*****Anti-Terrorism Bill On Hold*****

Amazing at least one Senator has guts, isn't it? Republicans, with Democrats outrageously marching in goosestep, desperately tried recently to ram an unconstitutional anti-terrorism bill through the Senate. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis. courageously refused to go along. Stunning, isn't it? Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D. wanted the legislation to pass without amendment or debate. Not to be. Feingold would have no part of it, wanting a few hours of debate as well as an opportunity to introduce four amendments protecting civil liberties.

Civil liberties? What the hell are they? After all, there is no longer any substantive difference between both major political parties. Precisely why the bill almost passed unchanged and unchallenged. Attorney General John Ashcroft has placed enormous pressure on Congress to quickly further eviscerate civil liberties and constitutional rights in a supposed fight against terrorism. Sadly, Ole' Johnny Boy and the jackass in the White House are desperately trying to take advantage of current circumstances to ratchet up their fascist agenda.

Feingold, however, had the wisdom to put on the brakes. He wanted four additional amendments limiting police powers. First, the right of government goons to secretly search a suspect's home would have been eliminated. Second, provisions allowing wiretaps of phones would have been narrowed. Third, citizens' personal records would have been protected from FBI goons. Fourth, the fed's authority to wiretap computers would have been clarified. Due to gutless fear and an embrace of fascism by both parties, it was not to be.

About time someone had finally stood up for constitutional rights, however. In Feingold's own words: "It is crucial that civil liberties in this country be preserved." "Otherwise the terrorists will win the battle against American values without firing another shot." "It is our constitutional duty in this body to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States." Right on, Senator. Thanks for having the courage to stand up. Too bad other pompous asses, including Kay Bailey Hutchison and Phil Gramm, weren't and aren't quite as concerned with liberty.

Alarmingly and despite Feingold's valiant efforts, Congress is about to vote on anti-terrorist legislation allowing federal goons to monitor "relevant" e-mail and Internet use, share privileged information such as grand jury testimony with counter-terrorism officials, and conduct searches without informing targets. Care to have your e-mail and Internet history monitored by agents? Think innocent people won't be caught up in aggressive law enforcement? Should you ever testify as an innocent witness in front of a grand jury, care to have your particulars shared throughout federal agencies? Support law enforcement searching your home without your knowledge? Wake up, dear readers. The Fourth Amendment has been eviscerated by fascist government. Federal thugs intend to suspend this article for four years. Aren't we lucky? Think it won't be renewed?

Sadly, civil liberties mean nothing to a fascist Supreme Court. Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist wrote "It is neither desirable nor is it remotely likely that civil liberty will occupy as favored a position in wartime as it does in peacetime." This extremist prophetically wrote those words in "All the Laws But One," published in 1998. Frightening, isn't it? -- Especially coming from a fascist who placed his hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution.

*****Gut-Wrenching Fear*****

Sad to see how truly gutless and soft Americans have become. Among many other examples, the Anthrax scare is a case in point. Of 300 million of us, only one has died and at the time of this writing eight others are being treated for the infection. Yet, the citizenry is a awash in gut-wrenching fear. Sadly, the terrorists are accomplishing their mission, -- the imposition of terror in the minds and hearts of our people. Too bad.

Similarly locally, home-grown domestic terrorists of the 33rd Judicial District Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) have successfully accomplished the same goal. As reported last week, NET criminal behavior is certainly amusingly exposing the truly gutless cowards among us. ... Some who have previously disingenuously and pompously beat their chest and phonily boasted about their courage. When the shit hit the fan, however, they ran as quickly as they could in the opposite direction. Others, however, have come forward to take their place. Interesting, isn't it?

Human nature is fascinating and filled with inconsistencies and contradictions. A crisis indeed brings out the best and worst. We seem to have forgotten, however, courage is not the absence of gut-wrenching fear. Rather, it is acting despite and in spite of that fear.

*****Bush Doctrine*****

As any bona fide fascist, the "President" sees things only in black and white. There are no shades of gray. No color. ... Not possible for people straight-jacketed in their thought. Right Wing extremists, as the Far Left, offer oversimplistic analysis and solutions to enormously difficult problems. George "The Tush" Bush is no exception. Example? "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists." The "Chief Executive" made this statement, later referred to as the Bush Doctrine, in his September 20 speech to Congress.

Ole' George has made it clear to our allies the United States, if necessary, will unilaterally decide which nations support terrorism and what will be done to enforce behavioral change. After all, we're Americans and know what's best, don't we? Already, members of the coalition are beginning to fidget as Bush bombs Afghanistan. Be interesting to see how long support continues as the Muslim world reacts increasingly negatively to the war.

The "President" continues to wring his hands regarding the hatred of the U.S. in the Arab world. He can't seem to understand why. ... The height of Aryan arrogance. Hey, George? Remove your head from your ass, sir. Aggressive stupidity is especially unbecoming an American president. Think Palestinians enjoy being killed by American supplied F-16's and Apache attack helicopters in an 8 or 9 to one kill ratio by bloodthirsty Israeli goons? Think the vast majority of impoverished Arabs who have received nothing from American Big Oil are happy campers, -- as Saudi sheiks grow richer and richer as Americans are looted at the gas pump?

*****Ashcroft Centralizing Prosecution Of Terrorism*****

Attorney General John Ashcroft, despite hundreds of unconstitutional detainments with uncertainty of major indictments and prosecutions, has aggressively centralized control of federal anti-terrorism efforts. New York federal prosecutors will apparently not try any cases. Johnny Boy is arrogantly reserving overall decision-making to himself. ... Further evidence of Ashcroft's fascist agenda for the Justice Department.

New York United States Attorney Mary Jo White will be left out in the cold. Think this will resonate with New Yorkers? Already, New York federal prosecutors are unhappy campers. ... Quite hypocritical coming from a Republican who supposedly is philosophically opposed to government centralization. Then again, the agenda is fascism: the imposition of an abusive and dangerous oligarchy based on a pernicious blend of government, big business, and religion. ... A boot-heel cynically placed on the throat of the masses, justified in principle by perversion and bastardization of religion.

*****Bush Clamps Down On Leaks*****

Not only is the "President" desperately attempting to keep information regarding the war effort from the public, he had even temporarily restricted congressional access, due supposedly to a security breach. Outrageously, "The Tush" had decided to severely limit security briefings to the Senate majority and minority leaders, House speaker and minority leader, chairpersons and ranking minority members of the intelligence committees. Other members of Congress? Who the hell are they, right, Mr. "President"? Within 24 hours, Ole' George recanted, -- after angry legislators threatened to hold up legislation.

What the hell is the "Chief Executive" so afraid of? Giving away the location of the cave bin Laden is holed up in? All joking aside, this is the first time in history, a president has so restricted the flow of information. The jackass, who stole office with the help of a fascist Supreme Court, is putting President Richard Nixon to shame regarding his outrageous paranoia. Unlike previous wars, correspondents have not been allowed access to the military. Why? What is Ole' George so afraid of? The truth? Interestingly, Mr. Bush was incensed someone had leaked there was a 100% chance of additional terrorist attacks once military action commenced in Afghanistan. Duh. ... Readers are reminded Attorney General John Ashcroft had for days warned of the same...

*****Attorney General Restricts Public Information*****

In an October 12 memo, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft gave government the green light to restrict public information to journalists and others. Stunning, isn't it? All in the name of "national security". Imagine that. Any agencies turning down requests "legitimately" will be backed by the Department of Justice. The mark of a tyrant is the control of information. Hitler and Stalin were masters. Apparently, the "President" is following in their footsteps.

Readers are reminded the Freedom of Information Act is used by the press to expose corruption and abuse on the federal level. The Public Information Act is employed similarly at the state level. Both mean absolutely nothing with government unwilling to enforce either. Government at any level wants nothing exposed, precisely why state and federal statutes were enacted. Sadly, both laws are toothless and routinely ignored.

*****Goals Ill-Defined*****

Mr. Bush has deliberately reserved the right to attack terrorists and the countries that harbor them. Yet, he had temporarily restricted access of members of Congress to security briefings, wishing to wage a war in near secrecy. The Constitution clearly gives Congress the responsibility to declare war. Yet, the "President" has usurped that power with the acquiescence of legislators. ... Even tolerating temporarily the outrageous attempt by Mr. Bush to keep rank and file members out of the loop. Where will the "President" draw the line? Will he seriously consider attacking communist China if he decides it is aiding and abetting or harboring terrorists? While admittedly far-fetched, how far will Congress indeed allow its power and responsibility to be usurped by a "President" enamored of himself and his power?

*****Supreme Court Supports Citadel Good Old Boy System*****

A fascist Court once again displayed its true colors and refused to hear an appeal from an abused female cadet who had been denied constitutional equal protection under the law. Jeanie Mentavolos had been assaulted in 1996 by male upperclassmen who had entered her room without permission, repeatedly kicked her, and then set her shirt on fire. ... These are the same men who will lead our country into battle. Yet, the Court could care less. Kangaroo justice is alive and well and extends all the way to the highest court of the land. Not surprising, is it? After all, this is the same Court who appointed the current occupant of the White House, "President."

*****Justice Thomas A Liar?*****

Couldn't be, could it? Fascists don't lie, do they? After all, the Extreme Right "knows" Anita Hill lied like hell during Thomas' confirmation hearings, don't they? Seems "His Honor" may have lied himself during those hearings. ... Who'd a 'thunk' it, no? Couldn't be. Remember Senate questioning of this jackass during 1991 hearings? Ole' Clarence claimed to have never discussed or debated the outcome or substance of Roe v. Wade constitutionally supporting the right of a woman to do as she pleases with her uterus.

According to "Clarence Thomas, a Biography" by Andrew Peyton Thomas, "His Honor" had conversations with three people about the decision in the mid 70's through the 80's. Not surprising if true, is it? After all, the Extreme Right like the Left will lie like hell to enforce its agenda and further its aims. Sadly, Hill had nothing to gain exposing Thomas for the sexist he apparently is. Although her action was courageous and selfless, it cost her dearly personally.

She was savagely attacked by extremists like radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Sadly, Limbaugh himself is having problems with sudden onset deafness. Certainly wouldn't want to see this unabashed fascist off the air, however. He's too damned easy a target, being nearly as devoid of substance as the "President" himself. ... Apparently why he is so appealing to the 50 million who listen each week. A sad commentary to the lack of substance of the American people themselves.

On a far more serious note, the death of Barbara Olson, wife of Bush Solicitor General Theodore Olson tragically on the plane that struck the Pentagon, is a staggering loss of a truly gifted spokesperson for the Fascist Right. Ms. Olson was extremely articulate in her defense of the growing fascist agenda in the United States. Unlike Limbaugh, however, she had profound intellectual depth. Sadly, her husband is desperately pushing Congress to pass glaringly unconstitutional anti-terrorism legislation that will further eviscerate the Bill of Rights and civil liberties. Un-American, but then again who the hell gives a damn?

*****Perfection*****

Typographical errors drive you nuts? Been a problem for many area publications, including this one. ... Especially since there is no spell check function in the software provided by Maxpages. Being a speed reader, it is also extremely difficult to proof-read one's own material.

Compounding the problem is the limitation of the software itself. After over two years of effort looking for a way around this perpetually nagging problem however, a solution has finally been found. ... A round-about way of finding most errors without use of a proof-reader.

Some of you may have noticed earlier editions being updated. Only typographical errors are being corrected, however. -- Not substance. Fortunately, there were far fewer errors than expected. Usually one or two per edition so far.

... Extremely painful though, for a perfectionist. All joking aside, typographical accuracy is important and every effort is made to ensure it.

*****Unbridled Fear*****

As strongly asserted in the last 25 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.

Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.

If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
