Not-So-Humbly Climbs The Learning Curve. ... Hopefully, Quickly.
The "President" is not a happy camper regarding his judicial nominations and remarked during a news conference only 40 of 92 have been confirmed by the Senate. Tough, isn't it? Particularly irked by the Judiciary Committee's treatment of Charles Pickering, Mr. Bush disingenuously whined: "By failing to allow full Senate votes on judicial nominees, a few senators are standing in the way of justice."
No, Mr. "President". They're not. In fact, quite the opposite. They're standing up against right-wing fascism. Extremism at its very worst. Had they not done so, civil rights and liberties would have been under even greater risk and attack than they already are, sir. A woman's right to do as she damn well sees fit with her uterus would be non-existent if candidates such as Pickering are seated in high judicial positions.
Precisely why you and your henchmen are nominating such extremists. Hopefully, the Democrats will stand their ground and continue to stonewall highly biased "conservative" nominees hell-bent on legislating their moral beliefs from the bench. Should they not do so, the last nails will be driven into the coffin of liberty.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Mar. 14 wisely killed the Pickering nomination. Senate Republican leader Trent Lott isn't a very happy camper, -- pompously and loudly whining: "I'm not going to let go of it for a long time." … Is that right, Trent? Indeed, Mr. Lott has threatened retaliation, starting with blocking a Daschle aide appointment to the FCC. Interesting, isn't it? Democrats are already warning such behavior will backfire.
More importantly, Pickering, a bona fide fascist, was stopped dead in his tracks when his nomination was blocked. Clearly, a victory for the Center and Left. About time. Hopefully, a harbinger of things to come as other Bush nominees are carefully considered by the Senate. Interestingly, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy strongly asserted the day after the Pickering vote the nomination of Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen to a federal judicial position should be reviewed by the White House.
Seems Enron campaign donations have thrown her appointment in question. -- So what else is new? The Senator should be more concerned with Ms. Owen's extremist views, however. Certainly, her record raises questions about her qualification, temperament, and impartiality. Worse yet, she is known for legislating her Right-Wing views from the bench.
Fortunately, the Pickering defeat indicates the Senate
is willing to challenge extremist Bush appointees. Senator Lott doesn't
see it that way, however. He considers the defeat a "slap at Mississippi".
… Hey, Trent? Don't flatter yourself, sir. It isn't a slap
at your state. It is repudiation of Right Wing fascism and extremist
principles. No more. No less.
Amazingly, the American military never seems to get enough. Seemingly, an endless gravy train. Iowa Republican Rep. Charles E. Grassley during testimony before a House panel claimed in excess of some 700 military officers have defaulted on personal expenses on credit cards issued by the government. Mr. Grassley pointedly asserted: "D.O.D. credit cards are being taken on a shopping spree, and the cardholders think they are immune from punishment…And they are."
Incredibly, Tanya Mays reportedly charged some $12,000 in personal expenses while employed at the Navy Public Works Center, was never forced to repay the debt, and was subsequently promoted to a top Army financial management position in the Pentagon. What personal goodies did this individual purchase? Clothing, food, a computer, and gift certificates.
In excess of 46,000 DOD employees charged some $62 million
in travel expenses, -- and then conveniently defaulted. … What the
hell. The banks wrote off the bad debts. It's only money, right?
"Personal responsibility" is reserved for the unwashed masses. Not
military officers. Certainly not civilian employees already on the
taxpayer teat. Then again, as American as mom and apple pie and,
of course, magnificently patriotic.
Remember NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown? A magnificent player in his day, no? Certainly a joy to watch Sundays on the gridiron. Apparently, he's also a wife-beater and has a serious problem controlling his temper. On June 15, 1999 he had a horrendous argument with his wife, Monique. Apparently took a baseball bat to her car as well. Subsequently was convicted of misdemeanor vandalism. … Destroying his own property. Who'd a 'thunk' it, no? Only in America. Wasn't convicted of assaulting his wife because she wouldn't press charges.
With a fist clenched high in the air, Mr. Brown was taken into custody to serve a six month jail sentence. Seems he had refused a year of counseling and 400 hours of community service. Judge Dale S. Fischer wasn't a particularly happy camper, and subsequently jailed the former running back in response. If the reports are correct, this case is one hell of an example of how screwed up the judicial system glaringly is.
Apparently, Mr. Brown is a violent criminal and should
have been fully prosecuted for assaulting his wife. If guilty, should
have certainly been removed from the streets for quite some time to protect
others. Instead, he was outrageously convicted of destroying his
own property. Can certainly understand, however, why anyone would
go to jail with a fist clenched high in the air for being outrageously
convicted of bashing the crap out of a personally owned vehicle.
… Although not particularly an advisable or smart thing to do, since when
the hell is it a crime to vandalize your own g-ddamned vehicle? Worse
yet, the way this entire matter was handled only heaps further scorn on
a judicial system glaringly known for its corruption and abuse.
Fascists on the Right strongly condemn any questioning of the "President's" handling of the war. Including that originating in Congress. They seem to conveniently ignore the fact Ole' George is only the commander in chief, not Die Fuhrer. The Constitution mandates Congress with authority to declare war and fund it. Not the president. It is up to the House and Senate to review war policy and question the "Chief Executive" every step of the way.
To do less, would certainly be unpatriotic and shirking
of duty. Pointedly, regarding the "war against terrorism", there
is no clear agenda. No time line. No definition of victory.
No endgame plan. Just a murky indeterminate prosecution of war against
an enemy equally ill-defined. Worse yet, the jackass occupying the
White House reserves the right to carry the war anywhere he damn well pleases
and unilaterally if necessary. After all, it's not his money being
spent, nor his blood spilled. Despite his phony crocodile tears to
the contrary.
To his credit, the "President" of the United States recently placed enormous pressure on Israel regarding its treatment of the Palestinians. About time, George. Sharon's position seems to be softening as a result. More importantly, a significant number of Israeli's are beginning to realize the intransigence of their government threatens the very existence of the Israeli state. Many understand Israel must withdraw from the occupied territories.
If Israel does not return to its pre-1967 borders, its very existence is threatened. Already, Palestinian youth are more than willing to continue carrying the war to Israel proper. Suicide attacks are becoming more prevalent and now include young women. The median age in the area is quickly dropping as a population explosion continues.
Young people appear to be desperately attempting to secure suitcase-sized nuclear weapons. Frightening, if true. Israel is a tiny country geographically. A few such weapons placed strategically could destroy it. The Arab world outnumbers Israel population-wise. … All the more reason a permanently brokered piece is essential.
The Palestinians, however, have demonstrated no ability to date to govern themselves. … Arafat can't even see to it garbage is properly collected, never mind control the more violent under his jurisdiction. A third party will have to take up the vacuum once Israel withdraws to its pre-1967 borders. Agreement on Jerusalem will be extremely difficult.
As center of the world's three great religions, -- Judaism,
Christianity, and Islam, Jerusalem should belong to all in general and
no one in particular. While there is agreement in general this be
so, implementation is the problem. The devil is in the details, and
joint-sovereignty will not be easy. Yet, there is no choice if the
area is ever to enjoy peace.
Pointedly, Texans have once again proven how shallow and barbaric this state is. Andrea Yates was convicted of capital murder in the killing of her children. … Despite the fact this woman is severely mentally ill. Even the prosecution has admitted such. Yet, she is being legally held responsible for the crimes and will be punished. Mrs. Yates belongs in a mental institution for the rest of her life. With no chance of ever being released.
Bloodthirsty prosecutors and others, however, demanded her execution. The same g-ddamned hypocrites who get down on their knees every Sunday and beg the Creator for forgiveness. … While disingenuously fervently thanking Him or Her for personally being better than this terribly disturbed young mother. Again, apparently the "Christian" thing to do, no?
The jury spent some four hours deliberating her guilt, and approximately forty minutes to sentence her to life imprisonment rather than lethal injection. … Mighty generous, no? At the very least, demonstrates little consideration was given to the case. Worse yet, it reinforces existing policy dictating the mentally ill will be held legally responsible for their crimes. The government claims she'll receive treatment while incarcerated. Should it happen, it will be one of the few times in Texas history. It will also occur in solitary confinement for the next forty years.
Prosecuting attorney Joseph Owmby falsely crowed:
"Justice was done today...I'm not disappointed they did not come back with
the death penalty. What they came back with was supported by the evidence."
… Hey, Joey? If that's the case why did you press for lethal injection,
you jackass? This fine "prosecutor" went on further to disingenuously
claim: "We took no pleasure in prosecuting Mrs. Yates…"And we take no joy
in this result, or any result that may have occurred." … Is that
right, Joey? At best, the assertion is phony and self-serving.
At worst, no more than a lie. -- How else do glaringly corrupt
and abusive "prosecutors" get their cookies off? … It's the power,
stupid. Despite the previous statements by Owmby, "prosecutors"
are apparently not satisfied and are reportedly considering charges against
Russell Yates, Andrea's husband. Stay tuned.
Interestingly, the Right is quite unhappy about supposedly anti-American sentiment fostered on U.S. campuses. Tough, isn't it? What are they crying about? After all, the "President" has no organized resistance anywhere in the United States and is enjoying record-high approval ratings. Fascists, however, are not satisfied. They want unanimity.
Not to be. Why should there be? In fact, it not only is the obligation but the duty of anyone with a semblance of intelligence to question and peacefully challenge corrupt and abusive "lawful" authority. The Right, however, disingenuously dismisses dissent as "political correctness". Now, the American Council of Trustees and Alumni are blaming administrators and professors for supposedly growing anti-American views on campus.
With a jackass appointed by a Right Wing Supreme Court to the Presidency, they have no "liberal" targets any longer in the Executive branch. Dissent and criticism, however, are unacceptable to narrow-minded fascists hell-bent on consolidating power and influence. Too bad. When will an aggressively stupid public finally wake up and recognize the growing cancer in this once free republic?
Working definition of fascism for new readers? An
abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a pernicious blend of government,
big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel cynically placed on the
throat of the masses, justified in principle by perversion and bastardization
of religion.
According to a report from Texans For Public Justice released March 14, Free Enterprise PAC spent $110,296 in the recent primary, opposing six GOP legislators considered too tolerant of abortion, gays, and euthanasia. All six nonetheless won. Interesting, isn't it? Couldn't be public opinion is changing, could it? Texans For Public Justice is a non-partisan non-profit group researching the influence of money in politics and government.
Might be time for Texas politicians to be a bit more tolerant of groups and ideas hated by the Fascist Right. Indeed, pointed venom backed by substantial sums of money targeting politically incorrect candidates backfired on those most determined to impose their "religious" and moral beliefs on others. About time.
Maybe just maybe there is some hope liberty will indeed
survive in a state that is growing increasingly fascist by the day.
Hopefully, bigoted hateful views embraced by the Religious Right and their
shills in government are not truly reflective of the population at large.
We'll see, won't we?
As reported earlier, the sovereignty of the United States dangerously reaches across the universe, and apparently is unlimited. As a result, a true threat to the sovereignty of other nations. Ahmed Saeed Omar Sheikh, held in Pakistan on charges related to the abduction and murder of U.S. reporter Daniel Pearl, was recently indicted by a Newark, N.J. federal grand jury. The United States government wants him extradited. Interesting, isn't it?
The murder occurred under Pakistani jurisdiction and soil. Not on American soil, or what would be considered American soil such as an embassy. Yet, the United States government is using federal statutes extending back some twenty years to exert sovereignty over a foreign nation. Fascinating, isn't it? … What happens when the favor is some day returned by a disgruntled foreign power?
Of even greater concern, what happens when American citizens
leave the United States to engage in some activity considered legal elsewhere
but illegal in the U.S.? Will the long arm of American "sovereignty"
subject them to prosecution here for "crimes" not illegal elsewhere?
As citizens rejoice when Ahmed Saeed Omar Sheikh is extradited, they ought
to think what the long-term consequences may be. Then again, the
American people are too aggressively stupid to see beyond the bridge of
their figurative collective nose.
Nazi tactics continue unabated in the treatment of foreign "detainees" incarcerated by U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and his fascist "Justice" Department. Inmates are not told why they're being jailed, presumed guilty until proven innocent, deprived of the right to habeas corpus and prompt access to legal counsel, are heavily shackled, subjected to prolonged solitary confinement, and afforded inadequate exercise. According to Amnesty International Executive Director William Schulz: "The government's treatment of these individuals is simply unacceptable and is a violation of international law." That's right, Mr. Schulz. Worse yet, it is unconstitutional and un-American.
Nazism apparently has become acceptable in the United
States. Adding insult to injury, the United States government will
not release the number of individuals incarcerated under sealed indictments
and as material witnesses. … Certainly, the most ominous and dangerous
behavior displayed by glaringly abusive Nazi officials to date. --
In addition to implementation of The "Patriot" Act, a statute eviscerating
the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments. These officials
have betrayed their oaths of office and should be removed from power.
Yet, the American people remain clueless, cowardly insisting on keeping
their heads securely lodged up a bodily orifice that seldom sees the light
of day.

As strongly asserted in the last 46 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.
Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.
Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?
Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.
If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
