*****Corporate Welfare*****

A $15 billion welfare package for the airlines has passed Congress. Whatever happened to "rugged individualism" as preached by Republicans and their shills on the Extreme Right during welfare reform back in 1996? What about "personal responsibility" as also championed by these "conservatives"? Now, corporate Good Old Boys are hurting and quite ready to accept an undeserved government handout.

... While having gleefully laughed their portly asses off all the way to the bank when impoverished women and children took it hard up the rump without the Vaseline over the last five years. Nothing quite like hypocrisy is there? Where indeed is the "moral" outrage of the "conservative" element? Worse yet, Congress is considering a $100 billion "stimulus" package for the economy. Sadly, more corporate welfare. ... And only the beginning.

*****National ID Card*****

Incredibly, shortly after the September 11 attack, 70% of the American public supported the idea of a national ID card to "reduce" terrorism. ... Nothing quite like aggressive stupidity, is there? Apparently, we haven't become enough of a fascist police state yet for the vast majority of our cowardly population. Now, they want to be forced to carry papers as were citizens of Nazi Germany. -- Stunning coming from a population supposedly cherishing liberty.

The Cato Institute, although usually quite right of Center, is indeed correct in its assessment: "A national identity system is a threat to freedom because, once a system is in place, it's the equivalent to governmental prior restraint. Before an employer hires a person, he runs the card past agencies in Washington. Before a person buys a gun, or opens, or closes a bank account, there's a check with Washington - there's a ripple effect throughout society. Besides, government agencies will share the information about the cardholder. That's how our privacy is threatened."

Fortunately, the jackass in the White House has not yet pushed for a national ID card. Nor is there any legislation pending in Congress. Sadly, it's just a matter of time. Wake up friends. We're losing our country. Terrorists? -- They're the least of our problems. Want to see the most dangerous? Look in the mirror.

*****Civil Liberties Threatened*****

The Bush "Administration" led by the "President" and his glaringly fascist Attorney General is desperately attempting to quickly ram through Congress anti-terrorism legislation that would utterly decimate whatever is left of civil liberties in the United States. Legislators are slowly waking up to the extreme danger represented by the "Administration's" efforts. Interestingly, both the Left and Right.

Afraid of retribution from a cowardly public, however, they gutlessly assert police need the proper "tools" to combat the terrorism problem. They already have them. Most pointedly, inept officials didn't do their jobs prior to the attack, despite an annual expenditure of billions. Now, in a cowardly effort to falsely place blame and avoid personal responsibility for an egregious failure, these same fascists are proposing new legislation that would complete the utter decimation of the Bill of Rights. Adolph and Benito would have been proud.

*****Material Witness Released*****

San Antonio Dr. Al-Badr Al-Hazmi was held for approximately a week and a half as a material witness by FBI goons. Apparently having nothing on him, he was finally released. Sounds like Nazi Germany, doesn't it? At least 352 people have already been taken into custody by government thugs. Another 400 are sought. Justice? Due process? Habeas corpus? What the hell's that? Racial profiling? Nah. Never. Certainly not in the United States. Couldn't be.

*****Bush Airliner Shoot Down Order*****

The "President" has given two Air Force generals authority to order the shoot-down of hijacked airliners. Military experts such as analyst Nick Cook claim, however, "This is born of desperation and I do think it is wildly impractical." Duh. After all, a commercial jet can fly 100 miles in 15 minutes, making it difficult for fighters to respond in time, -- provided terrorists wait until the last few minutes to take over an aircraft before hitting a target. Interesting, isn't it? Again, appears Mr. Bush has engaged in symbolism over substance.

Regardless, Ole' George and his cronies have clearly not completely thought through the ramifications. ... If a hijacked plane fully loaded with fuel is shot down in a heavily-populated area shortly after take off, damage on the ground would be horrendous. Wouldn't want to confuse the "President" with the truth, would we?

*****Giuliani Wants Mayoral Term Extended*****

That's right. Ole' Rudy wants his term as New York City Mayor extended an additional three months. The law? What the hell's that, right, Mr. Mayor? Readers are reminded "His Honor" is subject to term limits. -- Term limits supported by the majority of New York City citizens. Yet, many of them want this arrogant politician to remain in office, despite the law.

Ole' Rudy indeed cleaned up the City during his reign, -- at the expense of civil liberties and the Bill of Rights. Since the average New Yorker was not directly affected by Gestapo tactics of New York's "Finest", most people could care less. ... Until it happens to them of course. Now, they want "His Honor" to remain because he has indeed done a fine job during the crisis.

Again, the American people are aggressively stupid. After all, two-thirds of us trust government to do the right thing, according to a recent poll conducted immediately after the September 11 attack. Most pointedly, the aggressively stupid get exactly what they truly deserve. Too bad, the rest of us have to suffer from the consequences.

*****Murderous Police Officer Exonerated*****

Remember the recent riots in Cincinnati back in April when a white police officer wantonly killed a black man? The officer was not charged with murder. Police officers seldom are. After all, they're protected by corrupt and abusive prosecutors and outrageous "judges" who coddle murderous criminals dressed in blue, wielding badges and guns. Case in point?

Officer Stephen Roach, 27, was acquitted by a "judge" of obstructing official business and negligent homicide. Justice? What the hell's that? The officer requested the verdict to come from a "judge", not a jury. Convenient, no? The dead victim? Who the hell cares? After all, officers don't murder, do they? Pointedly, he got what he "deserved", didn't he?

*****Think U.S. Supreme Court Will Reaffirm Civil Liberties?"*****

Think again. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor is the first member of the Supreme Court to speak publicly about changes to be made after the September 11 attack: "We're likely to experience more restrictions on our personal freedom than has ever been the case in our country." Particularly chilling coming from one of the more moderate members of the Court.

Exactly what the "President" and his fascist cronies desperately seek, however. Should it happen, the terrorist element will have won. The Founders must indeed be spinning in their graves. When or if fear and determined effort by the "Administration" finally obliterate what is left of the Bill of Rights, it will be time to overthrow tyrannical government. Precisely why government fears gun ownership.

*****Posse Comitatus Act of 1878*****

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 as well as the Third Amendment are designed to protect the American people against abuse from the military. It was the intention of the Founders as well as Congress that the military was not to enforce domestic criminal laws. The Act has certainly been eviscerated over the years.

Now, the "President" has chosen to employ the National Guard to essentially police airports indefinitely. -- Supposedly until the federal government comes up to speed. Interesting, isn't it? What's next? Should we have soldiers routinely patrolling inner city neighborhoods? Why not have them round up truants, no? Get 'em back into school, you understand. Why not? After all, the ends justify the means, don't they? Martial law? In the United States? Nah. Never. No way. Could never happen.

*****Bush Supports Tenet*****

The "President" went well out of his way to praise and support CIA Director George J. Tenet. ... This, despite an inexcusable intelligence failure leading to the death of some 6,000 people and the expenditure of billions for national "security". Yet, the American people remain sound asleep and marching in goosestep with the "Chief Executive." Think the public would have remained gutlessly silent had it been Clinton or Gore in the White House?

*****Perfection*****

Typographical errors drive you nuts? Been a problem for many area publications, including this one. ... Especially since there is no spell check function in the software provided by Maxpages. Being a speed reader, it is also extremely difficult to proof-read one's own material.

Compounding the problem is the limitation of the software itself. After over two years of effort looking for a way around this perpetually nagging problem however, a solution has finally been found. ... A round-about way of finding most errors without use of a proof-reader.

Some of you may have noticed earlier editions being updated. Only typographical errors are being corrected, however. -- Not substance. Fortunately, there were far fewer errors than expected. Usually one or two per edition so far.

... Extremely painful though, for a perfectionist. All joking aside, typographical accuracy is important and every effort is made to ensure it.

*****Unbridled Fear*****

As strongly asserted in the last 22 editions, gut-wrenching fear generated by the Narcotics Enforcement Team is quite impressive. After all, these Nazi stormtroopers not only outrageously intimidate defendants and their gutless attorneys, but even innocent third parties who have suffered at their corrupt and abusive hands.

Recently, a source came forward with allegations regarding the death of a loved one under exceptionally curious circumstances. Sadly, the survivor got cold feet.

Most pointedly and quite publicly, how in hell do you expect these abuses to end if you don't have the guts to stand up and expose them to the light of day?

Every time a source cowardly runs the other way, the corrupt and abusive sons of bitches win. Every g-ddamned time. Worse yet, another nail is driven into the coffin of liberty.

If you don't have the courage to stand up and do the right thing, why should this writer continue to place himself in physical and legal jeopardy trying to expose the outrageous corruption and abuse?
