*************A Reflection In The Mirror...**************

[Publisher's Note: The following message has been posted EXACTLY as received. T.C. March 28, 2001.]

I, being in the newspaper business, am a firm believer of the first amendment and I will always defend it. However, while the first amendment alows "skanks" like us to say what we like and criticize any and everyone, it does not, anywhere, state that the government must provide us with the pen and paper to do so. (In this case, the computer equipment)
It has nothing to do with the first amendment. I applaude the young lady for having the courage to stand up to you. I'd say your reflection in the mirror may show a man who also needs to grow up.

Mr. Stephenson:

Seems quite strange you lacked the courage to respond to a charge of plagiarism made against you and your "newspaper" in the March 19, 2001 Newsletter, yet rise in defense of a young lady who made a jackass of herself in the Courthouse parking lot. Interesting, isn't it? Your sense of priorities, indeed, seems a bit misguided.

Your claims of being a supporter of the First Amendment ring hollow. ... After all, few letters to the editor highly critical of your masters in Llano County and Llano City government are ever published in your "newspaper". -- Wouldn't want to disturb the "gravy train", would you?

Seems highly unlikely, however, you've bothered to take the time to carefully read this publication. Otherwise, you would not have implied "any and everyone" is targeted here. ... While the list is indeed long and rhetoric heated, only the most deserving have received such special treatment.

While the First Amendment does not require government to provide the "pen and paper" or the "computer equipment", it DOES, however, preclude a corrupt and abusive County Judge, Commissioners' Court, and County Attorney from ejecting a citizen from a public computer for exercising free speech.

Wake up, Mr. Stephenson. Your ignorance is glaring. ... Precisely, why your letter will be posted exactly as received, unedited, -- errors and all.

Okay, so I didn't spell applaud correctly -- boy you got me there! You are right on one account, I do not read your garbage on a regular basis. I was looking on the internet (on my own computer) for some information about Llano County and I stumbled onto your last issue. However, far be it from me to ever "steal" your work. I certainly would not want to ever do that again. Good buy Mr. Chorney.

The following message was sent in response:

... Sadly, Mr. Stephenson, that wasn't your only error. Be that as it may, you apparently missed the point. It is indeed your egregious ignorance and shameless support of outrageously corrupt officials in your rag that is the problem.

Hey, Jimmy? Most pointedly, the material you and your "newspaper" "stole" did not belong to me. It belonged to the Narcotics Enforcement Team and was a press release signed by Commander Dwight Hardin. -- A press release you put your name on. Wake up, sir. You are an embarrassment to the community and the rag you work for.

Your assertion you innocently stumbled onto this website on your "own" computer is disingenuous. -- In the middle of the work day? ... Sending an e-mail from an account of your "newspaper"?

If you're going to lie, at least do it credibly and with a little creativity. Your second message will also be posted without editing, exactly as received, including errors. Thanks for the additional fodder. Be sure to send some more.

*************Taking A Stand...**************

My hat's off to you. I can't believe this wonderful county won't help, -- in this fight of OURS. I know we have a big problem. So let's start right now, roll up our sleeves, and fix it.

This is my home, country, county. I'm sick of the BS and pretending I believe what's going on isn't really happening. Let's let our government know that it's time for us to take back what's ours. To tell them what we want and how we want it.

To the citizens of Llano, it's time for we, the people, to take back control, and live the life our forefathers wanted. We must support this publication in the task ahead, fighting for us, reporting the truth. It's time to stand and be counted, or we'll never be able to look our kids in the eye.

Pub. Response: Thanks for your kind, eloquent words and support. Indeed, this publication is about principle, honor, justice, ethics. Values our country used to stand for. Values sadly missing, lost to the greed of corrupt and abusive officials. Officials who thrive and prosper on indifference. T.C.
