Letter To Burnet County Judge
March 23, 2002
As promised, the following is the letter of complaint sent to Burnet County Judge Martin McLean, regarding fraudulent Ledger Maxpages and Stormpages site deletions originating from the Burnet County Library System, and resulting in the ejection of this writer from library computers. Readers are reminded this is not the end of the matter. Just the beginning.

Re: Fraudulent Website Deletions
March 3, 2002
Dear Judge:
Not surprisingly, received no response from the County Librarian or her colleague to recent attached correspondence regarding fraudulent Ledger website deletions. Both women as well as the other five ladies at Herman Brown, however, are indeed beyond reproach. … Apparently, just sadly lacking in backbone. Since there is no question of their integrity, this writer can only assume stonewalling is top-down and has been ordered by you and/or your colleagues on the Commissioners' Court. Too bad. Terribly shortsighted and aggressively stupid if true. Then again, to be expected from corrupt and abusive government.
Pointedly, there is strong evidence suggesting Mr. Featherston committed state and federal criminal offenses repeatedly. In addition, there are civil issues of liability involved as well. To date, my only interest, however, has been to eventually expose the culprit on the website and see to it he is removed from a position of trust he sorely betrayed and is glaringly unqualified for. While any dolt can illegally install $30 key-sniffing software and steal passwords, properly maintaining a network is another matter. Most importantly, the public must be protected from such outrageous predators. … That extremely narrow focus and interest could certainly quickly change as circumstances warrant, however.
In fact, should you and your colleagues continue stonewalling and take no action to rectify the matter, criminal complaints will be filed with state and federal authorities after this publication painstakingly completes its investigation. While Featherston may indeed take great comfort in our apparently glaringly corrupt, abusive, and inept District Attorney, federal authorities may not view such brazen criminal activity quite so kindly. Be interesting to see, no? Then again with unabashed fascists occupying the White House and "Justice" Department, a corrupt and abusive officer may indeed be coddled and protected. … Almost always are anyway, aren't they, sir?
Regardless, generously but foolishly provided fodder germane to this matter is already enormous and amusingly growing. Who'd a "thunk" it, no? All joking aside and pointedly, hard to believe Featherston operated on his own anyway, isn't it, Judge? Difficult to imagine he didn't receive direction, support, and counsel not only from Llano County authorities and the District Attorney's office, but from Burnet County officials as well.
After all, there has been no legal way to remove Ledger websites since nothing but truth is posted. Certainly can understand profound frustration of savagely targeted officials though. … Sadly, not one of whom has had the guts to respond in writing over the last three years. After all, what could they possibly say? How does one defend glaringly corrupt and abusive behavior?
Although not targeted previously, Ledger readers are certainly entitled to know exactly how unprincipled and corrupt Burnet County government apparently is. At least in regard to condoning through stonewalling repeated criminal behavior of a moonlighting "technician", who as a police officer, should never been appointed for ethical reasons in the first place. Since this writer is extremely patient and thorough, continued intransigence by County officials will only facilitate the process. … Certainly cast an unfavorable light on you and your cronies at the very least.
Indeed, it is to your advantage to quickly resolve the matter before lasting damage is done to image and reputation of county government in regard to this issue. Having recently reconsidered the best interests of this publication however, hopefully on the contrary, you and your colleagues will nonetheless remain sufficiently pompous, arrogant, and glaringly unenlightened enough to foolishly stand behind an egregiously corrupt and abusive officer.
Doing so would clearly demonstrate to readers how hopelessly corrupt the entire system is right to the core. … Additionally, it would be indicative of what has become the "American" way, no? Equally pointedly, further evidence of a fascist police state as well. Moreover, continued stonewalling would only further suggest complicity by County officials and the Sheriff's Department.
More importantly and returning to the point, continued intransigence will make it easier for this publication to target and expose outrageously corrupt officials. All in good time as well, sir, and at the convenience and choosing of this writer. … Most importantly, do The Ledger a favor, Judge. Stay the course. It will expedite matters and demonstrate to the public the true nature of government. Might even wake up a few heretofore hopelessly asleep and motivate them to peacefully challenge glaringly corrupt and abusive government.
Sincerely,
Tim Chorney

Paula Harris
County Librarian
Burnet County Library System
Paula,
With ongoing construction and no
privacy, thought I'd
email to follow
up on fraudulent Ledger website deletions
originating
from the Herman
Brown Free Library. Maxpages
deletion logs provided
to you on Monday,
Feb. 11 clearly indicate the last Ledger
site deletion
occurred
on Sunday, Feb. 3 from an IP address
assigned to the
library. Three
message drafts were also found missing
that day in one
of my email
accounts. Still working at
determining the extent
of fraudulent email access.
All the ladies working at Herman
Brown, including you,
are beyond
reproach. The only other
individual capable of
accessing library
computers on a Sunday is
Featherston. Since the
sites were deleted
via password, this apparently glaringly
corrupt and abusive
officer
had to have installed key-sniffing
software.
As County Librarian, you are
ultimately responsible for
what transpires
on library computers. Criminal
deletion of websites
originated
from library machines. There are
also criminal
privacy issues raised
by installation of tracking
software. State and
federal statutes
have been egregiously
violated. In addition,
there are civil liability issues involved as well.
To date however, my only interest
has been to publicly
expose the
culprit responsible on the website, and
see to it he
is removed
from his position as
"technician". It is critical
the public be
protected from such predators.
His original appointment
was highly
questionable ethically. As a
police officer, he
should not have
had unrestricted access to computers used
by the public.
In view
of continuous problems with the network,
can only assume
this outrageously
incompetent "technician" was forced on you
by the County
Judge and/or Commissioners' Court.
Regardless, crimes have been
committed and as County Librarian
it
is up to you to take action.
Have patiently waited
and allowed
you ample time. Should you not
do so promptly,
complaints will
be filed with state and federal
authorities. Sadly,
stonewalling
will only exacerbate the situation and
stiffen the resolve
of this
writer. Kindly be advised this
is not the end,
just the beginning.
It is to the advantage of all
this problem be solved
quickly.

Feb.3 was a Saturday.
It was a Sunday. Regardless, the
library is closed
on the weekend,
indicating the tech may have deleted the
sites.
Again, are you absolutely
sure the sites were deleted via password
access?

They are machines
located at the Burnet
library in Burnet, Texas. Have
always been extremely
careful to log out and
close the browser. Have shared
the password with
no one.

The tech servicing the machines

Bill Featherston.

He may have installed

way. Are you
