the fascist judicial candidate had severely compromised himself during questioning angrily retorted: "This is really offensive. ... He is being very badly treated by this committee.''  No, Senator.  He wasn't.  He got caught in a lie with his pants down.  Wake up, fool.

In addition, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Puerto Rican Legal and Defense Fund have strongly come out against Estrada, providing the Senate Judiciary in writing a complaint alleging he was "combative" with them during meetings.  Interesting, isn't it?

Mr. Estrada and Michael McConnell (subjected to a hearing approximately a week earlier by the Senate Judiciary Committee) are not fit for judicial office.  Both are excessively extreme in their ideological views and would not be able to separate perverse personal beliefs from their job on the bench.  Mr. Bush is shamelessly attempting to load the judiciary with fascists of his political persuasion.  Hopefully, the Judiciary Committee will continue to offer stiff opposition.  The battle for the imposition of fascism truly lies in the courts.  If Bush is successful with loading the bench with his cronies, freedom will continue to be eviscerated in this once great country and eventually eliminated.  The stakes are that high, readers.

... Working definition of fascism for new readers? An abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel cynically placed on the throat of the masses, justified in principle by perversion and bastardization of religion.

Homeland Security Department

Unquestionably demonstrating his determination to eviscerate unionism in the United States, the "President" has promised to veto legislation creating a Homeland Security Department if it contains language protecting workers' rights.  … Can't have that, can we, George?  Doesn't fit in with the fascist agenda.

Ole' George "The Tush" is already backing off and cynically wavering on his call for an independent investigation of 9/11.  … Doesn't want it to include careful scrutiny of intelligence agencies.  -- Bet he doesn't.  Might reveal the truth.  Can't have that either, can we, Mr. "President"?

Daschle Finds His Voice

Finally, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota has found his voice and opened rhetorical fire on the "President" on the floor of the Senate, all guns blazing.  About time.  What took so long, Senator?  The truth is the truth, -- and should never be held hostage to political considerations and expediency.  Never.

Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Mississippi hotly responded:  "Who is the enemy here, the president of the United States or Saddam Hussein?"  Wake up, Senator.  Your outrageous ignorance and self-serving remark are truly pathetic.  While Saddam is no choir boy and a ruthless dictator, the enemy has indeed become the appointed "President" of the United States.

Ole' George "The Tush" has gutlessly ceded to the enemy what never could have been lost on the battlefield, -- the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments to the Constitution.  Courtesy of an outrageously unconstitutional and un-American "Patriot" Act and equally unconstitutional Executive Orders designed to deliberately eviscerate civil liberties and rights.

The agenda is the imposition of fascism, not protection of "national security" as falsely claimed by the jackass occupying the White House.  Working definition of fascism for new readers? An abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel cynically placed on the throat of the masses, justified in principle by perversion and bastardization of religion.

As the Founders wisely knew, anyone willing to trade liberty for "security" deserves and winds up with neither.   Precisely what we now see happening as the "President" continues to impose his fascist agenda and perverse "religious" beliefs and views on the rest of us.

The following is the comment made Sept. 27 in a Trenton, N.J. speech delivered by the "President" that so angered Daschle:

"I asked Congress to give me the flexibility necessary to be able to deal with the true threats of the 21st century by being able to move the right people to the right place at the right time, so we can better assure America we're doing everything possible. The House responded. But the Senate is more interested in special interests in Washington, and not interested in the security of the American people."

On the floor of the Senate, Mr. Daschle responded:

"I am very saddened by the fact that we have debated homeland security now for four weeks. I have noted on several occasions that there is no reason why, on a bipartisan basis, this body cannot work together to overcome our differences and to pass a meaningful and a substantive bill dealing with homeland security.

"Some have suggested that this delay has been politically motivated, and I have said I'm not willing to believe that. In fact, yesterday I said we intend to give the president benefit of the doubt.

"Over the course of the last several weeks, as we have debated Social Security, the issue of war in Iraq has become more and more prominent. And again, as I go back to my experience in 1991 and '92, during a similar period, fall and winter, prior and after an election, I expressed the concern that our politics and this climate could easily create a politicized environment, and in so doing diminish, minimize, degrade the debate on an issue as grave as war. No one here needs to be reminded of the consequences of war.
No one here should have to be admonished about politicizing the debate about war.

"But increasingly over the course of the last several weeks, reports have surfaced which have increasingly led me to believe that, indeed, there are those who would politicize this war.

"I was given a report about a recommendation made by Matthew Dowd, the pollster for the White House and the Republican National Committee. He told a victory dinner not long ago, I quote, "The No. 1 driver for our base motivationally is this war."

"Dowd said war could be beneficial to the G.O.P. in the 2002 elections.

"And then, I quote, "When an issue dominates the landscape like this one, it will dominate the landscape in a way that probably for a long time to come would put the Republicans on a very good footing."

"I thought, well, perhaps that's a pollster. Perhaps pollsters are paid to say what's best, regardless of what other considerations ought to be made. Pollsters are paid to tell you about the politics of issues. And were it left with pollsters, perhaps I wouldn't be as concerned. But then I read that Andy Card was asked, well, why did this issue come before Washington and the country now? Why are we debating it in September? Where were we last year? Where were we last spring? And Mr. Card's answer was, "From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August."

"New products? War?

"And then I listened to reports of the vice president. The vice president comes to fund-raisers, as he did just recently in Kansas. The headline written in the paper the next day about the speech he gave to that fund-raiser was, "Cheney Talks About War; Electing Taft Would Aid War Effort."

"And then we find a diskette discovered in Lafayette Park, a computer diskette that was lost somewhere between a Republican strategy meeting in the White House and the White House. Advice was given by Karl Rove, and the quote in the disc was, "Focus on war."

"I guess right from the beginning, I thought, well, first it was pollsters. And then it was White House staff. And then it was the vice president. And all along, I was asked, "Are you concerned about whether or not this war is politicized?"

"And my answer on every occasion was, yes. And then the follow-up question is, "Is the White House politicizing the war?" And I have said, without question: "I can't bring myself to believe that it is. I can't believe any president or any administration would politicize the war."

"But then I read in the paper this morning, now, even the president, the president is quoted in The Washington Post this morning as saying that "the Democratic-controlled Senate is not interested in the security of the American people."

"Not interested in the security of the American people? You tell Senator Inouye he's not interested in the security of the American people! You tell those who fought in Vietnam and in World War II they're not interested in the security of the American people! That is outrageous! Outrageous!

"The president ought to apologize to Senator Inouye and every veteran who has fought in every war who is a Democrat in the United States Senate. He ought to apologize to the American people. That is wrong. We ought not politicize this war. We ought not politicize the rhetoric about war and life and death.

"I was in Normandy just last year. I've been in national cemeteries all over this country. And I have never seen anything but stars, the Star of David and crosses on those markers. I've never seen "Republican" and "Democrat."

"This has got to end. We've got to get on with the business of our country. We've got to rise to a higher level. Our Founding Fathers would be embarrassed by what they're seeing going on right now. We've got to do better than this. Our standard of deportment ought to be better. Those who died gave their lives for better than what we're giving now.

"So it's not too late to end this politicization. It's not too late to forget the pollsters, forget the campaign fund-raisers, forget making accusations about how interested in national security Democrats are, and let's get this job done right. Let's rise to the occasion. That's what the American people are expecting. And we have to give them no less."

Gestapo Police Tactics

Innocent people continue to languish in American prisons for crimes they did not commit.  A growing number are being released after exoneration by DNA evidence.  Sadly, many of these inmates falsely confessed.  Why?  Why would someone innocent confess?  Incredibly simple.  Exceptionally abusive Gestapo investigative "police" tactics are routinely employed by Nazi thugs, "officers" sworn to "protect and serve".  -- Themselves.

Suspects continue to be roughed up and abused during interrogations, -- often without benefit of attorneys present.  The courts allow Nazi police goons to lie like hell to suspects during interrogation with impunity and severely distort reality in a deliberate effort to force a "suspect" to break.

Confessions elicited under false pretenses are then used in Nazi American courts to convict innocent citizens.  Police are allowed to egregiously lie with absolutely no consequences, -- other than promotion up the chain of command.  When the tables are reversed, however, citizens are vigorously prosecuted for lying to federal goons or filing false reports or giving false statements to local police agencies and their Nazi thugs masquerading as respectable "officers".

Black is white.  Night is day.  Right is wrong.  Wrong is right.  And "sh-t 'don't' stink" in an increasingly repressive police-state.  The best thing to do is always, always, ALWAYS, maintain your right to silence if accosted by police goons.  DON'T foolishly do their "job" for them.  DON'T succumb to fear and their manipulation of facts and circumstances.  -- Let them distort reality on their own without your aid and assistance.  … If you make no statements while held, you give them nothing to use, twist, and distort to their advantage in court.

Madelyne Gorman Toogood Atrocity

See the video of the "loving" mom beating the crap out of her four-year-old daughter in a shopping mall parking lot?  … Spare the rod, spoil the child, right?  -- The biblical thing to do, no?  Madelyne Gorman Toogood faces a felony child battery charge.  Terribly unfair, isn't it?  Why charge the little lady when she was only demonstrating "Christian" "love" and "charity" to her daughter?  Right?

Incredibly, this perversely ill excuse for a human being was immediately released on bail.  -- Despite the fact she was a fugitive for over a week and had even dyed her hair to elude capture.  Why so easily release her?  She's a danger to children.  Had she similarly battered an adult, things would not have gone quite so easily.  Then again, in Nazi America, children have no constitutional rights, are second class citizens, and remain chattel of their parents.  She was quickly released because officials sickly believe:  "There but for the grace of God go I."  Gutless bastards.

Brilliantly demonstrating an aggressive offense is truly the best defense, the not-so-good Toogood made herself constantly available to media phonily declaring: "I just lost it. I can't explain it. I didn't think it was as bad as it looks."  ... It wasn't?  What in hell do you call it, madam?  "Christian" "love"?  "Charity"?  "Good" parenting?

Further excusing outrageous insanity, Ms. Toogood crying, contritely and piously pontificated: "I was thinking, I look like a monster.  I can't believe I did that to my little 4-year-old girl.  Martha didn't deserve what she got.  I just lost my temper."  No sh-t, lady.  Sure did.

Incredibly, authorities are considering conditions under which custody of the little girl will be returned to this remarkably "loving" "mother".  Perversely, government apparently wishes to give Ms. Toogood another opportunity to kill her daughter.  Wake up, readers.

When will parental physical assault of children finally be outlawed?  Ms. Toogood belongs in a mental institution for the rest of her life with NO chance of release.  Ever.  For any reason.  She is an extreme danger to children.  Needs to be permanently isolated.  For the sake of her own and other kids.  Has an outrageously unacceptable and dangerous method of handling and venting anger.  A method that will ultimately lead to the death of an innocent child.

For you gutless "religious" fascists out there strongly condemning a woman's right to do with her uterus as she damn well pleases, where in hell is your outrage regarding the perversely criminal behavior of this "loving" "mother"?  … Too g-ddamned busy doing precisely the same to your own children, perversely using the Bible to excuse it?

The aggressively stupid American population has no clue regarding exactly how permanent and damaging physical assault of children truly is.  It is gutlessly ignored because outrageously idiotic Americans perversely excuse what was done to them earlier in life.  -- Sickly doing in return the same to their kids, what was done to them, to justify the physical assault they themselves endured as children at the hands of equally sick parents.  The chain is seldom broken until it finally makes national news as in the Toogood atrocity.

Perversely ill parents claim:  "If it was good enough for me, it's good enough for my kids.  After all, didn't do me any harm, did it?  I turned out just fine, didn't I?"  ... Did you?  Did you, really?  Readers are reminded we consequently "enjoy" a rate of domestic violence higher than any other nation in the world.

Equally disturbing, we routinely use violence to settle disputes, execute criminal offenders sometimes innocent, and easily go to war to settle international disputes that could have been resolved diplomatically or should never have arisen in the first place.

We are an arrogant sick country, full of perversely ill people who have little ability to rationally resolve problems.  We enjoy the fight, glorifying it.  Indeed, have sickly raised it to an art and science.  Perversely, it's how we get our cookies off.

House Assault On Abortion Continues

With a nod and wink from the fascist occupying the White House, House Republicans successfully passed a bill Sept. 25, further restricting a woman's right to do with her uterus as she damn well pleases.  … Along party lines.  The bill is designed to gag physicians from discussing abortion services.  Would perversely permit healthcare providers to refuse services or pay for abortions with impunity.  ... Conveniently, would not be subject to loss of federal funding.  Since there are no prospects of abortion being outlawed any time soon, the Nazi element is determined to protect those who refuse to offer services or reimburse doctors.  … A backdoor approach to nullifying Roe v. Wade.

The Bush "Administration" continues to lie and deliberately mislead the public regarding its actions: "Hospitals and health care professionals should not be forced to perform or participate in abortions.  This legislation makes clear that they may not be subjected to discrimination by the federal government, or by any state or local government ... because they oppose or choose not to participate in abortions or abortion training."

No, Mr. "President".  It does quite more.  It desperately attempts to deny women their constitutional right to do with their uterus as they damn well please.  What you cowardly and cynically seek, George, is to keep women barefoot, pregnant, ignorant, and in the kitchen.  -- Despite a few token women in high "Administration" positions.  Already, abortion services are sparse and difficult to access outside major metropolitan areas.  This bill is designed to make it even more difficult.

For years, women have been forced to walk the gauntlet, subject to abuse from perverse anti-abortion "religious" zealots as they enter medical facilities.  Mr. "President", you cynically seek to make it even more trying, difficult, and abusive, desperately determined to impose your perverse "religious" "principles" and views on others.  Raw Nazism.

Demonstrating precisely how far the Nazi Right has perversely distorted reality and turned truth inside out, consider the assertion of abortion opponent Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo. in front of lawmakers in defense of the bill: "The question is whether we protect the various health care organizations, whether we want to protect their right to have a choice, to even have an opinion."  No, Mr. Akin, it's not.  It's a naked attempt by abortion foes to deny women the right to abort and glaringly impose their perverse "religious" beliefs on the rest of us through the force of law.  Nothing more. Nothing less.  Sieg Heil.

Ashcroft Controls Previously Independent Agencies

That's right.  Ole' Johnny Boy is attempting to manipulate previously independent agencies within the "Justice" Department" collecting crime statistics and granting research awards.  Apparently, Mr. Ashcroft seeks to stiffly control crime information released and those deemed worthy to receive research funds.   No question legitimate crime statistics do not always support "Justice" Department policies, nor do research findings.  A major inconvenience the Nazi heading the Department wishes to avoid.  … Don't confuse anyone with the truth, right, General?  Honesty? Candor?  What the hell's that?  What for?  Interferes with imposition of your fascist agenda, doesn't it, Johnny?

Bush Wants Oregon Assisted-Suicide Law Overturned

Our fascist "Chief Executive" and his Nazi Attorney General demanded a federal appeals court September 23 rule the Controlled Substance Act precludes Oregon's assisted-suicide law.  That is, use of drugs prescribed by Oregon physicians to facilitate suicide of terminal patients supposedly violates federal drug law according to George "The Tush" and Ole' Johnny Boy.  Why is the "Administration" so opposed to assisted suicide?  Two reasons.

First, the "President" is determined to impose his perverse "religious" and "moral" views on the rest of the nation.  Second, Mr. Bush is dedicated and intent on doing all he can to benefit insatiably greedy cronies in Corporate America.  Cynically, part of that agenda is seeing to it patients and their families spend every last dollar on healthcare before death.  Impermissibly, suicide prematurely and inconveniently interrupts cash flow to the healthcare system.  Although the "President" and his GOP cronies profess to be strong advocates of states' rights, when the rubber meets the road and corporate bottom line is affected, states' rights go out the door.

California Statute Promotes Stem Cell Research
.
On the cutting edge of social and scientific issues, California continues to lead the nation on stem cell research.  Gov. Gray Davis signed into law a bill that supports and opens the door to human embryonic stem cell researchers, ensuring the state will remain in the forefront of medical advances ultimately leading to treatment and cure of many ailments.  Including but not limited to spinal cord injuries and diabetes.

Recently, paralyzed actor Christopher Reeve was exceptionally critical of the "President" and Catholic Church for their staunch opposition to such research.  Commenting on the signing of the legislation Mr. Reeve declared:  "Since stem cells were first isolated in 1998, the political debate has had a chilling affect on our scientists.  It is painful to contemplate what advances could have been made."  Indeed.  Former First Lady Nancy Reagan also strongly supports stem cell research, and has quietly and indirectly made her views known to the current occupant of the White House.

Why is the "Chief Executive" and his cronies in the "Religious" Right so opposed?  They ludicrously claim destruction of fertilized embryos tantamount to murder.  Sadly, they insist on imposing their perverse and immoral "religious" views on the rest of us.  … Stifling lifesaving research in their sick zeal to establish a "Christian" theocracy.

Commenting on the legislation, the Governor asserted: "The debate will continue in the country, but these debilitating diseases affect nearly everyone in one way or another.  As the country ages, however, more and more Americans will see the value stem cell research has in enhancing the quality of life for the people they love."  Absolutely, Governor.  Visionary and courageous of you to say so.  Sadly, the "President" and his shills place their perverse "religious" beliefs and fascist agenda ahead of the welfare of the American people.

Dear Mr. DeRosier,

Don't you think it a bit juvenile and in fact
aggressively stupid to use a Yahoo.Com server address
to spoof and illicitly sign this publication up for
unrequested "services"?  ... To both email addresses
listed on the header of the last message sent on
Sunday?  Think Mr. Dell would approve of such waste of
company time and tactics?  Think the U.S. Attorney or
Yahoo would be as amused as this writer?  Regardless,
thanks for the laugh and additional fodder for the

Dear Mr. DeRosier:

The following ignored snail-mailed letter to Mr. Dell
has been published in the last two editions of The
Llano Ledger.  Readers are entitled to know precisely
how Mr. Notebook and Dell Computer do business.
Indeed, a public service.  Will continue to be posted
weekly for months.  -- Until I get tired of it.

At that time, a new webpage on The Ledger website will
be created.  All correspondence between Mr. Notebook
as well as Dell "Support" and this writer will be
posted.  -- Again, the readership has the right to know
exactly how both companies operate.  … Particularly,
how poor "support" is at both firms.

Should your attorneys decide to sue, by all means do
so.  With an exceptionally corrupt and abusive court
system, Dell indeed would likely prevail.  Regardless
of the truth.  After all, your multi-billion dollar
corporation can easily financially impose its will.
Would be an empty victory for several reasons,
however.

First, would fully publicly demonstrate precisely how
abusive and repressive a powerful corporate entity can
be, -- ultimately costing market share.  After all,
why buy Dell when you can purchase HP, -- a company
far more attentive to customer concerns and
complaints?

Second, would certainly publicly expose Dell "Support"
for being inept, unresponsive, and profoundly
obfuscating.  Sadly, -- the number one problem in the
view of product users.   … Again, costing market
share.

Third, a suit would bring this publication additional
recognition nationally.  With readership exponentially
expanding, can only further aid and assist, no?

Fourth, should Dell prevail, this publication has no
assets, -- other than the piece of trash this message
is typed on.  Remember?  The supposedly "factory
refurbished" Latitude Mr. Notebook fraudulently sold
as rebuilt?

Fifth, this writer has no assets. Certainly, "judgment
proof", so to speak.  The truth regarding this entire
fiasco would come out in court for all to see,
regardless of whether or not Dell uses its
considerable assets to buy a favorable, self-serving
outcome.

So, should your legal beagles choose to file suit,
bring it on.  … Hardball?  You bet.  Can only wonder
how many others have had to put up with this same
crap, or worse.  While they had no options, this
publication certainly does.  Can indeed expose it to
the light of day.

Bottom line, Mr. DeRosier, is the fact the office of
the CEO has not had the courtesy nor seen fit to
answer the enclosed letter, preferring to stonewall.
-- Or possibly never received the letter at all.

… Could have been conveniently intercepted by a crony
in the Dell mail department?  After all, you knew full
well it was coming.  Nothing less than a response from
the office of the CEO is acceptable.

If his office indeed received the correspondence, it
is glaringly indifferent to unresolved customer
complaints.  Has apparently refused to right the wrong
regardless of legal culpability or lack thereof.

Certainly, aggressively stupid since you've already
likely lost more in sales than it would have cost to
correct the problem.  Corporate image is priceless,
isn't it, or has Dell Computer indeed grown too fat
and complacent to care?  -- Or is this merely a matter
of one Dell employee desperately trying to cover his
ass and/or that of his department?

Sincerely,
Tim Chorney, Publisher

Letter To Dell CEO

Michael Dell
Chief Executive Officer
Dell Computers
One Dell Way
Round Rock, TX  78682

August 18, 2002

Dear Mr. Dell:

A Dell factory refurbished Latitude was purchased from Mr. Notebook by [redacted] of [redacted] and donated to this non-profit publication about a year ago.  Despite a nearly $900 expenditure, this machine has been a piece of trash since purchase.  Support from Mr. Notebook was non-existent.  Sadly, Dell Support was not much better.

Clearly, after a year's worth of problems, factory "refurbished" does not mean factory "rebuilt".  Apparently, the hard disk, floppy, and CD drives were never replaced.  -- The most likely sources of product failure.  In addition, the supposedly replaced lithium-ion battery module has a design flaw.  Although the machine has always been run on AC power and the battery maintained at 100% charge, intelligence circuitry in the module failed, rendering the battery worthless.  -- Coincidentally occurred during the latest email foray with Dell Support regarding floppy disk failure.  … Aren't I lucky?  Incredibly blessed?

All that was requested from Dell Support this time around, however, was a pointer to diagnostics that would have pinpointed the problem with the floppy drive.  … Not absolutely sure yet whether the failure lies only in the drive itself, or may also involve the socket and possibly bugs in drivers common to both the floppy and CD ROM drives.  Sadly, the CD ROM has never worked flawlessly either and has had occasional problems of reliability.  … At least, it's still working, however.  Unlike the floppy.

While Dell Support indeed provided a pointer to diagnostics, the download ironically requires use of boot disk and floppy.  Indeed, a problem of not being able to get from here to there.  When pointed out to Support, received no further assistance, -- just an outrageous run around.  … Despite assurances on the Dell website such email support supposedly exists for life of the product.

Mr. Dell, I can certainly understand you cannot be aware of all problems within a large corporation.  You do, however, have unaddressed flaws with "refurbished" machines sold by disreputable vendors fraudulently and phonily invoking Dell corporate name, image, and prestige, and more importantly, horrendous problems with a totally unresponsive Dell Support division.  No question, it is doing damage to corporate public image and reputation.  Sadly, although your machines are extremely popular, the greatest problem I've heard from users is lack of support.  Can certainly attest to that from personal experience.

Support outrageously refused to provide an email address for your office, -- unlike HP and other corporations more responsive to unresolved customer problems and complaints.  … An email address would have certainly provided an easy practical way of sending the entire email exchange over the last year.  Would have sorely indicated glaring obfuscation, non-responsiveness, and interminable intentional delay.  Hard to believe you're unaware.  Than again, Dell Corporation could apparently care less.

Mr. Notebook sold the Latitude as a Dell factory refurbished machine, supposedly tested by Dell-trained technicians, clearly so indicated on the bottom of the computer.  Again, the floppy, CD, and hard drives apparently were never replaced.  The most likely components to fail.   Since factory refurbished clearly does not mean factory rebuilt, the computer is no more than a used machine.  … A machine that could have been bought for half the price at a resale shop.  Even less if purchased privately.  With the price of new notebooks precipitously dropping recently to the $900 range and technically capable of running circles around this dinosaur, assuredly have no intention of dumping additional money into this piece of trash.

Mr. Notebook, on the day of purchase, claimed this machine to be factory refurbished.  Repeatedly made the claim.  Clearly, it was not.  Mr. Notebook quickly washed its hands of this lemon, failing to answer follow-up correspondence from this publication regarding product failure shortly after purchase.  Have no intention of wasting additional time and effort haggling further with Mr. Notebook, -- other than to publish an investigative article exposing this entire fiasco.  After all, the public is entitled to know exactly how business was done.

Due to several serious problems never corrected by Dell or Mr. Notebook since purchase of this falsely alleged Dell factory refurbished product, however, can honestly say at this point I would never again purchase a Dell computer, -- new, used, or "factory refurbished".  From anyone.  Certainly would never encourage others to purchase Dell either.  Indeed, why take the risk and put up with the hassle?

Regardless of whether or not Dell Corporation is technically or legally responsible for fraudulent claims made by a vendor of Dell machines, the damage done to corporate image is indeed severe nonetheless.  The lack of competent support and assistance from Dell Corporation in the matter is stunning.  Certainly, costly in terms of good faith and product loyalty lost.  Regardless of legal responsibility.

Have enclosed the last few emails from Support upper management refusing to provide an email address for your office and highly indicative and glaringly demonstrative of ongoing obfuscation over the last year.  Little more than canned, computer-generated messages containing phony platitudes and false concern designed to obfuscate and stonewall rather than provide technical assistance or resolution.  Apparently, the problem is top-down, since tone and substance of upper management Support is no different than that of lower level techs.  Although unquestionably a public service, have held off publishing an investigative article until I hear from your office.

Sincerely,

Fraudulent Deletion Of Ledger Websites

A letter To Burnet County Sheriff Joe Pollock has been posted recently.  Access it by clicking here.

As promised, the letter of complaint sent to Burnet County Judge Martin McLean, regarding fraudulent Ledger Maxpages and Stormpages site deletions originating from the Burnet County Library System and resulting in the ejection of this writer from library computers, has finally been posted.  Readers are reminded this is not the end of the matter.  Just the beginning.  For ongoing coverage of the criminal attacks as well as the letter to the Judge sent in response, click here.

Klee's Kaleidoscope

Be sure to click on Klee's Kaleidoscope for Harvey Klee's latest edition.  This publication is a forum for a diversity of viewpoints. All are encouraged to submit material.

An Honest Business

A rare commodity, honest businesses need a plug.  Although this publication receives no financial remuneration or funding of any kind from Mike's Transmission, this writer has personally known the owner of this new business quite some time and has enormous respect for his integrity.  Mike has had years of experience working on transmissions, -- foreign and domestic, standard and automatic.  This guy has heart and takes enormous pride in his work.  Give him a call at 915-423-1694.  The business is in the process of being launched.  If you like the quality of service, let me know.  Better yet, ask him to send a donation to the Ledger.

Unbridled Fear

As strongly asserted in the last 74 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.

Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.

If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
