CIA Ordered To Topple Saddam

Earlier this year, the "President" of the United States ordered Central Intelligence to oust the Iraqi dictator using lethal force if necessary to capture and/or kill him.  Although not surprising, a disturbing development.  Indeed, the Founders must be spinning in their graves.  Nevertheless, the "Chief Executive" has the support of both the Democratic Majority Leader in the Senate and Democratic Minority Leader in the House.  No question, there is little difference between both major political parties.

Assassinations of foreign leaders are against federal law.  Ole George "The Tush" has shrewdly tiptoed around the statute, however.  Certainly will receive no opposition from his cronies in the Democratic Party.  After all, no one, including this writer, wants Saddam in power.  So what's the problem?

First, it is extremely dangerous for literally a handful of Good Old Boys to make decisions regarding action which could easily and quickly become catastrophic.  Second, the Constitution clearly delegates war-making power to Congress, not the President.  The President, constitutionally, has extremely narrow latitude to wage war without a formal Declaration of War by Congress.  Sadly, these provisions were glaringly ignored during the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts.  -- With disastrous consequences.

While Congress funded both, it had virtually no say regarding the start of each.  Had it taken its war-making authority more seriously and refused to finance both debacles, a considerable amount of treasure and lives could have been saved.  Had it on the contrary decided it wise to declare war, it should have done so with the idea of going all out to win.  Sadly, it did not.  Nor did several Presidents involved in both conflicts.

Similarly, Congress did not declare war on Iraq.  Also, turned out to be a mistake.  President George H. Bush did not have the guts to properly finish the job.  Certainly understandable, since it more than likely would have cost dearly in terms of American lives lost.  Had Congress declared war, however, it would have removed the political burden from the former President and the job would have been completed.

A decade later, there no longer is any support from Europeans or Arabs to oust the "Butcher In Baghdad".   … Making things considerably more difficult for the jackass currently occupying the White House.   Worse, Saddam cornered will be extremely dangerous.  With nothing to lose, it is highly likely he'll respond with chemical and/or biological weapons.

Sadly, the "President" is manufacturing a non-existent crisis to expedite his political agenda.  -- The imposition of fascism and securing of a second term in office.  Should also wisely re-consider the wisdom of essentially starting a war and for all practical purposes ordering the assassination of a foreign leader.  What goes around usually comes around.  Sadly, it could encourage other governments to do the same to our officials, with disastrous consequences.

Middle East Violence Escalates

Violence in the Middle East heightened this week as suicide bombings and killing of Israeli settlers increased in the West Bank.  Palestinian militants promise attacks will continue until Israel withdraws from all occupied land.  Israel asserts it will continue to seize land after each terroristic attack.  Sadly, the conflict will continue for quite some time.  Especially, since the jackass occupying the White House continues to supply $3 billion in national treasure and weapons to the Israelis, and refuses to pressure them to return to pre-1967 borders.  Hypocritically and most disturbing of all, the "President" condemns Palestinians for their tactics, yet conveniently forgets the United States RIGHTFULLY engaged in terror itself during the Second World War via saturation bombing of Nazi Germany as well as  nuclear obliteration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Homeland "Security" Department

Demonstrative of the glaringly fascist nature of the proposed Homeland "Security" Department, whistleblowers will NOT be afforded protection enjoyed by other government employees.  More disturbing, it will not be subject to the Freedom Of Information Act, therefore not forced by law to release public information.  "Advisory" committees would be immune and receive no public input.  The Cabinet Secretary of this proposed Nazi organization would be granted veto power over Inspector General investigations and audits of itself and others.  The Homeland "Security" Department would be no more than a jack-booted mouthpiece for the jackass occupying the White House.  An agent of spin for our appointed "President" and his successors.

Americans With Disabilities Act Weakened

Once again, the Supreme Court chipped away at the landmark 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act, ruling boards and agencies accepting federal money are immune to suits for punitive damages.   Outrageously, the fascists sitting on the Court deliberately strengthened sovereign immunity in the process as well.  No question, "personal" "responsibility" is reserved for the unwashed masses.  Certainly, government goons and corporate executives are virtually exempt.  Without punitive damages, recipients of federal funding will do as they please.  … And are.

Warrantless Searches Ruled Constitutional

Remember the case of bus riders harassed by police thugs with a warrantless search?  Nazi "Justices" on the U.S. Supreme Court ruled June 17 in a 6-3 vote such searches are constitutional and not a violation of the Fourth Amendment.  Police goons do not have to first warn their victims they don't have to cooperate and indeed have a right to refuse.  Dissenting and to his credit, Justice Souter questioned the "voluntary" nature of the searches: "It is very hard to imagine that either Brown or Drayton would have believed that he stood to lose nothing if he refused to cooperate with the police or that he had any free choice to ignore the police altogether…No reasonable passenger could have believed that, only an uncomprehending one."    That's right, Judge.  Only a fascist would think differently, giving police thugs carte blanche to search with no warrant, not even probable cause.  Clearly, the six in the majority have never read the Fourth Amendment, -- or don't care.  Chillingly reminiscent of Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union.

G-String Fiasco

Readers will recall the g-string check recently reported in this publication conducted by Rancho Bernardo High School Assistant Principal Rita Wilson.  Ms. Wilson lifted the skirts of students entering a school dance, -- in front of officers, teachers, and male students.  Was she fired?  Hell, no.  The school board demoted her to a teaching position June 17.  Remarkably, this "gifted" educator claimed revealing clothing and suggestive dancing could result in sexual assaults.  Sure did, didn't they?  … Committed by this outrageous jackass herself.  Apparently, how she gets her cookies off.

Manure Smells Sweet

In the fascist world of the U.S. government, day is night, night is day, and manure smells sweet.  Example?  The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  According to bureaucratic boobs, toxic sludge dumped by the Army Corp of Engineers in the Potomac River is good for fish.  Why, you incredibly ask?  Very simple.  They're too busy swimming from pollution to get caught by fishermen.  California Republican Rep. George P. Radanovich is not amused: "To suggest that toxic sludge is good for fish because it prevents them from being caught by man is like suggesting that we club baby seals to death to prevent them from being eaten by sharks. It's ludicrous…This is one of the most frightening examples of bureaucratic ineptitude and backward logic I have ever seen."   Yes, Congressman, it is.  What will you do about it?

Congressional Leak

The "President" and "Slick" Dick Cheney are not happy campers regarding the congressional leak of information indicating the National Security Agency intercepted a phone call September 10, 2001 suggesting an attack would come the next day.  Tough, isn't it?  Why shouldn't that information be released?  After all, it is common knowledge the U.S. has tremendously sophisticated eavesdropping capability.  Why wasn't the "Administration" quite as concerned when it was recently disclosed the military wasn't scrambling satellite live-feed from Afghanistan to save a few bucks?

Seems the jackass occupying the White House is only concerned with political fall out from the revelation NSA had intercepted a transmission the day before the catastrophe and failed to quickly act on it.  Might make the people increasingly testy and restless regarding the lack of action by the "Administration" prior to the attack.  Certainly don't want the natives going ballistic, right, George?  Precisely why the "President" refuses to hold anyone responsible for the egregious intelligence failure.  When will the aggressively stupid public finally wake up and demand accountability from the "Chief Executive" and his henchmen?

Execution Of Mentally Retarded Ruled Unconstitutional

In a decision that must have sent a shiver up the spine of the Fascist Right, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 capital punishment for the mentally retarded is cruel and unusual punishment.  Certainly a step in the right direction, but not far enough.  The United States remains the only "civilized" nation still employing this horrendously barbaric act of legalized murder. Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas were not happy campers.  … Has to be tough for these outrageous Nazis, -- knowing full well public opinion is changing.

U.S. Citizen Denied All Constitutional Rights

U.S. Attorney Paul J. McNulty, in outrageous violation of his oath of office, argued in the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals June 19 American citizen Yaser Esam Hamdi is NOT entitled to an attorney or habeas corpus.  Certainly indicative of the evisceration and bastardization of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.  Readers, kindly understand the significance of what is happening to Hamdi.  He has been denied all civil and constitutional rights.  An American citizen.  Who's next?

White House Insufficiently Protected

A Cessna 182 recently passed near the White House unchallenged. Two F-16s were scrambled and did not intercept the private aircraft until more than 10 minutes after it left the vicinity.  Had it been up to no good, the "President", staffers, and anyone within the White House would have been extremely vulnerable.  What in hell is going on?  Is this the best authorities have to offer?  Was nothing learned from 9/11?

Ann Landers Passes On

Sadly, Ann Landers died at the age of 83, June 22.  -- Certainly, a class act and most popular columnist for the last five decades.  She changed with the times and offered advice nearly always on target and remarkably pithy.  ... Carefully and wisely developed an army of expert consultants who valued her work and its importance.  Well ahead of her time, Ann was never afraid to take on controversial issues and aggressively expressed exactly what she thought.  Caring deeply for her readers, she was a national treasure that will never be forgotten.

Ongoing E-Mail Privacy Dialogue With Lycos

Consider the following ongoing e-mail exchange with Lycos regarding newly requested user information.  Sadly and cowardly, Internet companies are falling all over themselves providing law enforcement customer data requested, -- often without a warrant.  Precisely why this writer believes Lycos may be demanding new information at the behest of their masters in government:

Jill,

Lycos has had no need for a specific mailing address up until this
time.  None.  No legitimate purpose for changing that policy was
articulated at the time it was recently demanded as a condition
for continued use of the account.  Nor was any reason given in any
of the correspondence to date.

Software is designed for specific reasons.  Information is asked
for equally specific reasons.  To say that it is now required by
your software does not answer the original complaint.  It simply
says the complete address is now required because it is now required.  A circular argument.

My concern with the change in policy is the continued aggressiveness
of law enforcement after 9/11 and enactment of an egregiously unconstitutional
"Patriot" Act.  There has been widespread reporting that Internet
companies such as Lycos, Yahoo, etc. are rolling over to all requests
made by law enforcement for information on users.  Even requests
made without warrants. Since you have provided no reasonable explanation
as to why full mail addresses are now required, red flags have gone up.

Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department
P.O. Box 825
Buchanan Dam, TX 78609

Dear Fire Department Supporter,

Generous support of your Fire Department assures that we are there when you need us with the right equipment and training.  We all think of our Fire Department when we think of fire, but your Department is also equipped to provide emergency support in other areas ranging from responding to hazardous material spills to removal of the injured in auto accidents.  A recent training exercise used the 'jaws of life' to provide entry to a severely damaged vehicle.

Your Fire Department is currently staffed by 14 volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  These members have jobs, family lives, social and civic responsibilities, and yet they manage to quickly respond to calls for aid regardless of time, day or night.  Your Firefighters need safe and effective equipment and training to continue to meet the expanding needs of our community.  Community population has increased by more than 54% between 1990 and 2000, and by another 16% between 2000 and 2002.

Through your support, and grant funding from LCRA, we have replaced our 1967 Pumper Truck with a much more capable 1987 Pierce Pumper.  We have also modified two surplus military vehicles to maintain and expand our brush truck inventory.  While we have upgraded our main Tanker in the last few years, our smaller 1969 Tanker is not reliable and requires replacement.

Our current planning includes replacing the old tanker, upgrading and expanding our breathing apparatus (for use in structure firefighting), and the addition of defibrillator capability.  Once again, we are requesting your assistance in meeting the needs of your Fire Department.  As always, we appreciate your contributions!

JUST THINK!  What if you had a fire and no one came?  We also have need of a few good people who are willing to help out their community.  We meet the first & third Thursdays of each month at 7:00 PM at the Fire Barn on Hwy 261.

FIRE DEPARTMENT BUILDING BURGLARIZED

Sometime between 10 PM Tuesday night, 5/21/02 and Thursday, 2 PM, 5/23/02 the fire station was broken into and over $4000 of equipment was taken.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Buchanan Fire Department, 793-9085 or contact the Sheriff's office in Llano.

Fraudulent Deletion Of Ledger Websites

A letter To Burnet County Sheriff Joe Pollock has been posted recently.  Access it by clicking here.

As promised, the letter of complaint sent to Burnet County Judge Martin McLean, regarding fraudulent Ledger Maxpages and Stormpages site deletions originating from the Burnet County Library System and resulting in the ejection of this writer from library computers, has finally been posted.  Readers are reminded this is not the end of the matter.  Just the beginning.  For ongoing coverage of the criminal attacks as well as the letter to the Judge sent in response, click here.

Klee's Kaleidoscope

Be sure to click on Klee's Kaleidoscope for Harvey Klee's latest edition.  This publication is a forum for a diversity of viewpoints. All are encouraged to submit material.

An Honest Business

A rare commodity, honest businesses need a plug.  Although this publication receives no financial remuneration or funding of any kind from Mike's Transmission, this writer has personally known the owner of this new business quite some time and has enormous respect for his integrity.  Mike has had years of experience working on transmissions, -- foreign and domestic, standard and automatic.  This guy has heart and takes enormous pride in his work.  Give him a call at 915-423-1694.  The business is in the process of being launched.  If you like the quality of service, let me know.  Better yet, ask him to send a donation to the Ledger.

Unbridled Fear

As strongly asserted in the last 60 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.

Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.

If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
